Kaden Turner | 19 | Captain | Eastern | Tagging: Emma

Kade was honestly surprised the harsh cold hadn’t done anyone any worse damage. With it just coming into spring, a "warm" day often consisted of a temperature anywhere between 1° and -15. He’d barely heard a single complaint though. It wasn't like they weren’t used to it, but there had been a time when it hadn’t been this cold and harsh. He’d been only a year old then, but sometimes the cold and solitude from what he imagined a nice big society would’ve been like made him feel like he was missing out on a whole other world. That said, he knew these people. He knew and cared about these people, they were the only family he had ever really known.

"I haven’t seen anything this year, regretfully, but I’ll keep an eye out anyway in case anything's sprouted outside of the garden." That was one of the reasons Kade knew winter was so hard. Not only was it the coldest season, but nobody could afford to get sick for lack of sufficient resources to make lotions, and various medicines, and capsules. So it meant if someone got hurt or sick…they were pretty much stuck unless there were supplies left over from the warmer seasons.

Kade honestly couldn’t tell one medication from another, but this was Emma's profession, and he trusted her judgement. If anyone knew how to handle a medical situation, it was her. "Yeah, whatever you think is best," he agreed, watching as she turned to her supplies. It didn’t HURT per se, but how dry it was getting was a bit distracting, and it was hard to hold things, which wouldn't be helpful if there was a battle at some point for the slim amount of usable resources out there. "Yeah, I was up pretty early, ate before most folks were awake. If you’re not adverse to the company, I wouldn’t argue about having some tea with you before Valerie gives out the day's orders. Nice to warm up in weather like this."

Annora

Annora waited patiently, her eyes skimming over her partner's face as she attempted to read his emotions, debating over whether she was in trouble or not. She felt that as time was ticking past, there were things she could be doing and so when he suggested walking and talking she gratefully obliged. "I did have some things to keep myself useful while I waited to be assigned a task but if there is something that you need me to priorities, be my guest" she offered before letting go of his arms after realizing she was still holding on to it. She turned around and began to walk after waiting for a few heartbeats to make sure that the leader was following after her.

"Is that the only thing you needed to ask me?" Annora questioned while walking along at a semi-fast pace so that she could make it to breakfast on time before too much of the morning had been taken away.

Connall Walker | 35 | Leader | Western | Tagging: Annora

"Well, more along the lines of, if you haven’t already set up plans for daily tasks, would you collect two or three of the other Warriors and take a group out by the border? See if you can catch wind of any news, or find any trace of supplies on our side of the borders? We're running frightfully low, and I don’t want to cause a panic, but if we don’t find some food and water soon, we may be going hungry sooner rather than later." Especially with so few Hunters and no Gatherers, it could be a challenge. At least they could try and reinforce their border to keep what few resources they did have secure though.

Annora

"Yes, of course, I can, that's more important than what I had to do anyways" she replied in compliance with Connall's request. "We can do a full sweep just to make sure there are no dangers headed our way to add to everything else" she added, turning into the dining quarters so that she could sit down and enjoy her breakfast. "Hopefully we can find something, there is always room for hope". Nova collected her share of the prepared food, wasting no time eating it so that she could collect the other warriors right away.

Dakota Sanders -

Western Doctor | 24 years | Location: Medical cabin | Tags: Toka

Dakota woke up to small conversations in the distance. Mumbled words and the surroundings fuzzy. What time was it? There was no way she slept that late, right? Although, she didn’t sleep much last night so it would make sense. She has always been one of the first ones up in the morning, even at the start of all this. She’s always enjoyed watching the sun-rises before the day, and prepping for the day can always take longer than expected. Kota had this mindset of making sure everything was set and ready before the day began, that way if any emergency or unexpected events happened, she was ready.

Rubbing her eyes, Kota sat up, resting her feet on the ground. The poor girl was exhausted but that was no excuse to not work. She grabbed her boots and parka and headed towards the clinic, keeping to herself like always. Once she got there, she caught herself in a mirror. The dark circles under her eyes were quite visible, no amount of makeup would cover them up (Not that she wore it in the first place). Sighing, she threw her hair into a messy bun, just to get it out of her face. Thankfully there wasn’t much to do. She stayed up late last night, organizing, noting what they needed, and just thinking.

