+25 XP [380 words written]
+10 XP [Patrol sent]
+10 % Hunger each [except Leafpaw]
-20 % Hunger for Leafpaw

Tansypetal led the group down to the shore and from there up one of the many streams that fed into the ocean, keeping one eye on the rushing waters. The presence of a stranger in their middle made them a bit uneasy, but Goldenleaf kept to herself, only occasionally piping up to ask the others questions about themselves and their lives.
Luckily, her chatter didn’t scare away the prey, and Thrushslip managed to catch a squirrel while it was digging up one of the nuts it had likely stored for the winter. Peachpaw and Cherrypaw, meanwhile, had stumbled upon a patch of various herbs that they picked up and carried with them.
[+1 Squirrel, +3 FP, +1 Yarrow, +1 Lamb’s Ear, +1 Tansy, +6 XP]

Not much later they came to a bend in the river where it formed a small pond, and circled it, looking for fish. Leafpaw was the first to catch something, batting the silvery animal out of the water and killing it before it could flop its slippery body back into the waves.
[+1 Fish, +3 FP, +2 XP]

Tansypetal herself was just in the process of raising her paw to strike at a fish herself when a piercing cry startled her. Hissing, she watched her prey vanish between some stones.
“I’m sorry,” Peachpaw meowed, ears folded back. “But what’s this smell?”
Now that the apprentice mentioned it, Tansypetal, too, noticed the stink that was permeating the clearing.
“OceanClan!” she growled. “To me!”
Unquestioningly, they abandoned their hunting stances and surrounded her.
“It’s a badger,” Tansypetal meowed carefully, watching them tense. “We are five cats – six, with Goldenleaf. We could probably beat this filthy predator and teach it not to show its face around here again. What do you say, everyone? Should we go beat it up or retreat back to the camp?”

Total
+6 FP | +1 Yarrow | +1 Lamb’s Ear | +1 Tansy | +44 XP | Level 3 [49/300]

Goldenleaf was sitting, tail flicking and head tilted thoughtfully, "I think," Began Thrushwink quietly and carefully, "We should... perhaps head back?" He said uncertainly although Cherrypaw piped up, "I think we should fight it!" She leaped into the air with her claws unsheathed and pounced on a leaf, batting it more playfully than viciously. Tansypetal gave her a dominant, stern look, "Fighting isn't a fun game you'd play with your littermates. It's dangerous and frankly, you can get very hurt." Peachpaw spoke up in her kind, gentle, and slightly shaky voice, "We should chase it away or else it can cause us a lot of trouble." She quickly turned and looked at her mentor apologetically and he smiled and mouthed 'It's alright to have an opinion.' Leafpaw nodded in agreement, "Goldenleaf, can you fight?" Goldenleaf snapped out of her momentum and looked at them both, "No, not really." Tansypetal then responded in a hushed murmur as she heard the lumbering of the badger, "Then take all this stuff at and tell Snowshell I sent you, give her my name and clan name to prove it. If you have trouble, just tell her you brought her gifts and walk away, alright?" Goldenleaf thought for a long moment and when the lumbering quickened as the badger scented them she snapped out of it once more, hurriedly grabbed everything with ease, and ran off in the direction of Ocean Clan cave-camp-tunnels by the ocean shore. Tansypetal shouldn't but she trusted her to do the right thing, if not she can track her down and take the stuff back but she did follow her directions and go the right way so she assumed everything is going according to plan. She turned back to her clanmates, "Youngest in the back, me and Thrushwink will fight first. Understand?" Peachpaw nodded nervously, Leafpaw bunched her muscles quietly, crouching slightly and Cherrypaw did an excited bounce in response to her. They all lined up, Peachpaw in the far back and in front of her Leafpaw and Cherrypaw were standing side by side, in front of them, Tansypetal and Thrushwink were brushing pelts beside each other, both meaning it in an affectionate and comforting way. Thrushwink smiled slightly, "Whatever happens, I'll follow you till the end." Tansypetal was touched by his words as they crept forward. "Same for you, feather-brain." She nudged him teasingly and blushed slightly as they crept forward, the lumbering badger appearing from the bushes snarling fiercely, "ATTACK!" Tansypetal yowled, launching at one side of its face as Thrushslip launched at the other and the apprentices surrounded it.

