( *:・゚✦ ) xx❝xx 𝐥𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐳 !! x─────ix ♘x──────i ii ares. iii eighteen. iiii tags: orin, auggie. ivi outside. all rational thought seemed to retreat into the back of his mind as instinct took over. the problem was that orin wasn't battling him back, just curling in on himself, wrapping his arms around his head. that was fine. there were ribs to focus on, stomach blows that made leo's fists warm. every so often, he'd try to break the blockade formed, but only managed a couple of grazes. it was effective, he would give him that. but it wasn't conducive to getting the real energy out, and it was infuriating.
as blows fell, time slowed. launched into memories, wisps of the things becoming the scene set out in the present.
'his name's little mercy. i want you to put him in the ring,'
and then, something rather unanticipated. a third body had entered the match, sending him rocking. his legs had essentially been wrapped around the son of zeus' hips, but the anchor didn't prove to be much use when it came to the shoulder blow that sent him almost sprawling. leo looked for the source of the tackle as he stumbled to his feet, wild eyes settling on augusta. he didn't know her. he didn't need to know her. in fact, not knowing her was making it all the more fun. "is this your girl, gorman?" he barked, amused.
'you're joking. boy looks like he's only just been put onto solid food. how old is he?'
the hit that came was square and solid. a bit of him was rather impressed. another was unendingly amused, the fire in his chest doubling and brightening. his hand came to where he had been hit, cupping the buzzing skin with an exaggerated frown. "that was good, but you should've gone here. go on, hit me here -" a point to just underneath his ribs. "right there. i'll show you, if you want."
'he's fifteen. prodigy in the making. he'll drop any man you throw at him. give him a slot. you won't regret it,'
leo launched forward, swinging his right arm for momentum to drive into the point he had pointed at on his own body, but on auggie's instead. it wasn't entirely focused - he wasn't utilising every power in his mini mercenary, looking for less of an instant knockout and more of a showy fight. he wanted a surrender rather than a loss, the rush of adrenaline that only came after a solid attempt of a beating.

dahlia smiled, feeling at ease as he admitted to being just as awkward. she thought about his question for a minute, "y'know what, I actually am." she admitted. "I know anything could be out there waiting for us, but it feels freeing to finally leave this place even for a moment." she placed her hands into the pockets of her jacket, fears of what awaited them felt small. "I've been here for years, never having the chance to leave often, It's going to be a huge adventure." she agreed, nodding her head.delilah nodded, picking up her pace so she didn't drag behind. her heart beat quickly in her chest, as she thought about her next actions. mirabelle had always held a huge space in her thoughts and her heart, after meeting the child of aphrodite she was practically hooked. remembering how eager she was to be friends with the girl, she dragged her sister with her and the three of them grew extremely close. delilah couldn't remember when she realized she wanted more than friends, when she began to admire the girl much more than normal. she had to confess before she left, knowing if something happened to mira she'd be torn up completely inside. "I think I see them over there." she pointed towards the kids around the stables, her hands began to feel a bit shaky as she hoped not to run into her sister.

[✩] Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|outside|tags:Leo, OrinAuggie didn’t think before she moved, the only thought in her brain being the fact that she had to get Leo off of Orin. She succeeded, staggering to her feet after the impulsive, clumsy movement of the tackle. She met the boys gaze defiantly, her glare cold and indomitable, and for once the anger wasn’t a front. For the first time in a long time, none of the fire and fury in her eyes was forced. The son of Ares looked crazed, amused, as if he was enjoying this. She was prepared to wipe the smug look off his face. Her glare darkened at his comment, nearly letting out a growl of contempt before deciding on a better way to shut him up than a venomous retort.
He didn’t seem to be phased by her hit, only more amused, his tone patronizing. She narrowed her eyes as Leo instructed her on where to hit him, having decided within a matter of seconds that of all the people she hated at camp—he was her least favourite. August glanced back towards Orin quickly, remembering the reason she’d run over in the first place. Losing her focus was a bad idea, the unexpected blow catching her in her brief moment of distraction, knocking the air out of her.
