━━━ 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬
[]17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|outside|tags: Orin, Felix, Hank

Auggie grit her teeth at the revelation that Felix had known, confirmation of what she already knew, but still didn’t want to believe. The panic in her chest was twisting into something more, morphing from fear to rage, anger that Felix had known this was going to happen and just let it. She didn’t have time to think about why. She didn’t have time to try to understand the choices he’d made. She’d tell him off later, it didn’t matter if she got into another fight, if she started turning into that person again—the one she’d denied being earlier on—none of that matter now, what mattered was the son of Zeus, usually obnoxiously upbeat—reduced to a weak, shaking form, practically folding in on himself.

She shook her head frantically at Felix’s response to her question. “No...no, no.” She couldn’t seem to stop repeating that damn word, but she wasn’t about to accept what he was saying. “Then we find someone who does,” she insisted. “Anything, please, you have to be able to do something. You can’t just…” let him die. She shook the thought away, trying vainly to bring back the anger she’d felt moments before, trying to feel anything other than the panic that was creeping in, clawing its way up her throat and revealing itself in the shake of her voice, the lump in her throat, the burning and blurriness in her gaze. She wasn’t going to be reduced to that. There was no reason for it. “You have to do something, Felix. You have to.” It was hard to ignore the trembling in her voice, the way that it almost cracked on the last syllable, the way it sounded more like desperate pleading than a command, but she tried.

Her gaze flicked to Orin, a tsunami of emotions barely held back behind her usual mask, the attempt at one at least. It was breaking. She swallowed, trying to stop her voice from shaking when she spoke again. “You’re fine. You’re gonna be fine.” She had never been one for comforting lies but that wasn’t what this was. It was true and she had to believe that it was true because the alternative would break her. She looked back at Felix pleadingly. He had to do something. He couldn’t just give up. “Yes there is. There is. There has to be.” It was supposed to be forceful, commanding, as if she could fix everything just by saying those words, but her voice came out with undertones that were weaker and more pathetic than she meant it to be.

She didn’t want to freak Orin out more than he already was. She didn’t want to make any of this worse. She knew she had to hold it together, but the threads of her composure were wearing thin. Then Orin said he was cold. That was something she could fix, she could do that. She shrugged off her jacket, barely feeling the cold biting into her when the wind hit the exposed skin of her arms. Her hands were already freezing, it didn’t matter, none of it mattered. “Here.” She moved closer to help him put the jacket on, ignoring the nagging voice in the back of her head that was trying to tell her it wouldn’t make a difference, that she could ignore the facts all she wanted but that wouldn’t stop the world from caving in regardless.

Then somebody else was there, a voice that barely registered through the growing haze of panic in her brain. Hank. He was a son of Apollo too. Of course he was, camp was practically swarming with them, and for once, that had to be a good thing. There were more than enough healers to deal with this. They could deal with this. The continued insistence that he was fine when everything was clearly so far from fine was almost comical, the exact thing Felix had gotten annoyed at both of them for earlier on and now… He requested a pain au chocolat from Hank and if she hadn’t been trying so hard to hold back the sting of tears from escaping her eyes and calm down the stampeding beat of her heart, she might have smiled. The lightness of his words, contrasted with the way that he said them, with the state he was in, it felt like another punch to the ribs, harsher than the one that had cracked bone earlier.

At Felix’s suggestion, she moved to the other side of Orin to help support him, to bring him to Cabin One. It felt like they were reliving something, like a macabre performance of a moment that hadn’t been quite so clouded with darkness. But maybe it had. Maybe it had been leading here all along. As soon as I saw you. Felix had known. He had known then and hadn’t said anything. She bit back her resentment, the onslaught of curses that she would’ve liked to throw at him. The only thing that mattered right now was getting Orin back to his cabin, getting someone to fix this, to get them both to stop acting as if there was nothing they could do, as if there was an inevitable ending to this. She glanced sideways at Orin, doing a poor job of masking her concern. “You’re gonna be alright, Pikachu. You are. You still have more raves in you.” It was a bad attempt at a joke, the humour ruined by the shake in her voice.

