    Fumi: Cover Fumi
    Prompt:
Child: with how unique they are, from birth this fumi was looked at differently and practically out-casted. Their family, who look nothing like them, struggled with accepting them, which had influence on other fumis and how they treated them. Though they lived in their happy little world, not understanding why no one wanted to play or chat with them. This caused them to gain imaginary friends that followed them through out life.
Teen: growing more into who they are the fumi started to understand why others looked at them differently and surprisingly enough it didn't bother them. They were comfortable in their own skin and wasn't going to let it bother them. This caused others to actually start looking up to them. Everyone had their thing they were embarrassed to share or express but this fumi was all out there.
Adult: now adored by practically everyone this fumi is well know, they don't mind the attention, but they can get overwhelmed. To relax they retreat to their imaginary friends at the end of the day. Life overall was easier for them because they learned self love early on, this allowed them to not be bothered by peoples negative opinions about their life or how they looked.

Does/did your fumi have an imaginary friend? What did they look like/what happened/etc?
Required: ART colored fullbody (can be sketch or lines) or WRITING minimum 300 words.

Fumi: Cover Fumi
Prompt:
    Toddler
Wow wow wow! Being outside is just so exciting. This fumi burst forth into the world with all the energy of a tiny sun. It was beyond exciting to be able to run around in the green grasses. It was like a grassy ocean that hid this fumi from view. They enjoy playing pretend as they run around and hide in the tall stalks. One day they could be a land shark, cutting their way through the grass. Maybe another day could be trying to find a friend among the fields to play with. It is hard to find friends since they can't even see them with all these tall hedges, but with large sparkling eyes, anything is possible!

    Child
What is there to do when no one is around? Everyone seems to have left to do their own cool things, but they are stuck in this garden. It's so boring to just wait around all day. Someone, anyone, provide some reprieve and relieve them of their duties! They can feel the moss slowly creep over their limbs and mushrooms grow on their backs as they wait for time to pass. The grasses are still tall, the trees are still spindly, but what else is there to do besides look cool in the summer sun and wait.

    Adult
The breeze is gentle as it blows past their fur. There may be no fumi around but there are plenty of friends hiding in the tall grasses if one is patient enough to befriend them. They stand tall over the swaying grass and among the green, they can see the animals that have made their way into the garden. The animals cannot talk but they seem attentive when the fumi regales them of the duties for the day and the progress report of the plants in the garden. Blanketed by the sunlight and the shade of large canopies, a nap is exactly what they need after a long day.

    Fumi: Illyria
Week 3 Prompt: What has life been like for your fumi/how have they seen the world throughout their stages of life?

    Child
Illyria was born on Earth and from the time she could speak was avidly curious about the creatures (flora and fauna) on this planet. Growing up, she was quite precocious. She had about a thousand questions for everyone she met. A handful of fumi's provided her with guidance, the most predominant being Willow. He made the world less mysterious, showing Illyria the best areas to get food, where she could find shelter, and how to grow her orchids. While she enjoyed the company of others, Illyria always felt comfortable alone in the wilderness, allowing the forest to care for her.

    Teen
As she grew up, Illyria was able to travel more independently and go on longer expeditions. The period between her in the company of others and out trekking through the terrain seemed to only grow. The world as a whole was less mysterious, but Illyria didn't really understand her place in it. She was providing the sickly land with her orchids, but there had to be something else out there. This is when the pull to travel back to the fumi home planet began to snowball. Earth had lost its glow, and Illyria was ready for her next adventure.

    Adult
For a number of years, Illyria kept on as she was, fluctuating between the company of others and total solitude. Some would say she was now a bit of a lost soul, but Illyria considered herself to simply be a wanderer. She genuinely enjoyed every individual she encountered and loved hearing their stories. There was still the nagging in her head of wanting to experience a new place. So finally, Illyria did. Her travels took her to the origin of fumi's. While it was spectacular, the experience made Illyria realize home was on Earth. It was where she grew up, where her friends were, and it just took her time to realize that.

Week 4 Prompt: Does/did your fumi have an imaginary friend? What did they look like/what happened/etc?
From a young age, Illyria was often on her own adventure. This planet always held such wonders for her and she could not help but want to explore it all. Often on these long journey's, Illyria would conjure up a friend to talk to. It often started as simply spotting a pretty bird or a deer in the distance, and then that becoming her travel companion. Every journey this process started anew, but Illyria had great fun creating stories for all her new friends.

