Aydan Tags: Ophelia, Celeste, and Mira Location: Dining Pavilion

Aydan nodded as he took a seat next to Ophelia. "Um yeah, Aydan.... Aydan Hunt." he told Mirabelle before taking a spoonful of fruit and yogurt and shoving it in his mouth. He was hoping that was that so he could at least finish his breakfast but Mirabelle was talking to him again. "Nice to meet you Mirabelle, head counselor of the Aphrodite cabin and Celeste. I have no title but, I am the recently claimed son of Khione." he said, his words coming off unintentionally sarcastic. He may be a bit hangry and it was starting to seep through. He looked at the girl's hands for a moment then to Ophelia for reassurance before gently taking Mirabelle's hand and shaking it then Celeste's and doing the same. "I bet she will do great during your leave." he said positively for both girls sake.

He went back to eating and minding his own business until he heard Alex's name. He knew that name from somewhere "Oh yeah, the dim wit that fell from the tree before capture the flag started. That kid was missing? "Alex is missing?" he said to no one in particular.

Sa'd gave Ash a grin. "I was asking because in Greek the Egyptian god of knowlege is OwO. But he's pretty chill, so I doubt he would unless his babboon ate something he wasn't supposed to again. Hermes is the god of thieves and travellers right?" Sa'd asked.

Set drummed his fingers on the table. "Yes, Sa'd do tell what's this prank?" Set asked knowing he was the culprit.

"It's your idea jerk." Sa'd told the god.

"WE got a sphinx and a griffin and set them outside the Aries and Hermes cabins, respectively, to see what the campers would do. We have yet to see what happens though." Sa'd explained.

"It was my idea." Set said as if it no other explanation was needed.

[] Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|arena|tags:Reese

Auggie couldn’t stop a grin from spreading across her face as Reese slashed towards the shadow form she had created and she got a hit in at his side. She hadn’t been sure it would actually work, but he seemed nervous enough to fall for her trick. She staggered forwards a few steps as the momentum of her charge carried her, but quickly regained her balance, watching carefully as Reese seemed to be struggling to focus on something. Powers not working? How tragic.

She smiled as he seemed to fall into a panic, taking the opportunity to strike again. She paused for a moment in confusion, narrowing her eyes as the boy attempted to hide behind his blade like a shield. Did he really think that was going to protect him? Her moment of confusion was furthered by the sudden appearance of an eagle, swooping overhead and dropping a silver shield at the boy’s feet. That hardly seemed fair.

Shaking off her bewilderment, she lunged forward again, sword ready to strike before he had a chance to figure out whatever it was he was attempting to do. Unfortunately, she felt the trembling of the ground and saw the grin return to his face a moment too late, her expression falling again just as her foot landed on the spot he had charged with energy.

[]Caleb Thomas|18|he/him|Athena|Arena|Tags:Emmie, mentions Auggie and Reese

Caleb felt a surge of satisfaction when his shield made contact with the fox’s back foot. It didn’t really do much, but at least he’d done something. His eyes widened at the cackling sound she made, blinking at the noise that seemed to mock him despite not using any real words—at least not ones he could understand. “Sorry, I don’t speak fox.”

His expression shifted from mildly amused to mystified as the fox form leapt into the air and transformed into an eagle. “You have more than one? He blinked, too in awe to worry about what the girl was planning to do in her sudden bird of prey form. “Now you really have to teach me how to do that,” he quipped.

He braced himself for an attack, readying his dagger to defend himself, but the blow never came. Instead the girl took his shield and swept away across the arena. He watched with dismay as she dropped it at the feet of the Hades boy, who seemed to be having his own struggle at the moment. “Oh come on! Now you’re just playing dirty,” he cried, though it came out as more of an exasperated laugh.

His gaze lingered on the boy and the shield for a moment before he tore his eyes back to the girl standing in front of him. She seemed to be taunting him with a light show and he raised his eyebrows. There was no way he could charge her now, the second he got in close enough range to do anything with his dagger she’d easily shock him. He considered throwing it, but then he’d be stuck with nothing at all to defend himself. “Guess we’ll find out, huh?” he replied simply, not appearing to be discouraged in the slightest.

