- Everything about Murksong’s posture spoke of tension, even as he focused on gathering the little bundle of herbs he’d managed to accumulate over today’s travels. And the bugs. There were always the bugs. Really not their favourite food to eat - if given the chance any form of actual meal was the tabby’s go-to, hence gathering even the smallest of scraps that still clung to bone - but desperate times called for desperate measures.
That’s when he heard it. The sound of pawsteps in the brush. Those… they were too light to be the steps of a hound, too careful to be those of a fox. They’d been right. Another cat. He cleared his throat, voice raspy at first from the lack of use. ”Hello? Is anyone-
His words got cut off when the stranger emerged, an oddly strained grin on their face even as they patted him on the shoulder. He kept quiet as they explained, even going so far as to give (bribe him with?) some herbs and a bug they’d gathered.

There was just something about this cat’s tone though, the edge of desperation that laced their words. He couldn’t just leave them alone in a world like this, nor could he deny their request. Looks like they had a mission to do. He nodded, giving the stranger the smallest of smiles. ”Yeah. Alright.” He turned his head towards one of the larger buildings in town. If they remembered correctly, they’d heard rumours it used to be some big mall or something. ”Do you have any ideas where she might be? I know a few shortcuts around that might be of help.”