the patrol launched themselves at the badger, their claws outstretched as they pounced forward. tansypetal clung to the badger's side as she sank her teeth into its shoulder, causing it to let out a sharp yelp of pain. unsure of who to target first, it snapped its jaws and attempted to shake the cats off, but to no avail. it hadn't expected the group to fight back so fiercely, and the surprise of the ambush had left it stunned. after having recieved a good few injuries from the fight, the badger retreated, limping away from the group as quickly as it could. hopefully it wouldn't be returning any time soon.
once the fox had left their sight, it was apparent that tansypetal had gained a couple minor injuries from the scuffle. she brushed off thrushslip's concerns with a light shrug, "I'm alright, just got a bit scraped up. nothing I can't handle". the day was still young, after all, and she didn't want to end the patrol for something so minor.

turning away, tansypetal led the others as they weaver through the trees. it wasn't long until her perked ears had picked up a soft rustling coming from a nearby cluster of bushes. though partly obscured by the leaves and twigs, she was able to make out the figure of what seemed to be a hare within the dense bushes. she crept toward the area, making sure to move as silently as possible, her eyes focused on the creature. once she had gotten only a couple tail lengths away, the molly lunged forward, causing the startled hare to attempt to dart away from her reach. but its delayed reaction had worked in tansypetal's favor, and within only a few moments the hare hung limply in tansypetal's jaws. (+4fp, +4xp)

right when they had decided to begin their return to camp, the patrol managed to stumble upon a well-sized patch of herbs! deciding that it never hurt to have more herbs on hand, the cats each grab as many as they can carry. making sure not to damage the thin, leafy stalks, they pick the stems gently with their teeth. they might end up being useful to the clan one day, after all, and it was much wiser to stay on the safe side. (+1 holly berries, +1 poppy seeds, +1 willow leaves, +1 blackberry leaves)

≋O≋c≋e≋a≋n≋ ≋C≋l≋a≋n≋
Thrushslip ran over to Tansypetal after they all made sure the badger was gone, "Good battle everyone, but, Tansypetal, are you alright?" He whimpered lowering his head and holding her gaze. She swallowed and nodded, "Everyone, we need to hurry back, come on you four." She turned to Thrushslip and he offered her to lean on his shoulder, "Thanks." She mewed, gritting her teeth as they all walked through the beach-side forest, soon reaching a sandy part of it and realizing they were close to getting back. Chasing that hare plus the battle made her exhausted as they hurried back to their cave-tunnel camp. The apprentices didn't receive any injuries and weren't as tired as Tansypetal and were chatting away behind them.

Leafpaw and Peachpaw didn't really say much, they simply listened to Cherrypaw's excited ranting about the badger battle and all, occasionally sharing amused glances or eye rolls. Once they climbed up the ramp they heard Snowshell hissing at Goldenleaf and rushed inside, "Get OUT rouge!" Despite her harsh tone, Goldenleaf sat in the center of the entrance with her back turned to where the others were. "I'm sorry but I'm telling you, I was sent by your leader, Tansypetal to bring these herbs they found. I'm the new medicine cat-" Tansypetal and Thrushslip swished past Goldenleaf and Thrushslip spoke first, "She isn't lying, calm down Snowshell." She tilted her head in a confused manner but then nodded and stepped aside. "Alright." Snowshell sat down and licked her paws, keeping her eyes on Goldenleaf. Goldenleaf sighed in relief and nodded, "Greetings, any healing needed?" She asked, picking up the herbs as the others followed her into the medicine den, the apprentices choosing to go to their own den instead.

Thrushslip walked her into the medicine den and set her down in the moss bed. Goldenleaf checked her over and nodded, "A few scratches and a wrenched muscle, a day of rest should fix that right up." She gathered the herbs and put them away in the smaller connected herb-storage den. Tansypetal watched her but turned to focused Thrushslip who looked worried. "Hey, I'm alright, why do you look so worried?" She chuckled slightly, trying to lighten the mood. He flinched at her question and shook his head to clear it, "Nothing, you are my leader and I'm just worried for you." He said as if to assure himself of something else... She stood up and walked over to him. "Tell me what's up, you're my best friend, you can tell me anything." Goldenleaf's eyes glinted from the shadows of the storage den, curious and a bit fond. Thrushslip blushed and wrapped his tail around himself, "You simply tend to worry me, that's all." Tansypetal felt slightly flustered at his sudden murmur. She purred and pressed her cheek against his. "You can tell me anything, Thrushslip. You mean a lot to me too." Thrushslip held back for a moment and didn't answer. Tansypetal twined her tail with his and stared at him intently, "Thrushslip, you aren't exactly very good at being secretive. I see you staring at me from time to time, tell me the truth, please." He held her gaze for a moment before suddenly kissing her.

