Coupons, customs and copyright updates
New coupon/werm type, plus updates to standard customs and copyrighted contentTo begin: we’ve decided to split the ‘standard’ category into two: standard, and simple. We’ve put together a visual guide for what edits can be made to a simple werm for it to still constitute as ‘simple’, which you can check out here! The edit rules for these new categories will be as follows:
-Standards are werms with no edits whatsoever to the base.
-Simple werms are werms that contain minor edits to the base.
-Odd werms remain werms that can have any sort of edits.
With that being said, we’re also updating the names of the coupons, along with introducing a completely new one:-Standard coupon - allows you to order one custom standard werm
-Simple coupon (previously named ‘old coupon’) - allows you to order one custom simple werm.
-Odd coupon (previously named ‘strange coupon’) - allows you to order one custom odd werm.
The standard coupon is a new (+ cheaper) option that will get you a standard werm with no edits whatsoever for 600g, with the simple coupon being 700g and automatically allowing minor edits (the prices of the already existing coupons have not changed); these edits are the same edits that a standard werm used to be allowed to have.
Additionally, standard and simple werms also now include the four default tail types: default, long, bun and saluki (can be seen in the visual guide). You may have seen these floating around occasionally already; they originally technically made a werm ‘odd’ but we’ve done away with that.Copyright: rules clarity + update and visual guide to copyright based requests.
We’ve put together a visual guide for users on what is + isn’t acceptable when asking for something that may contain and/or be based on copyrighted content- check it out here!
On top of a visual guide, we’ve also decided to make a shift away from having any ‘one-off’ copyrighted werms customs, and towards copyright content werms only being released via larger litters and/or bases. This is in order to make any copyright based werms potentially attainable by all users at a later date through free recolors and/or re-release litters, and to make sure all users have a fair chance at attaining the copyrighted content when it’s released. For example: instead of making a singular ‘Garfield’ werm as a custom, we will either release a litter on a ‘Garfeild’ base (which will be available through free giveaways/re-release at a later date), or we will release a ‘Garfield’ themed litter, with multiple werms based off of characters from ‘Garfield’. We hope this will make this sort of stuff fairer for everyone!
Copyrighted content we can’t do:
-Any custom based on copyrighted content- this includes paid currency, non-currency trades (ex. art trades) and free/gift customs (this also extends to staff customs).
-Any recolour based on copyrighted content made for any sort of currency/items/art.
Copyrighted content we can and will continue to release:
-Litters on a base/s that are based on copyrighted content.
-Litters that may consist of many different one-offs (or with only a couple of alt versions) from one franchise.
-Litters that may contain a couple of werms with designs based on/in reference to copyrighted material.
-Recolors attained for free in giveaways are able to either on a previously released copyright base, or on a non-copyright base with colors/design that is based on/in reference to copyrighted material.
-Items/photobooths containing/based on copyrighted content. Any copyright items will always be released for free to users, and will also be available to attain from the clothes pile in scavenging after their initial release.
We might still continue to update and clarify things after this point if need be- we appreciate the continued feedback!
