She grit her teeth as he spoke, staring back unflinchingly. They weren’t fighting now, not the way they had been earlier, but every word from the son of Ares felt like a punch in the gut—one that hurt more than the actual impact of a fist to a rib cage. She didn’t let the effect of the taunts show on her face, keeping up the fiery glare that had appeared the moment she’d laid eyes on him. It was true, that’s what stung. She had wanted a fight, regardless of whatever motives she’d had, part of her had enjoyed driving her fist into his jaw. Despite everything, she hadn’t changed much from the angry, headstrong kid who swung a punch at the first classmate who said a bad word against Stella. She could almost see the disappointed face of her uncle. But being seen was the worst part, Leo thinking that he understood her or thinking he could explain her behaviour, the idea enraged her.

“You don’t know anything,” she bit back, voice tight and strained, her anger barely contained. You were the one attacking someone without reason. I was helping him. If I hadn’t hit you then you could’ve—“ She bit her tongue, took a breath. “You can project your violent tendencies onto me all you want but the truth is, you started it. You were the one beating on someone who didn’t do anything to deserve it. If you want to pretend we’re in the same boat go ahead, but I hit you for a reason.”

Auggie had to resist the urge to roll her eyes. She was done with the son of Ares and his little speech, acting as if he knew anything about her. She narrowed her eyes at the last comment, watching him for barely a moment before deciding it wasn’t worth it and walking away. It wasn’t the first time that day she found herself walking without reason or destination, but she somehow ended up in a similar place. The Stygian iron knives didn’t even make it out of their sheaths before her anger was released this time, a bare fist driving into the trunk of a tree instead. She drew in a sharp breath through her teeth at the pain that jolted through her hand and up her arm. It didn’t help that she was still sore from everything else that had happened.

Her sword was still strapped to her side, having been in it’s true form since the venti attack. She unsheathed it, fully prepared to unleash her rage against yet another innocent tree before she thought better of the urge, driving the blade into the ground with a huff of frustration instead. She slumped down to the forest floor, mostly dry under the cover of the trees and sat with her back against the trunk of one, absently eyeing the blood that dripped from her split knuckles.

[]17|he/him|Ares (unclaimed)|outside Cabin 11|tags: open

The last few days had been eventful to say the least. From the fight he had somehow gotten involved in on his way home, the revelation that the man who had attacked him wasn’t in fact a man at all, to his aunt’s slapdash, lackadaisical explanation that his father wasn’t just some jobless bum who had run off before his mother did, but some sort of Greek god. He should have felt relieved. He should have been glad to know he wasn’t crazy, and that there was a reason for all the strange happenings that had plagued his life since birth. He wasn’t. The confusion and apprehension had only increased when this place that was supposedly the safest place for him and others like him—there were a lot of them, especially in the cabin he’d been shoved into—had been the cause of eighteen deaths.

Vittorio wasn’t entirely convinced that any of this was real. It didn’t feel real, the snow in June didn’t help, but somehow he hadn’t woken up yet. Avoiding confrontation of the thought seemed to be the best move, not thinking about the connotations of a godly parent or the looming threats on the horizon. He wasn’t apathetic to the lives that had been lost the day previous. He hadn’t known any of them, but he tended to take everything hard, and the shock of it all had hit him immediately. Avoidance of this thought was how he ended up on the steps of the Hermes cabin, a book in his hands that wasn’t really being read, flipping through pages with a blank stare that couldn’t actually process the words.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

||Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Outside Cabins Area|Tags: Open|Mentioned: Aiden, Hank|

