I did this X trade fooooreeeever ago before I even knew what rarities really were (not that I’m great at them now)

I don’t have it anymore, but the rarest pet I had at one point was the Red Android store dog, and from the pound too! I stupidly traded it away for something that wasn’t really worth it at all, but hey, i’ve learned since then.

My most valuable pet came from the pound! I had just woken up and checked the pound, it had maybe a minute and 30 seconds left before it opened? And there it was right at the top, was completely shocked and still half asleep haha


Other two would be a UR foal I got as art payment and UR lion from the pound, but I no longer own either. Good times :>

I got philip on december 18th 2016; i vividly remember the spams of attempted ninja trades, pms, and shock that flowed through me when i found out he could become an omgsorare! (the ancient times before the nonracoon was omgsorare). it was a dream come true, and i promised to myself id never ever trade him away even if tempted

years passed, i even gained a ur bee from december 18th (my luck has not continued, lol) but eventually i was stupid enough to fall for unbalanced trades and lost almost all my rares at the time including my ur. i definitely wasnt being wise at all and it was purely my fault, but it almost lead me to quit! i was really disheartened, but the fact that i didnt give up philip even though they asked kinda inspired me to not quit for good. and so im still here ^_^ having loads of fun still

honestly, I think time and being an active trader closer to when the site started is my answer, sad as it may sound. my most valuable pets to me are my cerbs, one of which was gifted by an amazingly kind user who I was friends with back then. orange cerb. but how I got my first red cerb was someone was buying them from the store that month and trading them for 7 pups or 7 uncommon dogs, I can't remember exactly which now. which seems crazy now and future me wished I could go back and trade everything for them as they are my absolute favorite pet on the site.

I think another huge factor (that time plays into) is worth. I don't recall certain things ever costing so much before the Rares List was disbanded. e.g. the red cerb and brown sleipnir were only on the September list though they traded for a high september, or the UR tiger was only 3 nons or something. everything is so inflated now, especially in C$ prices, that it seems impossible to get certain pets now. since everything has jumped so high, Dec. 18th and offsite trades are the only way I can ever get fodder to trade up for things I still want. I'm just very lucky I found and collected most of the things I really wanted before 2014-2015.

It's kinda the only way to get any pet 2016 and beyond that's rare since apparently most of them are in the hands of ppl - in my experience in trying to "collect 'em all" - who refuse to share unless you overpay to some ridiculous degree or just refuse period despite having more than 10 of said pet.