Vittorio cringed when the daughter of Hermes replied with a mouthful of food, not bothering to hide his distaste at her bad manners. He raised his eyebrows, looking from her to the fight breaking out, as if questioning whether she was going to do anything. It was clear that she didn’t plan to. She didn’t seem nearly as concerned as the situation would prompt someone to be. He swept a glance around the dining pavilion, most of the other campers seemed to be staring at the commotion, but nobody was actually doing anything to stop it. Where were the counsellors? Or really anyone in charge? “Should we...try to find someone?” he asked finally, seeing that the girl clearly wasn’t coming to that conclusion herself. He drew in a sharp breath when the punch landed, gritting his teeth. He wasn’t exactly opposed to fights or violence—he would’ve denied it, but it was something he was fairly used to—though he did try to avoid them if he could, given his history, and this seemed more serious than a typical lunchtime brawl. Then the chanting began, only adding to the rampant chaos unfolding in the dining pavilion. “This place...is insane,” he muttered, not really to anyone in particular but still loud enough to be heard by those around him.

delilah arrived, the loud voices that were once welcoming now felt extremely overwhelming as she arrived. ducking her head down, she headed to grab a few things to eat. gripping her plate she sighed, nails tapping and clanking against it. she didn't know where to sit, the hypnos table left empty and would only be a bitter reminder ash was gone. the aphrodite table seemed less enticing now that mira had gone, she debated on heading back to her cabin before spotting chuck. 'chuck! he's definitely relaxing' she noted, walking over quickly. plopping down, she smiled awkwardly "hey chuck." she greeted, hearing the familiar tune of the beatles coming from his headset. "nice music."

anastasia turned her head quickly as celeste entered, not recognizing her she was quite curious about who she might be. 'she looks a bit older than a regular camper' she thought to herself, perking up as the girl greeted her in russian. anastasia lit up, a rare small smile grew on her face "privet moy drug!" she spoke excitedly, it was extremely rare for the chances of her meeting someone who spoke her mother language, it was very nice. "oh yeah, I should go eat." she nodded at cain, glad he had reminded her. "I will leave you be." turning she exited the cave, the cold air welcoming her.

Sa'd gave Zahra a lopsided smile in return causing the teen's features to look mischievous though that was far from their intentions.

"Oh. I suppose she would be. Expesially at a time like this. There's a sparring ring in front of the cabin with a boar's head and barbed wire. You could always let her, and yourself, blow off some steam there." Sa'd offered.

"I, uh, y ok u're welcome." Sa'd stuttered not used to being thanked.

Sa'd reached out to pet Zahra before quickly retracting their hand once realizing what theybwere doing.

"Sorry. A-are you fluffy? Sorry its a weird question. You obviously don't have to answer if you don't want to." Sa'd said before she bounded away.

A kiss with a fist is better than none

Postby WitchHazel » Fri Apr 09, 2021 6:29 am

||Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Big House Ruins|Tags: Quest Group; Laurel|

"Just don't forget that if no one else has your back, I will. Always."
The tight fist of emotion closed around Mirabelle's heart; squeezing the tender organ in its grasp. She wasn't sure if it was guilt she was feeling, gratitude, or even a mixture of the two. "I - thank you." She returned Aiden's smile, though hers was close-lipped. Convincing as it was, the muscles of her face felt strained. He won't be so keen to support you once he finds out what you've done. Anxiety rearing its ugly head again. But that didn't make the statement any less true in her eyes.
Teilo and Ash had joined them; their banter providing a welcome distraction from her thoughts. She nodded at Aiden's confirmation that it was just Karter they were waiting for. Right. Keep yourself together, Mirabelle. It won't do to have them treating you like a fragile little flower. So quit acting like one. She gritted her teeth as she turned towards Firefly, mentally preparing herself to mount the pegasus.
The mare snorted nervously and pawed at the snow-covered ground. Her ears swiveled this way and that as she eyed the growing group of demigods warily. Mirabelle reached out a gentle hand to stroke Firefly's face, whispering softly to the pegasus in order to put her at ease. Though still cautious of the other campers, the dapple grey's muscles started to lose their tension. Mirabelle wished the same could be said for herself.
In one swift, graceful action, the willowy blonde heaved herself up onto the equine's back. The familiar feel of a saddle beneath her was a small comfort, not to mention the warmth seeping through her clothes from Firefly's large body.
"Right. So we're just waiting for Karter, and then... we leave." She wasn't sure who she was talking to, necessarily. Despite her best efforts, reluctance seeped through into her tone. You're doing the right thing, she had to remind herself. If you stayed here, you'd only go mad with worry over the members of the quest. Besides, this is the best way to protect everyone. You know that. Shifting gears, she eased Firefly a little closer to Thunder and Bolt. Why Laurel was bringing both pegasi was a mystery to her, though she didn't voice it. Instead, she turned to the daughter of Zeus with a pleasant expression.
"Laurel, you'll have to lead the way for now; you're the only one who actually knows where we're going." Mirabelle wasn't sure how she felt being led by someone so headstrong and occasionally reckless, but she didn't have a choice at this point. After they reached Laurel's aunt's house, the daughter of Aphrodite would be able to take more of an authoritative role. She knew where they needed to go, after all, and had already promised to be navigator for Teilo as he drove. She certainly wouldn't call herself the leader. No, that wasn't her, despite her many leadership qualities. But a quest didn't necessarily need a leader - just someone to facilitate discussion and make sure everyone was willing to work together. Conflict between questers could get them all killed. She had learned that the hard way.

||Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Dining Pavilion; Hermes Table|Tags: Vittorio|

"Now it's getting good!" Juliet remarked loudly. "Quality entertainment. Even better than watching MMA or hockey." She couldn't see much above the surging chaos that was the Hermes table, but the loud crack that rang out across the pavilion was enough to tell her someone had broken something. She wasn't too worried; with nectar and ambrosia they would probably be fine.
"Should we...try to find someone?"
Juliet barely heard the boy above the clamour of voices. "Huh?" she turned back to face him, fist still held aloft. "Oh yeah. Probably." She shrugged, making no move to get to her feet. It was clear Juliet had no intention of leaving. She took another bite of her assorted meats, glancing over to see what she could of the two girls fighting between the bodies of her cabinmates. She nearly missed his next comment; something about camp being 'insane'. "I know, right?" A lopsided grin took up residence across her face as she returned her gaze to him. "This place is awesome."

||Kathryn Blackwood|17|She/Her|Hecate|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Lucy, Riley|

Blood began pouring from Lucy's face in a torrent. Kathryn was no doctor, but it was obvious the girl's nose was broken. Ah, the perfect opportunity to help Lucy play the victim. Wasting no time, Kathryn darted over to Lucy's side, but the daughter of Apollo was already on her feet. Ooh, she's pissed. Lucy was doing an excellent job of hiding it as usual; looking as if she were about to cry again. Kathryn didn't miss the balled fist at her side.
"Oh my gods, Lucy! Are you okay?" No, Lucy was not okay. That much was obvious. But asking that question made Kathryn seem like more of an airhead, playing into her own act of innocence. Kathryn gently laid a hand on Lucy's shoulder in an act of feigned concern. Well, mostly feigned. It was all she could do to keep the eyebrows from shooting off of her face when she noticed the genuine worry tugging at her twisted little heart.
Furrowing her brow, she rounded on Riley. Sorry about this, Riles. Nothing personal, just business. Or wait... maybe it is personal. Kathryn couldn't deny the anger boiling under her skin. As much as she enjoyed Riley's company, she idolised Lucy. Seeing the daughter of Apollo hurt like that really ticked her off. She allowed a bit of the outrage show on her face, mixing with the shock and sadness. "How - how could you?" Tears sparkled in her chocolate eyes, threatening to spill over onto her cheeks. It was all part of the act, of course, but the lines had become a little blurred by this point.

||Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Delilah|

"Uh, yeah, I was listening to the Beatles until like, all that started." Chuck gestured to the drama by the Zeus table as a nervous grimace shaped his long features. "Hey, you seen Chiron or like, anyone? I think they're gonna like, kill each other or something if someone doesn't like, do something, you know?" His voice cracked considerably more than usual, betraying how anxious the situation was really making him. He hadn't caught most of the conversation in the beginning, but when the fighting started he couldn't help but wonder what it was all about. I'll like, find out soon enough. Especially given that Kathryn was involved. That girl passed around gossip like party favours. "They uh - they started fighting and like, it got gnarly real quick."
Taking a minute to breathe, Chuck cast a glance around the space for any sign of an authority figure. He uttered a sigh of relief when he spotted Mr. D entering the pavilion. Hopefully, the wine god would put a stop to this madness.

||Zahra Al-Amin|217/Looks 32|She/They|Magician; Eye of Sekhmet|Location: Cabin 8|Tags: Laika|

"No need to knock, just come in."
Zahra carefully opened the door, slipping inside so not to let the cold air penetrate the room. Just because she couldn't feel the cold much themself didn't mean the woman sitting before her wouldn't get chilled. "I apologise for the intrusion," the magician stated softly. If they didn't know any better, she would have thought the woman was studying for an exam or a paper. Notes littered the desk she was sitting at, piled in organised stacks beside her.
Zahra didn't have to be an expert in perception to notice the scar curling from the woman's left ear down her neck. The same scar the pale lioness wore. It should have been more surprising to find that the lioness was in fact a woman as well, but Zahra couldn't say they hadn't suspected it. Magic or no, Lions weren't native to the United States. It would have been rather odd to see one who was not a mythological creature, animal charmer, or exotic pet of some sort.
"I was hoping we could have talk about goings-on." The English was a little clumsy on her part, she had to admit. They hoped it got her point across well enough. "Perhaps share information with one another." It was a stretch, Zahra knew. Asking this sharp figure to trust them in that manner. Still, she was beginning to grow desperate. I cannot leave my Nome - the gods - my family for much longer on their own against the Ogdoad.