She winced, turning her full attention back to Leo, trusting that one of the others from the stables would see what was going on and get to Orin. Leo was off of him now, that’s what was important. He’d be okay. He had to be. Through her haze of anger, her instincts from every fight she’d caused or been a victim to started to take over. She had said she’d wanted to get in a fight. She would’ve preferred if it didn’t involve someone nearly dying first, but she’d have to take what she was dealt.
“Really sweet of you to give me a pointer,” she snarled, lunging forward and driving a knee into his stomach. “But I don’t take advice from idiotic children of Ares who have nothing better to do than show off.” The words came out quickly, ending as she aimed another heavy-handed blow at his jaw.
Her focus was entirely on what she was doing now, ears buzzing with adrenaline as everything else around them faded away. Every emotion that she’d been suppressing coming out in the force of her punches, all the pent up rage and frustration channeling into the fight. She was in her element now. A fight was something she could handle, physical pain made a lot more sense to her than anything else did. It was understandable, expected, and she finally had some semblance of control.[✿]Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|Stables|tags:quest group, DahliaJamie relaxed a little when she smiled, glad that his own awkwardness wasn’t offputting. He raised his eyebrows at her response, unable or unwilling to mask his surprise. It made sense—for her at least. He didn’t exactly yearn to leave the safety of camp, and only staying for summer’s, he didn’t feel like he needed to get out and see the world any more than he had. The idea that ‘anything could be out there waiting’ made him shudder, but he nodded in response regardless, able to see where she was coming from, even if he couldn’t relate.
“Yeah, I get it...an adventure for sure,” he added with a small smile. “I guess that’s a good thing.” He said it more to convince himself than anything, willing his brain to accept that this was a good thing he was doing, that it would be worth it and that the good outweighed the bad. He wasn’t quite buying it, but he thought that maybe if he kept trying, eventually he’d believe it.

if only i could keep you in my pocket

please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me

|♡|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Outside Stables --> Zeus' Fist|Tags: Stable group; Aiden, Orin, Auggie --> Open|Mentions: Cass, Delilah|
Mirabelle opened her mouth to say something, but Auggie was racing off before she could speak. Suddenly, shouting. The sound of a fist hitting flesh. Mirabelle unleashed a vicious string of curse words under her breath. She jogged after the Hades head counselor, leaving Firefly standing in the snowy field.
She arrived just in time to see Auggie slamming into Leo. Throwing her backpack to the ground, she sprinted towards the fighting, barely even stopping to think. They were punching each other out now, and there was Orin, curled on the ground. Panic ballooned in her chest, but it was quickly overtaken by a calm, steady anger. "Aiden." Her voice was unusually low. "Go find Chiron. Now." A dangerous edge worked its way into her tone, indicating just how close she was to letting her emotions consume her. She had no idea if Aiden had actually followed her, but she had more pressing matters to consider.
Now, to address the current situation. She threw all the charmspeak she could muster into one commanding word. "Stop!"
She had no idea if it would work, but it was worth a shot. Incredulous, she stared down at the tussling demigods. "What the hell is wrong with you people!? The camp - our home - is under attack by a literal goddess and who knows how many monsters, and you're too busy fighting each other to focus on the real enemy? Just use your words, damn it! Why can't you just work things out like mature individuals!? Just - gods damn it all!" She was yelling now; shouting above the din of the fighting. Her voice shook with emotion as it rose in pitch and volume; the feelings she'd been holding back bubbling over into anger and frustration. A look of surprise flitted across her face momentarily as she realised what she'd said. It was soon replaced with an expression of stern disappointment. She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm disappointed in you. Both of you." A brief pause, followed by a look of contrition. "I - I'm sorry." With that, Mirabelle turned and stalked away. She didn't even bother sticking around to see if her charmspeak had worked. Part of her wanted to stay to make sure Orin was okay. But she knew she had to remove herself from the situation, or risk making it worse. If she hadn't already done that. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in...
