I stand in the shadows, behind you, beside.

Right next to you; always by your side.

I go unnoticed, except for a laugh, which these days is rare.

Quiet as a breath I watch the others come and go.

Them; coming quickly, leaving quicker.

They care not of you, your heart, your soul.

They leave it broken, torn apart.

Yourself, like a child, does not understand.

Running back to get beaten, again and again.

Guileless, you need direction; but for I lurk in the shadows, oblivious and unknown.