Nathan nodded, "True. Sometimes it's kinda sad - they'll never know the truth. And even if they do, it drives them insane. Then again, I'm sure they're having a joy using social media. No danger of being attacked by monsters." The words hadn't meant to come out bitterly but unfortunately they did. He wasn't very sure what mortals normally did, his memories of being in Massachusetts were a blur, and he often envied their lifestyles. They had to be better than a half-blood's world, right? He was glad that she took her time to help his plants, Emerson had alway seemed to make everyone happy, at least to him anyways. Nathaniel grinned at her suggestion. "Yep, they absolutely love Riptide! Sooo, Riptide for the winners and maybe another Vance Joy song for the losers?" Knowing his garden, the flowers probably would have thrown lots of praise to him and Emmie. It was exhausting but apart of his daily routine. He wasn't exactly sure about awarding their bets now that Nathan had thought about it more - if Mira for example had passed away on the quest, he would be too upset to sing for his plants. It was a tough situation to say at the very least.

He appreciated the warmth of her hand on his. It surprisingly had helped a lot more better than his hoodie. He squeezed back. He shook his head, "It's alright. I'm not that hungry." That was a lie. Nathan did his best to pretend it wasn't. "I'm sure a little walk wouldn't hurt. I personally think I need one," he joked. "My sleepy bones need to wake up. Unless you want to eat lunch right now," he quickly added. "Then we can head out to the mess hall." He touched his sunflower crown which reminded him. With the little energy he had, Nathaniel summoned some daisies out of thin air and using the wire he had in his pocket, quickly transformed it into a flower crown. Using his free hand, he gave it to Emerson. "A little gift from me to you." He smiled when he held out the altered daisies.

"Interesting," Nathan repeated. He wouldn't have exactly describe the previous events using that word but it certainly had been interesting. "I guess so." He hadn't been relieved to know that she hadn't had any dreams. Usually his dreams were forgettable but this one kept coming back to his thoughts - darkness and snow suffocating him. It would have brought a little comfort to him to know he wasn't alone. "Oh, that's, that's good," Nathaniel managed to say. He decided not to mention his nightmare, continuing to walk. "Y'know, I was thinking about my summer plans." He cleared his throat. "I mean, if the questers do their thing, I wonder whether or not we'll be able to celebrate the Fourth of July on Fireworks Beach with everyone together." Seeing the fireworks while hanging out with his cabin mates had always been one of his favorite parts of being at Camp Half-Blood. "It'd be awesome if the Hephathesus campers made really cool fireworks about the crazy things that happened this summer." Last summer's fireworks were a bit about his quest. It had been unbelievably beautiful yet his chest hurt as soon as he saw them.

x──────i ii zeus. iii eighteen. iiii tags: auggie, felix. ivi outside - cabin seven.

    "this is the way things go, auggie, i can't," felix said, the stoic mask shuddering if only for a second. "i have been doing everything for years." orin hadn't thought about that, the burden, the push, but he didn't think it was the best time to be feeling guilty about it. "if there was someone else, then i would know about it, right? i would know."

    a mess of vision drifted to auggie when her voice cracked, and the pain in orin's head moved to a stab in his heart. he hadn't wanted this. he wanted her to go. she wouldn't. she didn't want him to go. he would. a stalemate. a brutality. the snow, the colour of bones, pure and new, became the subject of his sight. it was hurting. it was always going to hurt. she wanted him to believe that it would all be alright. maybe she was just saying it for her own benefit. he'd figured it out by now. the shock had given way to an anger that he couldn't stifle, and that anger had dissipated into a sort of solemn and sordid excuse for acceptance. he had had a long time to process what was going to happen. auggie had only had the morning. they were coping at different speeds. "augs -" he started, but he wasn't sure where he was supposed to go with it. there wasn't a silver lining. there was nothing he could say. it seemed stupid that he was dying and felt shame for it, felt like he had to excuse it away. when he heard her voice crackle again, it didn't seem as stupid anymore.

