You reach the Field and realize a lot of other volunteers had the same idea as you. You debate going someplace else, until you notice that the crowds are doing more chatting than they are working. You could go to the left and clean the far bank, where you can see a lot of storm debris even from there. Or you could go to the large rocks to the right, and see if you can find any litter stuck between them.

Upon arriving at the Park, you decide that the Field is first priority. After all, it gets the most foot traffic; being the first place you pass through on your way in. You quickly join a volunteer group, and work in pairs to clear away as much trash and yard waste as you can. You work for hours, and have several bags of debris to show for it -- not to mention a little something for yourself you'd found while working.

Sure enough, you arrive and find that the once picturesque Forest to be little more than fallen branches, washed up banks of leaf mulch, and trash that had washed through with the flooding. You join the volunteer efforts and begin hauling large branches out of the walking paths. Though it is hard work, your efforts aren't for nothing.

What with all the water runoff, you feel like Lake will be particularly messy, and decide to work there. After making your way through mud and overgrown weeds, you finally arrive at the Lake; already winded. A cleanup crew is actively working, and you're assigned a section. But the day is hot, and as you clean your mind is thinking longingly of taking a break. It's miserable work, but for a good cause.

You had opted to help out in the Forest that afternoon, and after hours of dragging branches and filling bags with yard waste, you were exhausted. You decide to take a break and find a dry place under a nearby tree, where after a few moments rest, you find yourself dozing off. But your nap is interrupted as something small and furry plummets from the branches above, and lands in your lap. Though you're startled at first, you quickly realize it is a Stray Squirrel. It had lost its grip on the wet branches of the tree, and you had cushioned its fall. You give it a lift back into the tree, and as it chitters its thanks, you trudge back to the cleanup crew to resume your work.

You decide to offer your help down by the Lake, and venture through the park towards it; passing several other volunteers on the way and exchanging greetings. The once well-used path to the Lake is overgrown and muddy now, but you trudge through determinedly. It only takes about ten minutes to get there, and upon your arrival you find a group actively cleaning litter from the shoreline. You're handed a bag for all that you pick up, and get to work -- but wait, what's that at your feet?

Upon your arrival at the Park, you're overwhelmed by all the work that is to be done. After taking some time to think on it, you decide that the River would be a safe bet, and head in that direction. It's only a short while before you arrive, somewhat breathless from a hike through the Forest to get there. But no sooner did you arrive, did another volunteer hand you a net and instruct you on how to fish debris from the River. It actually ends up being a lot of fun, and you enjoy your hours spent helping the effort.

You go right, not particularly wanting to work next to the parking lot when you could be enjoying nature. It definitely seems as if you picked the easier of the two as well, finding the spot to be relatively clean already. Maybe a group already came though, and that's why it was deserted? Nonetheless, you find some stuff that had been missed -- assuming volunteers had been there to miss it -- and work leisurely as you reminisce on all the times you'd been here with your pets. You've figured you've picked up all there was to pick, when suddenly you spot- wait, what's that?

You decide to move the tree. After all, if you don't, someone else will. No use in leaving work for the others. You grab hold of the trunk and heave with all your might. At first, it doesn't budge. But as you consider giving up, you feel it slowly beginning to slide across the muddy ground. Though it takes a few minutes and much effort, you move the tree off the path. You can't help but think it will make a good shelter for some of the Strays around the Park. As if it were a reward, it wasn't a few minutes later that you noticed something in your path.

You decide to go left, and make your way to the far bank. The ground is particularly muddy here, but it only takes a few minutes before you fill your bag with litter and storm debris. You're about to go back to get another bag, when you spot something at your feet.

You choose to work in the Field that day, and get straight to cleaning upon your arrival. You fill bags with sticks and wet leaves, load heavier logs and fallen branches into wagons to wheel out, and work with other volunteers to locate all the trash washed in by the storm. It's hard work, and on such a hot day, you tire out quickly. After a few hours, you decide to take a break and go to get lemonades with some of the other volunteers.
