part 1. - travellers in the night
A harsh leafbare settles into the mountainside where the Wanderers do their best if only just to stick together closely as they trail, in groups of two, three, and four, guided by the Guidinglights and Gladerunners through thick snow drifts that threaten to swallow them whole.

      Image

      part 2. - a breath of respite
In the moments of respite, when the smallest of kits can no longer bring their paws above the surface of the snow, the Wanderers huddle together closely to shield their flame from the wind. The leafbare winds threaten to swiftly snuff the pit fire with every sharp turn of biting chill, but unbeknownst to them Orava the soul of the winter storm itself hears their pleas and splits the winds in the valleys between snowy hills where they seek shelter so they can have as comforting a rest as is possible in the renewing blizzard that cleanses the Gladewood.

      Image

part 3. - treasured moments of peace
Even in the most difficult of times, the ties between the Wanderers to each other are strong and the guiding paws that lead them forward every day of the storm are held firm, Leijona and Harja are a pair to be reckoned with and they push against the storm with warmth of love alone. Rather than fear and hate it, they embrace the nipping cold and seek warmth in the hearth and each other, with only respect for the ways of the natural world that bring this storm to them.

    ↬ word count: 985 words
    ↬ prompt:

she is dead. she is dead. she is dead.
it takes him a few long heartbeats to fathom and understand the sight in front of him.

his friend is dead. he killed her.
black, inky smoke is rising and surrounding her body, dancing around the limp silver form on the ground.

next to her, the sun god, abendro sits on the ground, still dazed from the whole ordeal. the voidwalker had knocked him out.

aureo’s dark blue eyes glittered in the dark like sapphires. for a moment, they are emotionless, unfeeling, like a robot’s. then he snaps back to reality and realises what he has done.

“what-“ the torbie looks down at his paws. then he runs over to his mentor to help him up.

dark crimson blood stains his claws. in his shock and grief, he recounts.
    what happened, exactly?

“if you want to be respected and known as a god, aureo, one absolutely MUST NOT interact or involve themselves with mortals. there are consequences, you know. and the mortals carry the curse of the void, you never know who might be corrupted already.”

abendro hissed at the young god in training. “but— but lavelle is different! she’s pure and innocent! even her name means it!” aureo yowled back, those sapphire-coloured eyes slitted.

after a long argument, aureo stormed off into one of the many hidden rooms in the pantheon. the other gods did not know about this particular room he was hiding in, accessible by a secret passageway only aureo knew.

wisps of cloud floated in and out from the lone window as aureo curled up on the bed.

this was not the first time he had argued for this long with his mentor. the young tom sighed. he didn’t get why they all wanted to push him so hard.
it all started after aureo accidentally embarrassed his mentor, leading to a huge fight. they used to be so close, but now they were almost like rivals.

decades passed, and aureo was still unhappy and dissatisfied. it had seemed like the arguments had only gotten worse. he didn’t get why abendro couldn’t go easy on him, even just be patient or nice with him for once.

aureo’s only salvation from the snappy golden tom and the strict ways of the gods was his best friend, lavelle.
she understood him, coming from a privileged family herself. she was kind to him, and was one of his close friends that was not a god.

aureo had snuck out and gone to the mortal realm to seek out the silver molly to talk to him after a particularly rough day he was having.

of course, he had not expected what was in store for him next.
after a while, lavelle kept on trying to convince aureo to run away with her and become a mortal like her.

it was unusual behaviour for her, as the silver she-cat knew aureo couldn’t bear to leave the pantheon, since he had others he cared about there.
after rejecting her a few times (nervously), lavelle snapped.

black smoke started to form around her and engulf her, until she was no longer recognisable. a black liquid akin to ink dripped out of her hollow, glowing eyes.
“no..” aureo shrunk away. [b]abendro was right. she really is one of the cursed.[\b] he thought in horror.

fighting. aureo knew he could not let himself get scratched by lavell- what used to be lavelle, or he too would become one of those creatures. however, he struggled to hit her as he couldn’t bear to hit the one he was once friends with.