Tanspetal was shocked but so oblivious. She opened her eyes and stared at him in massive amounts of surprise, he looked surprised with himself as well, "I um, I didn't mean to, I..." She held his gaze fondly and purred, rolling her eyes, "Mouse brain," She began, touching her nose to his. "I love you too." Goldenleaf walked out of the storage and smiled playfully, "Finally, it's about time." Thrushslip looked so happy it wasn't possible for words to describe. He ignored Goldenleaf and hugged her, twining his tail with hers, "I really love you Tansypetal, I always have." He purred, his face turning a light pink color and his pelt burning under him. Tansypetal felt a similar way but it was interrupted when everyone burst into the den with wide smiles, some giggling, "I TOLD YOU THRUSHSLIP!" Snowshell laughed defiantly. "I knew it, I knew it!" Cherrypaw giggled. "Alright girls, you've all had your fun, go get some rest all of you, now." They all straightened and ran away, "Yes Tansypetal!" They all shouted before slipping into their own dens.

It had been about an hour after them deciding to be together. Thrushslip and her were sitting on the ramp to the entrance to Ocean Clan camp, telling each other awkward stories and thoughts about each other, mostly Thrushslip. "Wait- what's that?" Tansypetal scented something nearby and Thrushslip saw two pairs of eyes watching them from the darkening sandy forest, unable to identify them. Both of them jolted upright and Tansypetal shouted, "Who's there?!" At the three, now, reappearing shadows. Two calico she-cats and a black and white tom slinked out of the shadows to the base of the ramp entrance. "Who are you three?" Thrushslip asked, slightly more defensive than territorial. Tansypetal brushed her flank against his in a comforting manner. A sweet apprentice (one of the calico she-cats took a step forward, more visible now and shifting awkwardly.

"I'm Poppypaw, I'm sorry for trespassing but we heard yowling and got worried someone was hurt. We'll leave now-" Tansypetal and Thrushslip interrupted her, "Wait, what about the other two." The black and white tom stepped forward cautiously, "I'm Smokewhisk and this is Blossomfleck." Tansypetal mentally noted they had warrior names. "That was a cover-up excuse she made up." The other she-cat stepped forward, "We came to see if we can join." Smokewhisk piped up, "We've been wandering for forever when our group was destroyed by a nasty plague we never seemed to catch for reasons above me but we watching you cats for about a moon now, deciding whether or not we would be able to trust you. Thrushslip nodded in an understanding manner and Tansypetal looked stern but a bit understanding as well.

"What was your clan's name?" Poppypaw paused and added, "We weren't a group but a large tribe. We were called The Night Stalkers by other cats, the name suited us so we took it in." Poppypaw and her friends bowed their heads and they all stepped forward, "We're requesting to join your bustling clan." Said the gentle oldest she-cat. Tansypetal traded glances with her friend. "We'll give you a chance but don't you dare try anything." They all nodded and Poppypaw rushed forward, hugging their legs. "Thank you, thank you!" She purred quietly and chanted. The other two cats nodded in agreement and bowed, "We'll forever be in your debt."

The next day rolled around and the cats set off to continue searching for food, herbs, and even more future members to their clan.

TL;DR wrote:Laylah wakes up, prays, has breakfast with her sister, humiliates herself, and then goes hunting.