Mirabelle had no idea where she was going, just - away. She needed to get away from it all. She barely even saw Delilah and Cass as she passed them by.
Before she knew it, the rocky formation of Zeus' Fist swam into her field of view. Great. Just what I need - turbulent emotions and cursed land, to boot. She wasn't sure she believed the rumours, but ever since Kampê had been killed there, everyone was saying the place was cursed. Whatever. Whatever, I don't care. I don't. Her vision blurred. She blinked furiously to clear it, biting down hard on her cheek. I don't care how upset I am; I'm not crying. I won't.
She seated herself on one of the boulders, hunching forward as she tried to calm herself down. Shh, it's okay. You'll be alright. It's okay. The anger was dissipating now, leaving her with a profound sense of emptiness. I hate this. I hate this! This - this lack of control. With the rage gone, the cold started to sink its icy talons into her. She wrapped her arms around herself in both an act of self-soothing and an attempt to keep herself warm. Right. Breathe in, breathe out. Slow and steady. She was rubbing her arms slowly now. It's okay. It's okay. Gods, she didn't even know why she was so upset in the first place. Had the fighting really gotten to her that much? No, no - there was something deeper. Something she forcefully shoved back into its bottle the minute it reared its ugly head. Just breathe. You'll be alright. You have to be. Mirabelle squeezed her eyes shut. A shaky inhale, a trembling exhale. She did her best to ignore the dull ache of emptiness spreading through her chest, instead focusing on her breathing. Mes dieux, when did I become such a mess? She sniffled, swiping a sleeved under her nose. Right. Just pull yourself together. Get it together before you have to face everyone again.
|⟡|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Cabin 3|Tags: Sa'd, Zahra --> Hu, Caspia|
Juliet nodded slowly while she listened to Sa'd and Set speak. She crossed her arms tighter over her chest as she regarded this newcomer - another adult, she noticed. And a rather alluring one at that. Sporting a tight burgundy t-shirt and a pair of black jeans, with a really awesome black leather jacket around her shoulders. Fingers covered in golden rings, a lion's head pendant dangling around their neck. Her golden eyes framed with black eyeliner. And were those combat boots? Man, Juliet wished she looked that cool. She felt dull by comparison, with her beat-up jeans and holey purple sweater. Her aviator jacket was pretty sweet, she reckoned. That ought to earn her some 'cool' points at least.
"Trading instead of taking... yeah, I can swing that." Juliet shifted on her feet. "Colourful rocks you say..." A sinister look crossed her face. A plan was starting to formulate in her brain of how to trick the gryphon, though she'd have to run it by Hu first. Oh, and Caspia, if she was the pranking type. "Yeah, sure. I'll tell ya how it goes." She waved offhandedly, though she would probably forget her agreement the moment Sa'd left.
"Anyways, good to meetcha, sad dude. And chaos guy or whatever. See you around. Or maybe not." She shrugged, her typical air of nonchalance doing its work. "And you too, I guess." The latter was directed at the adult and the weird girl following her around, though Juliet hadn't caught either's name. All in all not a big deal. She probably would've just forgotten their names anyways.

"Like, thanks, man!" Chuck bleated, breaking into a grin. "You have like, no idea how relieving it is to hear that, you know?" He watched as Yuno jotted something down, absently chewing on his sleeve. Always organised, that one. They reminded him of Mira in that sense - though Mira tended to have a mental checklist rather than a physical one. He absently wondered if Mira's mental checklist was colour-coded and had little sticky notes all over it.