“AUREO!” a voice yowls. abendro has come. the golden tabby charades and leaps onto the voidwalker. okay, maybe abendro can save him and it’ll all be over, he doesn’t want to kill lavelle himself—

“AUREO-“ another yell from his mentor, this time cut short. aureo jolted back to reality, and he sees his mentor, unconscious. the walker doesn’t attack abendro any longer. instead, it charges right at aureo.

a rush of protectiveness flows through him. “HOW COULD YOU HURT MY MENTOR?!”

before he realises it, aureo slashes the creature’s neck viciously, and it collapses, leaving aureo standing over the body of lavelle in a pool of black liquid. backing away to not let the liquid stain his paws, aureo stares around and realisation dawns upon him.

the grass in the spot where lavelle fell was starting to turn black and wilt. propping abendro up with his shoulder, the golden tom simply glares at him in a way that seems to say, “i told you so. this is all your fault.”

the two made up, but even then it wasn’t over.
most of the other gods (except halcie, aureo’s best friend, of course), accused aureo of setting abendro up to get hurt, whilst others whispered that he too got cursed.

he knew he couldn’t tackle all the rumours, of course. so eventually aureo decides to make up with his mentor. it’s a hard decision for him, but he knows it’s right.

when he walks into the large golden building where abendro stays and found the right room, aureo felt a tinge of guilt. his mentor really was just trying to keep him safe. “hey, abendro?” the golden tom next to him jerks his head to look at aureo.

“i-I’m sorry. it’s just…you were right, and i feel really bad that you got hurt.”
to aureo’s surprise, his mentor smiled and meowed, “it’s alright. was i really that tough on you? i…I’d like to apologise for that too.” he chuckled.

after that, mentor and apprentice made up, and abendro was less harsh on him and attempted to be more patient, whilst aureo did his part by helping ahis mentor and actually listening more.

in his heard, aureo already knew it, a broken bond that he had always struggled with and hated had been mended.

    ↬ clan archive: TreeClan

    ↬ word count: 565 words
↬ prompt: The memories always came to him in his dreams. It wasn't usually a nightly thing, but at least once a moon Stormbranch would remember the rogues. Most of his current clanmates weren't even part of the clan, only a few cats like Hemlockstar, Icebird, or Oakspark remembering the harrowing tale of the rogues.

He was a kit when they arrived, claiming a large portion of TreeClan's territory as their own. The TreeClan cats were determined to not give up their territory without a fight, despite the sheer ferocity of the rogues. Many warriors were lost throughout the stay of the rogues, including Stormbranch's own parents.

"We're gonna fight them off, right?" Stormkit said, pouncing on his mother's tail, his eyes blazing with admiration and determination on behalf of his parents. As a kit, he couldn't see the flash of uncertainty in his parents' eyes, nor did he really understand what he saw. The two warriors shared a look, his father flicking his tail across Stormkit's ears.
"Of course, little one. When we launch our attack, these rogues will have no choice but to move on!" The older tom gently knocking Stormkit on his side, pushing him over playfully, much to Stormkit's delight.

"We're the strongest clan there is!" Stormkit howled triumphantly, pouncing again on his mother's tail, who flicked it behind her to share another worried glance with her mate. Out of sight of the young kit, his father whispered to his mate we will protect him, no matter what.

The next day, almost all the warriors were gathered to launch an attack patrol on the rogues. Stormbranch can still vividly see the return of the patrol, such a small amount of cats, their tails dragging, bloodied, scarred, defeated. His father was not with them.

Another half moon later, his mother was lost to the rogues, just before he was to be made an apprentice. Another life taken by the rogues, another reason for vengeance. Yet, Stormkit seemed to be the only one with fight still with him. As he dreams, he remembers the newly named Hemlockstar's face - so defeated already, unsure of the future - staring down at him as Stormkit promised to defeat the rogues. The smile never reached Hemlockstar's eyes when the kit vowed to get rid of them, the uncertainty not lost on Stormkit.

Even still, when Stormkit became Stormpaw, he was determined to have his revenge. The clan trained hard for the next few moons, under Hemlockstar's leadership. It wasn't easy. It wasn't going to be an easy fight. The clan lost cat after cat, day after day, until many left the clan out of fear. When only a few remained, in the dead of Leafbare, TreeClan launched an attack on the rogues, who were facing their own problems in the harsh Leafbare weather. Unused to the forest hardships, the battle was lost by the rogues, though TreeClan suffered casualties and hardships of their own that season.