Laylah stepped out of the den, blinking as the rays of sun nearly blinded her after the darkness of the cave. She stretched and then padded over to the pile of fresh prey. It had been dangerously small the last few weeks and some of the Authorities had chosen to go hungry to let the Acolytes and the higher ranks eat instead, but over the last days it had tentatively begun to grow again. Spring was just around the corner and the animals were daring to leave their burrows again, venturing out between the first plants of the changing seasons.
Laylah could taste the life in the air and was glad. Winter had been harsh, and the Choir had lost a valued Throne to a vicious sickness even Samael had not been able to heal. Jequn nor ran with the Goddesses and she knew she should be happy for him, but still, she missed the elderly tom. She well remembered the stories he had told when she had been a young Acolyte, sitting at his paws, raptly listening to the stories he had told with her siblings. It would likely be a long time before she would see him again. But that was the way it was supposed to be. The Goddesses would come for her when the time was right, no sooner and no later.
Thinking of the Goddesses, she snapped back to attention and padded over to the communion cave. The prey had to wait a little longer. A few of the other Choir members had already finished praying and left the sacred place as she entered and they exchanged a nod. Xathanael and his assigned Acolyte, Zarall, were among the group and she purred as she exchanged a glance with her brother. She knew he had likely prayed for guidance and hoped the Goddesses would provide it – Xath would never show it, but he had confided in her that he wasn’t sure if he was the mentor Zarall needed. The young she-cat was bright, inquisitive, and a quick learner, which were qualities desired by the Choir, but her brother, just like her, hadn’t been an Authority for long yet. She had told him, though, and would tell him a million times more, that he was doing an amazing job.
To be honest, she saw a bit of Xathanael in Zarall, too, and she supposed that was why he felt overwhelmed. It didn’t matter now, though. The two of them had things to do, and she had too.
She closed her eyes as she pushed through the vines that shielded the Choir’s holy place, breathing in deep. The scent of herbs and earth filled her lungs, and though the air had been chilly in her fur just a moment ago in here she was sure it was a few degrees warmer.
The wall opposite her was stone, with eight alcoves hollowed out. She did not know who had carved them into the stone, or when it had happened. Jequn, the oldest cat she had ever known, had told her that even his elders had said that they had always been there, as had what they contained. A cat’s skull, old, brittle, and bleached, one resting in each of the alcoves. They were what the Goddesses had left behind when they had ascended into the heavens, their immortal souls far past mortal needs and even bodies. At the top rested the all-seeing Goddess, her three eyes piercing Laylah where she stood in the entrance. No matter how often she came here, the sight stole her breath anew every single time.
Below her there were the skulls of the Goddess of the Sun and the Goddess of the Moon, and under them the Goddesses of the Hunt, and the Fight. Though the all-seeing Goddess was the highest of the deities, and the one who reigned over the pantheon and by extension all of the Choir, most cats prayed to the Hunt and the Fight at least as often. How could they not? They were a part of their daily lives in ways the other Goddesses were not.
In the lowest row rested the Goddesses of the Earth, the Air, and the Water. They were everywhere and nowhere at once, their presence permeating the lands, the rivers, the very air the cats breathed.
With a start, Laylah realized she had been standing there, unmoving, for a few heartbeats. Raphael was staring at her with his penetrating gaze from his place underneath the skulls and she nodded at him slightly. As always, she could not look him in the eye for long. She knew his appearance was a sign from the Goddesses that he had been chosen to speak for them and to enact their will in the mortal realm, but that did not mean it did not unsettle her.
One time, when she was very young and very foolish, she had asked Israfil if there was something wrong with him, and had never seen her mother so scared and angry at the same time. Laylah remembered well how she had chastised her never to say or even think anything like that again, and that to criticise Raphael was to criticise the Goddesses. She had nodded and kept her mouth shut from then on, but the unnatural aura to him and his eye still made her skin crawl sometimes.
She picked one of the nests and, after silently nodding at Maalik in the nest to her left, sat down, facing the wall. Crouching down, she pressed her nose to the floor, closed her eyes, and prayed.
Some of the others had favourite Goddesses, ones who had shown them their favour in the past or ones that they expected favours from, but Laylah prayed to all of them the same. There was nothing in particular she was asking for today, but it was still expected to show respect to the deities daily. And though there was nothing she needed, she still appreciated having someone to talk to, talk about the things she couldn’t talk about with the others, even if she had, so far, never received a response.
When she was done, she got back up and stepped towards Raphael, freeing the nest for the next cats after her. The Principality raised a paw and rested it on her forehead. “The Goddesses are with you,” he meowed in his deep, chalky voice. She bowed low, her nose touching the ground, and then left the cave through the curtain of vines again.
Now she was allowed to eat and picked a small mouse out of the pile. She looked around for someone to eat with, and smiled as she spotted Sophia sunning herself not too far away. Purring, she padded over to her sister and sat down next to her. “Good morning, sleepyhead.”
The Prophet’s apprentice’s eyes snapped open. “I wasn’t sleeping,” she meowed quickly, though her words were slurred and her pupils unfocussed.
“Sure, whatever you say,” Laylah teased. “Did Samael keep you up long last night?”
Sophia moaned. “Long is not even the right word! I am actually pretty sure the sky was getting lighter again when he finally allowed me to go to my nest. I know most of the herbs already, too!”
Laylah licked her sister’s forehead quickly to show her sympathy before tearing into her mouse.
“Poor you,” she meowed around the mouth full of meat.
Her sister rolled on her back, letting the slight breeze ruffle through her fur. “I know, I know!”
She was about to answer something when she spotted Azrael walking up to them. She batted her sister’s leg and pressed her nose to the ground as she waited for the Domination to come closer. Next to her Sophia whirled around to greet the tom in a more dignified position, but as the Prophet’s apprentice she did not have to bow to him.
“Rise, Laylah,” Azrael meowed in his deep voice that always reverberated deep inside her. She raised her head but like with Raphael, she found it difficult to meet his eye. Here, it was for a different reason, though.
“You’re accompanying us on the morning patrol,” the Domination informed her before whirling around and picking something off the fresh prey pile. She watched him move, deep in thought. Had he held her gaze for a split second? Had he smiled a bit? Probably no, she decided with a sigh. Next to her, Sophia snickered.