“This may come as a bit of a shock to you,” he said, smiling at his own awful joke. “But the shield ring was not the only thing up my sleeve.” He reached into the pocket of his jeans, pulling out what appeared to be a long wire with a weighted ball on each end. “Haven’t had a chance to turn this one into a fashionable piece of jewelry yet, but I think it would make a nice necklace, no?” He held it up towards his face briefly, as though asking for an opinion, then he lunged forward, making as if he were going to strike with his dagger. At the last moment, he rolled to the side, tossing the weighted wire with the intention of wrapping around the girls legs and tripping her up.

i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?

Aiden couldn't help but agree with Jamie. "Sounds like we're always going to be out of the loop." He sighed. "Does Chiron know?" Will nodded. "I hope he 'as an answer for y'all. He... He didn' take well t' the news. 'ard to tell." He felt as though Will was failing to mention something else, but he didn't pry. "Hey Jamie," he elbowed the Iris camper. "Have you packed for the quest yet? I imagine Chiron's gonna have that meeting for everyone going pretty soon, and I uh... I got hungry and forgot." Aiden didn't imagine it would take him very long to pack regardless; he didn't have a whole lot to bring. Just some clothes and his weapons, right? He could probably just grab some stuff from the armory and chuck it into his duffle bag, boom. "Just grab a muffin or something to take with you, we'll make it quick." Aiden hopped up from the table, preparing to dart off towards the cabins. Will caught him by the collar first, pulling the much smaller camper into a massive bear hug. Aiden made an audible squeak, mostly because he didn't expect it. "Now you listen t' me and you listen good." Will's voice was gently scolding. "Come back safe, y'hear? I don't care if yer savin' the world or bein' a hero, you an' I still got a lot of catchin' up to do. Been too long, buddy." Aiden nodded, mumbling an agreement to the Hephaestus camper before they parted ways. Aiden started in the direction of the cabins, while Wilhelm picked up his plate and moved to the designated Hephaestus table.

The Apollo table was empty for a few precious moments before the day truly started to get going. She took her spot near the middle of the bench, sitting with one or two early risers who made it to the dining pavilion before the storm. Lucy poked and prodded at her food, taking bites of it in small doses. As she nibbled at her pancakes, she spotted the floodgates open. The rest of the Apollo cabin came trudging up through the snow, and leading the charge was just the man she wanted to see. "Hank!" She sang, her voice carrying through the pavilion. Lucy swung her legs over to the other side of the bench, bending down to greet the head counselors forever companion, Izzy. "And hello to you too, Izzy!" She cooed, giving the English Pointer a few well-deserved head pats. She stood and skipped across the mess hall to greet Hank, pulling him into the big hugs a number of campers knew Lucy from. "I've missed you so much, Hank! How's it been here since I've been gone? I heard yesterday was nothing but disaster! But I didn't quite get any details from anyone, I was a little late..." She swirled back and forth with her hands folded in front of her.

𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚑𝚎 𝚠𝚑𝚘 𝚜𝚊𝚝 𝚘𝚗 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚊𝚍 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚗𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝙳𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚑
"You're taller than I expected."

Why is that the first thing people notice? Nicholas suppressed a sigh. God of death, horseman of the apocalypse, and people know me for being tall. He briefly scanned the room, sensing the presence of another. Upon spotting the man Hicks (specifically, his weapon), the horseman trailed a finger to his ring, preparing for the worst. It seemed the maneuver would be unnecessary. With that, Death relaxed, taking a seat opposite the mortal. "He's well trained." He observed. "Though, I must ask. Have you considered replacing him with someone less…" he paused, searching for the ideal descriptor as he monitored Hicks' status in the other room. Confusion primarily, tinged with fear, though he was interested in their conversation nonetheless. "fragile?" Death suggested. "I can see you're rather partial to his usefulness, so you could always look into an upgrade rather than a replacement." All around the room were shimmering faces, figures only half present during their meeting. Most of them paid the two powers little mind.

Onto the task at hand: "Jupiter." The horseman agreed. Nicholas listened to Malcolm's plot with keen interest, giving the politician his full attention. At least, as much of it as could when the sensations of both the living and the dead were scrabbling for his focus. His previous mention of a "Chicago attack" confirmed the presence of a third, more volatile force joining the fray. From the looks of things, it would work in their favor for the time being. "And a war they'll have." Death concurred. "Somehow, you've managed to convince a majority of the population that 'demigods,'" he used air quotes. "exist and live among them. And their response? Predictable, to say the least." The horseman accepted the glass, briefly taking a sip of his own before continuing.

