Rarity system updated to add 4 new categories!

After taking some time to look into the changes, i do have to say that this rarity update wasnt what i expected. More rarities and an equal distribution gave me the idea that we would have a better grasp on rarities.

But, a lot of pets have now moved to 'omg so rare' and thats where the grasp of rarities really is needed. Most pets below uncommon were already easily traded and swapped, a change there was not needed. Most pets above VR were not. Now that almost all 08's are 'omg so rare' i feel like we still need a guide on where things fall, which means things will still be very demand based and not rarity based. Pets that have been omg so rare since before the 2012 rarith update now fall with pets thst have just became omg so rare and we have no idea where they sit in relation to each other.

I would suggest a tweak to the categories. It makes no sense to me that all 08's are now in the last rarity catagory, there should def still be some difference in the actual rarest pets and just old pets. Dont get me wrong, i know the older the rarer a pet is, but an 08 cookie dog is in no way as rare as a skelebun.

I wholeheartedly agree with the criticisms that the OMGSR category is now unnecessarily bloated, and this has the opposite of the intended effect of helping users determine their rarity at a glance. Lumping July through Advents together has not refined the rarities of any of those pets at all, and in fact did the opposite - those pets had more accurate rarities before this update. A new user now has less information about the rarity of an MA vs a sunjewel than they did a week ago, and I don't believe that was what the update was intended to do. I wish there was more input used for this.

Agree wholeheartedly. It feels like this has just complicated an already complicated system and made the higher value trading issues we’ve had for years worse. Uncommon and under have always been easy to trade, the extra low rarity groups will just make it more complicated in my opinion. While pushing so many Very Rares into the OMGSR category instead of moving some OMGSRs down to the new extremely rare category or creating a new category above OMGSR has just completely flooded the OMGSR group. Honestly I think rather than making high value trades easier as we had hoped it will likely just lead to many of us with pets OMGSR before the update just locking them away until a new value based guide is created, which is what we hoped the new rarities would help eliminate.

After spending a couple hours reorganizing my trade groups and reading through this thread, I still stand by some of the concerns I voiced on the original thread. Adding 3 low-mid categories has the likely potential to make lower value trades unnecessarily tedious and finicky. It's also now apparent that many people believe that the distribution for 'very rares' and up is even more vague as so many pets moved up to be OMGSRs unexpectedly. This is why I still support more categories for rares as these are notoriously harder trades and carry much higher consequences if you don't know what you are doing. My current recommendation would be to consider removing 'extremely common' and/or 'very uncommon', and to add at least one more rare grouping.

As a side note, I love the new rarity bar displays, but I also agree with the other users who think the red bar for 'rares' and the new pink bar for 'very rares' should be swapped.

i was quite a big fan of this update in theory but in practice i agree with a lot of the criticisms raised previously in the thread, in that it seems like we may have benefitted more from more distinguishments among the higher rarity tiers rather than the lower ones.

the main issue before was it was hard to tell the difference in rarity/value of higher-worth pets, where there was a big difference even among pets of the same rarity, meanwhile for lower-tier pets it didn't matter much to begin with with how broad those tiers were and how generally plentiful and easy to trade a lot of those pets were anyway.

seems like this'll just make trading lower-tier pets even harder as people will be arguing over the worth of a common vs extremely common which wasn't that big to begin with, while also making trading higher-tier pets harder as they're almost all just lumped into omgsr now. i feel like that's the main problem i have now - in the higher rarities, where you have more to lose, there's now more uncertainty than ever.

feel like it might be a step in the right direction but from the looks of it, it doesn't seem to have worked out how a lot of us expected even with the information given prior. obviously you're never going to satisfy 100% of the player-base anyway, and i'm still excited to see how this goes!

reading this thread is very funny and sad at the same time, but seriously the amount of people who apparently completely missed how rarity is calculated and what it means (no it doesn't equal value) and think that i should reflect demand (i wish someone said how they imagine that to be done lol) 🙄 but that's prolly just me as I really dislike when people hate on changes without proposing something better

Under the new system I now have 400+ rare or above pets, which is neat!

However, I now have to redo my trade folders entirely and that's gonna take AGES lmao. I only did 30 pages and I'm already exhausted.

went over all my trade groups (387 pages) yesterday and it took about 6/7 hours, glad i'm done with it XD

100% agree on the above Statements, couldnt have said this any better. I still think we needed this update and for the lower rarities I think the new rarity distribution was successful to get a better understanding of their rarities. But I was literally shocked to see nearly every 2008 pet being omgsr now. How could any 08 Advent Dog be as rare as the skele Bunny or any UR pet? How could a regular adopted Dog from an ocotber 2008 litter be as rare as a sunjewel or moonswirl?
I think at the Higher end of the rarity scale where we needed a more clear rarity distribution, the Update has brought the exact oppsite. I personally most likely wont be Trading any omgsr pets anymore at all, simply because I now have No clue what they are worth compared to others anymore. I do Like the new rarity Display settings and designs, though. Especially the Options to change them.

Personally, for me, I've never really cared about rarity so much and cared more about completing collections. I'd have some pets that I always wondered if they were really rare or if they were actually very rare or above since I don't see those pets as much. Honestly, the new rarity is just a sliding scale and would be easier to trd in my opinion.

My only problem is far is figuring out off-site (FR -> CS) value now and making sure to not mess up my calculations. To me, it is most likely the lower the value, the less I have to add on.