"Uh, so like, where do we even start?" Chuck shuffled his hooves in the snow. "We can totally like, get the other satyrs to help and stuff, most of them are like, trying to anyways, I think." He'd seen a few fellow satyrs out in the woods, mostly consoling dryads and attempting to offer help, though they had seemed a bit confused as to how exactly to do so.
|⊙|Zahra Al-Amin|217/Looks 32|She/They|Magician; Eye of Sekhmet|Location: Outside Cabin 3 --> Behind Cabins|Tags: Jay, Sa'd/Set|
Zahra was a bit miffed at being called a 'girl' by the chaos god - she was two hundred and seventeen years old, for crying out loud. That, and they weren't fully a woman to begin with. Sure, she had been using 'she/her' pronouns more in her head that day, but that tended to fluctuate depending on how they felt. Nonetheless, the Eye of Sekhmet led the Host of Set and their accompanying god behind a row of buildings, which Chiron had called 'cabins' earlier. Zahra thought that was rather funny - the only building that looked cabin-like in any regard to her was the one the aforementioned gryphon was seated outside. They checked back to make sure that Jay was following; she and Anubis should hear this information as well.
When they were far enough out of earshot of any demigods, Zahra stopped walking and turned to face the three. "Jay and Anubis, I believe, have already made my acquaintance, but allow me to introduce myself. I am Zahra Abubakar Nashwa Al-Amin, Magician of the Ninth Nome and current Eye of Sekhmet. I wish there were time for more formalities, but I must 'get to the point', as they say." Her tone was clear and sharp, but not unkind. Their mixed Arabic-London accent had thickened in her haste, and they hoped the three could comprehend what she was saying. "Set, Anubis - we need your help. The Duat is in chaos - almost literally, I'm afraid. You two recall the Ogdoad, though I am uncertain if your Hosts have recollection. Hosts, do either of you know of the Ogdoad? I can explain briefly if I must."
-
At Jay's admission, Zahra's face grew almost disappointed. "I see. They must not be teaching the Ogdoad cosmology in your Nome. Shame on them." She hadn't necessarily meant it in a mean nor chastising way, but it certainly came out that way. "The Ogdoad are eight gods; the first gods. They were born of the Sea of Chaos and are thought to be extensions of Isfet itself." She paused to let that sink in. "The eight are as follows. Nun and Naunet; the gods of chaos and water, Heh and Hauhet; gods of boundlessness, Kuk and Kauket; gods of darkness, and Amun and Amaunet; gods of invisibility, of air, and void. They are frog and snake gods respectively. " She watched the two teenagers' faces as she continued. "Something has greatly angered them, and caused them to awaken from their slumber. They are wreaking havoc in the Duat; tearing it completely asunder. The Sea of Chaos - it is expanding. You can see why I have been sent. We need your help. The gods need your help."
|❄|Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Mount Marcy Caverns/Mount Marcy Throne Room|Tags: NA/Nicholas, Malcolm, Hicks, The Vessel|
"Eris, how thoughtful of you to make your presence known." Khione's tone was flat and emotionless as usual. She had sensed the other goddess's energy earlier, but hadn't seen fit to address her until she herself was addressed. She did not answer the query, however, instead gesturing silently towards the being that had begun to materialise in the centre of the room. Shadows peeled themselves from the walls and wrapped around the humanoid creature as it solidified its presence.
"The Vessel." Khione's eyes almost seemed to glitter with anticipation. Death's outburst caused her to jolt back abruptly, however. Perhaps I made a mistake in selecting him for the task at hand. Before she could answer, the Vessel's manifestation became flesh and blood.
The Vessel looked... human, but not entirely. Like a puppetmaster’s imitation of a human form. They moved with sharp, jagged movements, seeming almost too fast for Their body. A perceptive eye could see that Their feet did not touch the ground; hovering mere centimetres above. Their short black hair defied gravity altogether, floating and twisting as if underwater. Curiously, a pair of dark, reflective sunglasses rested where Their eyes should’ve been. Their energy was just as odd, if not moreso. Looking at Them was like staring at a gaping maw. They exuded a sense of absolute nothingness. Nothingness that wanted to be filled.
When the Vessel spoke, it was as if a thousand voices whispered directly into the mind.
