the territories are in full bloom during the hottest time of the year. prey is bountiful during
this time of the year, and herbs can be found in abundance. kittings will be handled smoothly,
and cats are still around who might be in need of a new home. however, predators are also
fond of the warm weather, and cats who overwork themselves may find themselves suffering
from dehydration and exhaustion.

• reignpaw failed to learn swimming this moon. instead, the young weakling tried to climb on a pile of slippery rocks. the water made the rocks especially slippery, and reignpaw took a nasty tumble, leaving a deep gash on his shoulder. reignpaw tried to shake it off, but, by the time he returned to camp, the injury was especially painful, and the healers discovered that the wound became infected. because it was so deep, the infection will be difficult to treat, and reignpaw will need to be treated with x1 chervil, x1 wild garlic, x1 sweetsedge, and x3 moons of rest.
• all of the other weaklings passed and learned a skill this moon.

• windclaw's patrol was resting in the shade when they heard the distant bark of a dog. the patrol quickly rose to their paws and began to run back towards safety, but the dog burst from the bushes, its breath hot and sticky against the cats' fur. in her efforts to protect her clanmates and give them time to find a place to hide, swanflight turned on the dog and began a vicious attack by raking her claws down the dog's face. windclaw called to swanflight to keep up, and, thankfully, swanflight obeyed the order. swanflight managed to keep the dog back long enough for her clanmates to get to safety, and she sustained only minor bleeding. swanflight will need to take x1 moon of rest to recover from her injuries.

LilyClan - opening post - 0.1

Hello everyone!

Territory: LilyClan cats live on a north peninsula of a large island, in a position where they can see both dawn and dusk at their respective times of day. There are many large flat rocks surrounding the island, and cats can easily jump from rock to rock until they reach a huge landmass, from which, in particularly hot times, twolegs will come from and splash in the water. Despite these times being the best for swimming, LilyClan knows not to go near the twolegs lest they be taken. Then, the clan will go towards the island, where there is a mix of pine, fir, birch, and spruce trees. LilyClan often hunts the squirrels, birds, chipmunks, rabbits, and mice that make their home there, with bears, wolves, badgers, and foxes being the main enemy to LilyClan’s survival. When it comes to animals that make their home in water, LilyClan will occasionally catch fish, such as trout, walleye, and pike. However, they have to be careful for the Twolegs who are also trying to catch the same fish. There are also loons, turtles, and otters, which LilyClan would never dare hunt, but the clan cats think they are beautiful and highly respect them.

The water is very shallow on the north side where they live, but once they travel for even a segment of a day, it becomes so deep that even the tallest cat could never touch the bottom. Even farther out there are rapids, leading down to a large waterfall where a fall would mean almost certain death.

LilyClan cats come with any shade of fur, however shades of brown are most common. There fur is mostly short and sleek. Cats without short fur will have trouble drying off and will be encouraged to hunt mostly on the island, as opposed to hunting for fish.

LilyClan respects StarClan as the cats that came before them, and there is a sacred rock in front of the camp that leaders, medicine cats, and any cat needing a form of assistance beyond themselves can lay on, and that rock is told to the kits every moon that it brings great knowledge and aid to the clans. Who knows if it’s true though?

Clan cats will respect and also be slightly reasonably scared of all other forms of life, knowing that they are not the only ones trying to make a home here.

LilyClan will use the typical warrior cat system of leader/deputy/medicine cat/elder/warrior/apprentice/queen/kit.
LilyClan’s territory is inspired by the BWCA in northern Minnesota and southern Ontario.

Knightfall and Sweetbee are on a roll. They already adopted one kit, might as well adopt another. Why not. They would take in the third lost kit as well, but Pupdog saw it first. Her life goal is to adopt all of the kittens and when she sees it her eyes sparkle and she falls in love and would die for Snowkit. She’s told that she’s too young to have kits, but she doesn’t listen. Her parents agree to help her raise it.

Sion notices his mother’s still acting strange. During patrols she likes to split from the group and hunt with him alone. During training she’s very strict and insists on making the sessions longer and harder than any other page needs to endure. Whenever he asks why, she answer’s that he will learn soon, but that he’s not ready yet. It’s a little hard on him, but he tries to be understanding and follows along. As long as it makes her happy.