Not long after, she startled at the sound of Tokala. How long was he here for? A smile grew on her face as he kissed her. “Good morning Toka” a slight rasp escaped as she greeted him. She loved the nicknames he gave her, although Kota didn’t know what many of them meant. But that didn’t matter. She was almost positive this one meant Strawberry? Her big eyes looked up at him in curiosity as he pulled out the bark. “Omg, Toka thank you so much.” She wrapped her arms around his waist. “These are perfect. I was running low on them too. This should last us for a few months, unless everyone gets sick again.” She said, as she placed them carefully in a jar on the shelf. Her tiredness was practically gone at this point. Somehow just being around her best friend magically gave her the energy to stay awake. She never understood it, but even on her bad days, just his presence was able to brighten her day.

Emma quickly gave a shake of her head, the type to seemingly brush off what Kade had said regarding their search for new supplies. "Don't worry about it," she assured him. "It's always hit or miss this time of year, anyway. Like with everything, really. I'll talk to Valerie when things start melting or something and see if I can get a warrior or someone to accompany me out. Or..." A somewhat sheepish smile played at her lips, and she shrugged, facing Kade once more. "Or I guess I could always just ask you. You've got the power for that sort of thing, as well." She paused, clasping her hands together. A sigh left her mouth, sounding almost distant, dream-like. "I'd kill for a greenhouse," she continued, somewhat to herself, as she knew that was nothing she nor Kade could do anything about. "Not only would that be beneficial for Dexter and I, but the warmth would do us all some good. A girl can dream, I guess."

Her attention was redirected onto Kade as he took the small container of vaseline out of her hands. "Start with that, anyway," she told him. "I don't like mixing herbs and all that for something small like what you've got going on. But if it doesn't work, let me know, and we'll try something else." A half-smile fell upon her features. "I guess that's the good thing about having sensitive skin; I've always got stuff available." She paused for a fleeting moment, long enough to zip up her jacket; even with the windows sealed shut, it was freezing inside. She prayed that was an agreed statement, and that it didn't mean she was coming down with a cold.

Emma turned towards the window, peering out it as if she had only just noticed the sun was out. "It's so deceiving," she mumbled, yet again mostly to herself. She glanced back at Kade, shooting him a smile. "I'm always up for some company," she said. "Especially with you. It'll be nice to have a bit of a quieter morning." She reached towards the table, grabbing the keys, in case Dexter had already left. "Lead the way; I'm right behind you."

Something about Dakota was so comforting to him. Maybe it was that warm vanilla brown sugar scent that seemed to linger on her skin, or the way her presence lit up the room like sunshine against Earth's surface. Whatever it was, Tokala always felt at ease around her. He supposed that was one of the reasons they had clicked so quickly. Both couldn't deny that they had come from pretty awful backgrounds (although he never liked to compare; he constantly told himself she had it way worse), and arriving only a few years after one another helped at least start a conversation. It had been easy, though; she had always been so easy to talk to. His growing crush on her was painfully hard to hide, yet he wasn't sure she ever suspected it. If she did, she hadn't ever made mention of it, nor had she pulled away. He had always been thankful those feelings didn't get in the way of their friendship. He enjoyed being around her, regardless of where they stood.

He embraced the hug, then allowed her to grasp onto the small pieces of bark he had cut for her. "It's hard to tell, this time of year," he mused, allowing himself to comfortably lean against one of the nearby counters. "With the temperature changing and all that. I'd hope not everyone would get sick, but..." He shook his head. Despite emphasizing the word "everyone", he wasn't mocking her. In fact, as sad as it was, when sickness sprouted within their camp, it spread rapidly; it was harder to avoid it than to catch it. They had seen too many deaths over the years because of it. "I wanted to talk to Connall about going on a longer trip," he continued. "I saw a deer today, Kota! If we travel far enough, I'm confident we'll be able to find some bigger animals. And bigger means more meat and more pelts; we could make more blankets with the right materials. Coats, too."

His excitement died off, mostly out of embarrassment, and he allowed himself to watch her with a smile for a moment longer. It seemed to be filled with admiration, or something along those lines; Tokala knew he looked at her differently. "What's your plan for today?" he continued, allowing his gaze to wander upward and skim over the many stacked jars nearby. "Do you want to go for a morning stroll? Or am I too much of an inconvenience to work into your busy schedule?" A teasing smile crossed his features as he returned his gaze to her. It wasn't uncommon to go on a quiet walk with her, but Tokala knew how busy she was. How everyone was, really. This was always a painfully difficult time of year for them.