One of Illyria's favorites was Eloise the bear. Eloise was a black bear Illyria had seen taking a snooze in a sunny meadow. She didn't want to disturb this bear, but Eloise "happened" to follow Illyria on her adventure through the woods. Eloise was a friendly bear who had run away from the circus to live amongst the wilds. She entertained Illyria with tales of the various acts she had performed as well as other curious animals she had met. Of course, these were all animals Illyria had heard stories of from other fumi's. Besides her circus tales, Eloise always led Illyria to the honey traps and best blueberry bushes. There was son day the two of them ate so many berries their tongues turned blue. On this particular journey, Illyria was traveling to a great waterfall (Niagra) and once she reached her destination, Eloise said her farewells.

While Illyria is now a little older, she looks back on her youth with fondness. Truth be told, her own memories get muddled with the stories and friends she made up. Sometimes when retelling of her travels Illyria lets something slip that wasn't quite one of her own experiences. Naturally, these details are written off as being part of the exaggeration a storyteller has, but Illyria doesn't know better.

    quiche cat's fumi:
    ____N A V I
what has life been like for your fumi/how have they seen the world throughout their stages of life?
_____child – new. everything was new, and frankly, quite scary. there were so many noises, and smells, and colors to see and textures to feel... it was all a little overwhelming. when navi's parents told him to go outside and play, he'd slink away to the old oak tree in the yard and plop down next to it, in a place where the grass was now flattened from the many, many times that he'd retreated to this very spot. here, all he could hear was the howling of the wind, the occasional creature in the undergrowth or a bird soaring up above, and his breathing-- which eventually slowed down as he eased himself into a peaceful slumber, calmed by the sunlight that caressed his face.
_____teen – navi was (mostly) able to decide what he wanted to do and when, and being holed up in his room was the best choice he could make. he cherished that alone time, since his parents were always nagging him about going to hang out with friends, to get out of the house for a breath of fresh air. but the thing was, navi's idea of fresh air was to stay inside, where everything was familiar and not new. whenever he was with a group of fumis, hanging out at someone's house or even at the park, he felt... alone. he'd much rather keep to himself, than have to pointlessly socialize with a fumi who he would probably never see again.
_____adult – computer, playstation, xbox, you name it-- navi had it. after a long and grueling childhood, navi was now living alone and living the life! near the end of his teenage years he'd started playing electronic games, and boy, was that the best decision he could've ever made! he made loads of friends online, who didn't pressure him to go outside or out of his comfort zone, and he'd quickly realized that he had a knack for gaming. and, best of all, although his parents had always told him to go get a job... he didn't have to go anywhere! from the comfort and safety of his home, he programmed, helped people fix their computers over the phone, and played games in leagues where he could earn money for top scores. he couldn't be happier than he was while sitting in front of his monitors!

        — — —

    quiche cat's fumi:
    ____C A N O
what has life been like for your fumi/how have they seen the world throughout their stages of life?
_____baby – cano prides himself in his good memory, especially since he remembers many of the events that happened when he was a wee baby! he has always been an old soul, and although his father and sister, navi and sooda, liked to stay inside, cano preferred the outdoors. he remembers the happiness he felt when his dad took a break to bring the children outside, and how he'd bask in the sunlight, a smile on his chubby little face, until navi decided it was time to go back inside. that was the only time you'd hear a complaint from little cano: when he was pulled out of the sunshine and brought back into the artificial lighting in the house.
_____toddler – now that cano was walking on his own, and going where he wanted to go, cano asked for permission to go outside nearly every waking minute of every day. his dad preferred to be watching cano when he was wandering about, so most days as he was frolicking in the flowers, navi was sitting outside on a chair, headset on, while he watched cano with gentle eyes. of course, there were some times when his dad was working and he had to be content with playing games with sooda, but he didn't entirely dislike those times, either. after all, he loved his sister dearly and enjoyed spending time with her.
_____child – with more freedom, cano was outside most of his days. plenty of times he'd even haul a sleeping bag outside so that he could sleep below the stars, and watch in awe as the fireflies twinkled through the night. he'd already decided that he wanted to run some type of flower or plant shop when he was older, as he was already quite keen on many different types of plants-- there was a little garden beside their house, and guess who took care of it? cano! he was extremely pleased with the size and health of his greenery, and even tried to pull his sister sooda over every once in a while to overwhelm her—not on purpose—with the knowledge of the garden.

