Swamp Kitties Palus cattus, sometimes lovingly referred to as "switties" or "swampies", are large carnivorous aquatic felines. Despite their name, they don't only live in swamps, and can be found in pretty much any body of water or water-based biome on earth. They can reach up to 12" tall, but are usually more around the 7" - 8" range. They are covered in a fine aquaphobic coat of fur, and their body is soft and round like a seals. Their bodies are well insulated by blubber so they can easily resist cold temperatures. Swampies have a kind nature, and are easily befriended by humans. Because of this, they make excellent pets and helpful companions.

swamp kitties lives! a new litter drops, and i'm hoping to spruce the place
up a little and maybe be more active! ty for being patient and showing interest in these lil guys :D

✲ don't claim/use/copy SK you don't own
✲ don't edit/trade the base, or claim it as your own
✲ do not contact members asking for their SKs, or contact staff asking for free SKs
✲ do not guilt trip. missing a FCFS or not winning a raffle is sad, but please be a good sport!
✲ do not use SKs as trade fodder
✲ you must have been active on chickensmoothie for at least 2 months to participate in SKs (includes posting, adopting pets, etc.)
✲ do not edit adoption posts or they will be voided
✲ FCFS must have a number stated, no asking "any that are open"
✲ you must have a post on the co-op archive to own SKs
✲ you can only win/claim one SK per litter

absolutely! linking back isn't enforced, but it is appreciated! let your sig switty share the world of SKs! :D

✲ can i take my SK offsite?
yes, but please link back here or the SK toyhouse!

✲ can i make my own SK?
no, sorry! they are a closed species. you can only get one via adoption, customs, breedings, etc.

✲ are they free?
yes! however, some customs and breedings may be priced at the artist's discretion.

✲ do switty pups grow?
at the moment, no. any switties on the baby lines are considered PPS! this is subject to change, ie. a growth item may exist later on.

lore tidbits! might neaten this up later

✲ you often will see people riding their swamp kitties like a horse, saddle and all! they don't travel super fast, but they can trek for long stretches without needing a break. they can also swim while being ridden.
✲ switties are obligate carnivores, as felines are. they enjoy feasting on fish and crustaceans, as well as bugs. they will often eat a large meal (like a deer or shark) and only need to snack for the next fortnight.
✲ switties don't have a visible nose. they scent through their jacobson's organ.
✲ their ears are usually tall and thin, with a lot of movement so they can be pinned to the back of the head to stop them being filled with water. however, they can have a variety of shaped ears!
✲ switties have both gills and lungs, and can breath on land and in water.
