I am a movement of one person, but I am hoping after a few contests under my belt there will be at least a niche collection of writers on CS QuQ the dream <3 I hope you do end up writing an entry also!

Writing entry:

A creature once stood in silence as he gazed across the valley in wonder. The silver lining of the moon is reflected off the shimmering rye beneath, and the willow reached as if for a warm hug from an old friend. A river ran through what looked like an old village or a mining camp vacated for decades. He felt a chill as he found peace in his loneliness, but an unfulfilled peace which could not be satisfied with his own presence. His eyes grew fixated on a single star in the universe. Not the brightest in the sky, but it stood out to him in ways that only he could understand. He grew sad. The star winked as if to say one last goodbye, and a breeze picked up ever so softly. The creature had found his becomings, not by society’s standards of judgement but by the whispers of Mother Earth. He softly sighed before turning towards the small cabin in the distance he now calls home. ‘Don’t leave it all behind..’ his heart pleads, begging for any absolution to the pain-ridden events in his so called life. But he knows, there is no consoling the agony within. Heated tears rim his deep red eyes, quickly dismissed, and he lets go. Allowing the notable memories drift into the fog stained valley below.

Most days are quiet now. He treads to the window each morning to watch the glassy sunrise kiss the moist dew drops. Breathing life into a broken world, as if nursing its wounds. Occasionally, he feels the sensation of hope coaxing him to smile. He laughs to himself, dismissing the urge to question how a world that has managed to leave him anything but lifeless, still taunts the idea of peace. Filling the days on end with miniscule distractions becomes his favorite pastime. Though, what he has come to enjoy the most is curling up by the fireplace. Watching the flames dance, feeling the warmth lick tenderly at his heels. It’s the only place he feels safe. Losing her was like poison. Infecting the intricacies of his everyday life with despair being the only side effect. Regardless of the suffocating sting in his chest, he has learned to accept it. The love of his life, his reason to breathe, had passed. So, at her request, he finds her in other aspects of his life. The crisp breeze on a too-warm day, the powerful river rapids roaring past. She was every bit as powerful and beautiful. Little by little, what he believes is her presence, heals the scars on his heart. He soon found a sense of belonging among the trees.

Most said it was lunacy. To leave his life behind on the inkling that the wind would “speak” to him. But he didn’t mind. She assured him that he couldn’t join her with her dying breath and plead that he would live on. He knew, with the only part of his rationality remaining, that there was no moving on. With time, he would learn to be content with only the whispers in the trees.

Good question! It's one entry/story per contest, but anyone can enter the next contest and the next and on and on. Even a prior winner can keep entering future contests. I want a space writers can keep coming back to.

As for your "books characters", if they are original characters (you created them or someone else did who will give you permission) you can use them in this contest c: if they are just your favorite book characters, you'll need to save for another contest. If I misunderstood let me know, I get disconnects online sometimes.
