this. this is where im stuck.

The best course of action that I've found is to use an ad-blocker and to refrain from buying c$, without money the site can't really do much. WE make running the site possible in the first place.

this could work but would they care? how would we spread the word?
I mean, in life the best way to get recognition in the world is to stop supporting a company/cause monetarily. Money makes the world go round. Maybe stamps can be made, or just sig buttons with [get an ad blocker!] or [don't buy c$]. I'm not really sure, but I mean spreading the word to those you know is a good start.

HUGE agree with twili & tired above
the censorship is wild, i feel like "off-topic" posts are cherrypicked to use as a scapegoat JUST to close the threads just because they don't want to deal with the userbases concerns? At least that's might be how the higher ups see things.
so many aspects of this site make me upset in terms of the way it's run, and I feel like overtime they're just going to outnumber the pros until most people just leave. sites like CS have been on the decline for YEARS, unless CS fixes its relationship with its userbase and fixes other sitewide issues, it's just going to continue.

i hope this makes sense, i'm a bit frazzled after todays RO TOT
everything is moving so fast yet slow

and yes @tiredddd
the admins are rarely ever seen around the site, same with admin assistants. It's weird how the lower ranking staff are on MORE often while the higher ranked staff are hardly around
I get people have lives but it seems ? not balanced

the thing is, with the money that does get put into cs, aren't most of their open positions usually unpaid?

i would kinda get why the staff wouldn't be putting in their all when they usually aren't getting compensated for the time spent on the site, i'm not sure exactly which and how many staff are unpaid though so i could just be spitballing

this is why im mainly blaming the admins for not caring, people in lower positions dont really have control over it

could we like ... mass email them or something ? 😭 it's non offensive & a more gentle way of "spamming" without cluttering the forums with petitions n such. petitions in the signature will probably do nothing

Artemystery wrote:I did this for a vent but it definitely applies. (this is for 2018 pets, current rares are even higher because each added year is 2^x)

1 non ≈ 100 2009 rares
1 ‘09 rare = 2 ‘10 rares (personally i dont necessarily subscribe to that but whatever, it makes the math easier if 1 rare = 2 rares from the following year, so it’s logarithmic)

1 2009 = 2 ‘10 = 4 ‘11 = 8 ‘12 = 16 ‘13 = 32 ‘14 = 64 ‘15 = 128 ‘16 = 256 ‘17 = 512 (five hundred and twelve) 2018 rares

a non is 100x 2009 rares

that’s 51,200 2018 rares.

i once saw that calculation on someones trade rules, it was the first time seeing it and the shocking part is that they were genuine. no one ever stops to ask why this png of a bunny is truly worth half a billion other pngs.

I also personally prefer the look of newer pets, I love the newer artists that joined the team in the last few years. I trade based on how much I like the design of a pet, so it was jarring to get multiple trades from DIFFERENT people, asking for dozen on top dozen of rares+extra rare pets for a singular older pet of theirs.
i hope the staff actually read all of this, at the very least to be aware people care and want to see a change.
I just wanna say I agree on this especially with the camping event! Newer pets look so clean and nice. The pets from the camping event have been amazing on top of already astounding. Every day I look forward to seeing what is out next because the quality of these pets and how they look seem like so much detail and attention and love was given to them (THIS ME SAYING PROMOTE/TIP ALL THE ARTISTS WHO HELPED WITH THE EVENT THEY EARNED ALL OF MY RESPECT). This isn't me saying older pets didn't have this, but the unique line design and quality has gone up A LOT. I understand if someone wants to pay 100,000 newer pets for an '09 pet, but I also get someone who isn't about that and would rather just keep those 100,000 pets to keep up to date as time continues.

this is why i pointed out how frustrating & helpless it feels on here.

when threads like this get traction it always ends up being locked and swept under the rug.
when there's a mass quitting, nothing happens.
we we ask politely for change, nothing happens.

it's why i have no expectations for this sites health anymore. just a little hope that there's still some love left

exactly.
and if this thread gets locked/ deleted i can garuntee that i will put it back up

Expect a sternly worded message from a mod though saying you're "repeating things" or your protests are "unnecessary."

I'm an organizer in the real world and I'll say right now that one of the surest signs you're dealing with something / someone / an organization as a whole that is resistant to change is that they'll be a constant "appeal to process." This happens like this -

1. Person complains about x
2. Someone who supports or benefits from x appeals to a "policy" or "rule" or "guidelines" in order to shut discussion down. This person NEVER says that they personally support or benefit from x or talks about their own feelings on the matter or explores them with the complainer.
OR
If a "policy" or "rule" isn't in place, the person and peoples who like and benefit from a specific order of things (business as usual) just create a policy/rule that would shut down the complainer.

Instead of acknowledging that such rules are made by the same people who may like the way things are running, rules are treated as some strange abstraction, like the result of a natural order instead of something that was actively created usually by the people who benefit from those same rules. It's like a strange gaslight and leaves the complainer disempowered.

This is how things like censorship of complains keep going. Appeal to process. Find excuse to close a thread within rules that could easily be changed and are often upheld by direction anyway. Repeat process.

Edit: I'm guessing to stop people from collectively doing something, this thread will be locked and people will be told to "use the suggestions forum" instead, which has rules that easily shut down collective action.

I'm in the same boat, even as an older player the MA and Non system has been quite a severe shock and because of missing time in-between I fell farther back compared to a lot of people in the same time frame, and even fairness doesn't get very far anymore when it passes the threshold of old store pets and 09' pets. I also don't believe in giving someone 100 09' rares for a single item. It's both unfair for new players and older players with less pets and it makes dreamies feel even more just that, just an impossible dream locked behind 500 2009 pets that you'd need to gather up for even a chance to trade.

I never supported this and I remember when it used to actually be fair and easy and even trading for Warrior Cats was more fair albeit the possibility of 2 09' rares for demand but not 100+

I love this site dearly but trading feels like a waste of time when many feel entitled to half your pet collection for one pet or one item.

mike ehrmantraut wrote:I really think the main issue I've had with the site for a while is how beginner unfriendly trading can be. Like people have said with not understanding the concept of MA's or list pets, it's all just set up in a really weird way. Even after almost 6 years of playing, I still don't understand most of it.
In order to understand trading, you have to be experienced which can cause unpleasant encounters for new traders if they have a poor grasp on worth.

I kind of take issue with being encouraged to go off of worth 'guides' when there's so many factors that go into trading. Not to mention all the different guides, which makes everything confusing and messy when you're getting different advice from different people. Every player has a different pair of eyes and may not value a certain pet the same way others do. With appearance particularly.

I don't have an issue with the existence of guides themselves, but rather the people who treat them like gospel, despite being completely unofficial.

When it comes down to the fairness of a trade, I think it can be subjective. Maybe you would accept 40 rare horses from 2009 in exchange for one very rare dog, but another person probably wouldn't. It's fair to the first person, but unfair to the other, because they both perceive the trade differently with their own interests in mind. And when it comes down to that, the guides mean nothing.

I don't think any of that made sense but that's how I see it lol.

this might be speculation, but part of the reason i like the trading and got it so quickly is bc im interested in trading and stocks in the real world. i dont participate in it, but i enjoy the theory behind it.
but not everyone might enjoy trading for that reason, whenever theres an event i know the best way to max rare pets I get, it uses a lot of different tactics and different forums and types of trading, which i personally enjoy, but a player who might get only the pets they like and play more... casually... might not stock up on rares that can be later used to be traded for older rares they might like. its not a thing most people think ahead for when just starting.
it might be discouraging for new players to look back and feel regret for not getting every rare they can to try and trade for an older rare they want.