        — — —

    quiche cat's fumi:
    ____S O O D A
what has life been like for your fumi/how have they seen the world throughout their stages of life?
_____baby – although her memory of her life as a youngster isn't as good as her brother's, sooda can still remember sitting in her dad's lap, cozy as can be, as he played games and worked. she was lulled to sleep by the sometimes gentle, sometimes lightning-fast clicks of the keyboard and mouse, and the familiar rumbling of navi's voice as he dealt with clients or excitedly chatted with his friends and teammates. the joy her dad felt seemed to radiate off of him and soak into sooda, and she knew that as soon as she was able, she wanted to do the same thing her dad was doing!
_____toddler – sooda was constantly at navi's side. whether he was on a device or cooking a meal, she was right next to him, carefully watching his every move. if she was going to grow up to be just like her father, of course she had to learn what he did and how he did it! she'd ask questions upon questions, and listen intently as he answered each and every one of them. sometimes she'd even ask to help, and depending on the complexity of the project, her dad would let her help with a bit of it. a few mouse clicks here, a few banana peelings there... just call her navi junior, because sooda was becoming her dad's mini-me!
_____child – having a close relationship with your parent and sibling was the best thing in the world, and although sooda wasn't all too fond of cano's pasttimes, she did try to humor cano as he blabbered on about his plants, since her brother was nice enough to play games with her whenever she asked. sooda did spent the most time with her dad, though, since she was now able to understand a lot of the games he played-- he even gave her a cool headset for her birthday, and now she'd met dad's online friends and occasionally played with them, too! she was taking small, confident steps towards being a pro gamer, just like her dad had become.

      Fumi: giedras
      Prompt:
As a child, Giedras was rather carefree. They would help with the family farm, but most of the time they were off in the fields, daydreaming and doodling in little sketchbooks their mother would give them. They were always made of a soft leather, bought from one of the markets in town, with a little black pen and a number 2 pencil to go along with it. They were told to write things down, but most of the time they liked to draw instead, which was fine with their caretaker as well.

When they came to be a teenager they found themselves more focused on work. Aside from helping with the farm, they now had school to take care of each day of the week, and tried their best to keep up with it. They didn't always do perfect, but they got the job done, and sometimes they'd have a pretty drawing or a test marked with an A to show to their mother, who would proudly hang it on the fridge with a little red-dotted magnet.

And then they came to be an adult. They took over the family business, being well aware of most of the routines and guidelines that needed to be followed. They knew the workers who had been their most of their life, the animals and the fields and every part of it. When their mom passed, it took a toll on them, but they found renewed strength in focusing on the farm, and eventually brought home a son of their own.

      Fumi: elix [bottom sprout]
      Prompt:
When Elix came into the world it was cold and scary. It took them a long time to adjust, and they would cry often for their parent's guiding touch, wanting nothing more than to feel safe in their arms. Giedras found as Elix grew that he liked toys with red and blue on them, and from time to time would find the little sprout asleep with a small horse-like doll that they had made by hand.

As a toddler Elix was unstoppable. Once he learned to walk he would wander around the farm (with his parent making sure he didn't get into too much trouble,) playing with the horses, goats and cows, or singing to the sprouting plants that made up the rows of plowed fields.

And as a child, he only became more boisterous, having many things to tell his parent, from things he saw in the yard to bugs that would land on the window, or the new people who would come in and out of the Ranch's buildings, excitement high in his voice as he spoke.

      Fumi: rusty
      Prompt:
Rusty had always worked at the ranch. When he started, he was just a teen and it was his first job, and if he thinks about it hard enough he can remember being nervous on his first day. His hands trembled slightly as he listened to the owner of the farm and the other workers guide him in how to properly care for the animals, the equipment, and the growing plants. With enough time he grew more confident, and event left the farm, for a time, to work in other places.

As a young adult he made his way to other parts of the country. He traveled to different states, taking work wherever he could find it best. He developed an interested in taxidermy, and took it up as both a hobby and a profession, working with an old man who ran an oddities shop off the side of the road. Eventually, though, he found himself thinking back to where he'd found his start. After a few years he decided he would return, giving the old place a call first before he packed his things once again and headed back to the place he'd called home for as long as he could remember.

And from there he worked. He knew the old farm inside and out, and with a little time to be updated on new procedures and equipment, he found himself in the same routine, working from early morning to night and spending his off-time in the fields, idly chatting with some of the new farmhands or reading an old, worn book as the sun set on the horizon.