Mirabelle shifted on her feet, moving ever so slightly in hopes of restoring some semblance of warmth to her frigid body. Right. Hank's Heatstone. She slipped the stone from her pocket, holding it in her hands. She kept it wrapped in the tissue Hank had given it to her in to keep it from blinding anyone in the immediate vicinity. Thank you, Hank. Though small, she could feel the heat of the enchanted stone seeping through her gloves. At least this makes the cold a bit more bearable.
As she patiently waited for Hank and Aiden to finish up, her thoughts turned back to her moment of bliss with Delilah. Her heart fluttered in her chest, accompanied by a rush of heat to her face. I can't believe I did that. I kissed her. I kissed her. And out in the open, too! Someone could've seen us... ugh, I'm so stupid! At least Delilah hadn't rejected her, she reckoned. Besides, that was... amazing. Worth the risk. Wasn't it? She didn't think badly enough of her friends to think that they would judge her for that. Would they? She worried the soft flesh of her cheek between her teeth. What if they care? What if they don't like me anymore? What if they turn their backs on me?
Despite her spiraling thoughts, her face remained a mask of contentment. Right. Calm down, take a breath, and think about something else.

||Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Cabin 3|Tags: Hu, Caspia|

Juliet's head swiveled towards Caspia when she spoke up. I totally didn't forget that she was there. What? Pfff. That's rediculous. The daughter of Poseidon's words hit like a sucker-punch to the gut. She had almost forgotten how new Caspia was to all of this. She got here this morning, she recalled. Crap. That means I have to tell her about all the stuff that went down. Unease squirmed in Juliet's gut. She was never great at breaking bad news, and this was the worst information she'd ever had to give.
"Uh... yeah," she started, "about that..." Woman up, Jules. Come on. You got this. "So you can probably guess that it's not normal for it to snow in summer. This crap started up yesterday, and it just keeps on coming." She shot the new girl a wry look. "From what I heard, some crazy snow goddess is out to get us. No clue why." The daughter of Hermes shrugged offhandedly. "But yeah, she killed uh... seventeen people last night? Snow collapsed the Big House roof. That was the pile of rubble you probably saw on the way in." The way she spoke was so casual, as if it was no big deal. In reality, the words left a sour taste in her mouth. "Oh no wait! Eighteen. Some dude got lost in the woods, I think."
Juliet nearly sighed in relief at the next question out of Caspia's mouth: "uhm, who's lilah?"
"Oh, she's the Hypnos cabin's head counselor," the wiry girl explained. "She's actually pretty cool though. A little touchy-feely and stuff, but super nice. The kind of person to hug you to death." She tossed a hand through her dirty blonde hair, making her messy ponytail swish as she spoke. "Oh, and she has these really cool wings. That's not something you see every day. But the reason I mentioned her is because she can make someone fall asleep like that." She held up her fingers and snapped for emphasis. "It's super useful for pranks."

||Kathryn Blackwood|17|She/Her|Hecate|Location: Cabin 20 --> Outside Cabin 11|Tags: Hecate NPCs --> Vittorio|