It was after that battle that Stormpaw became Stormbranch. It was after that battle that Stormbranch felt that he had finally defeated the evil that took his parents from him. He had lost many battles against the rogues, and he would never be able to regain what was lost, but he and his clan eventually won the war. Stormbranch vowed from that day forward that he would never let something like that happen again.

    ↬ prompt:

In the aftermath of the devastating fire that razed Willowclan's once-thriving camp, Rookpaw emerged as an unlikely leader, his spirit unbroken despite the charred ruins that surrounded him. The flames, sparked by a malevolent rival clan and fueled by betrayal from within, had claimed the lives of his kin and shattered the foundations of Willowclan. His own rival and best friend had betrayed the clan they had called home and felt so much unwavering love for. The thought of defeat and despair just did not come as an easy accept to Rookpaw. The young apprentice vowed to restore the clan to its original status. In the face of such adversity, Rookpaw set out on a journey to rebuild, reforge, and redefine his destiny.

The moon hung low in the night sky, casting an ethereal glow on the desolate landscape as Rookpaw, now Rookstar, ventured into the heart of the wilderness. The whispers of the wind carried tales of his resilience, his unwavering determination to rise from the ashes of despair. With each step, he felt the weight of leadership settling upon his shoulders, a mantle woven from the memories of those lost.

Guided by a vision of unity, Rookstar sought refuge in a secluded valley, sheltered by ancient trees, abandoned, worn down granite temples, and murmuring streams. Here, he envisioned the birth of a new clan, one that would echo the strength and resilience of its leader. Soughclan, named after the gentle rustle of leaves in the wind, was to become a sanctuary for cats who sought solace and renewal.

The initial days were filled with struggle. Rookstar, though young and untested, proved himself a beacon of hope. He worked tirelessly to build a makeshift camp, utilizing the remnants salvaged from Willowclan's ruins and the ruins of the once thriving temples. The scars of the fire lingered in the air, but Rookstar's determination proved stronger than the embers that threatened to extinguish.

As the seasons passed, Soughclan burgeoned into a haven for those who had lost their way. Rookstar's leadership, once doubted by some, began to command respect. He demonstrated the importance of unity and collaboration, forging bonds that transcended the shared tragedy of Willowclan. Each cat brought unique skills and stories, weaving a rich tapestry that mirrored the diversity of the forest.

Under the new moon, Rookstar gathered his clanmates in a clearing adorned with blossoming flowers, a stark contrast to the charred memories of their past. With the ancient trees bearing witness, he spoke of resilience, of forging ahead in the face of despair. The Soughclan cats, their fur illuminated by the soft moonlight, listened with reverence.

Rookstar's leadership became a legend, spoken in hushed tones by the neighboring clans who marveled at the tenacity that birthed Soughclan from the ashes and the young leader who spearheaded the rebirth.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow upon the valley, Rookstar stood at the edge of the clearing. The wind whispered through the trees, carrying echoes of the past and promises of a brighter future.

    Shattered eclipse

(this prompt answer is continuation from the day 2 prompt story and tells of the creation of the lost spiderwebs clan( spiderwebs for short) which is a clan under the same universe (shattered eclipse) as wind whisperers clan , so like they are under the same name and archive but are lore wise different)
    ↬ word count: 646 words
    ↬ prompt:

It was an unusually cold winter when Kefira,Sheep and Salamander had been exiled from their previous clan by kefiras and sheeps older brother wolf. It was hard for them to travel in the snowy terrain and even harder to catch prey and then they had to keep eachother warm during the cold nights.

It took them a whole month to travel to where Salamanders brother Tuikku was residing at and when they arrived they were all so tired it took them a week to recover from the journey, once they had recovered they had to start planning how to go from here and who would lead them.

But what they didn't know was that some of the cats from their previous clan had decided to follow them in hopes that they wouldn't have to be under wolf’s command. The cats who had decided to follow them were Apricot,Miel,Wildfire,Kettu,Ilves and Korppi.