    "thank you," he mumbled, happy for the extra layer. and then a memory, which came like dust, like a snowflake that had fallen on his skin and melted immediately. something about 'thank you's, something about avoiding them. it didn't seem as though he had to avoid them anymore. so he repeated it. "thank you."

    "thank you, hank," felix seemed to know that there was anger behind his brother's intentions, but didn't care either way. when the boy scampered off to retrieve the pain au chocolat, they were on the move, orin's feet not doing much for movement.
    "never got to make you a rasputini," he grumbled. that was the real tragedy of it all. "i was gonna..." a thought, there then gone. no point. "nevermind."
    felix cracked then. his breath came in a judder - orin felt it. "okay. okay, change of plan. cabin seven," like he had an idea, like he was scared. the direction changed, like the wind, which seemed to drift around them, a comfort. was orin doing that? he didn't think so. he didn't think he had it in him.

    the cabin came quickly. the warmth of inside didn't offset orin's tremor, but it was enough to make him somewhat comfortable. "i can..." hope. evident, a flame. "sometimes, if... orin's number's been high before, and we've been able to get it down. with... with the right treatment, the right pills, the right stuff... here. sit down." orin was on a bed. might have been the same one he had been on earlier in the day. felix kept talking, rushing around the cabin, opening drawers and retrieving blister tablets. "so i could get it down. i could... i could - i could delay it. we could get him to a hospital, we could get it drained, and then we could..." orin had been waiting for the panic. he hadn't expected to be awake for it, watching with eyes half-lidded as splotches dotted around his vision, dancing grotesquely, but it was interesting. doctor coyle had become felix again. "i could fix it. maybe. i don't know. i don't know." pills crushed and packets thrown, drawers flung open and clothing articles tossed aside. it was chaos. orin didn't want chaos. he didn't really want to fight till the end like he was supposed to, so leant against the wall, shutting his eyes every so often and letting them drift and check up on the scenes. the checking came further and farther between each time. quite tired now. rather tired.

x──────i ii ares. iii eighteen. iiii tags: kathryn, riley, lucy ivi mess hall.

    the mess of shouting and screaming, accusing and roaring was clouding leo's head - so much, in fact, that in his effort to catch up with the real world, with what was happening, he missed the drawback of the daughter of zeus' hand and subsequent drive into lucy's throat. that was a job botched. she stumbled, fell, and a child of hecate rushed toward her. chants of fight scattered throughout the room. leo felt it in his throat, a clawing, gnawing sensation that hungered for blood. well, he had been asked to do a job. might as well finish it. he had a charge, and riley had hurt them. that didn't bode well.

    "get lucy sorted," he said to - kathryn? maybe - before launching into action, feet stamping around the table and toward the blonde. his hand landed on an arm, the other on the opposite - considered, briefly, transforming his rings into their intended knuckle duster form, but decided against it - and pushed her back. "is he worth it? really?" he asked, not much more than a sneer. "is he worth the trouble? do you think he'd do it for you? he's a coward. through and through. nothing more. i thought kids of the big three were meant to have some kind of... i don't know, intelligence about them. perception. you're all pomp and grandeur. nothing to you. vacuous and dull, superiority complexes through the roof. maybe the rest of us have had enough of his yap and your..." he looked her over, thought for a moment, and settled. "well, have you actually done anything? at least he's a traitor. what are you? do you think you'll get daddy's attention by sticking up for his little halfwit?" it wasn't often he talked so much, especially in throes of anger, but it wasn't anger. he wasn't enraged, it wasn't an explosion, more a rumble, pyroclastic flow rolling toward pompeii before the big bang that would wipe it out. "if you're gonna hit someone, hit me. please. i've been dying for it all day." a pause. "i'll start." a fist drawn back, thrown, hooked. not with as much power as he could have used, but a warning shot.
    and then the door opened, and he heard mr. d come in. there were a lot of words to describe the way he felt about the god's sudden presence, and none of them appropriate to say in front of some of the younger campers.

    the compliment from cain surprised her, but she gave an amused little smile nevertheless. "i hope that is not the type of 'cute' you would use to describe a small animal," she responded, nodding when a name was returned to her. "thank you, cain. you are winsome yourself." it wasn't a shock, nor a moment for offence - in fact, the attentions turned rather quickly to the images that decorated the cave, half abstract and confusing, the other half thought-provoking and equally confusing. "lunch can wait. i am not too taken with it." she had indulged on the strawberries in the field, and the headaches that had plagued her - though mostly gone - had rescinded what was left of her appetite. she was used to unusual mealtimes. it was of no bother, she would get something later.

    she was correct in her assumption of the girl's nationality, and that was pleasant. to see a face light up in a moment of recognition was a little victory. though she disappeared rather quickly to get herself some food, celeste put a little notch in her mind to have a proper conversation with her at some point in the future. always nice to have someone who spoke one's own language around.