"We will reshape the world," They hissed. Their mouth did not move. "It begins with the opening." Their words sounded odd and disjointed, almost like a computer trying to impersonate human speech. Their head swiveled to stare directly at Death from behind their sunglasses. "Your domain?" A look of amusement spread across their face. A smile, but not quite right. "We have existed there before there was even a Tartarus to speak of, Nicholas Storm; Death, Horseman of the Apocalypse. Now, yes, you aired concerns about the Doors. Without the opening, there will be no new world. Everything here will be just as it is - broken, teetering on the verge of destruction. We wish to save the world - to take back that which was created from nothing. We wish to reshape it, to make it whole and healthy once more. If you are to stand in our way, then you have no business being here." The Vessel paused, their sunglasses reflecting Death's face back at him. "You will open the way. With the Doors open, our allies in Tartarus can join forces with our allies here. Then, the breaking of the old world commences. Finally, the pull, and all will be as it is meant to be." The Vessel had a strangely transfixing aura, almost as if dragging the other gods' attention to Themself. If one stared too long at Them, the urge to move towards Them began to trickle into their mind. Khione herself felt her body leaning forward, almost as if beyond her control. But something inside her froze - a sense of primal fear; like a prey animal lunging to escape being eaten.
"Some of you have been promised something of this new world..." Their neck turned at an unnatural angle, and a loud crack resonated through the room. "Some have not." They fixed Prime Minister Kingston and Death with Their sunglassed stare, head whipping towards each in turn. The movement was faster than it should have been, and almost predatory in nature. "Tell us. What is it you desire? Name it, and we shall ensure it comes to pass."
(Gonna wait for Nick before responding to Malcolm c:)

she had a rather pointy knee. he noticed that as it drove into his stomach, making him inadvertently double over. "world's a stage," he uttered before the jaw punch landed again. she seemed to like that move - and all the better for him. though it sent little sparks of white light through his vision, the iron-clad nature of his facial bone structure was enough to keep him relatively upright.
'what the hell is he doing?'
a worthy opponent - what a sight! a miracle, in the camp filled with adolescents who guzzled celestial medicine for the smallest of grazes and made 'first blood' rules about spars. even capture the flag had been disappointing for him, never quite reaching the level that would provide him the much-needed hit of adrenaline. leo had made a name for himself as a hard hitter. he wasn't going to disappoint for favour of letting the daughter of hades get her little false victory.
'winning,'
"you wanna meet your maker?" he hummed through his unrelenting grin. inhibitions lost, holds barred, this was where he shone. his stance changed, going from one of general laxness to entirely tensed, calculating, watching. there were a few ways he could pin her. a couple of cracked ribs, some nasty bruises. none of them lasted long enough. he never got to see the joy of his little paintings, though the peripheral view of orin's still crumpled, flinching form was a nice substitute.
both of leo's fists clenched and unclenched before launching onto her shoulders. he was prepared to slam her into the damned underworld head first. and he would have. he wanted to.
"stop!"
'call it! call it! he's down! mercy's gonna kill him!'
leo stopped. the grip lessened. reason, as dastardly as it was, returned to his head. the sight in front of him, a blood-smeared painting. the red haze lifted. it was cold. he was very, very cold.
"- our home -"
no, not quite. that wasn't the right word. he had been dragged to camp by his ear. he didn't want to stay, it was just that he couldn't quite leave. not with eyes around every corner, whispers on every street. he'd be shot like a dog. his hands fell from auggie's shoulders. the smile dropped. relief, the world returned to him, and then regret. he didn't like the second part.
a step back, a look at his surroundings. he wasn't even that sure how he had made it to the stables. "did -" no, that was a stupid question before it even hit his tongue. the answer was yes. it had always been yes. he was yet to reach a situation in which the answer had been no. "we'll call it a draw, then." there was no point in exerting his remorse. it wouldn't do anything for him. "does he need help?"