Fishsticks splits up from her group during a patrol. She claims that she’s not feeling well and will return back to the clan. Instead, she ventures out deeper into the forest. When she sniffs out the smell of a rogue group, it’s already too late and she finds herself surrounded. She stands still, but her gaze darts swiftly around, noticing cat after cat emerging from the shadows. “What’s a young molly like you doing all alone so deep in the woods?”, a scarred tom asks, showing her a nasty grin. She rolls her eyes. “I’m here to make a deal”. They surround her, laughing, like the bunch of goons they are. “Leave her be”. Fish recognises Hazelnut’s voice before she sees her. “Why did you come here?” “I need help. I can’t take down Rainstorm alone. I know you tried, but with the full clan there, you didn’t stand a chance. I have a better plan. I will tell you his patrol route. Then we attack. All together. I might even get someone from his team on my side.” Hazelnut talks to her group for a while, then they converse with Fishsticks and make details to the plan. They agree to go along with it, as soon as Fish has the necessary information. Fishsticks returns to the clan, but is stopped by Roadrunner on her way. Road has seen everything and is concerned. Fish explains that it’s still all about taking revenge for Foghorn and that she doesn’t want anyone else to get hurt, that’s why she wants to take on Rainstorm when he’s alone. She promises she wants nothing more to do with the rogues. She manages to convince Runner. They go on a happy date.

Aristaeus takes Quietpaw on training, just as he would any other time. However, this time they take on a different route and go further away from the clan than they ever did, ever on patrols. Quiet starts growing weary, since Aris hasn’t talked all this time. She clears her throat and quietly asks: “Um, where are we going? What is today’s training?”. Aristaeus continues walking, without looking back at her. “Do you know why I train my pages to be dextrous?”, his voice is calm and deep as he speaks. Quiet is a little surprised by the sudden question. “Um, because we need these skills to be knights?” “No. Any cat with a bit of instinct can be a knight. It’s not hard. As long as you know how to use your nose and your teeth, you’ll manage.” Quiet doesn’t have the courage to look at him, instead looks at his swooshing tail walking behind him. “The reason I teach my pages all the skills I was attempting to teach you is because I want my pages to be the best. I teach them everything I know, everything they will need to be the best. Like me. The reason I take on training the new generation is so that I can have a skilled team that will outshine any other. A team that will match me in skill.” He went silent for a bit and Quiet felt like she had to say something. “That’s… that’s very ambitious.” Aris’s demenour didn’t change. “Perhaps. So, do you know why you need to be dexterous?” Quiet raised her head. She thought she was starting to understand. “To be like you”, she said confidently. “No.” Quiet was confused again. “You now have the knowledge about different species of prey and predators and their behaviours. You’re quick and you’re strong. But it’s intelligence that lets you combine the two together. To use your strength against predators. To think of ways to use your skills to hunt.” Quiet was listening and nodding her head along. Aris stopped, turned around and looked down at her. “You have failed to do that and I do not need failures on my team.” Quiet took an instinctive step back. “I will give you one chance to leave. Only one. Now run.” Quiet looked at him with fearful eyes, tucking her tail between her legs. “Run!”, he repeated and she took off before she could really think about what he said. Eventually she found a new home with a different clan and Aris returned from the training alone.

Aristaeus meets with Northstar.
“Quietpaw was lost in the woods today during a patrol”, he says in his usual calm, emotionless voice. “And why would I care?” Northstar barely gives him a glance. “For the last two moons she failed her training. I just wanted to inform you that they will not be coming back to fail again.” Northstar smiles, understanding the implication. “I see. Did you kill them?” She asks bluntly. She does not have the same lexical finesse as Aris. “Of course not”, he responds with a soft smile speaking calmly in his deep voice. “A shame”, she says. “Do you have a problem with killing the young?” Aristaeus doesn’t budge, but gives Northstar an analysing look. “No. In fact, they’re much easier to defeat.” North chuckles. “Good. Remember that for next time. For now I’ll award you 30 points. For creativity.”

