Prompt: Nyx was a beautiful horse with a gentle spirit. She was never ridden hard or pushed in to feats she wasn't ready for and always seemed content to graze in the meadow overlooking her home. Her owners passed away and Nyx was left to fend for herself. For awhile she managed well enough, but as winter drew near she grew lonely and began to fear the cold. One night a storm came and Nyx was caught outside without shelter. She huddled under an overturned tree until morning, when the snow lessened and she could make her way back home. When she arrived, there was no grass to eat so Nyx approached her owner's house only to find that it had been burned down by vandals. Devastated by the loss of everything she loved, Nyx wandered aimlessly until she found herself at a nearby barn where an old man lived alone with his horses. Seeing how tired and hungry Nyx looked, the old man took pity on her and offered her food and shelter for the night. Ever since then, Nyx has spent winters at the old man's farm where he takes care of her well-being and keeps her warm during colder months.