"Humans' greatest strength is also their greatest weakness. You're all persistent little buggers, I'll give you that. Some of the most adaptable and resourceful beings I've ever come across, and the only ones I've ever known to successfully stave off the apocalypse." He rubbed a hand over his breast as if recalling an old wound. "You're a formidable force when banded together, but you're so easily divided. And I'll assume Eris plans to keep it that way." A pause to collect his thoughts. "Now, this next question is for our dear Eris herself." He met Malcolm's gaze, but his eyes looked past the man to something deeper within him. "What are you getting out of this? Besides satisfaction and chaos, of course. Khione's mentioned to me the same allies seeking her support tried reaching out to you, and yet it sounds like I was the last to know." a tilt of his head. "You guys haven't forgotten about little ol' Death, have you? There's a part of me that's far more ancient than you or any of your siblings, keep in mind."

Skylar Kakitid, 16 years old, Female, Daughter of Hecate, 7 year camper, Location: Dining Pavilion, Tags: Hank, Mentions: None

Skylar felt her heart drop when she heard Hank's next words. Five Apollo campers. Five of Hank's siblings. Five out of eighteen. Five brave Apollo campers who had probably gone in to save those in the collapsing infirmary. "Wow, Hank. I can't imagine what you and your siblings must be going through." She couldn't imagine trying to process that kind of grief while trying to lead the campers. That kind of burden should never be on just one person. "If you ever need help with, I don't know, explaining to the younger ones or something, let me know." At his question about her, Skylar paused. How could he worry about her when he had so much going on? "Going okay. Luckily we didn't lose anyone, but all of us have lost someone we know well. I have had countless people ask me about resurrection spells, though. Sadly, it's just not possible. Some of my siblings have just been upset about not being able to do much for those campers. I can handle it, though. I am more worried about if this continues. What do you think will happen with the quest?" Skylar knew she had so much to do to help her cabinmates here, but for some reason after all the visions she had had, and after the accident in the forest, she felt like she needed to go. Maybe if she was strong and powerful, she could get this thing done quicker and restore things to normal. Maybe all this quest needs was her to magic her way through everything and fix all the problems. Defeat the evil, save the world, fix the cold, blah blah blah. She had been on countless quests before, all simple and easy ones. Would this be any different?

Bay Laurel, Immortal, Female, Drayd, Location: Dining Pavilion --> Apollo Cabin, Tags: Niji, Mentions: None

Bay Laurel finished passing out some food to the campers, then decided to go to the Apollo Cabin to give out food to those being treated there. She gathered up plates of pancakes, eggs, and bacon and balanced all of it in her hands and on a few of her branches that were a part of her dress. She bustled past campers and carefully walked to the Cabin. The door was opened for her and she hurried in. She set several plates down and gave helpings of breakfast to those awake. She saw someone curled up asleep on one of the beds and brought a plate to them. She recognized the sleeping form as Niji, one of the Dionysus campers. She set the food down and gently started to shake Niji awake. "Breakfast!" She called gently, "Wake up."

mentioned: nicholas

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
"he's proved useful. i only got given him yesterday, but it's rare to find someone like him." malcolm said in regards to the ex-soldier. it was true - it was admirable, the fact that he had a mind of his own and yet still managed to prevent himself from using it, clinging to orders as best as he could. the silence that he had been greeted with on the plane had been unsettling. now, it was quite a creature comfort. "replacing him?" he repeated, the idea a new one. he was no stranger to replacing his staff, but usually it was a result of a minor error. when nicholas switched the idea to an admittedly more mystifying 'upgrade', malcolm raised his eyebrow. "i have to ask. upgrade how?"
he had an idea. the spirits around the room, the facts of the horseman's existence, the nature of their meeting, it all seemed to line up with hicks' death.
still. would be good to hear him say it properly.