"Alright people, listen up. Skylar left me in charge while she's gone to save us all on the grand quest we've all been hearing so much about." Skylar had not left Kathryn in charge. In fact, Kathryn was probably one of the single worst people to be left in charge of anything. But that didn't stop her from seizing power like the little tyrant she was. "While she's off heroically risking her life for us, think of me as your new Head Counselor. Won't that be fun?" Sugar dripped from her words as she spun her lies like a spider spinning string.
"Uh... actually... she left me in charge, Kat."
Johnathan. Kathryn had enough dirt on him to bury him in a landslide if she only said the word. But that would be giving away the power she had over him, and it was much more fun to hold an avalanche over someone's head than release it. She clicked her tongue, shaking her head sadly as a brilliant plan formed in her mind.
"Oh dear," she purred, it seems we're in quite the pickle now, aren't we? See, Skylar told me I was to take over her responsibilities while she's away. She told you the same thing, is that right?"
Johnathan nodded hesitantly.
"Why don't we compromise, then? I couldn't help but notice your amazing organisational skills, John. Skills I could only dream of possessing." She sighed wistfully, selling her flattery as the pride sparked in Johnathan's crystal blue eyes. "And your eye for detail! Why, it's simply impeccable."
Powerful as he was, Johnathan wasn't the most humble. He let the compliments go straight to his head, and it showed beautifully. Kathryn had to resist the urge to smile.
"How about this - I'll take over those dreadfully boring counsel meetings for you and even lead our cabin to meals, while you take charge of cabin inspections and activity planning. With my skills as a conversationalist and yours as an organiser, we would make a formidable team. Does that sound fair to you? I think it plays wonderfully to both of our strengths."
Johnathan seemed to think it over for a minute before meeting Kathryn's glittering brown eyes. "That sounds... good," he eventually agreed. "Thanks, Kat. This'll be a lot easier with you helping out."
Kathryn felt elation rise in her chest, though it didn't reach her face. Instead, she plastered a very genuine-looking smile across her features. "Anytime, darling." Perfect. She'd always wanted to play Head Counselor, and this was her flawless opportunity. Not for the responsibilities. Heavens, no. Nor the boring organisational aspects and tedious cabin inspections. The leadership role was what tasted sweet on her tongue; the rush of power like a decadent chocolate cake. Johnathan could do all the dull and boring tasks that the job had to offer, while she reveled in her newly snatched power. It was the perfect little gap for Kathryn to wedge herself into and take root. Speaking of Skylar... The quest should be leaving soon, if they haven't already. Tsk tsk, so many Counselors gone... Always a rumour mill, she had of course heard all about who was going and who wasn't. I'll finally be rid of Mirabelle and her insufferable rules. "No harmful gossip in the Aphrodite cabin", "don't be mean to each other", "I'm so obnoxious and self-righteous, blah blah blah". She almost chuckled aloud at her mental imitation of the Aphrodite Head Counselor's nagging voice. Still... rumour had it that Ophelia was taking Mirabelle's place as Head Counselor. Ophelia... The thought left a sour taste in her mouth. At least she's less boring. Not a total goody-two-shoes. Still, she would've rather had Megan or one of the other residents of Camp Half-Blood's own Barbie dream house running things. Someone in her pocket, so to speak. A doll she could pull the strings of. The Aphrodite cabin had been her favourite before Mirabelle had taken over. So much drama... so much fun. Now, they were all bland and vapid; no longer allowed to give in to their darker impulses. Such a waste.
"To be honest, I thought we were going to have to duel for it for a second there."
Johnathan's amused voice broke her out of her thoughts. She laughed; a rich, deep sound. "Don't be ridiculous, Johnny. As If I would resort to such brutality when we can simply sit down and talk it out like civilised people. If we dueled, you'd be dead by the minute mark.
"Yeah," the boy chuckled, running a hand through his dark hair. "Thanks again."
"I'm certain you'd do wonderfully, even without my aid." That was a lie, but Johnathan seemed to take it as the compliment it was. "Anyways, I'm off. Bartók is calling. I'll see you around, John. Good to be working with you."
With that, Kathryn flashed her cabinmate a saccharine smile and turned towards the door. She slipped a flared black coat over her shoulders before sauntering out to face the cold.
She got halfway to the Apollo cabin when she suddenly recalled that it had been converted into a makeshift infirmary after the Big House collapse. Not my cup of tea. She would just have to change plans, then. Why in Olympus do we have an arts and crafts building but not a music building? It would be so much more convenient than hijacking the Apollo cabin's pianos or summoning one into the Hecate cabin every time she wanted to practise. No matter. I'll have to find something else to keep me occupied... or someone. Her eyes alighted upon one of the new campers - Victor, or something? He hadn't been around long enough for her to learn his name. She'd heard about his arrival through her usual gossip sources just the other day, though she hadn't interacted with him herself yet. It's time to change that. Let's see what I can dig up.
There were a few other people milling about in the cabins area, but she payed them no mind aside from a few offhanded waves. When she reached the boy sitting on the steps of cabin eleven, she donned her most welcoming smile.
"Hi there! You're new here, right?" It was always best to phrase things as questions, Kathryn knew. It came off as friendlier and less presumptuous. "I'm Kathryn Blackwood, from the Hecate cabin. I couldn't help but notice you're a bit of a reader. Do you mind if I ask what book you seem so absorbed in?" 'Absorbed' was a strong word; the boy looked almost shell-shocked. Kathryn wondered if he was actually reading the words on the page at all.

||Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Outside Bathrooms|Tags: Open|

Chuck waved back at Caleb as he trotted off towards the bathroom building, intent on washing the spilled soda off of himself. Speaking of soda... he finished up the last of the Sprite, chomping down the tin can in a few quick bites. Oh wait, I like, only have soda-clothes to change back into. Should totally stop by Pan's cabin and like, see if I can scrounge up some clean clothes. The satyr turned on the ball of his hoof, nearly stumbling over in the accumulating snow.
Once he had collected some clean clothing from the cabin he was staying in, Chuck resumed his dutiful march to the restrooms. The door was creaked open tentatively, just in case some Hermes kid had taped an airhorn behind it again. Chuck sighed aloud in relief at the lack of a piercing blast.
The warmth of the shower was more than welcome in light of the frigid weather. When he had successfully scrubbed the soda out of his curly hair, he changed into his clean clothes - a pair of bellbottomed jeans and an offensively bright rainbow tie-dyed t-shirt. Okay, like, what now? The lunch horn was due to be blown any minute now, by his estimations. And his stomach was never wrong. Like, might as well truck it to the pavilion, and like, get a good seat at Mr. D's table. Preferably a seat as far away from the wine god as possible. The dude had seemed to be in a bad mood at breakfast, Chuck recalled. He would rather not incur the wrath of Mr. D by chewing too loudly.

||Zahra Al-Amin|217/Looks 32|She/They|Magician; Eye of Sekhmet|Location: Behind Cabins|Tags: Jay, Sa'd/Set|

Zahra nodded thoughtfully in accordance with Set's words. They shifted on her feet, uncertainty flashing in their golden eyes. "I am not sure there is work for us to do," she admitted. "The Nomes - the Magicians ourselves and our gods - we have our own problems to attend to. It would not do to become entangled in Greek demigod problems as they are not our own." They paused, pursing her lips as they mused. "Unless their problems are our problems..." Could it be that this was all connected? First, the Nomes, then the Duat itself, and now the demigod camp was under siege by a presumed deity who could make it snow in June? Not to mention her own prime minister making allegations and attacks on the Roman camp... The coordinated timing was certainly suspicious. "If this is connected as I fear, we may be able to get support from the demigods in our own battle. You know this camp much better than I. Where do we begin in asking our questions?"

Cassandra Peters|19|Hermes|Head Counselor|Demi-bisexual|Loc: Outside stables/cabins--->Woods|Tags/Mentions:Edgar,Auggie,open
Cass wandered slowly away from the stables towards the cabins she felt rather drained after her goodbye with Aiden. Although she knew how capable he was even though he was only fifteen and had the height of a twelve-year-old which she loved to tease him about. Cass couldn't help but be filled with worry about the possible loss of her friend. She sighed and shook her head as if trying to remove the negative thoughts that were continuing to plague her mind. Cass felt a familiar nudge on her head as Edgar nuzzled his black feathered head against her matching hair. She stopped and gently petted his feathers as she looked in the direction of the Hermes cabin she gently poked at the snow with her combat boot. She knew that she would need to go into the cabin to work on the funeral shroud for Gianna but she just felt like she would end up crying in the middle of it which is something that her cabinmates didn't need from her. Cass sighed before she noticed a figure with purple hair heading into the woods from what Cass could tell she looked rather annoyed. Cass stood for a second watching the head of the Hades cabin move father into the woods debating if she should go and see what was wrong at the risk of dealing with an angry Augusta or stay here and deal with her grief and other emotional issues that were plaguing her. After that last option came to mind Cass immediately began jogging into the woods to find Auggie while Edgar bobbed up and down on her shoulder. It took Cass a little while to find Auggie but Cass found her sitting against a tree and staring off into space still looking kind of angry but to Cass she always kind of looked angry. "Do you mind if I hang out here with Edgar" Cass asked pointing at Edgar rather awkwardly kind of regretting following Auggie but whatever Auggie insult or sarcastic comment Auggie had ready for her Cass honestly didn't care and she had probably said something similar to herself at some point so Cass waited for the fellow Head counselor's response gently rocking on her heels

