Ocean Clan
Tansypetal stretched and yawned as she walked out of her seaside den. She sneezed all the way down the stone ramp and realized very quickly she was sick. She rushed back into her den and snatched her thyme and used them to cure her sickness. It'd take a few days to kick in but she's sure that'll make her feel much better. Then, her stomach grumbled and she rolled her eyes playfully and at herself. She smiled and trudged back into the den and grabbed two scraps to munch on out in the sunlight which was one of the only warm spots during autumn. She climbed onto some large rocks and ate. After that, she decided to bathe in the sunlight for an hour or two. Later, she got up and stretched. She walked into the forest, once again praying to starclan to come across a rogue although the chances were slim, she had to proceed to honor her brother's very last words. For him, for him, for him, she'd repeat in her head every day. For him.

Though Lightstar was still irritated by the conversation she had had with Rapidstrike, she quickly managed to calm down and focus on hunting. Opening her mouth to scent and breathing in the cold air she could not help but worry again about Shortspark. The cold temperatures would definitely not do the Elder any good.
She was ripped from her thoughts by a shrew darting from the roots of a tree close to her. After a few silent steps and a well-timed pounce, the animal hung limply from her mouth.
Lashing her tail in triumph she made back to the place where she and her deputy had split up, only to find Rapidstrike already waiting for her, a burnet leaf between his feet. Hopefully StarClan would send her a Gentlepaw soon. She did her best with all the herbs and so far, they had managed to get by with her and the other’s combined limited knowledge, but especially with Shortspark she was increasingly in over her head.
Rapidstrike had not caught anything, and she was about to ask him about it when he saw her and hurried over, ears folded back in worry.
“I smelled a fox, over there,” he hissed intently, his shoulders tense, and pointed towards the bridge that led over to the mainland.
“Should we go and try and fight it before it crosses over into our territory?”

Sagefluff raced to the other cats. Smokestorm inquired why she was running and Sagefluff barely mumbled about the badger. Kestrelspeck quickly ordered Smokestorm to go back to camp with her to get more Warriors and feed themselves for the struggle ahead. The cats ran to camp, grabbed a squirrel each, gulped it down, then warned the Founder of the coming danger. She nodded, called for Acornfleck and Olivebranch to accompany them, and together the group ran all the way back. Sagefluff was distraught with fear, as she wasn't trained, nor built, for battle.

"Sagefluff, you can just stay in the ferns for now," lightly purred Olivebranch as she rubbed against the terrified she-cat. Sagefluff nodded and crept to the bright ferns. Acornfleck side-stepped to let the poor thing into the hiding spot.

"Have you seen the badger? How big is it?" Acornfleck needed the ground anxiously, wondering how bad the battle would be.

"We only know that it's here...Somewhere," replied Kestrelspeck. She, too, was nervous but kept her calm exterior for the benefit of the other cats. Smokestorm was suspiciously close to her, the warmth radiating from him onto her thinner pelt. Acornfleck took a deep breath, signaled for the other cats to follow behind him, and stalked towards the rancid scent of badger. The tom flicked his tail once more as they neared the beast. Olivebranch crept to the right; Kestrelspeck went to the left. Smokestorm padded silently behind her and went to the far back. The muscular beast was many tail lengths ahead of them, but all the LagoonClan cats could feel the scent slowly being layered onto their pelts. Acornfleck steadied himself and prepared for battle. What should the clan cats expect? A bloodied battle? An easy kill? Let's wait and see. c:<

Though the rancid smell of the badger hung thick in the air, by the time the four cats arrived, the predator had gone. Briefly, they debated amongst themselves whether they should follow the beast, but ultimately decided against it, glad instead that the badger had left without a fight. With winter approaching, they could not afford any injuries, nor had they expendable herbs to waste on an unnecessary battle. The tension in all of their bodies was running high, though, so they decided to hunt instead, carefully paying attention to keep out of the direction the predator had left in.
The unwelcome presence of the huge animal must have had disturbed the smaller critters, too, for only Kestrelspeck was able to catch a small mouse.

A bit dissatisfied they returned to the ferns where Olivebranch was still hiding, collected the Gatherer, and made their way back to the camp.

Ashpelt smiles and says “lets head back” Ravenwing nods and says “yes” the two female pads their way back to camp.

As they push through the underbrush and spots a dark grey tom, Emberfrost she remembers. She smiles and says “hello Emberfrost!” She flicks her tail and says “how are you?” Emberfrost looks over to the lighter grey she-cat and says “hello Ashpelt” he flicks his tail and says “I’m good, you?” Ashpelt smiles and says “I’m good”

Ravenwing pads towards the leader, hollystar, she dips her head and says “hello hollystar” hollystar smiles and says “hello Ravenwing” she flicks her tail listening to what Ravenwing was saying.

Nightdawn smiles and says “very good adderpaw!” Adderpaw looks up and says “thank you Nightdawn, i must now be going to my mentor” Nightdawn smiles and says “good luck!”

Adderpaw pads to his mentor and says “Emberfrost I’m ready for training” Emberfrost looks over and smiles “ok,” he looks at Ashpelt and says “care to come?” Ashpelt smiles and says “sure thing!” She twitches her tail. She, Emberfrost, and adderpaw make their way out of the camp. Adderpaw scents the air and says “i smell a thrush, and a rabbit” he crouches low and Ashpelt and Emberfrost crouches too. Adderpaw leaps at the thrush.

Kestrelspeck, still concerned about the predator, decided to group up the cats once more and go out on patrol. Acornfleck stretched as Olivebranch complained about the crisp morning air. Smokestorm was already up and had scouted the perimeter of the camp. He lightly licked Kestrelspeck's forehead as the other Warriors fully woke up. The group padded out after deciding to keep Sagefluff away from the potential danger. Acornfleck, taking his usual spot as leader of the group instructed Kestrelspeck and Smokestorm to go out looking for prey, as they seemed very attached to each other. Olivebranch and he went on to patrol the borders as usual. The she-cat kept a lookout for useful herbs as the tom watched for predators and sniffed for badgers. What will the LagoonClan cats encounter on their journey?

Unfortunately, Ashpelt didn’t find any mice in the burrow. Adderpaw managed to sniff out some scraps nearby, though! Emberfrost was proud of him, and together they returned to camp.
A while after their arrival, Adderpaw felt a bit cold and weak and had Nightdawn check him out. It appears he has gotten sick while exploring! The medicine cat is sure that some dock should restore the young apprentice to full health, though.

Twitching at every little noise, the patrol made its way through the territory, Acornfleck darting away every now and then to investigate and scent for more potential predators. Luckily, the air was clear and the stink of the badger they had almost fought against earlier had dissipated, though the warrior couldn’t help but imagine some strands of the smell still clinging to his fur. He would need to wash himself thoroughly later.
While he did his best staying vigilant, Olivebranch sniffed around for herbs that could prove useful in the cold days to come. After some searching, she managed to find a hawkweed plant and carefully ripped off two of the flowers with her teeth. Not being a medicine cat, she didn’t know exactly what their use was, but since she’d seen Seastar use them once, she figured they might be worth taking.

Kestrelspeck and Smokestorm met up with them only a few moments later, having only found some scraps. Flicking his ears, Acornfleck suspected that they had been too preoccupied with each other to pay much attention to actual hunting. Next time, he would probably not send them out together.

Though they had hoped to bring more food back to camp, the cats decided to return to camp for now, carrying with them what they had found.
After they had arrived and settled down again, Acornfleck noticed a strange scratch in his throat. And had he frozen like this before?
