Them Rats
Supposed "pests" thrive in the ruins of a long-gone society. After centuries of being treated as vermin, rats have finally risen above the opposition through the sheer force of... patience! Them Rats are not from Earth, but a similar planet called R4T5 in a galaxy far, far away. They are far more evolved and slightly larger than Earth's little rascals. Them Rats can have a variety of curious features, unique fur and eye colors, and strange abilities...

▪ Follow all CS rules.

▪ If a rat is not yours, do not claim it as such.

▪ Do not trace, edit, or color any rat bases or rat adopts (whether you own that adopt or not). Only Them Rats artists are permitted to use the official bases. Do not edit your rats' images in any way with the exception of cropping or resizing.

▪ When posting your rat anywhere please link back to this thread. This includes signatures, toyhouse pages, off-site archives, etc.

▪ Please be polite to staff, artists, and other members. Drama will not be tolerated.

▪ Please read the individual rules of every activity within Them Rats (adoption, breeding, customs, foraging, shopping, etc.). Each section has its own rules.

▪ Although there are no limits on participation based on account age, your account will be checked and monitored for suspicious activity if existing for under 2 months. This is to prevent the same person from participating on multiple accounts (having an unfair advantage).

▪ I think of more later, okay? (By this I mean, if something arises I will add/edit rules accordingly.)

Welcome to the adoption center! Them Rats can be adopted for free
here and in the Adoption Events section. Adoptions in this section will either be FCFS (first come
first serve) or Raffle. Until then, I will keep an eye on these little rascals...

I will be here in rat form. Give me a moment to materialize.

▪ You must have a post in the co-op archive in order to adopt or win a rat.

▪ You can only acquire one rat here every two weeks. If you win a rat in a raffle, you may not then adopt a FCFS rat for two weeks from the point the raffle ends. If you adopt a FCFS rat, your entries for any raffles within the two week period will not be counted.

▪ Do not edit your FCFS or Raffle form! If someone adopts the rat you want, quote your FCFS form with the ID of a new rat you are interested in. Any revisions to raffle entries (even quoted replies) will be ignored. Make sure everything is correct before you post!

▪ You may enter the raffle for as many rats as you want, but can only win one. Please make sure to state each of their IDs in your form rather than just saying "all" if you choose to enter for all available raffle rats.

▪ FCFS and Raffle forms will have a different color hex code and tag for every batch to prevent pre-filling. If you post a pre-filled form, it will be ignored.

▪ If you do not connect with a rat, do not try to obtain it. Please give someone else who may connect with it a chance. Do not obtain rats for use as fodder.

▪ Please wait for staff approval of a FCFS adoption before adding the rat to your archive, even if you are the first to post for that rat. Approval constitutes your username being listed beside the rat's ID in the adoption post.

Please read this note before adopting! Because of the unpredictability of time I have at my disposal for creating rats, the first 15 rats of the "themeless" variety will be added here as soon as I complete them from now on. Please keep in mind that you may only adopt one rat every two weeks! You might want to wait for a rat to appear that you connect with. And remember that if you adopt a FCFS rat, you may not also enter the raffle for a two week period. This should not be too much of an issue given that the raffle is being put "on the back burner" until I get at least a few users in ownership of FCFS rats.

Keep all of this in mind when deciding to adopt a FCFS rat. Now carry on!

Sometimes there will be special events in which participation or winning will be awarded with a rat. Most events will be objects in need of your decoration (color-ins). For any event, you may make one submission. Depending on the event, rats will be awarded either by participation (anyone who submits an entry is entered in a raffle), or by winning a competition (entries are judged).
Some events may take another form entirely, so make sure to read the rules of each individual event!

Crystal Ball

August 20th - September 10th
This is a color-in event.
The future is looking bright! In celebration of Them Rats's slow but sure development, I bring you the very first adoption event. Look into the crystal ball and show me what you see. Download the above image and color it in for a chance to win a very special prize.

Rules
▪ You must have a post in the co-op archive in order to participate.

▪ Your submission must be entirely your own. You may not paste an image into the lines, use AI generation, or plagiarize someone else's artwork.

▪ You may recolor the lines, but they must remain distinctly visible. Do not draw over the lines or add your own line art outside of them for this particular event.

▪ There will be a mystery number of winners chosen. Half of the winners are chosen based on participation (basically a raffle entry), and half will be chosen based on my judgement of their submissions.

▪ You may submit one entry.
