ravens-folklore's suggestion about automated decline messages is the bee's knees tbh

I think a secondary currency system would be nice
You would be able to win it from the proposed minigames that some people have suggested and there could be a daily or weekly cap that resets, keeping it from getting inflated

Not 100% sure what the best use for this currency would be. Maybe you could use it to buy items from the store or maybe there could be some kind of extra collectibles added to the site that function similar to how stamps are

And maybe these collectibles aren't tradable and thus we avoid some of that drama

Idk it's just kinda a thought that might help with user retention

Omg just getting tickets from a theoretical arcade to buy untrable stamps to decorate your signature sounds phenomenal

Maybe stuff like this can be used to engage the community and be a meaningful way for people to earn random pets of certain rarities or they can request certain pets in those rarities even the top winner could choose a store pet?
I am not artistically inclined but using oekaki for some giveaways on a monthly basis, decorating pets on the themes provided with the top 3, it doesnt have to be as drastic or unearned as just dropping more free pets. With cooldowns like 3 months or so before the player can win again so there's a chance at more even distributions?

Also about trade values, every system in any game is new to learn. It's what hopefully encourages people to become engaged. There has been acknowledgement trading is a sore point but it's better to try concrete ideas or specific points other than they can't learn it. Making guides or getting a mod to pin a guide to popular terminology and relatively current exchanges could go a long way

I love the first suggestion. I remember seeing pictures of the cakes, though I'm not sure if it was a little before or after I joined the site. I could totally rock a cake contest now, I think lol. I made my son's 4th birthday ocean/turtle cake and it was awesome! Things like this would be perfect to attract more users, too, if it was advertised somehow on the popular platforms or if (what are they called, TikTokers?) people made videos about their cakes or whatever it was.
lights off

An untradeable currency seems like a good idea. You have to earn it all yourself but everything is still achievable alone and completely free.

angel23456 wrote:No problem. I do think the really large topics should be further divided though into something like Realism/Cartoon, though. There are almost 25,000 pages of Animals/Creatures with no further distinctions on the art subject/style

(You have some pretty artwork, btw. I like your style. And I saw the friendship bracelet editable yesterday! Very cute.)

thank you so much! I've been absolutely thrilled by how much folks are enjoying those bracelets. ^o^ it feels like a community activity at this point, I love seeing what everyone is making with it.

also the further division of different oekaki boards into styles like cartoon/realism/etc seems like a totally valid approach, I could get behind that.

Reminds of like, what they did on the Nintendo 3DS with the 'badge arcade'!

It would be cute and fun and give users something cool to feel proud about without anyone hounding them for trades because they managed to get something rare.

I don't even use stamps and I'd still love to collect them from minigames

another thing i really dislike is people blocking me for NO reason, when i havent even directly interacted with them. its stupid and it gives me anxiety. i tried reaching out to one of them and all i got was a mod message saying i was harassing them. how is me wanting to know a simple reason harassing someone? cs mods are quite un-enjoyable to be around, at least the ones ive had experiences with.

plus i dislike how hard it is to get chicken dollars, ive heard paying doesnt work, plus people just hoard it and dont want to trade.

i'd like to make a post about my personal reasonings as to why i'm really on the "quitting cs" bus. i don't think i'm going to be quitting anymore, but i certainly am not as invested in this game as i used to be. i started playing quite late into the site's lifespan, but it reminds me a lot of games i'd play when i was younger, and i've really enjoyed it because of this. i love the forum aspect of it and i generally just love collecting. but i feel like this game does not bode well to collectors. more often than not, you'll encounter a rude trader that's going to ruin your day and make you not even want to continue trading, and that's not even an exaggeration. and that seems to be something that's happened more often than not to most people. people just starting out the game quickly get discouraged due to how rude the player base can be, and it doesn't seem like much is ever done in regards to these bad apples. there was one user who i traded "incorrectly" according to their rules, because they were out of the way and i could not understand them properly, who proceeded to berate me in my PMs after i explained i was autistic and was struggling to understand their rules due to this. this was one of the dominos that really made me want to quit. i reported the user after blocking them because despite me asking them to leave me alone, they continued pming me. the response i got for the report was basically, this looks like a misunderstanding! i recommend just blocking next time! as if they didn't do anything wrong and that i didn't have a panic attack over the messages they were sending me. i felt like my report was not properly looked into, which hurt me. i also wish the site did not harshly moderate off-site links. i got a warning because i had my etsy shop linked about 3 or 4 links away from my toyhouse link that used to be in my signature on here. the warning also included my location typed directly into the message, which made me personally very uncomfortable. i'd prefer if the system were more like flight rising, in which all off-site links bring you to a page that says these pages are not moderated by flight rising themselves. i understand that CS was a children's game at the start, but i feel they should realize a large majority of their player base are adults now, people who played as children who are now in their 20s. i feel like CS as a whole needs a rule revamp because a lot of it is very strict for no real reason anymore. i also feel as if the admin's communication to this site is very, very, erm. awful. the hacking situation also really made me want to quit. i felt as if we were being talked down to by the lower admins that DID speak out and try to give us an idea of what was going on, as did a lot of other people. i also was a bit upset over the fact these messages that these admins were saying were just posts buried in the forums, when they deserve to be front and center on the front page. many people had no idea what was even going on, or that their accounts could have gotten compromised, and would have otherwise never found out without other users telling them. speaking of the hacking, i also got a warning for commenting "L post" on hacked account's posts. i completely understand that this could have been bad, but i only commented it on hacked account's posts, accounts which later got banned due to being hacked. it was fairly easy to spot an account that was hacked, and it felt a bit insane to me that i was being warned for making a joke against the hackers. it almost felt like the hackers were more important than the normal player base at that moment. i don't know, i have a lot of words about this site. i really do love it and wish i could find joy in it again, but it's so hard to find that spark again. i apologize if any of this seems harsh to the people who run this site, i just want to give my two cents.

This was years ago, so I could be mistaken, but I do believe Tess made an announcement in which she said that she was kind of stepping back from CS. I think it may have been a Q&A where she said that her and Nick made this site for fun and never expected it to get as big as it did and (once again, this was years ago so I could be mistaken) that she was not planning to be super involved, and may have said the same of Nick as well.

I believe there was also an announcement where she clarified that CS was not her or Nick's full-time job and the store pets basically just covered server costs and staff salaries. But again, this was a long time ago. I will look for the post and if I find it I will link it. If I find out I am incorrect about my info I will quote and say so so that no one is left with misinformation

they said this and didn't follow up with anything about handing the site over to other staff ? are they lettin it run free ??

Feels like it.

It's frustrating cause it seems like Tess and Nick still want complete control but refuse to actively engage. See: Other suggestions threads where this is the response:

Seasonal wrote: -snip-

Another issue is that many suggestions have already been denied by Tess, so all we can do as staff is parrot this information to you. I don’t think that denied suggestions should necessarily be set in stone, but regular staff can’t offer anything more since we do not have the power to do so. I know that my title has admin in the name but I have zero control over what is implemented; that falls solely on Tess and Nick. -snip-