      Username: deerbroken
      Fumi: saedrig
      Prompt:
Created from a cloning program, Saedrig was treated a bit differently at the hospital he'd grown up at. Monitored for any health problems or concerns, once they deemed him healthy he was able to go to a foster home. He was young, and didn't understand the world, his parents confused and a bit odd when they found out that he had an identical match somewhere out in the world. They took good care of him, but eventually sought out their true parent, and offered to bring them for a short meet at one of the local cafes.

As Saedrig entered into the toddler stage, he found himself more interested in the farm, often asking for Giedras or Elix when a dull moment found him. His foster parents would tell him they'd see them both again soon, but it became increasingly obvious that the young sprout wanted to spend more time out in the country. They began to ask Giedras about what it might be like to move him there, if they would have enough space, all the resources needed to make sure that he would be happy there and well taken care of. It took some time, but eventually they managed to work something out, the young sprout excitedly squealing when he was shown his new room in the little farm house.

As a pre-teen he spent many of his hours in school, studying with the help of his sibling and parent. He helped with chores, too, eager to learn the names of the animals once he had a solid grasp on words, and even got the chance to name a few himself, picking out sounds he liked the most like "alfalfa" and "cuckoo." Within time he felt at home, and comfortable around the new place he'd found himself living in.

    Fumi: Guinevere
    Prompt:
child wrote:A warm blaze twisted and popped within the confines of its stone pit, sending flares of light across the brick walls and coaxing a pair of individuals to lean just so. Shining dapples coated the pages of a well-worn book, making it easy to read its passages and trail a finger beneath each line of its scripture. A world bloomed behind each word, vibrant imagery coming to life with each passing detail.

Perched comfortably on her grandmother’s lap, Guinevere could not yet read, but she still eagerly followed the movement of her grandmother’s hand as it pulled each page up and over, from one side to the other. The elderly woman’s voice was soothing and sweet, a delicate cadence that made each precious tidbit of information flow seamlessly and settle easily into the child’s growing store of knowledge.

Many, many years ago, when Guinevere’s grandmother was exactly her age now, there had once been a small garden lovingly tended to just outside the little brick hut. It was bursting with dew-dripping greens, folded around one another like the delicate crafting of an origami crane, and in the nonexistent spaces between were brilliantly red, orange, and yellow balloon-like foods – vegetables, her grandmother had called them – and there were also tall trellises with sparkling vines braided through them and star-shaped leaves that glowed in the sunlight. It was as beautiful as it was enchanting, and with the fantastical element of a hidden village of fairies strewn in, Guinevere was completely hooked.

She wanted to see a garden one day! She wanted to see the pretty colors and taste the sweet treats it provided and speak with the little fairies it harbored! She wanted to see it!!

But alas, this world was only filled with its rusting machinery, cracked cobbly streets and oil slick puddles.

teen wrote:A strand of cool air creeped through the gap of a wobbly windowpane, streaking across an open textbook and sending a shiver down the spine of the one sleeping on top of it. Pale morning light flitted into the small apartment room, casting dim rays through clouds of dust and giving the room a gloomy blue hue. With a disgruntled huff, the teenager that had been using the book as a pillow stretched her arms out in front of her.

Satisfied with each click of her joints and the rush of new blood to limbs that were still vibrating with numbness, Guinevere propped herself up and pulled away from her desk. Dropping onto the bed on the other side of the room, the teenager promised herself just a small break before she would get back into studying. With schoolwork being as dull and constant as it was, she needed these little moments to herself if she was going to get out of the system intact.

Although she’d never voice it, lest she be compared or grouped into the crazies protesting outside, Guinevere knew she could never follow in the footsteps of those that had preceded her. The lonely history book stranded on her desk claimed with vigor that this new age was a vast improvement on the one that came before it. Pride was stitched into the very binding of it, pouring out uncontrolled when it spoke of the expansion of human civilization and the waste fertile land would have become if they hadn’t changed things.

It was their fault that the land had turned such a vile brown, stained with red rust and coated in the thick globs of leftover oil. Guinevere was determined to make a change as soon as she was on her own. She would reintroduce the world to the beauty that nature once had offered.

adult wrote:This portion of her life was far more grey than she would have hoped – a cloudy, confused color compared the golden hues of her youth and murky blues of her adolescence. Her research, which had evolved from beyond the characteristics and environments of various flowers and trees to the blackened history of her homeland, provided clarity of a time warped by inevitability and loss. Guinevere had once hoped it would back her own theories and support her own causes, but all it did was dredge up questions she didn’t want to answer.