    "forgive my nescience, but what is your job?" it wasn't uncommon to find artists who had made a career out of their work, but rather less common to find them holed up in a cave, surrounded by paintings that apparently had 'meaning'. "do they all mean something?" if she had noticed that he seemed rather distracted, she paid it no mind, asking the questions as they came and taking slow steps around the room, looking closely at the teeth. "it does not elicit feelings of comfort, i will give it that."

    eris resigned herself to something like amused silence as nicholas continued to dig his hole for himself, watching patiently as he tried to fumble some semblance of control back in his own words, something that wasn't a mess to be misconstrued or taken with offence. "well, i'm pleased to be in the presence of someone deemed important," she said, lax and not quite annoyed, but with a twist in her tone that suggested something other. she was a primordial goddess, she knew her own power, and though cast down to tartarus, it didn't serve as much of a limitation. the world was bound by chaos, the atoms that bent to her command - she had been around before this version of death, and would be around after. she drove man to vie for riches that were of no true importance, pushed war and so-called peacetime, manipulated each thread to her content. though she had risked the fade, it was of no doubt that she was important. her nephew would be good to keep that in mind.

    he spoke a lot with his hands, and there was history there, but it did not pertain much to her bidding, so she didn't reach for the information. just another ripple, a story underneath a story. "indeed it is. i'm glad you noticed." it wasn't snide so much as a reminder that he was not interacting with a politician anymore. she was not bound to his will, nor bothered about friends or enemies. that was her proxy's domain, something he had done of his own volition. she had simply pushed him gently forward. and the question -
    well, everyone wanted to know their fate, didn't they? everyone wanted to know what was said about them. was it right to share?

    "do you assume they say much?" she asked, donning a smile more suited on the face of a serial killer. "every event at every time in hushed tones in this room, do you think your scheme is so pertinent that it would stand out?" keeping him on the edge, the precipice of doubt. "you're fluid, horseman. nothing is set for you. there are some certainties that drift through the barriers of time and reach me in my present. they promise days that are bounteous and tumultuous. but an oath can be broken, as my horkos knows, and things slip through the cracks. your whispers in some moments are tempestuous, and in others... insipid, vapid. to tell you what they say would inflate your ego to unbridled proportions and then pop it into dust. perhaps best for you to see to your own fate."

Cass jogged through the snow furiously looking for Chiron luckily it didn't take long to find him despite the only directions given to her was a point in the direction he had gone. Cass immediately bolted towards him earning her a look of concern from the centaur "Goodness Cassandra whatever is the matter" He asked while Cass stopped to catch her breath. "Fight... Dining pavilion...Bad" Cass responded in between breaths. Chiron's look of concern immediately deepened "Thank you for telling me" he responded with a grim tone of voice giving her back a gentle pat in thanks before immediately trotting off through the snow. Cass let out a long sigh deciding that she could probably follow him just in case one of her little goblin children decided to get involved which honestly wouldn't surprise her. Cass straightened up before doing a couple of runners stretches and preparing to use her enhanced speed to get to the dining pavilion hopefully without slipping on the snow. Cass then got into position and began to sprint her surrounding beginning to blur around her and she was able to quickly arrive at the Dining pavilion right after Chiron "Hooray for qualified adults Cass thought to herself while stretching and getting her legs to loosen up. Cass looked into the throng of people and was glad to see that none of her goblins were involved"Not my circus, not my monkeies" Cass thought so she walked over to the food table and began to serve herself completely ignoring the chaos around her. Cass grabbed a cup of coffee and before going to sit down at the Hermes table Cass walked over to the fire and gave a couple of pieces of chicken to Hermes. Cass walked over to the Hermes table and a few of the goblins noticed her and the rather tired grumpy expression and immediately gave her some space to sit Cass then began to drink her coffee with a tired neutral expression once again ignoring the chaos around her.