[✩] Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|outside|tags:Leo, Orin, Mira, AidenShe felt a jolt through her fist when she struck him again, ignoring the sensation that would certainly leave her knuckles bruised and possibly bleeding. He was still grinning maniacally, which only served to piss her off more. Was it impossible to wipe that snide look off his face? She should’ve felt more afraid when his hands landed on her shoulders. She’d picked fights with people twice her size many times before and often gotten the worst of it. There was a part of her brain that knew she should be afraid of what he could do to her, but she didn’t pay any attention to that part.
Auggie struggled in his grip, prepared to attempt to hit him again, when the commanding voice of the Aphrodite head counsellor rang out, Leo’s grip slackening immediately. She stopped struggling, the tension in her muscles releasing as the haze of anger faded away. The urge to fight dissipating didn’t stop her from shooting a glare Mira’s way, gritting her teeth to stop any unsavoury comments from slipping out of her mouth. Use your words. Right, because that worked well with Ares kids. What had she been supposed to do, ask him nicely to stop beating the crap out of Orin? That would’ve worked wonderfully, maybe they could’ve even had a tea party afterwards and painted each other’s nails. She kept the contemptuous remarks to herself, tuning back into the berating just as Mira finished.
She didn’t have much time to wonder what was going on inside the other girl’s head before her gaze dropped to the crumpled form of Orin on the ground. She barely heard Leo’s final remark, rushing over and falling to her knees beside him. “Of course he does,” she snapped back at the son of Ares, tone still full of resentment despite the fight being over. “You could’ve—“ she stopped herself abruptly, unable to finish her sentence without betraying what Orin had confided in her earlier.
“Where’s Chiron? Or—or Felix. Get Felix. He’s probably in the Apollo cabin,” she ordered before turning her attention back to the son of Zeus on the ground, gently laying a hand on his shoulder, as if she were afraid touching him would hurt him more—and she was fairly certain it would. “Hey, you’re okay. You’re okay.” It was a command more than a question. He had to be okay, it wasn’t a choice. She ignored the implications of her shaking voice. She knew what could happen to him having gotten a bad blow to the head, she would’ve been just as concerned for any of her campmates, it just happened to be him. She wasn’t going to look into that, there were more pressing things to worry about.

──── Aiden Seaver
[✦] | Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | ➡ The Stables | Tags: Mirabelle, Orin, Auggie, Leo
❝𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜❞
Aiden stood quietly—and rather awkwardly—as Mirabelle politely interjected herself into the conversation. He offered a small wave to Skylar and Aggy, giving the two girls an apologetic look as he shuffled over. August seemed a little confused by their approach, and he couldn't blame her. If she wasn't at the stables already, he probably wouldn't have gone out of his way to find her.
All at once, everyone's attention was elsewhere. There was no more time for goodbyes, no chance was given before August bolted away to the source of the distress. The child of Athena was hot on Mira's heels, trampling through the snow in Augusta's wake. He skidded to a halt, his reaction to the gruesome sight vastly contrasting those of the people around him. "Oh boy," his eyes widened as he balled his fists. "A fight!" His eyes almost seemed to light up. "Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fi—"
"Aiden."
Mirabelle's voice cut into his chants. "Go find Chiron. Now." Her tone was serious, which served as a harsh reminder that he had a lot more responsibility now that he was a head counselor. "Oh—uh, right." a pause. "Actually, I think that Chiron can wait. Orin can't." He'd been so encapsulated by the skirmish (August went full beast mode on that kid, and he thought that was pretty awesome) that he hadn't noticed just how battered and bloody the son of Zeus was. Mira reached the same conclusion Aiden was prepared to voice before he uttered the words, the soothing speech of her charmspeak washing over the crowd. Her words hit close to home, and they rekindled the sense of impending doom he'd been trying to snuff out. Right. The end of the world was right around the corner, the last thing they needed to do was start whaling on each other. "Mira," before he could stop her, Mirabelle was gone. Aiden cut his losses and glanced between the remaining trio. Orin looked, well, worse than crap. August was fuming, and the glimmer had since faded from Leo's eyes, instead filling with regret.