Their journey was a bit easier as there were more cats to hunt and to bundle up in a pile together to keep eachother warm

Though the last few days of the journey Apricot had started to get more and more tired as she was expecting kits but luckily for the traveling group they made it to where Kefira, sheep and salamander were, who then helped prepare an den and a nest within that den for apricot, the next morning there were three small kittens sleeping peacefully next to apricot.

Apricot decided to name the kittens Howl,Ember and Jay.
Though everything went well for a few days, the nights started soon becoming colder and colder and to top it all off there was a wolf seen near the place the new group/clan of cats was residing at. They thought of driving the wolf away but they decided that the safest option was to move as they did not have enough herbs for healing in case anyone would get hurt when chasing the wolf away.

As the newly formed clan traveled through the snowy terrain, Many snow storms and cold nights after the clan had arrived in a new territory which would be suitable for their new beginning. their new territory was in a forest and their camp in a grotto in the forest though now that they had found the place for their camp they had to rotate around their jobs of hunting, patrolling and building dens and nests, the hardest part for them was to find the time and energy to do all that while someone had to watch apricots kits with her.

Luckily Apricots kits were easy to watch, telling the kits about the clan's history and where nearly all of the cats in the clan came from and helping them learn the ways of the clan helped keeping the kits still as they were more interested in stories and history than escaping.

The winter was nearing its end and so the prey had become easier to hunt ,den and nest materials were beginning to be easier to find as the snow had slowly started to melt away.

The herb shortage was still going on but it had became easier to manage after the clan had made a deal with a mother fox, the deal was that the fox would help them find herbs if they would take in her fox pup and heal him he had been sick and she didn't know how to heal her pups sickness so she had decided to ask for help from the cats..

The fox pup was taken in by wildfire who had the most time to take care of the pup who then became one of their bestest friend and companion.

As it became early spring the fox mother kept helping the cats and so the cats of the clan had decided from now on to not attack or drive away foxes if the fox doesn't attack them first.

BasiliskStar faced a profound personal hardship that tested her leadership and resilience. It was a time when a mysterious illness swept through the tribe, affecting both young and old alike. The afflicted cats displayed symptoms of lethargy, weakness, and disorientation, spreading fear and uncertainty among the clan.

As the leader, BasiliskStar took it upon herself to find a cure and protect her tribe. She delved into the ancient lore of the swamp, seeking guidance from the Basilisk's whispered wisdom. She ventured into the heart of the treacherous marshlands, her bright amber eyes reflecting the determination to save her kin.

Days turned into nights, and the burden of leadership weighed heavily on BasiliskStar's shoulders. She encountered challenges, from navigating through the perilous terrain to facing the swamp's elusive spirits. Along the journey, she discovered an ancient herb known as "Serpent's Tear," hidden in the darkest corners of the swamp.

With this newfound knowledge, BasiliskStar returned to her ailing tribe. She meticulously brewed a remedy using the Serpent's Tear, blending it with other herbs known for their healing properties. The cure, although unconventional, proved effective. Slowly but surely, the sick cats began to recover, and the shadow of the mysterious illness lifted from the tribe.

BasiliskStar's perseverance, resilience, and willingness to confront the dangers of the swamp to save her clan became a legend among the Tribe of Hissing Waters. The hardship forged an even stronger bond between the leader and her followers, cementing their trust in her ability to face any challenge that the swamp might throw at them.

In the whispers of the swamp breeze, BasiliskStar's name became synonymous with both power and compassion, a leader who could navigate the perilous currents of the swamp and emerge victorious against the darkest adversities.

↬ prompt: "Did you hear about the whispers in the forest? How that shadow is dashing from here and The Unknown? I heard they're from our clan! What do you think about it?" Mangostep meowed. In the sun, she sat beside Shrimpsplash, who was indulging in a pile of fish and shrimp. They were sat in the middle of camp. "There's no doubt that they're trying to be as helpful as can be to the ones they know are in misfortune. I wonder who they are. I wonder, do they have thick fur? Are they actually from our clan, or are they- are they a star above, reanimated to aid our clan?"