Cato Jake Cameron/close friends may call him CJ/male/22 years old/Hunter of Eastern Tribe/Tags: Móraín/Location: Camp of Eastern Tribe/Sexuality: Pansexual/No crush or relationship as of now
Cato walked outside of the Hunter’s den. Maybe of his tribe mates were already up and Cato couldn’t help but feel a little bit guilty about him sleeeping in just a little bit. He smiled and looked around the place they called him. It was a rather nice place to live. In the far top right corner of the camp was the Leader’s hut where there leader, Valerie resided. In the far bottom left corner of the camp was the Hut dedicated for the Gatherer’s, Scouts and Artisan Hut. In the middle of the two was the Warrior’s and Hunter’s hut. Personally Cato didn’t see a need for them to share a hut with the Warrior’s. After all he was pretty unsure on the whole warriors to begin with. In the center of where they resided were picnic tables. Sometimes when Cato was off work he would sit there and think about his life choices (Yes he was chaotic and a weirdo so why do you ask). On one side of the picnic tables was the Trainee’s hut. The only trainee they had was a young male by the name Mateo. He was training to be a hunter trainee and Cato couldn’t help but feel nothing but pride for the young kid. He had a bright future ahead that was for sure. I mean he was hardworking, fun to work with, and learns things easy. He always keeps you entertained and he always has this mysterious side to him like you never know what he is thinking. Getting back to the point from his thoughts, on the opposite side of the Picnic tables was the Med Hut and out towards the unoccupied sides of the camp was the tree line and edge of the forest.

Cato walked towards a young woman standing by herself. He racked his brain trying to recall her name. It was on the tip of his tongue. Hm.... Morgan....no. As the young male racked his brain it instantly clicked after a few trials and errors in his head. Móraín was her name and thank goodness he figured it out before he got to her. She was a slim female with black hair and he could remember upon seeing her eyes only days before, that she had blueish amber eyes. She had light olive skin and he thought her eye color was really cool. He smiled and walked over to her and said smiling, “Hello Móraín, you may have forgotten my name. Before coming to talk to you I’ll admit myself I forgot your name, but no matter I have remembered it now. Though it was probably by pure luck if I’m being honest, or maybe it wasn’t, I don’t know.” He stopped himself as he felt himself getting really chaotic with his speech. He said clearing his throat, “Sorry about myself, I tend to be a tad chaotic. I’m Cato if you don’t remember my name. I noticed you were alone so I came to talk to you. So other than the usual thing that Warriors do, wait if there is no fighting to be had what do you guys do on a daily basis? I forgot so my apologize. Oh silly me,” he shook his head a couple of times disciplining himself in his mind. He continued, “I should let you speak how rude of me. My question was going to be before I got side tracked again what were your plans if you had any today. Don’t feel obligated to answer if you don’t want to. I’m just trying to make some friendly chit-chat.”

Freyja Hansen -

Eastern Hunter | 21 years | Location: | Tags: Open | Mentioned: Mateo

Freyja was up before the sun, which is normal for the girl. She enjoyed her alone time, let alone the quiet and peace the world gave to her, despite everything Earth has gone through. The brunette always believed that her alone time prior to the sun was the reason she can tolerate the day amongst people. It was known that she didn’t like the company of others, let alone people in general. She’s always been like that since she joined the Tribe, and she doesn’t ever plan to change.

The morning was brisk, but that was nothing she hasn’t gone through. Throwing on her coat and boots, Frey left her bed and headed out into the Icy Plains. She never had an idea where she was going but that never mattered. Anywhere in the wilderness was a perfect place to clear her head. She walked for about forty five minutes before the sky started to lighten with beautiful pastel colours, which reflected off the snowy ground. Sitting down, the girl started braiding her hair, pulling them to the side of her head as the rest of her hair stayed down. Freyja had many other styles, but this was her usual, it was quick and easy. Once she finished her braids, the girl decided to head back to camp. By this time, most of her Tribe is awake and is starting or at least getting ready for their jobs. As a hunter, Frey as always carried her bow with her, but this time she left it back beside her bed. Which wasn’t a big deal, because she does have a smaller knife always on her, attached to her thigh.

Before the girl knew it, she was back with her Tribe. Small groups of people were together getting ready or just chatting but the Hunter kept her distance. Walking back to her bed, she grabbed her bow and headed towards the hunting cabin. Although on the way, she noticed the younger Trainee. Mateo was his name if she recalled correctly. He was a sweet kid, and quiet which she liked. And from what she has observed, he seems like a pretty good member to have in the Tribe. The girl had a soft spot for him, which meant lucky for him, he was one of the few people she did like.

