hi! i'd like to put my own input in, as i've been trying to make myself heard for over a month now. i'm super relieved that this thread was created.

i've been a player since 2016 and have pretty much grown up with this website! from a young pre-teen to an adult, i've seen so many changes in the playerbase- both, good and bad. this was a special haven for me when i was young, and the pet-collecting side of this website was almost a dream to myself when i was a child. the playerbase was really kind and active in 2016, and even continued to go strong for several years afterwards. i had older users help me get on my feet when i was first starting and it was fun to constantly search the constantly active threads to find things to do. unfortunately, the playerbase has drastically dwindled down since then, and i feel as if it is increasingly more difficult for new users to join. the trading system is so difficult to get into (i have even given up on my dreamie because i simply cannot get myself up to reach the demand of the raven), and the staff have only pushed me further into this uncertainty on this website i once held so dearly.

and that's the note that concerns me the most: one thing that i've always noticed over the years is a divide between the staff and the userbase. it's especially evident in the suggestions thread, as no matter how many threads are created, only a small fragment of them are genuinely implemented even if they are simpler- simply because nick is our only coder and the suggestion to hire more coders has been ignored with all of the others.

and as the initial thread stated, it isn't until anarchy is created that something is genuinely done. which.. is such a sad thing, really. why does it have to be that we need to do something drastic to get the attention of the mods?

in 2020, the sell chicken smoothie thread was created for the same line of problems that we're facing now. the mods insisted that they would be less transparent and implemented mid-month updates and rarity updates, but it's clear to me that this isn't enough.

it took another sell/giveaway cs thread (though done through a breached account by one of the recent hackers) just to get something as simple as a PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT. we made thread upon thread asking for so much as an announcement on what was going on, but what we ended up with was locked threads and being swept under a rug. it was only through the word of the playerbase that people genuinely began to learn what was going on, because nothing was being said from the mods.

so overall, yes, this site is dying. yes, something has to be done. even before this event, we are averaging only 100-300 users a day. the front page is so slow on some days just because there aren't enough typing on them, and it went from new posts every few seconds to minutes in between. sometimes it almost just feels so.. silent. like most of the people on here have left. it isn't the same, and though i hate to cause anarchy, it's unfortunately the only way we can make ourselves be heard. more and more people are quitting, while many accounts are just sitting vacant. it's really unfortunate to see my childhood site rotting away because those in control are turning a blind eye to their playerbase.

regardless of if this gets locked, i'd like to emphasize that we shouldn't let ourselves get silenced. i insisted this on the transparency thread: we, the playerbase, are the ones who hold the true power. i just hope something is done in the end.

even typing this i had this pop up... weird.

I would be happy to have re-release pets more often, however as someone like me who is autistic and likes my collections in order, having the different dates is infuriating and I would just send up trading every one I get. That is if I could even get trades for them.

i think something like a second dec 18 rerelease is honestly needed at this point. the amount of high demand rare pets grows with each year that passes, and while one rerelease a year may have been enough a few years ago, i feel like it basically does nothing anymore to actually up the number of these pets that r in circulation. even if it's just one more earlier in the year i think it would help a lot.

making friends is hard, just clicking to adopt pets is boring, nobody wants to rp, trading is a nightmare.
the only thing that i think encourages ppl to log on and STAY are events like the one going on rn. so much more activity near the events. i esp like this one with the little minigame they introduced.
ik events take a lot of time and effort to plan esp with the asmount of pets the aritsts need to make but what if they made more frequent, longer events. and instead of centering it around collecting pets (which would get old and be overworking for artists) they come up with these fun little minigames or contests or like just more story based things that keep ppl around. more interactive stuff basically

agree. absolutely any activities would be so welcome

I def think switching from a “log on every month to click and gets pets if you care enough” type site to a more active interactive site is the only way to not only keep this site alive but to attract more users and generate more revune (which would then hopefully get the staff to care more)

I just saw someone reply to my post saying a live chat would be fun AND I AGREE SM!! that would actually be so cool to have a chat room

this does sound like a fun idea!! live chat would be a lot harder to moderate though,,

seeing people finally have the same views on me when it comes to trading feels so nice LOL i also just see a rare as a rare no matter what year it came from. no matter what year the omgsr is from there is still only 1 pet per 1000 people on the site.

i also dislike it when people hoard super rare pets.. it feels so.. idk how to put it :( . saddening? not sure. im bad at wording things..

i kind of really hope staff will listen. i love this site so much. i just wish older players would be nicer.

i do see the point on having older accounts have their pets be sent to the pound but if i was that player i would be so mad coming back and seeing all my pets i worked so hard on ages ago just gone without my consent. so its probably not the best idea.. but i see and understand the point

IMO what sucks the most is that if you can get rare pets as a new player is based almost entirely on speed. The pound, player giveaways, etc, are almost always first come first serve. I’ve gotten lucky a few times, as well as from Dec 18, but the thing is, I would never trade any pets I got from that. I’d never get them back. Though my account is from 2015, I only played for two months, and actually started seriously during 2021 Christmas. I just don’t have squat to trade.

I also think it's quite overwhelming in general to start out- there's all these links and such to go over and that can def put off anyone who has low energy and/or a young child.
Also the economy is... interesting lol. There's a lot of emphasis on CS dollars and MAs and rares and such so it can feel a little impossible to progress. I can understand those types of things in art shops bc it's basically like paying a person (I personally try to make my art shop affordable to anyone with pets but that's just me personally) but in other things it can be...overwhelming.
That's all, sorry!

Absolutely! I can only imagine how intimadting it is to start out on CS with so many years of the site already behind us. I would just manage your expectations for now. Focus on collecting the pets from this month, then last, then from the year you joined, and so and on so forth slowly making your way backwards. You do not have to understand MAs or whatnot or even try to get every pet. Just figure out what it is you want to do and have fun! Not all users are mean and scary, and you'll eventually find your niche. :^)

To be fair, it’s also hard as a long time player. I’ve been here for almost 10 years and have only obtained certain goals due to extremely generous players giving them as gifts for user-run events. Trading is really not fun like it used to be.

More coders, more archivists. I think it would be so helpful.
I feel like more engagement from staff is also needed. The instagram account is awesome, I’d love to see more like that.
