🌻 Complete Item List and Values Guide - Ongoing Project 🌻

Postby Sashtato » Wed Jan 17, 2024 9:18 am

OVERVIEW

Complete Item List and Values Guide

So, I've been REALLY wanting a complete item list for quick referencing and trade value information, and since we don't have one, I decided to start one myself.

In this guide I want to include images and names of each item (except perhaps permanent store items), with suggested values for each item. So far, I have done this for every free item (and some store items) from 2008 and 2009 to see what that process may look like and get a feel for the concept.

The idea is to basically expand upon the Popular Items Guide. I used that guide, the How Much is This Item Worth thread, and the Item Trades thread to determine the values I added so far to the spreadsheet.

WHAT I NEED

- Thread comments with input/opinions/research/suggestions
- Spreadsheet reviews, with comments on suggested changes (the link above should allow anyone to comment)
- Spreadsheet editors, so other people can add to the spreadsheet

This is obviously and ENORMOUS project, and of course I don't think just one person should be willy nilly determining values for things, ESPECIALLY when it comes to more recent years, where things are more uncertain. That is why I would like YOU to help!

I am looking anyone who is interested and willing to put in time to either research values, give personal input for values, review the sheet or add to the sheet. I thought we could use this thread to publicly discuss what we think items tend to or should be valued at so that it could be a collective group effort with as many perspectives and as much input as possible.

So far, anyone who clicks the above link has the ability to make comments on the spreadsheet. Please do so if you have any thoughts or suggestions! If you are interested in this project and would like to contribute, please let me know and I can add you as an editor.

Anyone who wants to edit does not have to commit to adding a ton of stuff! If you know of a few items and their values and just want to add those few that's totally okay! As I said before, I want this to be a collective project with as much input as possible to get accurate, agreed upon values, I don't want it to be a daunting obligation.

DETAILS

Here are some things I think the sheet should include:

- Image of every item
- Name of every item
- Value of every item, whether confirmed or estimated

In the guide, if it was difficult to find information on very old or high value items, I put "limited data" with the values. If I wasn't sure or felt the value ranged slightly I included a tilde ~ before each value. If I was very confident in the item's value I did not include any symbol or comment. If I was REALLY unsure or confused by a value, I colored the cell orange for review.

I started to add current store items, but felt that was possibly too much and unnecessary. I think including retired store items though is important to add.

VALUE DISCUSSION

I think there needs to be a discussion on what items should generally be valued at. Post rarity update I think it's necessary to reevaluate our current "uncommon of it's year" rule. Large or high demand items might be worth more, but a tiny leaf from a big set might be worth less. Plushies and large nature items tend to be worth more than speech bubbles or signs.

I think it would be valuable to discuss what we think that should look like post update.

I don't think this guide should be set in stone, confirmed, solid values, but rather a quick reference sheet for someone to start at when trying to understand item trades.

Let me know your guys' thoughts! I would love to see what you guys think and get some help on this project. Thanks ahead of time!

When I decided to price my items I kept running into the item worth threads being outdated. Unless it was a popular item with trade data, the advice was "it's worth an uncommon of its year". But I had 2009 items with no trade data and there are no 09 uncommons, so I guess it's a rare then?

Also. The malk fairies were listed an 09 rare each, but there are only a few 09 rares left, so is it an 09 very rare now? ._.

Thank you for all your hard work! This truly is an undertaking!

Are you wanting actual value or what people are willing to pay for the item. I've seen lots of auctions where people are trying to trade their items for the value given on the current guide only to get no offers. I feel that's because what it's worth doesn't mean people will pay that for them. Like rats I have several omgsr that I've been trying to trade/sell based off the guide only to be told if it's not TD they won't offer more than .5 MA. I'd love to see a guide where people can have a more realistic idea of what there items are worth as well as what they can expect to get for them if that makes sense.
also have and Eldemore account with the same user name. As well as a FR account with the same name.

This is a great thought! Perhaps I can add another column to the right where its sort of like a demand section? If particular high value items go for a bit less then that could be noted, or vise-versa. There are also a few items on the list already with a range of values. This is because some trade data would show one value, but commenters in the item worth thread would (more than once) give it another value. The stated value could go in the other column with the trade data value in the actual value column maybe?

I really like this idea! IF you have suggestions on how to implement it let me know! I'm gonna play around with some ideas for it. Thank you!

I've definitely struggled with that too, and I noticed most every comment I used was from at LEAST a couple years ago, so I did make some executive decisions based on that. For example, if someone three years ago said it was worth a 2009 UC I put it as a rare. If it seemed really low demand or low value I instead put them as "Old Rares" or "Old Uncommons" based on Horror's new list.

I also am a bit uncertain on using 09 rare as a currency, but I feel like the 2009 items are worth more than an "old rare". Maybe others disagree? I included 09 rares with the idea that its worth half of a 09 VR, so something would need to be added to one of the sides to balance it. I did this when people listed items as "2 09 rares" I instead wrote "09 VR" Does that seem about right to you guys?

Maybe we need to have a discussion about ALL 2009 items though like we did with the pets and reevaluate some of their values. I know we don't have much data to go on but perhaps they should be updated. Maybe some are worth 09 VRs and others just Old Rares or Old Uncommons?

