Getting comfortable is easy enough. Snuggling down somewhere warm and cozy with a drink and maybe a snack within reach is the easy part. It's the staying comfy that's the hard part sometimes. Oh sure it's comfy in one position for a while but after a while, the body just starts kicking up a fuss for a leg to move and be placed just so. Cherry really struggles sometimes and he hates it because he just wants to be comfortable so he can sit and read.

Somedays a loaf is the perfect position and he can stay like that for hours and others it's no good within an hour or under! Some days are honestly better than others in regards to getting comfy and staying that way. While some are horrible and no matter what he does it's like nothing is good enough for his brain to say yes to. Those are the worst kinds of days and they leave the Skittykyu feeling frustrated and upset (he gets himself into such a state.)

When the ultimate comfy is achieved it is pure bliss and he will lose himself in the book. Only taking breaks for a drink or snack before diving back into the book and enjoying what it holds for him.

That day wasn't very interesting but the book Cherry had brought with him was more than enough to make up for the dullness of the day. He was getting to a particularly interesting part, the protagonists true identity had just been revealed and those around him were furious. When the all too familiar feeling of gotta shift because no longer comfy started pestering him. Cherry hissed angrily and desperately tried to continue reading before the feeling grew too much to bare and he yowled angrily before standing up in a huff.

He took some time to move about and try and bully the feeling back into submission before going back to the beanbag and curling up in a tight ball. With his brain behaving again it was back to the book and seeing what was going to happen next, he was all too eager to keep going. More than happy to stay there all day.
Unless I post somewhere, I'm not selling/trading closed species critters.

Pokémon: Kasey (with an Apollyon cameo)
Prompt:
One would probably never expect this cool, stealthy lizard to be a bookworm, but when Kasey isn't on duty, she's a bit of a nerd. Some of her favorite genres are mystery, horror, sci-fi, and fantasy, but she can also be found reading academic textbooks just for fun. Biology, especially human biology, is the most fascinating subject in her opinion. Being very obviously not a human, she always wants to know more about people, and she tries to find similarities between people and Pokémon. One of her biggest questions is why humans aren't able to use moves, though it should be obvious, she's never really found a concrete answer besides "Cause they're humans, duh."
Kasey isn't too picky about where she reads, but she does prefer a quiet, calm environment. As much as she enjoys learning about people and Pokémon, she's not fond of actually being near them, especially not the ones that have lots of energy. She doesn't consider herself antisocial- she has formed a few friendships with other Pokémon, though they're all the quiet type like herself. If she is reading with her friends, she'll often point things out in her books that are interesting or funny, and sometimes those conversations can get so involved that she forgets she's supposed to be reading a book. That's why she prefers being alone at libraries- she knows she'd get herself kicked out if she brought her friends along.
Kasey's trainer Mal has considered sending her off to the foundation they work for to do research there, but she insists that she'd much rather be by her trainer's side. Besides, if she left, she would never get the chance to try and befriend Apollyon, a goal she's had since she was first caught. There are not enough books in the world to teach Kasey why Apollyon acts the way it does, the Type: Null's personality is almost as mysterious as its origin. The only thing Kasey has found that might help her is a book of Alolan history, from the beginning of time to the present day. Being from Galar originally, Kasey knows very little about Apollyon's home land, but she is eager to learn.

Pokemon Used: Bob (DV#106), 808 (#404), Kairos (DV#300)
Prompt: 450 words!
Its far easier for some pokemon to get immersed in their reading compared to others. Were you to ask 808 to read, you would find yourself trapped in a neverending battle of trying to get him to shut up-- he reads aloud, you see, and this is hardly a good trait to have when he practically blares every sentence inside the library.

It was for this exact reason that Bob had elected to put a soft ‘ban’ on the entity entering the library-- unlike xer ‘companion’, the Espeown knew far better. After all, Bob had no voice with which to properly speak. Being mute had its perks at times, as rare as they were, and being unable to be accused of ruining the reading experiences of others was certainly counted among them.