“What?” she hissed.
“Oh, nothing,” her sister replied, an amused purr tinting her voice. “You’re on a patrol with him, huh? Better make sure it goes better than last time if you want to impress him.”
“I don’t want to impress him at all,” Laylah answered, her blood rising to her cheeks with the lie. Sophia had always been able to see straight through her.
Last time she had been on a patrol with Azrael it had not gone too well, and now her sister made sure to never let her forget. The rabbit had been a sure catch, every Acolyte would have been able to get the prey. But Laylah had turned to see if the Domination, back then a simple Authority, just like her, had been watching, and in that heartbeat of distraction, stepped on a branch that had audibly cracked beneath her paws. The rabbit had fled, and, worst of all, Azrael had been watching indeed.
Until today, she could not be quite sure if she had seen him smirk to his friends or if she had made that up herself to make herself feel worse. She was determined to show him that she could do better today.
“Maybe you can give me some herbs that make me pass out in shame if anything like that happens today,” she suggested to Sophia.
“You think he would appreciate you taking the easy way out?” her sister asked, her head tilted. “He rather seems like someone who would be into a true fighter, do you not think?”
“But he would be worried for me,” Laylah mused. “Maybe he would visit me in the Prophet’s den…”
“Why don’t you two talk about toms when you’re back from the patrol?” a voice rasped behind her and she yelped as she recognized it.
“I’ll be there in a second, Azrael,” she whispered, her nose pressed to the ground again.
“Good.”
Laylah waited a few heartbeats until she was sure he was gone before looking up again and breathing out heavily. “He doesn’t know who we were talking about, right?” she asked, her voice high. “We didn’t say his name?”
Sophia grinned at her. “I don’t think so. Now he thinks you have a crush on someone else, though.”
Laylah whined before getting up to her feet. “Let us talk later, all right? And try not to fall asleep again.”
“Me? Never would I ever!” her sister replied with a playful yawn, then got up as well. “Samael will be waiting for me, I expect. We will see how many of the sicknesses I remember he taught me yesterday. I’ll have to tell you some day, some of them are really disgusting!”
Laylah squinted at her sister. She loved her to death, but she was just really weird sometimes. With a flick of her tail, she went to bury the remains of her mouse before moving to join the rest of her patrol. Aside from Azrael, who was waiting impatiently with his ears folded back, Uriel and Dumah were also there. As she stepped closer to the three of them, they were joined by Samyaza and Sizouze, the Acolyte hurriedly swallowing something. Samyaza rolled her eyes. “Someone overslept,” she explained, shooting a pointed glare at the young she-cat. Sizouze coughed, then smiled at the rest of them. “Sorry!”
She didn’t look sorry at all and Laylah had the feeling Azrael felt the same way. “If you like your nest so much, I hope you’ll look forward to changing the nests in the sacred cave later.”
Sizouze’s ears drooped for a second before the Acolyte’s face lightened up again. “That’s alright! I’ll make up for sleeping in by hunting a lot today!”
Laylah looked at her, amused. Had she ever been the same way? She supposed not, but she could remember Sorush having that very same kind of energy when he had been young. Now, he liked to pretend to be mature and calm and all those things, but she knew that deep inside he still had the same old excitement and wonder that had annoyed, yet fascinated his mentors to no end.
The Domination looked at Sizouze for a heartbeat, unblinking, before addressing them all together.
“Today, we will head to the place of the damned again. We will be there to check out what is going on and how the Soulless have developed over the winter, not to fight.” His tail slashed through the air, betraying his calm voice. Laylah felt her heart beat faster and her scar pulled painfully. “It is important that we stay together. We will not attack, but we might need to defend ourselves. Even then, you wait for my signal. I don’t want any one of you to get any spontaneous funny ideas, alright?”
He pierced them all with his green glare until they nodded one after the other. Even Sizouze seemed quieter now, and she realized that the Acolyte had never seen the monsters before. She would be in for a surprise.
“Let’s leave. Listen for prey and look for herbs or anything else on the way there, but we are not taking any risks. Our mission is checking out the place of the damned and then heading back to report without engaging.”
Laylah rubbed the scar on her nose with a paw before following Azrael through the barricade of brambles. A Soulless had given it to her when she had last been there to cull their population. The Choir went out at least every season to check on their numbers and around twice a year to rid the world of these stains. But no matter how many they fought and defeated, there seemed to be a source to them that the cats had never managed to make out, and so the monster’s ranks grew steadily. If there were too many of them, they would start infesting the woods around their place of the damned and become a danger to the Choir’s prey. This was unacceptable, and so it was every Domination’s task to lead their forces into war regularly. In a way, Laylah could be glad she only had her scar to tell of the fights against the unnatural monsters. It was said that Raphael had lost his eye and ear to one of them.
“Are we really going to see the Soulless?” she heard Sizouze ask somewhere behind her.
“Yes,” Samyaza answered curtly, and the Acolyte gasped. “Sidriel and Zarall are going to be so jealous!”
Azrael a few steps in front of Laylah growled. “They are nothing to be happy or excited about. Their souls are lost, forsaken, and they are forever cursed to walk this earth while their very own bodies fight them with every step they take. The Goddesses have abandoned them.”
“That sounds so creepy!” Sizouze exclaimed. “And cool,” she added with a whisper. From the way Azrael’s ears twitched Laylah was pretty sure he had heard the young she-cat, but apparently, he did not deem her worthy of an answer.
She wished she could be as excited as the Acolyte, but she had had one too many nightmares of the monsters for that. When she had seen them the first time a few seasons ago, shortly before she had been made an Authority, she had not been able to breathe properly. All the stories had not done them justice at all, and even now, after having fought against them several times, picturing them in her mind still made her shudder. Still, no matter how scared she had been, she had slain one, completing the ritual required for her to ascend to the rank of Authority. Those who refused or failed three raids in a row were cast out of the Choir, deemed unable to cleanse the world of the forces that corrupted it and therefore unworthy. She remembered how nervous she had been for nephew Abraxos when he had failed his first trial. He had succeeded on the second try, though, and spared his family the shame.
With a shake of her head, Laylah refocused on the task at hand. Their main goal was to check on the Soulless, but still they were expected to hunt and look for herbs to the best of their abilities. And maybe, she thought while sneaking a glance at Azrael, she would be even able to catch something that would make the tall tom compliment her.