Clutched in a bruised and mangled fist, with a gentle enough grip so as not to crush and waste them, were the last three of the world’s seeds. The bunker Guinevere had collected them from had been ransacked, drawers spilled onto the floor and toppled racks shattered against a concrete floor. Loss had never been so present in Guinevere’s mind until that moment, when all she could see were the scattered remains of a dead world in the form of crushed and powdered seeds.

The little ones she held onto now were practically useless in rebuilding the world she’d dreamed of. Should they take to the rotten soil she’d collected and the muddied water she’d gathered, they would likely only bloom once before perishing. Guinevere wasn’t exactly sure what she would do now, whether or not she’d actually grow these seeds or pass them down to her children. She wasn’t exactly sure what to do with herself, now that her one goal in life was firmly beyond her reach.

Fumi: Valentina
Prompt:

Child:
Valentina yawned softly and stretched her paws. As she sleepily rolled over she suddenly sat up. Rolls! She could smell the distinct sugary sweet smell slowly slip into her room. She grabbed her doll and excitedly ran into the kitchen slipping and sliding on the newly cleaned tiled.

"Val" her mother jokingly scolded. "Remember what we said about running in the hall?"

Valentina nodded exaggeratedly, shifting from paw to paw still excited about the cinnamon rolls.

"Okay sweetpea" Valentina's mother smiled warmly, "Go ahead and have one, be careful to not burn your tongue though!"

Teen:

Valentina sighed loudly looking between the cookbook and her dough. It didn't look like the picture and she couldn't figure out why. She sat on the stool and crossed her arms defeated.

"What's the matter dear?" Her mother asked coming into the kitchen

Val continued to pout, "It won't work! They don't look like the picture"

"Here let me see" Val's mother added a little more of certain ingredients and voila! Perfect dough.

"Thanks mom!"

Adult:

Valentina kneaded the dough and turned around quickly once she heard the oven beeping, signifying another batch was done. As she opened the oven the sweet smell from her child wafted out towards her. She felt like a little fumi again as she stood there giddy from the smell. Although she now owned a bakery, she had never gotten over the smell of freshly baked pastries. Especially cinnamon buns.

The bells of her store jingled softly and Val looked up to see what new customer was coming in.

Val nearly dropped her tray in excitement, "Mom!"

Val's mother smiled warmly, "Hello sweetpea, this smells wonderful."

Fumi: Neiđ-Ka
Prompt:
child wrote:They may not remember where they came from, but Neiđ-Ka finds that if their only childhood memories come from lazy sunny afternoons like this one, then their memoires would be well loved indeed. They curled up tighter in Priya's warm embrace, their tiny body rumbling against the tiger's big paws and firm chest. Their eyes slowly drifted closed, lulling them into sweet slumber.

teen wrote:The silhouette of the city skyline rose in the near distance, an alien world to the humid forest they had spent most of their life in. But Neiđ-Ka was ready to meet other fumi, to enter a society of their own kind. The towering concrete jungle before them was more daunting than anything they had ever face before. Still, Neiđ-Ka took that first step forward, into a world unknown.

adult wrote:Sitting upon the porch in the lazy evening heat, Neiđ-Ka watched their children play out of the corner of their eyes, keeping part of their attention on the weaving in front of them. Daiya, lovely awe-inspiring Daiya, was right alongside Ibu and Izel, most likely aiding them in mischief than keeping them out of it. The combination of lazy heat and the familiar company of those they love set their soul at ease and a twinge of nostalgia to their heart.

Prompt:
young nymph wrote:That first moment of consciousness is not always the easiest to grasp nor to retain. For Kiymiren, she began as a small lotus seed that one day grew and formed consciousness as a young, fledgling water nymph. Her river was a vibrant place surrounded by kindred spirits, lake nymphs, and dryads from neighboring forests. It was a good and idyllic life for one so young and naïve.

goddess wrote:Becoming a goddess had never been the plan, nor had it ever been an idea she entertained. However, that is just where she found herself, Goddess of the Sweetest Rivers and Plentiful Blooms. Yet now, she found herself lonely and longing for company in a way she never had before. Her fellow nymphs had disappeared long ago, and time passes much too quickly for her to keep track of the world now.

amnesiac wrote:Kiymiren left her little dwelling on the banks of the river she called home. She did not know why this was home, or how long she had been there, as she had only assumed that the cottage she had woken up in was hers. Life becomes a giant riddle and guesswork puzzle when all you remember about yourself is your name. Gathering her harvest of lotus blooms and seeds, she hoped the money she fetched for them them at the nearby village marketplace would be enough to purchase new embroidery thread. She longed to finish the tapestry that she begun months ago, depicting that scene that comes to haunt her dreams.

