Im confused. It is April 2nd?

The thread generally runs off either EST -- my time zone -- or CS time, which is about four hours ahead. In EST, it's currently 3:30 PM on April 1st, where as going off CS time, it is 19:30 on April 1st.

The earliest the event will start is at CS rollover, or 8 PM EST time. So in about four and a half hours! I'll be making an announcement once it's open for everyone c:

April 2nd - April 12th

Squinx are one of Pixel Island's oldest inhabitants. This feline-like species survives mainly off of burrowing animals like moles and young rabbits, tubers, mushrooms, and small reptiles. To the other popular island inhabitants like Squiks and Squirrels, not to mention their cousins the Squittens, these felines were all but harmless, and they had no predators of their own. They lived peaceful, leisurely lives on the island.

But when humans started to venture to Pixel Island, the Squinx felt threatened. They believed these towering, furless creatures to be invaders and a threat to them as a species. But at their size, they were in no position to defend their island from outsiders.

Believing their lives to be at risk, the Squinx decided to move closer to their food sources: Into the network of small caves and burrows all over the island. They slept in the tunnels and raised their young out of sight, and came to the surface only at night to find food for themselves; becoming the nocturnal species they are today.

So they became something of a legend amongst island explorers, one which the vast majority didn't even believe in.

That is, until now. The Squinx have returned to the surface, and they're in need of our help.

Much like sea otters and their rocks used for shelling clams, Squinx have gemstones that are precious to them. These gems may be passed down from the generations, have significant value to their owner, or even be a proclamation of love from a mate. No matter the reason, you will never see a Squinx without their stone.

But lately, their stones have been disappearing! The quarry from which they get them has been depleted -- taken by humans who were unaware of the significance they held. Now the Squinx need to find a new source of their gems, and one which is safe from ignorant humans, so that their tradition doesn't end before the next generation.

The Squinx's quarry was above ground and easy pickings for the wandering, ignorant human to take from. Now they're looking to move their operation closer to home: Underground! Pixel Island is covered in a network of small, interlocking caves and tunnels. Easy for small animals to get through, but not for humans. The Squinx are looking for volunteers to help find the best underground source of gems.


How to play:
Send an adopt of any species into the tunnels to help the Squinx find a new gem source! Don't worry, they're in no danger. The Squinx have spent years ensuring the safety of their underground home. Once underground you may either:

1. Immediately return with nothing. But that's nothing to get upset about! You can go every two hours once your pet rests up.

2. Return with a gem in tow. You might find a single gem, or the rarer cluster! These can be redeemed for prizes down below. Clusters can also be broken to produce a random amount of single gems.

3. Be presented with a choice. There's a chance that you'll have to make a decision about where your pet goes in the tunnels. This can result in rarer prizes. Just quote the original post and say what you choose to progress!

As an added note, gems of all types can be traded on the PS trading thread just like normal items.
All gems not spent by the end of the event will be converted into Credits (gems = 5, clusters = 10).