tribe of forgotten past. post two.

tribe of forgotten past.

[ 1379 words ]
tl;dr - root, cloud and tiny fish, hoping for a plentiful prey stock, while frost searches for herbs and berries.

Although Frost was disappointed about her lack of prey for her ever-growing tribe and family, the discovery brought a spark of positivity to her day. As Stoneteller, the she-cat knew about the uses and abilities of many different types of herbs, and wild garlic could help them fight infections, especially rat bites. She didn't have much of a clue whether or not rats were popular in the dense forest her and the tribe had made a home in, but she knew that some of the predators nearby did have sharp teeth just like them, and hoped that the herb treated all rodent bites the same.

------

Moons later, her kits had long left the nursery, and she was now the proud mother of two prey-hunters. Tinypebble and Cloudbelly had both been born with the lean figure their father possessed, and were definitely built more for hunting prey than fighting off attackers and defending camp.

Since the joining of her now-mate Walnutwhisker and the naming of her kits, the Stoneteller had thought that giving both Tribe and warrior names to every new member of the Tribe of Forgotten Past would help be inclusive towards her lover, and to possible cats they stumbled across. Walnutwhisker had formerly been a part of a Clan that roamed just a bit away from where the Tribe now called home, but had dispersed due to some conflicts in the higher ranks, and therefore left many cats scattered and abandoned. Letting cats keep their warrior names and also having her other Tribemates have warrior names as well could make the Tribe seem friendly enough to join, especially if any of Walnutwhisker’s old Clanmates ended up stumbling upon the territory like he had. It would also further differentiate the new Tribe from the old Tribe her mother had been a part of. The Tribe of Rushing Water hadn't been nice to Bird during a time of crisis, and Frost felt no obligation to keep their traditions exactly the same, especially since she hadn't even been born in the mountains with them. She'd only keep the traditions and things that mattered in her mother's eyes, along with the ones that made the most sense.

