We have a detailed bullet-point list of reasons on the front page.

I think this could help users struggling with the new change and just minors in general who haven’t grown up with internet safety like us oldies.
^^ also curious about this! is there a way to mute certain words on CS so that posts containing them won't show up? that would make it easier for those of us who are triggered by things or wish to avoid certain content when browsing forums?
xxagreed w both of these suggestions! i think they'd be super helpful (if it's possible to implement them) and could ease a lot of the worry i've seen expressed on this thread.
For censoring words or terms, I'm pretty sure you'd need a browser extension. Cs automatically censors certain cuss words, but I don't believe there's any way to add to the list yourself. There are browser extensions you can get though that can do this for you.

i understand that and i read the bullet point list, and i understand the mods are just looking out for everyones safety and im not trying to criticize anyone here but there are certain things i need to list in a dni for my own mental health so..? im just not sure where to go from there.
it seems a few other people in this topic have this same issue too

After reading some replies, I think dni list can be acceptable if used correctly or contains information that can possibly notify others without giving them valid triggers to bait them with. I do believe you can still block and move on, but after looking back, dni list can be useful and inform others of what they don't allowed being talked about near or with them. Maybe instead of informing people that they cant interact with you, maybe state that in order to have a smooth interaction, do not do this, that, etc. (if the persons pf sig is plastered with said triggers, then I guess you can block em xD) also Idk how you can know if someone is that trigger, if they never interacted that way towards you. usually I won't go after someone if they're chill. If they do, pull the Block button and report.

The original post states that they have already tried moderating and letting "good" DNI go, and that it just wasn't working because someone will always be bothered by a DNI no matter what you do.
The moderating was just getting too difficult

What I’ve seen from posts is that people feel better and find it reduces their anxiety if they can publicly state a DNI. However, our rebuttal to that is it provides an illusion of safely while actually endangering you by sharing a bunch of your personal/private information.

sup, i have a question to ask on the behalf of others:
- is saying "dni" in general okay? for example, if a user does not want to interact with anyone at a given moment. this could also be "no DMs" "do not message me". however this would not discriminate by a specific group or interest etc.
thanks!

Keith-Kogane wrote:If we find someone that still has a DNI list somewhere, should we report it?
it can probably start being reported after two weeks.
Simon wrote:There will be a two-week grace period following this announcement for users to remove any previously rule-abiding DNI lists from their profiles/links, after which moderators will begin to enforce this rule, at which point you may receive a reminder PM or board warning from a moderator asking for the DNI list to be removed. However, please be mindful that these warnings are intended as informational corrections and are not likely to result in account restrictions or bans unless a pattern/repetition of rulebreaking behavior is observed.