The nursery gets filled with new maids. For the three it will be their first litter, just as it was for Secret. They’re all grateful Swoop of a Snow Owl is there to calm them down and assist as an experienced care taker of kits, but also nervous new mothers.

Petalstar smiled down at her cluster of four kittens, two her own, and two a chance to show the clan how selfless she was. The only boy, touched by Starclan, was nestled asleep between her front paws. The whole clan knew he was special, even if some wouldn't admit it. Even Petalstar was a little shocked that the kit had inherited his father's strange fur, but it helped sell the ruse so she didn't mind too much. She did rather miss being able to monitor the activities of the clan personally, but Lièvreshell was keeping her informed. He was standing in for Sweetyam as deputy, since due to an unfortunate turn of events she had been wounded the same moon Petalstar had given birth. It was a stroke of luck that the tom was both willing t=and able to fill the roll, and that he had always been such a supporter of Petalstar from the beginning.

While Petalstar had been confined to the nursery and Sweetyam to the medicine den, Lièvreshell had had his paws full. Two kits had been discovered on patrol, as well as three apprentices, two elders, and four warriors. Getting everyone settled had proved such a task that he had set aside his Decider duties, resolved to take them up again when some peace and quiet was to be had. His most difficult task at the moment was proving to be Hazepaw, one of the new apprentices. She hated every one, including her mentor, Ashwhisp. The tom had been chosen for his level headedness and patience, but even he was beginning to be sick of the young molly's constant complaints.

"Lièvreshell I am *trying* with her a promise. But you cannot tell me you wouldn't get snippy if every time you did ANYTHING all you heard was 'Well my mom said it's done this way' or 'well mother says it's better to do this'. She refuses to respect my knowledge on anything! How am I supposed to work with that?!!?" The solid grey tom's tail lashed as he attempted to explain his frustration.

Lièvreshell sighed, "I'm at my wit's end with her too Ashwhisp. If this continues much longer we may have to take drastic measures."

Ashwhisp scoffed, "What, make her fix all the nests? She's already doing that for half a moon after she decided to leave camp without telling anyone or taking anyone with her. She didn't get far, but still. And it hasn't stopped her either, I'm pretty sure she tried to slip out again this morning before she realized I was watching."

Lièvreshell paused, then huffed in exasperation. "Well, I guess we'll have to just let her then."

"Excuse me?"

"Let her think she's snuck out unnoticed. I'll tail her with you, to help make sure she doesn't get into serious trouble, but I think the only way she will accept that life is different here is if she experiences it first hand." The tawny tom shifted slightly, a little uneasy even at his own plan.

"Isn't that a little risky?" Ashwhisp murmured, thinking to himself. "Well, anything with apprentices is risky. And better she figure out how dangerous it is with us tailing her than on her own."

Lièvreshell nodded, "That was essentially my thinking on it. At least with us there, she'll be a little protected."

"Oh you are such a spoilsport," Hazepaw spat softly at Quietpaw, "This is why they kicked you out hu? You were a coward?"

"We both know that's not what happened!" The older apprentice spat back, "I just was in a funk for a few moons okay? I'm no coward."

"Then why won't you sneak out with me hu? Afraid of the dark?"

"No, I just don't know the territory and I don't want to die." The chocolate and white molly whispered back.

Hazepaw scoffed, "Oh, come on. It's a cave. I have literally never seen or scented a predator once."

"That's because you've never been more than three tail lengths away from camp, mousebrain." The older apprentice rolled her eyes, "There were never predators that close to our old camp either and you know that as well as I do."

"I still think you're just scared of the dark." Hazepaw insisted, starting to walk toward one of the tunnels as the older apprentice padded a little ways behind her, frantically checking to see if any of the warriors were paying attention, but it seemed that everyone was focused on packing up the camp for the move next moon.

"I am not," Quietpaw insisted, "I just. I think this is a very bad idea."

"Then isn't it a good thing I'm brining you? Even if you're kind of a failure, you must have learned *something* from your training, right?"

The chocolate and white molly pinned her ears back in anger, "Well at least I know some things. You haven't even completed a training session because you refuse to listen to anyone."

