I saw the signs I saw what he was planning. I should have told someone. I failed him as a mentor. It didn’t matter if I trained him to be one of the best, his ambitions were too strong and I wasn’t there to guide him. What was I supposed to do? Warn the clan when it got so bad? Then they’d all ask why didn’t I help him. Maybe early on but then they’d think I’m crazy. Ah don’t worry your apprentice is fine he’s just passionate! You’re going crazy you’re just overreacting! So now, I can’t tell them. I can’t tell them anything about him. About what I saw during his training. The way he killed some prey animals… I hadn’t seen it before. At first I thought it was just a weird technique but now seeing the state he brought upon the clan… and then his battle moves and the way he spoke. Maybe I did fail him. He was so excited when he was apprenticed to be under my paw. He always told me he didn’t like his mother and I was so much more relaxed. Oh little one why didn’t you tell me what was going on in your brain. Longanfrost why didn’t you tell me… because now I can’t tell anyone I saw it coming. I can’t tell anyone else you were the reason the leader and deputy forcefully had to retire. I can’t say you’re the reason we have no leadership. You’re still my apprentice.

Prompt: Small songbirds are the best. It’s because she’s made up a fun game to catch these little guys. She never waits when they reach the ground. She leaps from the trees and lands on them. They never see it coming. Plus even if they do fly away, they give her a good chase seeing how small they are unlike a crow or an owl. They’re a harder target and she loves a good challenge.

Silentvixen's favorite prey is rabbit. More specifically the plump brown rabbits you always find in the spring. She loves how warm and filling they are. Plus, it's nostalgic for her as that was the first prey she ever ate as a kitten. Each time she takes a bite out of a succulent spring hare, she's brought back to the warmth and reassurance she felt as her mother gently taught her how to eat fresh kill. It was certainly a scary experience, arguably the most daunting challenge a kitten faces prior to becoming a softpaw, but the kindness and patience of her mother made her brave enough to try the prey. Ever since that moment, rabbit has been her favorite prey to eat and catch as well.

That's not all she loves about rabbit. She also loves the teamwork that goes into catching a rabbit. Stalkers tend to hunt pretty independently with a guardian simply watching from a distance. However, when it comes to catching the lively spring hares, it requires patience and a coordinated team. The thrill of a planned and organized hunt is unmatched for Silentvixen and it makes sharing a rabbit with her hunting patrol twice as satisfying afterwards!
