"Inverted kin, also known in short terms as "Inverkin", are strange magical entities recently seen appearing around the university of Alchemy. They seem to be creatures that exist in a plane outside of our own, made form by the strange new magics being studied on the university's grounds. While a true explanation for their existence hasn't been established by the local scholars, they don't seem to pose a threat to those around them, and they seem to appear as a direct translation of certain magical spells that either attract or create them.

While some are intelligent of the world around them and can interact with sentient beings, others seem to be purely shades with no real personality or attributions. They may take multiple forms, and while there are some commonalities and reoccurring entities, new ones are consistently being recorded.

One thing uniform among them is that when they form, they quickly attach to individuals and follow them. Scholars of the university are requesting willing participants to take on the task of studying and reporting back on their companions.

Rules of ownership:
✦ Inverkin are primarily free, contests may be raffled, first come first serve, or require a small prompt
✦ There may be LIMITED sales (With a MAXIMUM 3 free/1 sale ratio intended); this may not be 100% exact but it is the intent
✦ You may gift/trade/readopt/sell your Inverkin, however you must own them for at least 2 weeks before trades/sales are permitted. (Gifting may be done at any time).
✦ You may sell/trade for any price: however you MUST disclose that the adopt was free. If it is suspected you are abusing free adopts for profit only you will not be permitted to adopt more.
✦ Inverkin will never be revoked/taken away in case of banning, you simply won't be able to obtain more.
✦ Inverkin are NOT closed species. You are welcome to make your own on your own bases/lines. Official ones are just considered "Canon", and are on the official sprites. Non-official are considered Non-canon. Non canon aren't in the archive, but you CAN use them for events/ to earn any currency as applicable.
✦ Because Inverkin are not a closed species; you can make your own inverkin adopts. However-adopts not made by staff are not considered official
✦Canon Inverkin cannot be co-owned for archive purposes. Non-canon CAN be co-owned (since they are not archived)
✦You may use your inverkin's officialart/sprite in whatever way you please, just make sure to credit the artist(s) applicable.
✦They may be uploaded to toyhouse/treated like characters/drawn other art of if you would like, OR you can just treat them as decoration.
✦You can change your inverkin in any way you like; or remove them from the species as long as they follow the 2 week cooldown. Because they are small- you can also interpret their designs to your liking. Changes to official art are not permitted without appropriate edit items, however.

✦ Upon purchase/winning an adopt, you will receive the shaded/effect file, along with a flat color file so as to see the markings/ect better.
✦Each person may only obtain one adopt max per batch. Please do not edit your post. You may make a new post to change your chosen adopt if you miss a claim.
✦Any special restrictions will be listed on the individual adopt.

"Inverkin come in many forms. While you are free to choose their mannerisms and personalities and all are very different...they do have some things that seem to come with each species.

Inverkin can come in four types; that may evolve into other types of Inverkin under the proper circumstances....
Slumbering are first stage inverkin that haven't realized their power or true manifestations yet
Dormant are second stage inverkin that have potential; but are still weaker and more fragile than most
Woken are standard inverkin
Aspired are special inverkin that have broken the limits of their typical forms and reached their highest potential"
