From 2012, this was when the OMG so common rarity was invented, they had the rarity changed from counting all pets to only counting active pets AND they added the coloured rarity bars <3

Small thing to add :) I think once all store pets were updated to have a little "C$" tag on them, If I guess I would say around 2016??? Now in the old news posts, old store pet images aren't there. Just want to point that out!

i remember when they got the tags!! not the exact year lol but still,,,
i believe they were added to help users easily identify a normal vr/r vs stores :)

I did want to add a bit about the Custom sunjewel but couldn’t find information or a link to the pet sadly:(

I remember the dragons thing in Easter 2023, my post was one that got deleted lol! I totally understand why CS staff did that, as it wasn’t meant to be released quite yet. I still have messages with the User who got the dragon asking how the heck they got it, lol! I believe the early releases dragon(s?) were deleted or else I’d link the pet and write about it

There was a 2012 Halloween giveaway, I have the bwolf consolation prizes. Now I remember I was super disappointed I lost I wish staff did more fun things like that. Candy from staff? Whut!!

I was howling at the original Malk lines xD omg! They did look like that. I remember being sad the owls were changed because the old style felt more whimsical to me.

This thread also made me nostalgic for more active admin. CS staff can have all the ideas in the world but unless Nick/Tess approve it/make it happen the ideas don't materialize. Back when Nick/Tess were as active as other users we got more random and fun interactions like custom items + contests + physical merch. We (the users) aren't as large as the heyday of pre 2011 but we are a loyal bunch and would participate in more than they'd think if given the chance!

Agreed! Chicken smoothie has lots of user activity spikes during events, specifically December 18th. I think that would be a great time to announce the possibility of future contests, events, merch etc. If they ever were to try to do such things again. It would reach a lot more users than a post during a non event would I believe.

Another idea is setting up a contest discussion thread if one was ever hosted. This allows users to discuss it and with a eye catching title it can reach lots of passing by users.

It would be great to see some more interactive things on CS like we did in the past:)

gosh i remember the merch store but at the time i wasnt old enough or like. aware enough to buy them. maybe i thought theyd be back in stock or something. idk but as a sticker collector i missed out mannn ;-;

you know you're old when you recognize most of these entries... in any case, this is a fabulous idea!!
there's so much cs history lost to time now. i very clearly remember trade rant threads, where you'd, well, rant about whatever nasty trade you got lol. i also don't know if this is worth mentioning, but since it is a cs history post, i'll try; there's a user on the site whose username escapes me, but apparently they unfortunately passed away and now have a bmd forever-puppy on their page. it's the only one of its kind, as it's the 2nd growth stage of the bmd without the PPS tag. iirc, it was a gift from the admins. very heartbreaking but wonderful at the same time. <3
maybe you could also mention when registering first opened in 2008 and how tess and the rest had to haul ass to give everyone's pets on their accounts, since they were all offs at first.
can't think of anything else, but keep up the great work! i'll be sure to revisit this forum. <3
