It takes as long as it does, because our team needs the time for drawing all pets/items, backgrounds, write the story and all dialogue, program it, dress up NPCs... and this year it just so happens to not start yesterday/today. ^^
Why doesn’t it have a set time frame though? Wouldn’t that make it easier for …. Everyone? The artist know it’s coming , the coders know it’s coming, it’s been proven in a work place That people who have an end date/goal , typically do better , and provide better. Procrastination is strong in the human species.
The people would be happier, because the guess work is nothing but frustrating . This this year for example I was very excited knowing that I had most of this week off and this was typically when the event started - now knowing it likely starts next week , I work 5 of the first 7 days. That wouldn’t have been avoided if there were a set date, but since it is so up in the air it is very frustrating. It would have been much less frustrating , and disappointing if I had known.
Again, this event has been running 5 + years we see the same problems pop up every year. People miss the event starting , people are frustrated , it’s not a ‘fun’ surprise at this point. .. there should be a set time frame for everyone’s benefit.