A smile tugged at Aiden's lips, and he lowered his head to avoid any further hair ruffling. "Yeah yeah yeah, quit it would you?" He shook his head, bringing his messy hair back to the state that he preferred. Hank wasn't taking this well, that wasn't lost on the child of Athena. This is hurting him. Hank was treading on eggshells, it seemed like. Trying his best to make sure his last moments for a while weren't awkward or sour. Poor guy. Once Aiden had his confirmation that Hank would look after his Athena replacement, he allowed himself a single, forced "ha," deliberately pronounced. "Don't you dare!" He snapped back, balling his fists. "If I have to even lift a finger to clean this place up in the next few weeks, I'll tie you down and make you listen to the rap I wrote!" It should go without saying Aiden had no idea how to rap, nor did he have the desire to learn.

From the corner of his eye, he spotted a familiar shape. Leo. He did a double take when he spotted August as well, and the hairs on his neck bristled from more than the cold. "Oh no, don't do this now." he murmured under his breath. He punched Hank in the gut and started off, leaving with a "See you later, alligator!" to end off on a more pleasant note. Aiden couldn't hear all of what said, but his blood boiled at the mention of "pint-sized counselor" regardless of the context. As much as he wanted to deck August himself for it, there were more pressing matters. "Hey─" He'd barely begun to speak when the group split, Leo thrusting an envelope into his hands before taking his leave. "I don't─" Aiden didn't even get to argue. Upon seeing the handwriting on the face of the paper, he made a face of his own. "I really don't want this." He was tempted to toss it, but he didn't want anyone else to read whatever might be inside. Instead, he tucked it into his coat with the dozens of other items and tugged on Wayfinder's reins, heading towards where the Big House formerly stood.

As he waited both for Kade's response and for the magical metal to warm to its melting point, the sound of knocking called his attention. Who knocks to open air? They could clearly see Will and Kade, but neither of them was particularly busy. Not enough that it warranted interruption etiquette, at least. He turned to face the newcomer, brushing a few loose strands of hair from his eyes. The white backdrop of snow caused him to squint, but slowly their features came into view. Tall, lanky, blonde hair, neatly dressed... The puzzle pieces were there. "There's a name t' go with that face, I swear it." Wilhelm abandoned his post and trudged over, standing a head taller over him. "Is it David? From th' Hermes cabin?" Something told him wrong, so he scratched the back of his head and thought further. "Er, Reese? Hades cabin? Damn, I ain't any good with faces..." He hoped David or Reese, or whoever this was, would clear up some of the confusion for him. "Y'have a delivery fer me?" He asked, changing the subject.

Reese, for his part, was not impressed by the burly kid's mental acumen. He, for one, would recognize that Texas drawl anywhere. Even if it was currently confusing him for some "Dave". Seriously? He tapped his foot as he considered how best to handle the situation. Will, for the life of him, was just making things worse as he prattled on. "Er, Reese? Hades cabin? He sounded incredibly confused. Time to put him out of his misery

Reese took a deep breath, then exhaled. "Reese. My name, as you well know Wilhelm, is Reese." Reese had to look up sharply at the taller boy and it was...certainly a lesson in forced perspective. He blinked, trying to reconcile the image of a shorter, buff but not that much Will with the man that stood before him. He squinted, practically able to hear his Ma hissing 'it is rude to stare!' at him, but he could not help it. Besides, Will had been less than mannered first!

