There is a bunch of games you can play during free time, things you have to log in to collect (bonding with familiars/gathering/trading post), stuff that requires teamwork with other players (clans), competitions for skin designs for upcoming events, etc. All we have is the forums, the pound and waiting for pets to grow-up/customizing said pets. There is a lack of motivation to log on and stay on the site since what can you really do?honestly, that's what keeps me on the site! on FR where I also have an account, even the fact that you need to keep your dragons fed is too much. add up all that other stuff and it's even worse. don't get me wrong, I don't dislike FR or anything, but for a person like me who has a child, needs to take care of a ton of irl stuff and can only really be online around 2 hours a day and maybe a few seconds in between to bump a thread, it's just not happening (especially when you also have other things you like to do in your free time).
CS doesn't have much to do except watch some pets grow and perhaps be active in the forums if you want to, but I feel like that is what makes it popular and its own unique 'experience'!
- honestly, the overwhelming amount of activities is the reason i didn't end up staying on fr. i pop in from time to time, but the idea of managing my life + managing details on a website- that i'm more or less committed to daily- as a lesure activity just doesn't sit well with me.
i really appreciate that cs is paced by the user. you can be as active or as inactive as you'd like with no consequence. pets grow slowly, so even if you don't have a ton of time to check back in, you're still involved. you can be in a lot of forum games, roleplay, and art groups, or you can choose to stick to pet trading. there are enough well done events that you have fast-paced play when you want / keeps momentum going through the years.
i think adding complexity to the pets on this website wouldn't go over well. there's too many pets, the collection economy is very art-centric, and the core idea of the game has never really been "taking care" of the pets.
an exploring mechanic would be interesting, like what they did over the internet and cave events, but again- those were event centric. i'm not sure that aimless exploration games would mesh well with the site. i'd be interested in seeing it, but again, not sure how it would fit.

- i've been around since 2010 and i have always been so happy with the support team on this website.
neopets was the only other place i really hung out- and it was horribly managed, and very clearly horribly managed. y'all clrealy care. i appreciate your work!
