Something's up with the pound

just read through the whole thread to see all the thoughts here. i agree with the randomizing of the order of pets, as well as partially agreeing with the whole "remove the visible dates until you adopt the pet" plan. however, i don't think it will do any good anyways for hardcore players, as they can memorize what the rares look like FAR better than newer players, even with how many rares there are. I also don't get why so many people on the thread are disappointed in the fact that people want the rares? One of the biggest parts of this website is trading, and rares from the pound have personally helped me immensely with trading up to my dreamies. So yeah, of course people who want to make use of trading and get a free boost here or there will spam refresh and click the oldest pet.

i think the biggest issue is people being stingy with trading pets rn (in my experience) even with perfectly fair, or even slight overtrade offers, hoarding rares/vrs/list pets/store pets, and a lack of circulation of pets, but thats for another topic.

I've noticed this too, I think it's because of the discord bots that notify people when the pound is about to open

The discord bot is literally just a timer. You go on CS, see that the Pound says it’ll open in 20 minutes, then you go to discord and tell the bot to remind you in 19 minutes to get back on. Then you just wait until it opens like everyone else.

I'll state that I am a collector. I don't hoard pets per say, but I am looking to get as many pets I missed as I can. I had a huge hiatus from mid 2013 to mid 2018. It is really hard to get pets from those times, let alone rare pets. So I'm always excited to see a chance at getting one in the pound and groan when it is snatched away instantly.

I figure the pound is really my only chance at getting rare pets, so I do go in with high expectations.

When I end up on a common pet it is okay. It adds a pet I didn't have, but I still hope for rare pets.

So how about tonight's Pound incident? People who were there know that I of course mean the crash. The whole site broke as soon as the Pound opened for some strange reason. There apparently weren't even any particularly super-high-demand pets being given out for this opening either, so it's even more strange

What are everyone's thoughts on that? Do you see it as just a random hiccup, or a sign that the Pound still needs some adjustments?

I can't prove it, but I wonder what is there to stop someone using a VPN, set up a bot to refresh and open one of the "adopt me" buttons, then have alt accounts wired the same way choosing a different spot? I hope that can't happen, but I've seen pets adopted in the millisecond space between refreshing by holding F5 and I feel no human has that fast a reflex.

I really can't see anything in that image because of the blurriness and the glare, though I am thinking if what you are referring to is how dragoncave "trading" used to work. Is the page url after an adoption generally the same?

1. More pets should be added.

-- It closes very quickly. Even if I'm late by 1-2 minutes, there are usually only 200-400 pets left.

2. Make it harder for people to possibly exploit the site.

-- Not sure how this would be implemented, but maybe make users check a captcha to be sure that it's actually a human doing the adopting. I fully believe that people can and do use exploits to get the rarer pets in the pound. Not only would it give players an equal playing field, but it would prevent the use of bots that might exist to exploit the system.

I will click the traffic lights or slide some puzzle pieces if it means the pound doesn't close so quickly. I am terrible at typing in the jumble of words, though I am indeed a human.