"That may be but we have allies too and hope is a very powerful thingJack said giving her another smile"I'm sure that if we remain optimistic things will be able to work themselves out." Although things were pretty grim at the moment it didn't help if the negativity that was happening drag you down it was important that everyone stick together so they could make it through this tough time. Jack looked at Relia and became somewhat concerned about the pink dusting her cheeks "She must be colder than I thought" Jack thought to himself. "Oh yeah that sounds fun" Jack responded enthusiastically. It had been a while since he'd been on a picnic and picnics were always fun. "Where would you like to go" he asked thinking about grabbing some cider and some honey from his cabin.

riley palmer // 12

Postby sweet.peaches~ » Fri Apr 09, 2021 10:02 am

riley palmer | 16 | she/her | zeus | location: mess hall/zeus table | tags: leo, lucy, kathryn, mr. d
She winced for a second to see the damage she had done to her nose as she pulled back her fist. Crack. She hadn't expected to turn the argument into a fight yet here she was after throwing a punch. Yikes. Her face was no longer pretty, it wasn't anyways with all her crying, and she could see it now messed up. Riley would have apologized for her temper but she fully believed that Lucy deserved it for.. she wasn't sure. For lying that her innocent brother was a traitor? Partly. In truth, she blamed the daughter of Apollo for whatever had happened to Orin. He couldn't remember his country. He ran away. What if he's changed? A little thought nudged her. She shook it off. No, no. I don't know what Lucy did, but she had to do something. She reassured herself that she was doing the right thing. It was hard to believe herself when everyone seemed to go against everything she thought. Riley watched Kathryn's tears fall out as a lump formed in her throat. She could barely swallow it. Her face was a mixture of rage and sadness. Sorry Kat. If she was going to be on Lucy's side, then she was going to get hurt. She tried her best to ignore the 'fight' chanting. It was hard to resist. "'How could I?'" She recited Kathryn's words. "Well, I'm not gonna respect liars," she calmly said. Her hands were shaking so she placed them in the pockets of her trench coat. "You've got to give me more evidence than crying." She narrowed her eyes. "Maybe it works for everyone else but certainly not me."

Riley might have continued fighting with her if Leo hadn't stepped in. Which, of course he did. Her focus was now on the son of Ares and her shoulders tensed up once he started bad mouthing her. Was he really worth it? Would he do the same for me? Now that the questions had been brought up, it was hard for them to disappear. For a moment or two, there was an uncertainty look in her face but Riley made every effort for it to shift. There was now a scowl on her face. "Orin is worth it. He's not a traitor or a coward. That's why I'm standing up for him. Besides, how would you know?" she irritably shot back. "You're just a stupid kid of Ares. War is all you ever think about." She tried not to show her anger at his backlash of her not doing anything. She was Riley Palmer. She was the daughter of Zeus. Sure, she'd never gone on a quest. Perhaps she still wasn't known for being a hero. But she promised herself she would go down in history. There were just some, alas, obstacles first. "Do you think you'll get Daddy's attention for insulting?" She raised an eyebrow. "I've never heard verbal attacks coming down in battle before." Of course, she just had to get punched in the face. Riley knew she was going to end up with a bruise on her cheek. She wondered whether or not that was the maximum to his strength. Probably not.

She was just about to kick him in the gut until she smelled a faint scent of grape. She turned to see Mr. D who looked as terrible as always. He didn't seem thrilled to deal with the fight. Most likely wanted to go back to playing pinochle or whatever he was doing in his cabin. A few heartbeats later and she glanced over to the familiar sight of Chiron. Her eyes lit up to see the centaur but he showed more concern than happiness of her arrival. The chants to continue 'fighting' had died down now that they were now in the dining pavilion. "Really messed each other up, huh?" The wine god had grumbled lazily. "You're gonna get blood all over the tables at this rate. Unless you brats want to become dolphins, stop it. Otherwise Zeus is gonna get mad at me for letting more of you guys die. More paperwork for Father," he threatened them as Chiron galloped next to him.

Her mentor sighed. "Mr. D, I'd strongly advise not making dolphins of literal children. We're here to protect and train the demigods." He took a glimpse of her and the others. "But this isn't a camp that tolerates violence. At least not like this. What exactly happened here?"

why can’t you breathe harder and try to live

━━━ 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬
[]17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|outside|tags: Orin, Felix

Auggie shook her head again, not wanting to accept what Felix was saying. She knew it was true. She knew that the son of Apollo was doing the best he could and that he wasn’t really to blame, but she had to blame someone, and she wasn’t as easily resigned to the fate he seemed to have already accepted for Orin.

Orin looked towards her, but his focus seemed off, she wasn’t sure that he could actually see her, then he was looking down at the ground again. He didn’t seem calm exactly, but his demeanour seemed more than a state of confusion, a hazy brain, it was like he’d seen this coming and had accepted it already. He had told her. He’d made it seem like this was nothing, inevitable, but she wasn’t so ready to believe he really thought that.

