I've been organizing my pets by different aesthetics and collections. I used to organize by month, year, and breed, but that became really, really expansive with how many groups I had. I narrowed it down to collections and aesthetics, but now I have such a hard time keeping track of what pets are where haha! It's kind of a conundrum when you start getting into the thousands in pet numbers.

I organise mine by month. Up until recently, I used to organise them by year and species, but I found that organising by year and month (well, and events) makes things much easier. I can count all the existing pets in the archive for the month, and then I put [-2] for example in brackets behind the name of the group if I'm missing any. Since my wishlist is 110 pages long, organising my pets like that makes it a little easier to keep track of which ones I'm still looking for.
Each year also has two trade groups, one for the regulars and one for event pets.
I'm still sorting through the groups, but feel free to take a look!

I sort by species and sometimes by set. Ex. PPS, Store Pets, Warriors, and Staff Pets have their own separate groups.
Never really liked sorting by year/month + species because it feels like way too many groups. My personal preference: it’s a little annoying for someone trying to trade to have to scroll through 50+ groups(many of which are usually nft hoards). It can be discouraging/intimidating and they might just trade someone else instead.
Small and simple is where it’s at.

This is basically what I do too. I have a monthly swap group and an event swap group. Then I have a trade group that I dump the monthlies and events into when the new month/event comes.

my collection groups sorted by year and species or event, like a personal archive. the collection groups are always locked so people trying to trade me don’t have to scroll through hundreds of groups to find pets. my trade groups are sorted by rarity only so that it’s easier to find things.
i’ve also grouped/ordered my groups as such:
1. ongoing event if applicable
2. trade groups by ascending rarity
3. current year collection groups
4. incomplete collection groups
5. favorite pets and litters
6. hoards
7. completed collection groups
i did this mostly for ease of access for me. i move things to the current year collection and trade groups very often, so i keep those at the top so i don’t have to scroll. i almost never need to go through the completed yearly species or event groups so they sit at the bottoms so they’re out of the way.
im tempted to change my system to match the archives better, but for now this is what works for me!