"I don't know what I think about them," Shrimpsplash said through a large bite of fish. She swallowed the bones from his bite and all. "I think, so long as they don't try to take any food, then we're good! I don't have an opinion. I don't know. What else do you think about them?"

"I mean, I don't know! It's nice to see the kits and apprentices receiving things to keep them warm. Oh, imagine if they're a house cat?"
    "Like from the twoleg place??"
"Yeah! They give us such nice stuff to keep the young ones warm during these freezing times, it's hard to fathom how they are getting their paws on the objects. How do you think they're doing it? Like, be real?"
"I don't know! I already told you. I don't think they're a Starclan cat, though. I think they're a living cat. How else could they remain down here for so long?"
"Well, okay, maybe that was a little farfetched..."
"Yeah... But the way you speak of it is kind of making me a little excited!"

Mangostep smiled gingerly as she hopped to stand on her paws. She wouldn't receive answers from Shrimpsplash! Obviously. She was too gluttonous to acknowledge what was happening beside her! She gave her head a slight shake from disappointment.

"I'm going to find out. Tonight, I know it's not really allowed, but... Tonight, I'm going to sneak out and find the traveler. I want to know their intentions and who they are. What they are? Traveling from clan to clan isn't exactly something that's common around here! I just have to know. I have to know!!"
"Okay, just make sure to be sneaky. I tried to sneak out once to go hunting, and... Ugh, I got caught. And had to do apprentice duties for a whole moon! It sucked. So, make sure you're slick. You don't want to go back to doing that..."
"I will. And- maybe, I'll take this traveler a gift. They deserve something for doing so much charitable work. I'll go make that bundle of things for them. I just hope I find them!"

Mangostep bounded away from Shrimpsplash, effectively leaving him in the dust. She smiled to herself as she entered the den and padded to her nest. Maybe her friend was disinterested, but she was certain her work was doing their clan well. She'd spoken with apprentices earlier that day, which had led her to learning of their opinions towards the fellow feline, Mangostep's secret persona. She was certain she was helping to rejuvenate hope that had previously been lost when the white flakes had begun to fall graciously from the sky.

    ↬ word count: 858 words
    ↬ prompt:
It was the first winter since the Singing Queen had set sail with Mist Seeker on board and the money Mist Seeker had been given by her parents for the ship was beginning to run dry. Worse yet, Mist Seeker was soon to give birth and the crew was saving as much of the funds as possible to pay for a healer to be brought aboard once they reached Medela, a town with a great reputation for its healers.

Food was being carefully rationed and tensions were running high. Few, if any, of the crew held anger towards Mist Seeker for their situation, but it was easy for hungry stomachs to create empty blame. The Captain, Lion Mane, was quick to crack down on any brewing arguments but as the weather grew worse and the idea of reaching any town, much less Medela which was still a ways off, grew slimmer, even he became tenser and quicker to aggravation.

Mist Seeker had begun secluding herself in her cabin on the ship, only coming out to receive her rations which were as nutritious as the crew could manage so the kittens she was carrying wouldn't have to suffer malnourishment. Many of the crew had grown close to her during the time she'd been aboard and were used to her hovering around, waiting to be asked to help. Several crew members habitually began to call out to ask her to help with a task, before remembering that she was in her cabin.
Mist Seeker wasn't just in her cabin because of the high tensions on the ship, she also was becoming more and more tired and was trying to keep her stress levels down. In fact, by this point she was sleeping through much of the day to conserve her energy.

It came to pass that the captain's fears were true. A wicked winter storm forced the ship to stop in its tracks. They tied down everything they could and hid below deck, the winds were so bad no one dared to risk going up until the storm passed. The stress of the storm caused Mist Seeker to go into an early labor and she had only one of the ship's mercenaries to help her because the violent crashing of the waves on the ship drowned out her cries. She was lucky in that this mercenary in particular had worked as a kittenbirth healer in her youth, and the kittens were delivered safe and sound.

After the storm finally passed, the ship had a small celebration, keeping in mind the rationing, to celebrate the new life on board. They were able to make it to Medela soon after, a favorable wind in the ship's sails as if in apology for the storm. There, they hired a healer and restocked their food with the last of their funds. Mist Seeker and the kits were all healthy, but the money was all gone.

