I think I'm already sick of this new "random rare monthly outcome" trend, and I wasn't even in support of it in the first place. It's irritating enough trying to find the random high demand outcome or two in events that everyone expects absurd overpays for, and now I have to deal with this basically every month too?

this is SO real. it's honestly a bit annoying n while im not interested in the otter myself, i find people paying this much for a pet that will be under euc WILD. but hey man, if thats what they want to do i guess.......

I'm kind of torn on the idea of monthly rares. As a new player, the chance of getting something that's significantly more valuable that I can use to trade for old pets from before I joined is attractive, but as someone who is trying to collect all of the monthly pets from certain species, I wonder if the new rarities overshot just a little bit, because I'm seeing some truly absurd hype around that otter.

There haven't been monthly rares yet, and for all we know the PPS otter is just an uncommon or very uncommon. It wouldn't be the first time (far from it) that slightly less common outcomes get their rarity overblown, like every month someone says something to the effect of "is this outcome a rare, it's impossible to find" in the discussion thread.

It's totally possible it's indeed a rare, but to me it's part of the game. Some outcomes are harder to get than others, it's always been that way! I know some people struggle to find trades (idk why but I've rarely actually struggled to get even rarer outcomes), but you can't make the game so everyone get everything easily, or there would be no game at all.

Agreed - I do think people offering/paying a higher price for the otter are doing so due to wanting to have each month complete as soon as possible; however, I was able to find an otter quite easily by clicking on online users at the bottom of the page. Sure enough, quite a few people had two. I like having an outcome that's mildly harder to find; sure, it can feel stressful but it's part of the game and it keeps me occupied, it's no August PPS

Agree with everything said here! I am SUPER excited to see we are finally getting monthly 'rares' (honestly the PPS here seems more VUC/EUC to me anyways) but I actually check and am excited to see my growths every day knowing I might get something rare from them now/have a fun trading goal for the month. Hope to see more of this!

I don't think this has even happened yet. January didn't have anything particularly rarer than usual, unless you count the pink PPS rat. And I don't think February has anything particularly rare either, maybe that chocolate covered gummy rat but I really don't think so. We'll see when they get their rarities.

People just latch onto the popular pets because of hype and just in case it's that shiny rare outcome legends speak about.
I absolutely loathe it too though. I hate that monthly rares won the vote..

Was waiting for someone to echo my sentiments here, none of the rares have even been confirmed to be out yet and trading for high demand outcomes this year has already been more tedious than ever
I can only hope everyone’s going to be sick enough of this by the end of the year to push for it to be rolled back, especially once the actual rares have dropped and we’ve seen the nightmare unfold firsthand

When comparing it to the 2016 store pet king cheetah, they definitely look really similar!! Especially with the tear marks and the long stripes running along and parallel to the back. The faint stripes on the otter's tail are what did it for me, though.