indentationQuickly finishing up his paperwork for the day, Janus sighed, reclining in his chair for a few heartbeats, taking a moment to relax. After closing his eyes and resting for but a moment, he got up from his chair, grabbed his paperwork, and set about putting the papers in the correct places. With that done, Janus started out of his office, grabbing his warm woolen hat, gloves, and scarf as he left. Quickly putting them on to fend off the cold, he started heading towards the indoor gym, where he often worked out at. At a young age he'd preferred running and swimming, to living weights or anything else you'd find in a gym, but these days it was rare to have a day - or a couple of hours - warm enough to do either of those things. Face severe as he made his way towards the gym, Janus blinked as he caught sight of Karter leaning against a wall of one of the huts. Doing absolutely nothing.
indentation Frowning for all but a millisecond, Janus made a quick decision. "Zael, get over here! You just volunteered to spar with me." He snapped out, voice booming over the short distance between them. Janus paused for only a few moments as he came to stand a few feet to one side of Karter Zael. Silently he inspected the teenager, before nodding to himself, and started off toward the gym once more. Janus rarely if ever referred to anyone by their first name, much like his own father had.

indentation Grabbing a small tasting spoon from a nearby drawer, he calmly dipped the spoon into the chili and took a quick taste. He frowned, it tasted... good. Like always, it was missing something. He blanked for all of a minute before it came to him. Groaning at his own stupidity, Theo strolled over to the small area in the kitchen where he kept the -small amount- of condiments that they were able to find from time to time. Not many were edible after a year, and aside from honey, salt, and sugar, only tabasco sauce, Pepper and Vinegar lasted more than two years. So what little the gathers did find, were usually expired and unusable, or if they were lucky had to be used within the next few days. That said, he had a pretty healthy stash of Salt, Sugar, and Pepper. He wasn't personally a big fan of honey, but it was important to a few dishes he loved so he kept a good amount of that as well.
indentation Grabbing the special salt and pepper shakers he kept in the kitchen, he strutted back over to the chili and Turkey burgers, before adding a healthy amount of salt and pepper to the chili. After a moment he put the shakers down and checked the Burgers again. There wasn't any cheese available at this point, which wasn't a big surprise, there wouldn't unless someone around here found a cow or goat and started milking it. And of course, if they knew how to make things like cheese, butter, and drinkable milk.

indentationAfter spending some time just watching people walk by, going about their days, an idea came to her. She was always looking to improve herself. And she often struggled when she left the tribe's camp alone to do her job, so while she often trained alone, it obviously wasn't helping her all that much. So, why not get the assistance of someone who's already been trained in something like that? She could with good reason go to one of the hunters, or even the Captian. But Kaden was young, younger than herself and she honestly wasn't sure if he was experienced enough for such an important job. Though she wasn't the one to make those decisions, - something she's thankful for. She didn't really know either of the hunters well either, so they were out. But, from what rumors she'd heard, Aleksi was skilled. Angel had never heard any specifics, but she'd try her luck with him first. If not, she'd see if Loren or Móraín were available.
indentation Jumping up from her sitting position, she gave a small dance of excitement and turned to go search for Aleksi. It took some time, but she wasn't bothered by it. Holding back an excited squeal, she darted toward the older man, skidding to a halt when a jolt of irrational fear hit her. What if he hated her? What if he ridiculed her? Or laughed her away? Or just ignored her and walked away? Taking a moment to take a calming breath to help hold back her anxiety. Her fears and excitement met and while she pushed it down onto the back burner, it was still palatable - to her at least - as she calmly and elegantly made her way towards Aleksi. She cleared her throat, then spoke. "Um, I, Er, hate to bother you, Aleksi. But I have a question." She said, starting off awkward and not all that confident. "I'm having a bit of trouble outside of camp, and I was wondering if you could teach me... well anything."

indentation With her next moves planed - at least as far as gathering more resources go - Rosie sat down and proceeded to slump in it. It wasn't often that Rosie allowed herself a moment to breathe, but it was becoming more and more apparent these days that Rosalie wasn't as young as she used to be. Rolling her head back towards the ceiling, she hummed letting her mind wander. It had been years since she'd seen, heard, or even seen a sign of any of her biological children, which was beginning to take a toll on her. Thomas; her oldest had been a momma's boy, and the defender of their family blood and adopted. Most of her children lived clear across the country from her, which for her, meant she'd likely never see them again. Thomas had been one of the few to stay local. At least until the Tribe formed. He'd informed her that he was going looking for his siblings, that he was going to bring them home.
indentationAs he'd never returned, she assumed that he and those he'd managed to gather were no longer in the land of the living. She closed her eyes and shook her head. No, I must keep hope. He'll come back. eventually. in time. Blinking back tears that threatened to cascade down her face she shook her head. A shiver ran down her spine as she righted herself, and turned her attention back to the work in front of her. Sighing halfheartedly, she started looking over it all again, making notes and such.