However, this still raised the question of HOW exactly Bob intended to become comfortable in this unfamiliar environment. Libraries were like a second home for xer at least, and if there was one thing xe had learned after all of these times…there were always spots in libraries for xer to hide away in.

So perhaps it came as little shock to anyone when xer son Kairos came looking for xer…that Kairoz had some immense difficulties locating the Espeown. The sight that he would gaze upon once he finally found his father figure, however, would be something to behold and never forget.

It appeared that the creature carried a thin silk veil for this exact purpose. In one of the far off corners of the library, tucked between two somewhat dusty shelving units sparse with books…was Bob. The silk had been trapped underneath some books on either side, keeping up and allowing it to drape over the empty space between.

Underneath the makeshift ‘palace’ laid Bob, legs tucked in underneath xer and a cozy book simply floating in front of xer. Xer orbs glowed vibrantly as xe used his telepathy to hold his current obsession in front of his singular ocular, the only audible noise being the occasional turning of the page.

Kairos paused at the sight, unsure of what to do. He couldn’t possibly disturb Bob like this, right?

…right?

The next time someone came to look for Bob, they’d find an unusual sight. A little Eevee fusion tucked in the nooks and crannies of the Espeown’s side, curled up and listening to what appeared to be a silent reading session. It was silent to all but them.

Being mute had its perks…but being able to tell a story without speaking a word? Sometimes that was even better. Bob was getting better at this whole dad thing…just don’t tell xer that. Let them enjoy their books in peace.

I absolutely love snakes & dragons, and am always happy to receive them.
I'm also always happy to get new scenery items and King Costumes.

Pokemon Used: Shifara, the Fennekin
Prompt: [362 words]
Shifara gazes around the library in awe. There are so many colorful books lining the shelves! She notices that a new shipment had just been put away as well. While she may not look it, Shifara loves to read a few various genres of books. It is fascinating to her to learn all she can, whether fact or fiction.

Her tail swishes back and forth in excitement just thinking about all the wonders this place holds. Her tail almost knocks over the globe that is placed at the end of one of the bookshelves. After it wobbles precariously for a bit, she takes a few steps forward so that her tail is not within the range of the globe, just to be safe. She takes a few deep, calming breaths to regain her focus and calm her excitement.

First, Shifara reads over the plaques that detail each of the sections within. She spends a moment thinking of which books she is keen on reading today. She browses the shelves in the "myths and lore of the region" section before taking a couple that sounds interesting. Then she moves to one of the fluffy bean bags the library has dotted around. She places her small stack of lore and mythology books into a fanned-out stack, making it so she can see each title still. She settles into the chair, taking in the high quality of comfort that it provides. Thankfully she is still full of energy and not feeling tired, or else she might end up taking a nap because of how cozy the seat is. Her tail curls happily around her body in a relaxed state. She has to be conscious of it flicking out so that she doesn't knock down any of the books from the shelves.

Once she is settled, she scans her selection, trying to decide which to read first. She finally settles more on the lore side so that she can learn about the history of the region and the Pokemon before she goes into the myth side and the theories and stories that surround them. She lets the hours pass as she is captivated by the books.

Pokemon Used: Baffle
Prompt:

When the shipment of books arrived, Baffle was beside himself with excitement. Books were one of his favorite things in the world, and he loved everything about them. The feel of their pages, their smell, the weight of them in his hands... so much better than those electric thingies with a screen or a book on tape. Baffle smiled, looking about himself. Things were coming together nicely! Only trouble was... where to begin?! He'd never seen so many books in his life - even his own collection was nothing compared to this... this... veritable mountain of literature! He almost wanted to do a dance.

But he supposed it would be more useful to get everything inside first. Then he'd track down the librarian and ask how they'd like the shelves to be stocked. What section went where. After all, each library had its own layout. And Baffle didn't want to blindly stock things in the wrong places!

