[300+ SUPPORT!] Make rereleases better/more rereleases

[Bernie Sanders voice] I am once again voicing my support for this idea.

On the trading side of things, I have literally never seen activity this low on the site in... oh god I'm old, nearly 14 years of being here on and off. The fair trade thread goes days and days with the same 5 people asking about the same trades and no answers, the trading board has 5-10 people online at any given time and the same threads at the top day in and day out, I get 1-2 trades per day when actively bumping my thread, and I see at most 600 people online total at primetime every night. That's usually if the pound is about to open. The difference from how it was just a couple years ago is stark, and that's quite worrying to me.

In the mid-year slump between advent events, we could really use a boost to the trading economy and general activity on the site. I know the team puts a LOT of work into the summer vacation each year but nothing can compete with the pull of a rerelease and imo, throwing one in with that event would be great for the site, encourage participation in the event, and help relieve some of the insane pressure in the trading economy right now. I have to imagine that a lot of people have grown bored and quit out of frustration or apathy as the environment has become more competitive and stagnant. Seriously, high end trading is a complete bore these days.

On that same note, I see a lot of folks quitting and selling their whole accounts for currency on Flight Rising or other "old school" pet sites/forums. That says to me that this is exclusively a CS problem, and it needs help ASAP.

@Takami throw in on the oekaki side it's abysmal as well. I used to be able to scroll the recent oekaki and there would be a new drawing every refresh, yet a few days ago there were the same drawings... for all of that day! Nothing new. I have never seen that and I've been here since 09.

Not to mention the oekaki closed species community gets barely any activity :c art is low across the board.

I've also seen an uptick in USD art. This tells me artists are leary of accepting CS currency for their artwork. I can't blame them.

Please do something extreme CS staff T.T

Yep, that's definitely worrying... I figured it was probably the case but I haven't been involved in the oekaki for years. Trading and art boards are the lifeblood of CS, if neither is doing well then it's a pretty good indicator of the site's health. Something drastic definitely needs to be done to draw both crowds back - honestly, a second rerelease probably isn't even enough, but it's better to have a bandaid fix than nothing at all.

This was an interesting thread to read. At first I was against the idea as December 18th seems special and the old pets are hard to attain for a reason. But I agree that the website traffic has slowed since ‘17 when the last highest login was on the 18th.

My mind has changed and I agree that maybe some time of other rerelease during the year or at the same time as the 18th could spice up the economy and get people trading/less scared to hold on to their collection (lol @ me hardly wanting to let go of anything)

I think I was against this originally because... well I don't even know. I recently looked at ALL of the VRs and there is just too many. Even with just three boxes one day, it doesn't do the justice it should.

I voted for another release day, probably around June. June is a month that we don't have any events, so there's not going to be as many people active. This could be a way to get people active during June again!

This would help with the spread of older pets, since most of them are stuck in old accounts.

I've seen conversations about this and URs no longer being included in complete collections, and it's clear the site staff don't actually care what we want.

I love most of the CS staff but it does seem that any changes are few and far between. Most of the older staff seem to shut things down without even seeming to understand that a lot of users want the change. I've seen it happen a few times already.

I don't think that's true. Communication could definitely be better and it would be nice to see more frequent responses to player feedback, but Lacuna did (somewhat) recently respond to a thread in this forum addressing some common criticisms of the site.

I totally understand the frustration, but I do think that the staff generally try their best to do right by the userbase. Broad, sweeping changes take a lot of internal discussion, potentially months worth, and we aren't privy to that for obvious reasons. It doesn't mean they're ignoring us.

Anecdotally, I do some work for a small indie game and we basically can't mention anything regarding our own thoughts or discussions on player feedback because folks will take anything said by someone in a somewhat official position as a confirmation and run with it, forcing us into a very awkward situation. I feel like it's probably similar for CS staff.