Fumi: Divergence - Devon
Prompt:
Part 1
Sweet sugar ran along Devon's lips, staining his black grin a bright shade of artificial blue. The lollypop rattled against little teeth, and he was tempted, but didn't yet bite down on the richly sweet treat. He felt his hands reaching instinctively for his mother's, clasping her delicately manicured fingers with his own sticky little beasts. She pulled back and scolded him, digging for a rag from her purse and removing the residue from her hands, then turning to give his face a good tidying as well. Devon pulled way, squirming and fighting against her grasp, fearing, in that moment, his prize would be taken away.

Part 2
"Devon."
His mother's scolding voice rang with disappointment, her eyes wildly scouring the kitchen counter for even a hint of space. Everywhere, bowls, spoons, splatters of half-finished batter, and - yes, that was food coloring. What perhaps would indeed result in a beautiful rainbow cake looked, for now, like a rainbow hurricane. He rolled his eyes forcefully as he got the same lecture. Supposedly, it would all work out better if he would just keep everything clean and organized. But how could he? This was creativity, color, creation. A resounding sigh was met by more impatience, and together, the two started cleaning up together, batter sitting aside, eagerly awaiting the eventual journey to the oven.

Part 3
"I think it needs more," Devon grinned, brushing paint-covered hands against the old T-shirt hanging loosely from his shoulders. His grin matched his sons', as the whole trio sat amidst a wild array of non-toxic paints and giant papers, little fingers and toes and even little noses now marked with bright blues and greens, muddied mixes of orange, purple, and red. The project was a senseless mural, dashed and dotted with every uncontrolled notion of the toddlers, Devon providing the always-necessary supervision and occasional moral support. He sat back and let them work, reveling in the absolute mess.

Fumi: Yetana
Prompt:
Part 1
Yetana strained again, fat fingers yearning for the fattening fruit hanging just out of reach.
"My darling," her mother called, lifting the giggling girl up to grasp the beautiful pear. As tiny palms cupped its rounded skin, the woman nearly dropped her child. "Yetana!" she gasped, pulling back as her infant now cradled a massive fruit, nearly half again the size it had appeared moments ago. The child looked up in startled bewilderment at her mother's fear, but the juicy bite already missing revealed no secrets - only the sweet flesh of a pristine pear.

Part 2
"This way," her father led her on, hoisting his growing daughter up to his shoulders as they strode together through the grove. Her hands extended outward, brushing along branches and fruits, leaves and vines. She passed this way so often now, bolstering the harvest for her family and beyond, but even as she tired of the sights, she found rest in her father's company. The duo walked on, every now and again separating to give her father's shoulders rest. Yetana danced, leaves overhead casting flashing shadows across her skin, her flowing hair. But even hearing her father's laughter couldn't ignite the spark she was missing. The journey was familiar, it was not hard to make. Yet it seemed to stir something in the girl, something restless. As she spun through the thicket, the leaves grew wider, the trees, taller, and with each step, she grew farther and farther from her father's view.

Part 3
Birds called incessantly, the roar of humming insects drowned only by the rush of wind whipping leaves against branches through the endless jungle. Yetana rested almost entirely shadowed, deep in the heart of the island. Where once a village stood, a family lived, a little girl grew, now only brambles and vines, roots and resentment grew. Overhead, a glistening moment of color caught her, and she reached upward, only just brushing her fingers against the fruit's soft skin. A lovely, overripe pear, sickly sweet, ready to fall.

    snap! snap! snap!
a few minutes later and the basket was filled.
that should be enough, better head back before they wake up.
resentment wrapped around his chest and squeezed.
    it wasn’t fair.

    huh.
wouldn’t this be a perfect opportunity to take over ? how convenient.

    - and familiar sight.
something blurred on the edge of his memory. an unpleasant feeling wedged itself into his chest.
but it didn't matter anyway right? whatever he did was over and done with. it was best to get going, it was staring to get late.
    anything he did?
there was something at the edge of the thought, but as soon as he reached out, the words blurred and floated away from his grasp.
    did he forget something?