Sighing softly, the tabby molly rose to her feet, glancing around. Her daughters were tussling playfully on the side of camp, having not grown out of their kit-like mischief and unashamed of their loud giggles and taunts. Stoneteller made her way over to Tinypebble and Cloudbelly, clearing her throat to get their attention. Both mollies scrambled into a sitting position, staring at their mother with their fur sticking up in odd places, leaves and twigs tangled within the strands.

“Hi, Mother.” Tinypebble chirped first, flicking an ear as she greeted her mother. She had always been the loudest and most charismatic of the two, talking the ear off of any cat that was within earshot. The tabby she-cat always held a curious look in her bi-colored eyes, and would ask questions until her tongue fell off if it were possible without being cut off or shushed. Frost had no idea where she had gotten her bubbly personality, as Walnutwhisker was reserved and calm and she didn’t think she acted this way, but she simply brushed it off. It was adorable, really, both when she was a kitten and now.

Not one to be bested by her sister, Cloudbelly laughed softly. “Hey. Frost.” The rosetted molly had always been an almost identical copy of her father. She was calm and collected, with a soft tone and gentle eyes - except when she was around her sister, of course. The she-cat was also quite the workaholic, often pushing herself into hunting and patrolling whenever she could, and not taking much time to lounge about or converse with other Tribe members.

The two daughters were very unalike. Tiny was bubbly and bouncy, while Cloud was reserved and shy. Tiny preferred speaking to others, while Cloud was okay with just talking to her family members. The only thing they seemed to have in common was their rank of prey-hunter and the fact that their parents were the same, but they got along amazingly, and Frost admired their familial bond.

“The prey pile is getting a bit low and we’re just getting more and more members. Did you guys want to go on a patrol with me?” She asked politely, flicking a single ear and just barely tilting her head. A small chuckle left her lips at the excitement that automatically painted their faces, Tinypebble jumping to her paws with an ecstatic “yes!”

“Can I come?” A new, but familiar voice rumbled from behind her, and the Stoneteller whipped around to see the origin of it.

Frost beamed at the sight of her brother, before she furrowed her brows. “Root, why are you out of the Alpha’s den? You know the rule Bird set was that no one could see the Hierarchy except for the Stoneteller,” she reminded him. Root’s presence was always appreciated, but the leader knew her mother would get frustrated if she thought that the rules she placed weren’t being followed.

The orange-and-white tom blinked at her with his bi-colored eyes. “Oh, c’mon. Mother just barely set those rules a few moons ago, and you’re always way too busy to come visit anyways. It gets boring just sitting in that cave, especially since there isn’t many Beta duties to do right now. Plus, I want to see my nieces.” He turned to glance at Tinypebble and Cloudbelly, both of which were staring at Frost with begging eyes.

Glancing at her daughters before at her brother, she sighed softly, before nodding. “Fine. But if Bird gets angry, it’s your tail,” she warned, before turning and flicking her tail. “Follow me.”

The patrol of four broke through the barriers of camp, making their way far out into the territory. Cloud and Tiny moved forward, leading the patrol and sniffing out every piece of flora they could for scents, sometimes breaking off to chase a scent before coming back, ears pressed back in frustration.

Leaf-bare had left many of the Tribe’s prey sources either hibernating or in another place that was warmer and more plentiful than the redwood forest they resided in. Hunting at night had ended up being more successful than hunting during the day, but it was easier to hunt during the day, so no cats really wanted to go out in the dark.

The group came upon the thickest river on the territory, still rushing heavily despite the cool air. The Tribe hadn’t experienced snow this year, the closest thing to it being the heavy fog that hung over the top of the branches of the large redwood trees. Fish was probably the only prey that hadn’t left the area yet.

“Do you want to fish?” Frost asked gently, glancing around at her family. Tiny and Cloud were already peering into the rushing water closely, crouching to where their shadows didn’t darken the water and alert the fish of their presence.

Root nodded back, staying quiet as he padded down the river, giving Tiny and Cloud enough room to fish without his fishing getting in the way. Sitting down on the bank, he wrapped his tail around his paws before dipping his head to peer into the water, glancing for any flashes of scales. He really hoped fish was just as plentiful as it usually was.

