what is a gachagator?
gachagators are an odd kind of animal, anatomically similar to no living mammal or reptile, and being a tested close cousin of the utahraptor. they are just as big on average if not larger, being 3 meters tall at the shoulders on average and anywhere from 7-11 meters in length. these gators are omnivorous, and can eat up to 30% of their body weight in one sitting. their diet can be affected by both personal preferences and what's available in their habitat. gators that are more active tend to eat more protein than their lazier brethren, however every feral gator is seen as a threat at any distance, as they've been seen to run as fast as 50 mph for short distances. their biggest natural competitors are alligators, and more aggressively feral horses should they ever cross paths.

charms located inside a gator's capsule mimic anything from natural objects to man-made items, and how these charms are developed and take such shapes is a mystery. these items can even be changed in shape provided a gator have the right item. the charms themselves don't seem to mean anything between gators, however humans found quite an appeal to them. the material on every gator's tusks, horns, claws and capsule is made of a hard, plastic-like membrane. cracking this membrane open takes a lot of force, however if it does happen to crack there is a very thick liquid that's usually similar to the membrane in color, typically darker. the entirety of the membrane plus liquid is always referred to as the tusk-material. gators do not feel when their membranes break, making it more inconvenient rather than painful.

➤ general rules

gachagators are a closed species.

while anybody can make a furred t-rex and call it a day, the species itself is within the community. you cannot take pre-existing characters and designs and call them gachagators, nor can you create your own and attempt to participate. officially recognized designs are only found here, provided by official artists or created/transferred in through the correct means. heavy referencing of the lore/lineart/concept is frowned upon, and can even result in a ban.

regarding conflict,

drama within the community is unavoidable, however it should not be made public where the species is present (e.g. related chickensmoothie threads, potential discord server, ect.). if a user is being harassed onsite or offsite, those who can be held accountable with proof will be punished. bullying and harassment of community members and staff is strictly forbidden.

trading, gifting and selling,

gachagators are archived, thus they may only be regifted/traded/resold to users on site. gachagators that are purchased may be resold for no more than what was paid (unless the gator has additional art), and gachagators obtained by a free means must be traded or gifted (unless the gator has additional art, in which it can be sold at that value). any (future) items can be traded or gifted under the same means, however cannot be resold.

to update the archive,

until a transfer thread is created, to update the archive after trading/selling/gifting a gator/item, pm the owner (@pillpups) or any (future) archivist with the means of transaction (gift/sale/trade), any other gator(s)/item(s) involved, and a consenting screenshot of transfer from the other individual.

do not edit posts on raffle/fcfs/post-to-win gachagators.

all forms posted on these kinds of adopts MUST be filled out in their entirety, aside from any "name" or "gender" sections (these are not archived). always mind the time of when these kinds of competitions end, as all late entries should and would be disqualified by default.

you cannot post/outbid autobought gachagators.

auto-buy prices are just that, they cannot be outbid under any circumstances. staff also cannot "add" auto-buy prices onto adopts after the gator has been posted; they must be put up with or without an auto-buy price.

regarding strikes + bans,

gachagators (typically) go by a three-strike system, and users to receive warnings/strikes will be notified of how many chances they have left with their warning. some broken rules and warnings may take more than one strike depending on the severity of what happened, and the user will be told if this is the case. banned users can keep their gachagators, but will be encouraged to transfer out. banned users cannot obtain more gators or items by any means.

➤ misc. guidelines

regarding transfers,

should a user decide to transfer a design out of the species, they must contact both the species owner (@pillpups) and the original artist for permission. afterwards with permission the gator can be transferred out, as long as the capsule is removed from the design. you will not be allowed to color any gachagator related gift lines/ect with said design afterwards. designs can be transferred into the species, provided the user has all the appropriate items (and consent from the designer should it be needed).

myo's and edits,

gachagators have two specific traits that cannot be removed. they must have a capsule somewhere on their body (charm included), and they can never lose their main pair of tusks no matter where on the jaw they are. myo's can be earned by community raffles, runner up prizes, and a potential shop opening. the guidelines for myo creation will be posted in the species guide once the first myo tickets are put into circulation.

regarding extra threads,

the community and what's added to the species is determined by community involvement and size. as the community around the species grows, so does the likeliness of new branches of the species opening up (e.g. discord server, nursery, shop, ect.). not seeing these things right away is meant to happen. the involvement threshold is never shared publicly, but an announcement will always be made if these circumstances are met.