"Felix is back?" The news came as a shock. Aiden barrelled over to Orin, squatting in the snow next to the Hades head counselor. "That works, here let me," he gently motioned her back, trying to get a better read on Orin's injuries. His own hands were red from the cold, but it was nothing compared to all the blood. To his left, he spotted Mira's discarded backpack: specifically, a first-aid kit amongst its scattered contents. Mira, forgive me. He snatched the white container and got straight to work. Felix could take over, but Orin didn't have the time to waste waiting.

ivi stables - outside. only moments after the first blow had landed, orin had been struck with a very sudden, very intense rush of panic. it had, in its crash, sent him tumbling to his knees, throwing his arms over his head in a protective stance, and crumbling onto his side. it hadn't deterred leo, but it was doing an alright job of protecting his head.
it was strange, because normally this wasn't the case. normally, he was pushing taunts, making things much worse for himself, generally causing more of a problem than need be. he was usually bearing his face for ample hitting space, not curling in on himself and haggardly breathing through the demolishment. this, he realised, came down to one thing at its core. all of a sudden, without rhyme or reason, orin was very scared of dying.
his enlightenment had him barely noticing that the blows had stopped coming, nor that the fight had migrated somewhere else. he stayed in his safe, curled ball, mind racing through every possible change that could have led to this. he didn't get scared. he wasn't the type. he didn't collapse in the face of a little danger, so what was different?
"nothing better to do than show off -' - that was auggie. that was auggie, and she sounded angry, properly angry, and that meant that she was probably facing off against the iron fisted man as he lay, stunned. he was going to have to do something. he was going to have to get up at some point, and stopping the wild-eyed spawn of ares from cabing her skull in seemed like a good reason. still, though, he wasn't moving. his right hand managed to shift from its position curled around his head, becoming a fist pressed against the core of his stomach. he could charge it up. grab the man with a volt-ridden palm, send him frazzled to the floor. he could do that.
as he tried to muster it up, feeling the energy course through the tendons of his fingers, he failed to notice that it had stopped, that auggie had shifted her attentions to him, and the words that wouldn't make themselves clear were about him.
the fuzz faded. a hand on his shoulder made him tense, but the accompanying voice made him let go of a long-held breath. without yet opening his eyes, he unclenched his fist, using it instead to cover her hand with his own. a little current of electricity had still been present in his palm - he felt it leave, hoped it wouldn't be too shocking.
most of the pain, thankfully, was in his abdomen. the blood had spilt from a split on his cheekbone, a little ring around his eye, and a knuckle to the nose that had it gushing like a damned fountain. orin was just glad that the adrenaline was keeping him warm, turning his head slowly to allow for aiden's efforts. he didn't open his eyes - felt like it was a fool's errand, but footfall sounded, accompanied by a very familiar shout, and he managed to let out a low, garbled groan of discontent.
"orin?" like he had been summoned by mere mention of his name, felix had reared his head, skidding through the snow to land a bit too close to orin's head for his liking. "is he conscious? what in hades happened? what did he do?"
he had wanted to say something along the lines of 'nothing, actually. so you can drop that tone. nice to see you too, by the way', but it came out more of a muffled string of mismatched syllables.
"conscious, then," came the muttered response. "you're - auggie, aren't you? i saw you two earlier, but he looked like he was avoiding me. lot of good that did." there was an anxiety in his voice, very barely masked. "and aiden! you've grown."

[✩] Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|outside|tags:Leo, Orin, AidenSeeing Orin curled up on the ground had sent a surge of panic through her, enough to distract her from the violation she should’ve felt at having the Aphrodite counsellor’s charmspeak used on her. It wasn’t like him not to be running his mouth a mile a minute, even after being punched repeatedly. When she knelt down next to him, he didn’t seem to notice her at first, and for a worrying moment she thought he might be worse than she’d initially believed, the anger and adrenaline from the fight quickly giving way to anxiety. He’d said that what he’d told her would make her hate him. It hadn’t, but she was very aware she had more reason to be concerned over the blood on his face than the other two present did.