A small sound escaped her at his grouse about the rasputini, something halfway between a laugh and a sob. She bit down hard on the inside of her cheek, the pain it caused barely enough of a distraction to do anything. “You will. You’ll still have time to poison me with...with that. You will.” She didn’t know who she was trying to convince anymore, herself or the two of them. Auggie glanced in Felix’s direction, noticing the panic on his face. It didn’t make her feel better. She wanted it to make her feel better but it didn’t, at least he had a plan. At least somebody was saying to do something now because she was feeling more lost with every passing second.

A shudder passed through her involuntarily, the wind didn’t feel as harsh or biting as it could have, but it certainly wasn’t t-shirt weather. She didn’t even want to look at her hands, the pounding in her chest was enough indication of what she’d see there. The warmth of Cabin Seven didn’t make much of a difference, but then Felix was talking, moving around as if he had a plan, as if he hadn’t quite given up hope yet. In any other circumstance she would’ve fought the spark of something in her chest, refusing to get her hopes up in a hopeless situation, but she didn’t believe that’s what it was yet. She couldn’t. “Has it…” She stopped the question before it left her lips, she didn’t want to know if the number had been so high before. She didn’t want to know anything that would take away the tiny fragment of possibility Felix had created.

He was in a frantic state, not acting in the calm, orderly fashion she’d seen from him before. It wasn’t a good sign, but it was better than stoic resignation. She watched him flit around the room for a moment before her attention turned back to Orin, a fresh surge of panic blooming in her chest at the sight of his drooping eyelids. “Hey, hey, hey,” She crouched in front of him, trying to get him to meet her gaze. “Keep your eyes open. Stay awake, Zappy.” He’d said that was one of the worst things anybody could call him, and normally she’d wouldn’t have done it, but it came out as if some part of her thought that maybe by saying the thing he didn’t want her to, she could simply annoy him into living, keep his heart beating long enough to tell her off, to say anything and wipe away the dull, placid expression that terrified her more than annoying him with a petty nickname.

Her gaze flickered briefly to the leather jacket she’d given him, memories she’d done her best to keep away beginning to flood back to the forefront of her mind. A phone call, a numb feeling, a room full of people she didn’t know or care about and flowers that contrasted against the sea of black, the church steps, the panic and the empty silence of the graveyard. It came flooding back with a fresh wave of panic and desperation, the feeling that her throat was closing up nearly choking off her next words, coming out quieter than the previous ones, barely audible. “You’re not leaving me.” Not like everyone else did.

She hadn’t wanted to care. She’d turned and walked away—more than once—as if that could make a difference. As if she could control it. As if somehow, choosing to turn around and walk away in that moment would make the inevitable hurt less. She closed herself off to people to avoid this exact thing, and yet, somehow, they had still ended up here. She’d walked away, but he’d followed. She should have hated him for that. She wanted so badly to hate him, to feel anything other than what she was feeling, but she couldn’t. It was far too late for that.

“Stay with me, Orin Gorman or I swear to god I’ll...I’ll tell everyone you passed out like a scandalized old church woman.” There was no weight to her threat, no venom in her voice, she might as well have been pleading with him. The tears she’d been holding back, more for his benefit than her own reputation at this point—that being the farthest thing from her mind—were threatening to overtake her, blurring her vision. “You’re gonna be fine. Felix is…” She glanced over at the son of Apollo hopefully. “He’s got you. You’re gonna be fine.”

    (tulip + theo)(some store in manhattan)
tulip hurried along excitingly, theo trudging behind her audibly complaining "what are you looking for?" he asked, catching up to the girl. "gifts! we'll be heading to camp later tonight, I can't come back empty-handed." she explained, opening the door to a record store. greeting the shop owner tulip began to search in the shop as theo looked around slowly. "records? who uses records anymore." he asked, shaking his head. "y'know they say records sound better." she chimed back, used to theo's very cynical behavior. her hands flicked through the records, 'something chuck would like..the beatles!' she picked out the record, the familiar faces of george, john, paul and ringo greeted her. "found it!" she smiled, showing it off to the boy. bringing it up to the counter she tapped her fingers while the man rang it up "your total is 28.64" he spoke. tulip turned to theo, motioning for him to pay. theo grumbled, handing the card his father gave to the two. "have a nice day!" she smiled at the man, grabbing her bag and heading out of the door. "is that everything?" theo asked, wanting to go home already. "only a few more shops I promise!" she answered, grabbing his hand and walking along.