"That's because from what my mom told me I know what I'm doing is better technique, duh. It's not my fault that old codger doesn't know fighting stances well."

"Have you ever considered that he's like. Way older and more experienced than you?"

"But not smarter than my mom." The pale molly shot back with a devious smirk, "Oh, and how do you like your spoooooky cave? I told you there were no predators."

Quietpaw froze, her ears pinning back in fear as she realized she had been so caught up in the argument that she had not realized how far into the tunnels they had gone. Worse than that, she had no idea how to get back. "Hazepaw you idiot do you want to get us killed?" She snapped, glancing around frantically for any sign of which way they had come from.

"Oh, hush, I've got a great sense of direction." Hazepaw scoffed, continuing to walk deeper into the caves. Quietpaw scurried after her, afraid to be lost completely.

"This is still a terrible plan what if-" Quietpaw's frantic whispers were interrupted by a low growl and the two apprentices froze, Quietpaw darting in front of the much smaller apprentice. The form of a fax slowly appeared out of the darkness, it's gaunt frame speaking to the week or maybe months it had been trapped with little access to food. It appeared to be limping, which gave Quietpaw hope that they could outrun the thing if they absolutely had to.

Hazepaw whimpered, the fur on her back and tail standing straight up as she cowered away from the fox, "What do we do?" She hissed, her voice shaky from terror.

"You need to start backing towards where we came from." Quietpaw whispered, staring the fox dead in the eye as she puffed up to look as intimidating as possible, "Leave a scent trail if you can so I can follow you, and warn the camp. There are tiny kits that would be in a ton of-"

Before Quietpaw could finish, two more forms emerged from the tunnels, darting between the apprentices and the fox. Ashwhisp glowered at Hazepaw, who shrank back even further, b spitting, "Get out of here mouse brain, the adults will handle this."

The apprentices needed no more urging, And darted back through the tunnels as fast as they could, Quietpaw thanking Starclan that Hazepaw did genuinely know the way back.

The two tore into camp, screaming at the top of their lungs, "FOX! There's a fox in the tunnels and Lièvreshell and Ashwhisp are fighting it alone!!"

Immediately the camp burst into action, Hollowsong shouting orders. Clovespeck, Aonscatter, Wildstripe, Nightwhistle, Charwhisper, Kano, and Mystére darted out of camp, following the trail of the apprentices while Hollowsong packed an emergency herb bundle, before dashing after them.

Silence hung over the camp as the remaining warriors gathered the apprentices into the nursery, standing guard in front of it, waiting to see what the fall out was. The air was so think with tension you could feel it. The queens shushed their kits, gathering them close, with Petalstar and her litter tucked in the very back.

Pawsteps echoed softly through the cave, and fur stood on end, eyes trained at the tunnel. A cry of relief rang out as Hollowsong's form emerged, leading back the hastily assembled patrol. Most of the warriors seems unscathed, until Lièvreshell and Ashwhisp limped back in. Lièvreshell's right eye was badly slashed, and swelling shut, and Ashwhisp had a deep gash in his chest, which had yet to scab over. They both had several other scratches, and were clearly bruised, but remarkably unharmed for fending off a fox.

Hazepaw peeked around the cluster of warriors clamoring over the toms, and Ashwhisp immediately caught her gaze. He raised his eyebrows in disappointment, then turned away to follow Hollowsong for treatment.

"Bet you feel like a real mouse brain now." Quietpaw snapped, "And I'm sure Charwhisper is gonna be mad at me too, thanks to you."

"Not funny," Hazepaw snapped back, "They're actually hurt."

"And whose fault is that?" Quietpaw shot back before padding away to the apprentice den, her tail flicking angrily.

Hazepaw stared after the two warriors, tail tucked, shifting uncomfortably. Maybe it was her fault.

--cats are preparing to confront the rogues. Will have a longer blurb here as I think of what to do! Some sweet moments for the families for sure, especially since the nursery is so very full, some apprentices coming up with a plan to sneak out, Scorchjlight being anxious and trying to convince the other healers to ready more herbs because she knows this is going to be bad. Somehow, Bananapaw might get involved with the apprentices' plan to sneak out and is trying to see how he can gather some herbs to bring to the frontlines.