Then he moved his hand onto hers and she felt a flood of relief, wincing slightly at the pressure on her bruised knuckles, but barely reacting to the shock he gave her. If he was conscious enough to move and to at least attempt to use his powers then he had to be okay. She flipped her hand over, holding onto his briefly. “You’re alright, pikachu.” she muttered before seeming to realize what she was doing and pulling away, slipping both hands into the pockets of her jacket. She shuffled back to give Aiden room, watching his movements carefully as the son of Athena procured a first aid kit and began to work.
At the sound of running footsteps and another voice, Auggie looked up just in time to see the son of Apollo skidding to a halt next to them. She opened her mouth to respond when Orin seemed to attempt to. She raised an eyebrow at the mess of incoherent speech that came out of his mouth before looking back at Felix. She nodded in response, frowning as he continued. “Is now really the time for catching up or do you maybe want to stop him from bleeding first?” she asked, unable to keep the edge of annoyance from her voice. At least he knew. He’d dealt with this before and he could fix it. The anxiety in his voice wasn’t lost on her but she chose to ignore it, focusing instead on slowing her own racing heartbeat, trying to believe that everything was going to be fine simply because she had no other choice.
if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

ivi stables - outside. the comforting was nice. the nickname even in face of it all, the awful facts of the matter, was a plight that he was, as a matter of fact, okay. it was going to be fine. it had to be fine. the hand fell from his grip, a little sadness, but at least he knew she was still there.
the arrival of felix was equal parts an annoyance and a relief, especially with the adrenaline beginning to dwindle, the cold of his snowy bed beginning to set in his bones. auggie managed to put him in his place a bit, which was good of her, would have garnered a proud little smile in the right circumstances. a huff from the man indicated momentary displeasure about being so called out, but he didn't waste time getting to work. orin's head was propped up on what he assumed to be a knee. "eyes open," he opened one. the other refused. felix was in most of his vision, looking at him analytically in a way that made him a little nervous.
a hand in front of his face, fingers waving. he knew the routine.
"three," one dropped. "two," a whole palm splayed. "five,"
"he speaks," felix gave him a little smile. "head?" orin shook it. he knew what he was asking. "you haven't hurled. that's good. you know where you are?" a nod. "alright." his hand went into one of his many inside coat pockets, retrieving a hip flask from the depths. let it be whiskey. please, gods, let it be whiskey. just a little bit of it. let dionysus bless - "nectar. drink," bugger. despite his disappointment, he did, letting the warmth spread through him again. it didn't do much to fix the stomach pain, but his head felt less like it had been wrapped in cellophane and kicked down a hill. that was a start.
after, felix got to cleaning the mess up - the hefty amount of blood that had dropped from his nose at the slightest of grazes. as he worked, he began to talk. "sorry i'm early. i was meant to get a normal taxi, but they wouldn't drive in the snow. had to get in with the gray sisters,"
"number," orin murmured, looking the son of apollo in the eye.
"asked about that man. they were yapping on, way they normally did, but it was funny," he had ignored the request. "talking in riddles, like normal, but they kept saying 'she' instead of 'he'."
"number,"
"so i don't know if it's a case of - of them getting a bit mixed up, or if that means something, you know? because they said 'she waited in the depths', and then all of 'em laughed at the word 'asmodeus', and -"
"felix,"
he fell silent. just kept working away at scraping the drying blood off of his cheek. "there you go. all better," he said simply. "you're gonna need sleep, though. a boatload of it. how much did you get last night?"
"please, can you just -"
"no," brief, harsh. "not right now. no." his gaze shifted to auggie. "do you need anything? you look like you've been in the wars."
it was only then that orin took a proper look at her, frowning as he considered the shouts he had heard through the fuzz of panic. "did he hit you?" the request that had been denied was lost to the wind now, the only remaining thought one of anger toward the son of ares. "are you alright?"