One idea I have now though is maybe write that its also worth ".5 2009 VR"? That way people might get the idea that if trading with a 2009 VR on one side its clearer that something will need to be added to balance it? Just a thought! I love the feedback and ideas!

i'm not sure if this would be too much work, but i feel like a really good thing to add to this list (it would be especially more easy for recent releases) is how an item was obtained/how many came in a set.

for example- from this past halloween they had the big candle set (20+ pieces) as a free release and then they had the pumpkin cat items as a token trade in. i wouldn't consider a pumpkin cat equally valued to one of those candles- but they supposedly both go for an uncommon of their year on paper. i don't think this would have a big difference now, but applying this to older event items would show a bit of a difference there. this is reflected in some item values (like medieval faire items) but isn't really considered for later events.

if interested, iwould definitely be willing to track down how items were released and the quantity of them to add to the spreadsheet in some way (maybe a column)? i don't know if you think it'd be too cluttered, i just feel like that'd help with the distinction between uncommon/common or lower worth items :]

i think just sticking with gay's form works. most items besides the new store ones are a uncommon of the years outside of the list. it could get messy. if gay could be involved in the making of the list i think a lot of people would be more comfortable with this idea.

i agree with the fact that the popular item guide is the best guide to use, but from what i understood the meaning of this thread is to determine the value of all other items. there's a lot of '09 and '10 items (and newer) that have no easily findable rarity, aren't on the list, and go for rares or more, so it'd be nice to have a place that documents stuff like that. the uncommon of the same year was working alright before the rarity update, but i feel like it isn't accurate after the update.

Oh my gosh, yes! I think that would be awesome, because you're totally right, a free candle is not the same as the token pumpkin cats. Perhaps this information could really help us as a community to determine values, since the "uncommon of their year" concept is super outdated. I love this idea! I don't think it would get too cluttered if I added a column with that information. At the very least we can give it a try, if its too much we can change it! If you'd be willing to look into some of that that would be HUGE! Also, if you know how to search or where to look for that info too, I'd be happy to also do some digging. Wonderful idea!

I agree that the form works for sure, but its extremely limited. There are tons of items that are high value (many 2009 rare items from several years) that aren't on the list. Or that were but were removed.

I like the form, don't get me wrong, I've pulled values directly from the form for all of those items I've added so far. The only thing I've changed is LA to be .5-.75 MA (I believe that's the correct value but if that's not PLEASE tell me, I had to search high and low to find that information and I saw a couple conflicts, hence the range) since no one uses LA anymore and finding what that value means is difficult.

I think the form is good for looking at just those few high value items, but I see SO MANY item trade and value questions go completely unanswered that don't include any of these items. The idea is to include every item (fingers crossed I don't get burnt out from doing that many)so that your regular every day users can reference it even for simple things.

Its also 100% meant to be a community project, which is why I made the post and the form open to all comments. It should be built with trade data, item information, and as much user input as possible to make it as accurate and fair as possible

The more different options for how to value something as murky as items, the better I think ahaha
I feel that it is better to make a guide of "what an item could be worth" and add an extra note that some things tend to have more demand, like the popular sayings of "plushies and nature items have good demand", but without putting the demand directly into the guide's values.

For older items, I think of them as rare as the pets of that event. 2009 Valentine has 20 pets and 19 are Extremely Rare, so I personally would say that items from that event would be 1 2009 Extremely Rare each, rarity wise. A speech bubble would probably be way harder to trade off for that than the arrow, but I still think it's worthwhile that people know how rare the item might be, and from then on they can choose how they want to trade versus trying to take the demand into account and estimating that the speech bubble can get an uncommon at most, as then the demand can get added doubly. "It's an uncommon in the guide but it's unpopular so it probably gets less than that," if that makes sense.

Newer events tend to have more pets and bigger item releases, but they also have the added benefit that outcome threads tend to document their release much better. Echoing what puffy said with that same example, those candles are harder to pinpoint since there were So many, but the pumpkin cats were 1 token each. Token pets from Halloween are (if I can count correctly) 34, with 52% being Extremely Uncommon, 44% being Rare and 4% Very Uncommon, so I would assume the pumpkin cats would be in that range rarity wise.
I'm not sure if when people say "an uncommon" if they mean the solid uncommon or if includes the whole uncommon range (vu and eu), but I think just getting that cleared up would already be helpful to item values, same thing goes for labelling an item as worth a rare, if it's a solid nothing rare, or rare range.
Token items have a similar but less helpful advantage to trying to pining down a value if they're in a event with banner pets, as due to how banner pets are given out, tokens are not rarer than them at the start, but then quickly start disappearing as people trade them in, but also some people are left with a large surplus.

So something that could identify what was a trade in item, what was a token and what was free might also be helpful.

Trying to get a "rarity" idea is wayyy more work, way more calculation just to get to a guessed more precise value (and most recent items will probably end up being in the uncommon range regardless, at least for now), and keeping it up updated with rarity changes would also be a pain as well, , but for older years I do hope it's taken into account, especially as their overall pet rarity is already in the very rares and extremely rares Even with years of pets being rereleased vs items having been released once.

(Sorry if anything is confusing I'm fighting with my life against a translator lol)