A thought struck him, and he scrunched up his face. "Is that-is that really how you differentiate between people, by cabins of all things?" He was trying his very best not to sound indignant. He sounded indignant, as though this information was a personal affront to him. In a way, it was, what with the blonde spending enough time among the Apollo campers to practically be one. But it was deeper than that, like if you boiled down any old camper to the sum of their parts, you would have a chip off the old block, nothing of note.

He snapped his gaze away to shuffle through the letters again. Plucking the one titled to Will off the top, he held it out to him. "Mirabelle left this to you. She joined the quest." There is nothing more too it, were the unaired words. He took a moment to continue his examination of Will. A few new scars, but the boots are the same. He mused, not mentally up to speed at the moment.

Aydan caught a glimpse of Ophelia tugging at her sleeve's, her hands were probably freezing at this point.. should he offer to help warm them? Would that be too forward? His cheeks flushed at the thought, she had let go of Celeste's hand so maybe it wasn't the best idea. He's always been confident and bold ,why couldn't he be that way now? He scoffed softly at himself for being such a wuss and not just going for it but they way he usually would be would probably gain a not so good reaction from Ophelia. He wished he had more experience with people, with girls, everything would be so much easier. He'd be able to understand why he was acting the way he was with her.

The forge, right. It was warm, warmer than he liked. He scooted away from the building closer to the lump of snow. He looked to Ophelia and Celeste who huddled closer to the warm building. Gods, he had to be the odd one out. It was hard to catch everything Ophelia was saying with the cold wind howling against his ears. As they walked further from the forge he made his way closer to the two. He caught the end of her explanation of the buildings "I'm always ready Phel." though he wasn't sure if she heard since she was already on the move.

Aurelia pulled on a pair of jeans, a gray cropped tank top, a red and black flannel, and pulled on a fluffy lined black coat. She zipped up preparing for the cold that was to come as she walked out the door. She checked her reflection once in the mirror for any odd strand of hair poking out of her perfectly made messy bun before gliding out the door. She heard earlier people mentioning the questers being at the stables, she wanted to say a quick see you later to Mira before she left.

She made her way through the glistening snow to the stables. She was humming to some song that was stuck in her head that she, for the life of her, couldn't remember the title of until she spotted Jack standing idly next to Hank and Aiden who seemed to be in some conversation, probably saying their bye's. Relia's heart felt like it was going to explode, get a hold of yourself Aurelia!. She gathered her composure and made her way as gracefully as she could in the snow over to the trio of boys. She didn't want to interrupt Hank and Aiden's conversation so she tapped on Jack's shoulder lightly. "Hey there" she said blushing fiercely, she hoped he'd think it was just from the cold winds.

Annoying? The word she'd use is persistent... smartie pants... these were the words she'd use to describe him. Annoying seemed a tad harsh but she didn't know how he was with Orin. They were an odd match if you'd witness the two. She laughed at his retort to her talking about all boys stinking. "Aye aye captain" she said giving him a goodbye salute.

She watched him as he made his way to the shower making sure he wouldn't fall or anything. Once he was out of sight she stood up and straightened herself out. Now's a good time as any to take that walk. She wondered how Clyde was holding up until she was slapped in the face with cold air and shivered. Why did she wanna take this god forsaken walk again? Oh yeah, the questers and Mira. She trudged through the snow regretting slightly coming out of the warmth of her cabin. She didn't know where the questers were but hopefully she'd find them soon, or someone who knew where they were at least.

Vittorio was pulled from his daydreams and absent page flipping by a voice that seemed a little too chipper given the circumstances—those circumstances being his entire world being turned upside down essentially overnight—but as he looked up at the smiling face who had greeted him, he realized they weren’t to blame for that, and probably didn’t even know. Everyone here seemed to think these things were normal, that gods and monsters were just a part of life. He wasn’t buying into that yet, but he wasn’t going to be rude.

