I have gotten that before, but I think it was a miscommunication. In the instance this happened to me the mod had officially given me a warning (it's still on my account) about something I did (I was kinda wrong, but also not; it was a weird situation) and later we went back and forth in DMs and they informed me that didn't know the context of the post I was warned on or didn't know the context of the message. They seemed apologetic and like there was just lack of communication. I don't think they all think they are better, but I think there is definitely misinterpretation of words when tone indicators aren't in play.

They should give the real stats of the rarity groups.
All numbers of how many of a pet exist so rarity can be based on fact, with demand only being a fraction of a factor because people know that x many more are in circulation.

This is absolutely a good idea to implement to be able to know how many pets are actually available to adopt altogether for each pet and whether they're in the pound or many belong to a specific person (though that may be hard to show). On the other hand though this could also be used by people to hoard those certain low number pets to get extra money and bring up the pricing.

I myself am not necessarily quitting, but just giving my two cents on why I get uninterested/soft quit (aka taking super long breaks which is sometimes due to life, other times due to boredom) or why there aren't an influx of new players. my main reason why I can see others (or myself) quitting is because of the website itself or all the convoluted details of the CS community (which I'll get into in just a bit). when I say "the website itself", i don't mean CS is a horrible place, not at all! everyone (well most tbh) here is very lovely and helpful when any issues arise. though, some of us can admit that the website is a bit outdated. I don't blame CS staff since apparently, as I've seen on this forum, Nick is the only coder, so managing CS is most likely a daunting job. even saying that, some changes should happen to CS. personally, the layout can be a bit confusing (if that's the correct way to word it?) and the forums could be updated. although charming (and something I personally believe what makes CS, CS), the old-style layout might turn new players off, especially younger teens or adults more used to social media websites such as Tumblr, TikTok, etc. I know CS is an adoptable/forum-based game so it should be NOTHING like TikTok, but some slight changes to "modernize" the website might attract new players (?). this just seems more like a reason why new players aren't joining because CS is very much like old forum website that aren't as popular anymore. plus, back in 2013, I felt like CS had way more advertisements, if that makes any sense.

my second point may be a bit more niche and personal, but the modern rarity/trading rules are SO RIDICULOUS. now I've been playing for 10+ years and even me being naive way back in 2015, I sort of understood the rarity and trading rules, and I really enjoyed trading (or helping people with their trades!!). but my god, nowadays I feel like an old lady struggling to access her camera roll when I look at the trading forums or even when trying to make a trade with another player. and I know, there's forums with all the information to learn ALL about CS trading and rarity values, but even as a more "veteran" player who used to having quite a bit of trading experience, I'm even confused, so I can't imagine a new player trying to understand! in my opinion, i think these extreme trading rules can quickly turn off new players or also make them victims to scams since they don't understand all the intricacies of how the CS trading community works.

alas, my sort of rant is over and for now I will continue to hop on for events, monthly pets, and to occasionally chat in forums lol

I have done it. I have officially read through all the pages up to this point, oop. There were a lot of different suggestions brought up within this thread, so I'll only touch on a few points from my perspective.

For those who do not understand the trading system in terms of Horror's list, I am always willing to help you! There are many players on here that frequent the "Is this a fair trade?" thread and the "How much is this pet worth?" thread that are knowledgeable on the subject as well if you're uncomfortable asking a green-named user like me. Just a few that I can name off the top of my head: Lex., keayi, angst, peanuts, BlueEyedKite, etc. No matter how large or small the ask is, I can and will help you. I personally really like Horror's list in comparison to the previous list that was in place. Horror's list is largely based off when a pet changes rarity or what a pets starting rarity was. I can go more in-depth in PMs if anyone is interested in the breakdown. Important to note that moderators and staff in general cannot enforce any trading guides. That would put too many restrictions on users.

If you have a bad interaction with a user while trading, please report it to us! We look into the situation and decide if any action needs to be taken. Bullying and harassment are not tolerated on CS. Additionally, block the user! That will make it so you don't accidentally send them another trade in the future or vice versa. The same can be said for scamming, though it is important to understand what scamming actually is. Scamming is when someone deliberately lies about what they are offering you. For example, if someone sends you a trade claiming their pet is worth more than it is or if someone claims your pet is worth less than it is, then that would be considered scamming.

On a completely different point, I would personally not like having to do daily tasks. I went on hiatus for almost four years during college. I came back to the website and it was like nothing had changed. I could pick up exactly where I left off. I've tried playing FR and other games with daily tasks, but my daily life is already too busy to be dealing with more daily tasks besides washing the dishes, doing laundry, and other random chores haha.

As for staff interaction, most, if not all of us, are on everyday. We let each other know if we're going to be inactive for periods of time. However, it is important to keep in mind that we are adults with different personalities and lifestyles. I, for example, work full-time from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday. Despite all that, I still manage or try to spend at least 2 hours on CS a night. I'll even check it throughout the day when I take my breaks. For warnings, I agree that it can be difficult not knowing the "tone" of it. We're all sitting behind screens, just reading and interpreting messages to the best of our abilities, and that can lead to some upset feelings. I'm sure myself and other staff would agree (not to speak for anyone else, but just from what I've seen) that we never intend to hurt someone's feelings. We have a job to ensure the site's rules are being followed. Getting reprimanded for a simple mistake is not fun for anyone, but it is one of those things where it needs to be done to maintain the site. Even I have been sent PM reminders for accidentally breaking rules, so it can happen to anyone. Every rule in place has some kind of reason for it. If you're ever confused about a rule, please message a staff member or submit a ticket to get some clarification.

That's all my brain can remember at the moment. If I see my name tagged or this post quoted with a question, I'll try and answer as best as I can. Or better yet, just send me a PM. I care about ya'll. We're a community. Let's do our best for CS.

seconding this. i would really love for the stats of pets to be released. i don't understand why we can't know how many of certain pets there are. i personally think it'd significantly help the trading scene on this site, as we will have a better understanding to how many of each pet there are as opposed to just guessing based off demand and supply.

Side note about mods/admin/communication: Internet interactions and the intent behind messages can sometimes be confusing. Someone speaking professionally may sound condescending to an average player, maybe even sometimes rude. I don't think it's typically ever intended to be that way and it's important to remember that mods/admin DO need to keep some layer of seperation between themselves and most players. Gotta be careful about power imbalances and the possibility of forming parasocial relationships (ESPECIALLY when involving younger users!)

Personally haven't had any issues with mods, but I do tend to keep to myself.
