I don't know about the move since I just saw the thread. But I definetly can say that this side has it's peaks at the events. I noticed that the art forums are still active but seeing as many charge either high C$ prices, ex list pets or real currency. Of course, that's not all of them. I didn't want to generalize, sorry.
Chickensmoothie was my bubble for a while. My safe haven. Now it's a shadow of it's former self. I had lots of fun and found friends that I have to this day. I'm not as active anymore because the pets feel repetitive as many motives are already done and it's only so long until you produce similar content. The older store pets are treaded as holy and are basically unoptainable for the majority of the userbase. Let's add the C$ inflation and it looks really nasty.
I don't have any reasonable suggestions. Chickensmoothie has been online for quite a while now and I'm amazed that's still up and running. But I can see that it could be frustrating for new user to try to collect pets. The Rares List, even thou it was discontinued, is still relevant as 'Ex lists' are the hype, there are multiple threads that tell you how much your pet is worth and a large portion of the users - I assume - are profit oriented. So they only trade when it's beneficial for them. Sounds logic, but I really despise that mentality because outside this sweet dream of a bubble, there's enough of that profit-oriented, almost predatory mentality. Maybe I just miss this fairy tale of freedom and sheer good will that I once saw on this site (as in the eyes of my childish self back then). I'm not saying the community or the site is 'bad' or went bad or whatever. Just it... hits different now. I don't know how to explain and to be honest I wouldn't have the words in my native language as well.
Now that's quite the personal opinion, you don't have to read all that since I didn't read the whole threat either, yet alone the first site. Just my thoughts to this site.
The only small suggestion I have would be an open discussion with the CS Team, what they think and how, as a community, could help this site to it's former glory. BUT the community here is really diverse (and even if it's dying it's still a lot of people) so pleasing everyone is a hard task, as seen with the hole DNI (Do not interact) List stuff or whatever, I heard from a friend that there went something on and people were really split on that topic (or didn't care at all like me).
Holy I'm still writing. OK, I'll stop now.
Why should anything matter?
The only thing that matters is you are human.
But can we define what 'human' really is?
Would you tell me, if you know?
Respect everyone. Respect everything.
From the little plant to the ice bear.
From the small child to the elder.