It was the work of a few short minutes to haul all the crates inside, and Baffle piled them neatly in the atrium, Teams had been busy over the past few days and the old grandness of the Library was really beginning to shine through the layers of time. All the trash and dust had been removed, the webs swept from the rafters. Fresh panes had been fitted into all the windows, and the lights overhead shone brightly. There really wasn't a whole lot left to do now! Baffle chose a crate at random and pried it open, gazing in awe at the books contained within. He wondered vaguely if any of the book's HE'D written were in there... The Mimothim shook his head. Probably not. His stuff wasn't popular enough to be in a library.

After prying open the rest of the crates, the Librarian still hadn't put in an appearance - the Pokemon must be off somewhere, taking care of another piece of the project. So, with nothing else to do for the time being, Baffle picked a likely looking book and climbed to the balcony, where he settled down beneath the newly restored rose window, rested his back against the wall, and spent a happy time with his nose in a book.

“I don’t think Bentley would be very happy if he realized what was going on here,” Aviator grunted to Captain Spoons with a frown.

Arranged on the counter between them was a variety of artifacts. Neither of them had any idea where any item came from, or any purpose that they may have served in their original dimensions. The Hoothoot nonetheless reached out for a spherical object with her wing, slightly wrapping her appendage around it.

“He takes archival very seriously,” she warned the Gastrodon fusion further, “Who knows what will happen if these end up in the wrong hands?”

“Or wings?” Captain Spoons replied innocently.

Aviator’s scowl grew, and the deputy drew back slightly. He could feel his ears pinning back against his head.

“I mean…” he muttered before looking down at the floor. Oh, how appealing it seemed in that moment. His paws fiddled with each other, and he added, “He’d understand if he knew that these were for the library. We could tell him about-”

“Do you mean ‘I could tell him?’” Aviator interrupted, “Because I’m not getting involved in any of this.”

Captain Spoons gulped.

“Fine,” he eventually sighed, “I could tell him about how the library wants something to spruce up its counter and make it seem more… Welcoming to visitors. I’m sure the staff there can take good care of the items we give them.”

“Give?”

Captain Spoons blinked, then asked, “Do you really think we’re just going to let them borrow these?” He gestured at the items in front of him. “These have been cluttering up the archives for several cycles now; I haven’t seen a single scholar try to study them…”

Aviator’s brow furrowed in thought for a few moments- Well, the reality was a few moments. It just seemed to last much longer than that, as Captain Spoons could feel his very soul being pierced into by her gaze. Was she examining him? Judging him? Looking for more aspects to criticize or insult?

The owl eventually clicked her beak and shook their head.

“I suppose that’s a reasonable rationale-” Aviator started to reply.

Captain Spoons sighed in relief.

“- But you’re still going to have to confront him on your own. Understood?”

Captain Spoons flattened his ears further. Oh.

Well, a library checkout counter needs bookmarks! Need bookmarks for the books you just checkouted! The bookmarks are made with all sorts of materials and most of them are local made! Then also magazines about all sorts of things, from food to crafts... maybe a few ones about drama for the spice of it! Then multiples of the latest book release, after all it's a hot item! Some mugs for tea or coffee too, always need something hot to drink while reading a good book! Then a whole rotating shelf full of glasses for reading! Some might have small text and some people and pokemon might just need a little extra boost to read the new books they just checked out! Some bags of course! How else are you going to carry your bags? There is paper if you don't want to buy a whole new bag but the choice is always there!

Pokemon Used: Milk
Prompt:
After milk had fallen asleep from reading the book, they soon awoke to gerard asking if they could add some decorations to the front desk to make the place more lively. Milk clapped, giving them a soft smile, as they floated off to figure out what to add to the front desk. Milk floated in front of the desk, a paw to their chin as they tried to think up some decorations for the desk. Then an idea popped into their head, causing them to clap again, as they floated off to go get whatever they had in mind. Milk happily floated back with a box of bookmarks, a jar of candy, little desk figures and some pencil and erasers. Milk went ahead and started to place the items on the front desk and checkout, making sure that everything looked good. Once milk was done, they filled the jar full of candy, small toys and other things that pokemon and trainers might like.