“Hi.” He flashed the girl a friendly smile, not letting any of the previous thoughts show on his face. “Yeah, I arrived yesterday. Vittorio Viotto-Perez,” he said in response to her introduction, pulling a face at the realization that his name was a bit of a mouthful, especially considering most of the kids here were American born and raised and probably couldn’t manage the necessary accent. “Uh...but you can just call me Tori. It’s easier,” he added with a little smile.

He raised his eyebrows at the question about his book, closing it over to show her the cover. He wasn’t worried about losing his page, he hadn’t really been reading it anyways. “Dante’s Inferno. I’ve read it before but...it’s a classic, you know? Are you into books?” It seemed like a lame question once it came out of his mouth, but if she was interested enough to ask what he was reading he figured it was worth it. From what knowledge he had on Greek gods, he didn’t remember Hecate having anything to do with poems or literature, but that didn’t mean her...was he really supposed to believe this girl was her child? Either way, he wasn’t going to assume anything based on a cabin patron.

Her moment of peace didn’t last very long, not that it was ever really that peaceful sitting with her own tumultuous thoughts. She looked up at the sound of footsteps, slightly surprised to see that the person approaching was Cass. She raised an eyebrow, not sure why the Hermes head counsellor would follow her but lacking the energy for her typical snarky comments, and not really having a reason to challenge her anyways. She didn’t know the other girl very well, which was usually a good thing. If she didn’t already hate her, it meant she minded her own business—or she usually did. Auggie wasn’t sure what she was doing now.

She hesitated when the question came. She hadn’t exactly been aching for company, but she had no reason to say no. “Um...I guess so?” It wasn’t supposed to come out as a question, but she couldn’t hide her confusion at being approached by someone who so far seemed lacking in malicious intent. Auggie was quiet for a moment, eyeing the girl and the raven perched on her shoulder curiously. There were quite a few people at camp with pets, she’d never really understood the point of it, and she really didn’t understand the reason for walking around with one sitting on your shoulder. “What’s with the bird?” she asked finally, curiosity overriding her intentions of not initiating a conversation.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

    the ruins were a shock, that much was certain. mixed with the snow, with the man on the radio, it was beginning to feel as though there was something bigger going on. she watched people approach the ruins, deep in conversation, and let out a little sigh, the air misting in front of her in the cold. there was nothing more to look at - staring at the problem wouldn't make it go away - so she picked up her suitcases and trundled over to the cabin area.

    a quick dip into the hephaestus cabin to put her things down at her bunk. there were new photos in one of her bags to pin up on the cork board behind the head of her bed, and after taking a moment to admire the ones already displayed, she shifted her things into a corner and left, unsure of what she was searching for, but searching nonetheless.

    through the snow, jude spotted chuck, heart soaring in her chest. a familiar face in all of the wreckage. "chuck!" she called, rushing across the snow to close the gap between them, arms outstretched for a hug. "i missed you. every time i had to trash a bit of scrap metal i thought 'what a waste. chuck'd love this'." a pause, taking a moment to look him over, beaming from ear to ear. after a moment, when the immediate joy faded, her smile did too. "i've missed stuff, haven't i? the big house -" there was no further need to explain. he certainly knew what had happened. "is everyone safe?"

dahlia laughed as he quickly followed behind "you snooze you lose!" she taunted, pulling the reins as the pegasi speeded up. she lost her grip as the animal stopped quickly practically launching dahlia off of her. dahlia let out a loud scream as she landed into the snow. a groan came out of her as he chest ached from hitting the ground "stupid animal." she sighed, sitting up and rubbing her head. "that means you won." she called to jamie, lifting herself out of the cold snow and brushing it off of her clothes.

"don't worry, I'll be fine." delilah reassured, hoping she'd be alright. "I'm all big and strong! I've got this." she chuckled, giving him a goofy grin. she'd been used to traveling in others dreams' something she learned quickly from an old cabin-mate..lola.. she shook off the thought focusing back in on their conversation. "thank you." she nodded, moving in to give him one last hug. "you're the best brother." she spoke sweetly, meaning every world as she released him. "oscar will keep your bunk warm while you're gone." she joked lightly