Deciding to leave prey-hunting to the three cats, the brown and white molly decided to sniff around for some herbs, especially since colds and other illnesses ran rampant during the cold season. Frost was still learning a lot about some of the herbs located in her forest and what they did, along with learning about some of the herbs that even Bird knew, but she had been doing her best, and she knew that the only way she could learn was to continue taking home herbs and experimenting with them.

She also wanted to grab some berries for her mother, as Bird often enjoyed the softer, sweeter fruits, and they were fun to nibble on as she thought. With her goals in mind, Frost sniffed at the root of trees, sniffing around for both berries and herbs, her ears perked in focus.

ShiverClan

SoulShadow trailed behind SageFur and her apprentice as they wandered, looking for a few herbs and plants that she was running low on for her medicines. He couldn't help but admire her from afar. He hadn't known her for very long. In fact, he was fairly new to the clan. Only recently being fully accepted into the clan at the learner ceremony when the clan visited the Tribe Of Rippling Water. He hadn't expected to be invited to the ceremony, let alone be offered a fighters name. He was honored, though. And now that he was a full fledged part of the clan, he could settle down. He could take a mate, and he had his eyes set on a certain Herbalist.
"Are you just going to stare at her the whole time?" JaggedClaw mewed softly, but with a protective air to his words. He was SageFur's brother, adopted by their parents when he was found a few days old abandoned and weak. He had almost died, but now, the scruffy looking dark cat was one of the clan's best fighters.
SoulShadow turned his head to look at his companion, "I don't know what you mean." He hesitated, slowing his pace to a stop. SageFur and NightPaw had stopped, finding a plant particularly interesting, she was speaking to him, quietly. He sat down, looking at his paws. Suddenly he was almost nervous. JaggedClaw could see right through him.
JaggedClaw rolled his eyes, flopping down on the ground. "You know exactly what I mean." He paused, licking his paw and then stretching his claws out. "You like my sister. I've noticed how you look at her." He looks up towards her as he speaks. "Don't be a mouse, get some courage and talk to her. You aren't getting any younger." JaggedClaw's eyes glint with humor.
SoulShadow winces and sighs, "How long have you known?" Looking toward the other cat for answers.
"Only as long as you've been around, and I'm not the only one. She notices, too, but im not sure if she's too proud or just unsure to say anything." The black cat gives him a pointed look, "I, for one, think you should say something. She likes you too, you know. "
At that, SoulShadow perks up, "She does?" looking at JaggedClaw for confirmation. With a nod from his companion, he stands and trots over to SageFur who is now wrapping up some sort of bundle and sends her apprentice off with it to pile with the rest of the herbs they are taking back with them. He nudges her gently and she turns to greet him.
"Oh, hi SoulShadow." She mews softly, "Everything okay? " she asks, noticing his nervous expression.
He nods and starts to speak, "I was wondering if you would want to go on a walk with me later today if you won't be busy."
"Sure! That sounds nice." SageFur replied, "I look forward to it. But, for now, we should probably do a little hunting before we return to camp. I've found all the herbs I needed."
SoulShadow grinned, "Of course, and we can come back to grab your herbs in a bit." He heads back to JaggedClaw, letting her know they can start hunting now. The black cat goes off to join NightPaw as they attempt to track down one of the many squirrels found in the forest. SoulShadow quickly trails a scent of a vole and soon finds and dispatches the small creature. After a short while, the four cats successfully have a small pile of prey and a few bundles of herbs that they pick up and bring back to camp.

Heatherstar surfaces from the ocean with a great gasp, dragging himself onto sandy shore. He shakes himself out, first one leg and then another to try and get as much excess water from his fur as he can, grimacing at the sand he is sure will be a pain to get out of his fur later. Still damp, and more than a little miserable because of it, he pulls himself further up the shores, staggering a little, and glances up.

The island looks so much bigger now that he's actually here.

Well. He takes a deep breath, puffing out his chest for no one but himself. He'd made it, but his work was only just beginning. There could be no clan with only one living cat, no camp, no prey. It was possible he'd be able to convince some of the cats back home to make the swim (if the ghosts were right, he doubted there were any still-living cats on the island), but they'd have to have something worthwhile awaiting them.

First things first. He had to find a perfect place to set up a camp, and hopefully find some prey along the way. Apparently, swimming all the way from the mainland could make you very hungry...