At that point, several of the ship's crew heard some rumors in the town of Medela. A greedy merchant fleet was charging outrageous prices to carry cargo and they were buying out all the other cargo ships. Some were even saying that the merchant leader was ordering the sinking of any ships that refused. This was very bad news, in more ways than one. It was a threat to the Singing Queen.

Lion Mane offered to take on some cargo for a reasonable fee in order to get some funds back, and then the crew began to plot. In the past they may have simply joined the merchant, but now they were Mist Seeker's ship, although she didn't know yet the hold she had over them because her past had left her unconvinced of her worth and charisma.

After taking the cargo to its destination about a week's travel away, they began gathering information to track down where the leader of the merchant fleet was situated. They followed this routine for several weeks, taking small deliveries and gathering intel, until they pinpointed the general 'headquarters' of the greedy merchant fleet.

They ran up beside the head ship of the fleet under the cover of the night and boarded it, raiding the ship and taking the cargo and funds aboard. While they would later make sure the cargo was delivered to its intended destinations, they kept all of the valuable personal belongings of the cats on board the head ship. Unfortunately, the leader was not on board. They kept raiding the fleet's ships until they found the leader and they made him walk the plank for his greed. They also kept his ship as they had gained many new members on their expedition for justice and didn't have space for all of them. They renamed it the Golden Revenge.

At this point, their financial troubles were firmly over and they realized that they had a new mission. They appointed Mist Seeker as the commander of their two ship fleet and began their new lives of justified piracy, going on to overcome much greed on the Great Sea and save port town from rampaging sea monsters stirred up from the deep.

he watched as the golden lights danced at the back of his mind. eyelids gently flickering closed as the breaths he took shattered in the calm winter air– slowly dwindling into silent wishes.

his head leaned upon the willow tree; soft and delicate in the morning sun. running his paws over the pattern of the bark, a useless attempt to distract himself… to distract himself from his mission.

a mission where he would have to head south.
south where all dangers would come his way.

and this time… he couldn't promise that he'd return.

''hi papa,'' her words seem to rattle the world with her little touch, ''cellostring told me that you were heading south tonight– i thought you said that you wouldn't go anymore.''

a sigh flopped at his lips, ''it doesn't always work that way, kid.'' he offered a shake of his head, ''they said that this would be my last one.'' and the most dangerous one yet.

''pffffffffttttt, '' she wrinkled her nose, ''they always lie, ya know.''

    her words could crumple him.
slowly shatter into fragments of glass.

but he had to not show that… he had to be better. for her.

he managed a slow blink, ''that's not true, kid.'' he tapped the tip of her nose, ''they promised me a job– and they provided, and look. that's where i am now.''

''a really trashy one if you ask me.'' she rolled her eyes, folding her arms. ''you don't even like your stupid job.''

a harsh remark bubbled in his stomach. but he quickly snapped it off with a crooked smile. not meeting her wide blue eyes as she blabbered about a contest at her school– some sort of sweater making competition.

his thoughts drifted off. wishes of staying behind clouding his mind.
pain searing through his stomach as he thought about running away with her.

    no.

he couldn't be reckless like that. she wouldn't even make it there.
they would both be in trouble if they got caught.

a soldier for breaking his oath,.
a child for assisting a traitor.

he couldn't let her spend the rest of her life as that.

he tore himself out of his thoughts at her words.

''papa?'' a paw tapped his back, ''what do you think i should make?''

a smile shattered hidden flakes of remorse racked his face, ''anything, that you want. ''

she frowned at him, eyes taking everything in. ''are you sad, papa?'' she pressed against him, ''i don't want you to go either-–you could help me make a cool sweater. and win!''

    she was ripping everything apart.
    the emotions
    the pain

he couldn't let her see it. not now. so instead he made stupid jokes with her, relishing every single second spent with her. trying to distract her from that one question she always asked. but… of course she did. she always did.

''when are you going to come back from your journey?''

a choked cry rattled his insides, flames of emotions tearing every world apart. ''i… i don't know.''

The disappearance of Freckle and Twist's kits and the two's resulting separation posed a hardship they both endured.