"the public like an authority figure. they like explanations more. something to pin their blame on. i could have told them that their world was being ruled by ferrets and they would have believed me as long as i was wearing the right colour tie." he said. "the human race. grandiose and almost irredeemably stupid." save for himself, of course. that went without saying.

nicholas' eyes seemed to change as they fixed on malcolm's own. speaking beyond the windows, straight to the occupied soul. the hand around the flute clenched for just a moment. face slacked, eyes unfocused. "no, not forgotten. dearly remembered," came the words, deeper and throatier than his regular tenor.
then he coughed, the spell broken, and cracked his neck. "sorry. excuse me," a drink from the now firmly held glass. "she's a woman of few words," he said. "brevity being the soul of wit, i suppose. but i can supplement."

"we found each other," malcolm spoke. "both of us weak. both of us fading. that's the word she used, fading. like a flame in a room emptying of oxygen. me, for -" he scrunched up his nose. "different reasons. ones you know well. anyway - i accepted her with open arms. nothing to lose, all to gain. she said i would be like a god." the memory seemed to sift over his eyes. "as i got what i wanted, she did too. the more i channelled her, used her tips, her threads of words in my head, the more powerful she got, and consequently, the more powerful i got. but this - this is the big bang. the final nail tugged from the coffin. something tells me she has been waiting for this for a very long time. i say 'something' - she tells me that. often." he finished the drink, placed the empty glass down on the table beside him. "but i don't know about you. all you know, all that power. i know this is big, but i don't think it's big for the same reasons as you think it's big. is this - i don't know, initiation? the start of a brand new world?" he glanced around at the shredded ghosts. "rapture?"

caspia nodded, looking over to the fox as it dug out the golden coins from the fountain. "well atleast the old man cares for us." she chuckled, a bit bitter about the man. although he couldn't have predicted anything her mother would put her through, she couldn't help but wonder what kind of woman her mother was when she met him. the iris messages sounded rather neat to her "so you could get anything on a iris message? that's pretty innovative for ancient gods." she still had an extremely hard time believing everything being explained to her, it was overwhelming but she had to keep up.

looking back over as hu introduced the fish in the tank, she couldn't help but laugh at the names. they sounded ridiculous "are you a huge history buff? these are pretty creative." she giggled, moving closer to get a good look at the fish. her eyes trained on them as she heard tiny voices, looking over to hu she was a bit perplexed "do you hear that?" she questioned, looking back at the fish confusedly.

delilah smiled as he took the flower, leaning down to grab her basket. "that's right, usually we get names switched up." dahlia spoke, placing her hand in her pocket. she was a bit surprised he had gotten it right on the first guess, but it wasn't a huge deal. "I wouldn't be one to judge for sleeping late, I don't usually get up this early." she laughed lightly, trying to keep up a light-hearted conversation. "we could head to the mess hall together, I don't quite know when the meeting will begin." delilah felt a bit peckish as well. dahlia looked back at the flowers, they stood out amongst the destruction of the building.

[]Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|dining pavilion/walking to cabins|tags:Aiden, Wilhelm

Jamie frowned at the thought of Chiron not taking something well. The centaur always seemed so balanced and put together, this had to be something big to throw him off, though he figured it would be more concerning if he wasn’t worried about everything going on. His attention was brought back from his thoughts with an elbow in the side and he shook his head. “Uh...no, I procrastinated a bit on that. I was kinda still hoping I’d wake up and find it’s sunny and this whole thing has been one big nightmare but...I guess I’m out of luck.”

The thought of a muffin tempted him as he hadn’t really eaten much of his breakfast before abandoning it in favour of the Athena table, but he wasn’t sure he could eat anything now. His stomach felt like it had been tied in a knot and he wasn’t sure forcing something down was the best idea. He waited somewhat awkwardly as Will pulled the younger camper into a hug, trying not to intrude on their moment with some difficulty considering he was standing right next to them.

The son of Hephaestus’ words triggered yet another spark of fear in his chest. This quest was starting to seem more and more real much more rapidly than he would’ve liked. He felt like he was on the drop of a rollercoaster, but instead of slowing down and levelling out, it just kept getting faster, descending down until he couldn’t see where he was going anymore, succumbing to the unrelenting panic of a free fall.

He knew he should iris message his dad before he left—he hadn’t even told him about the quest yet and he wasn’t sure how he was going to take it. Jamie’s father was just as paranoid as he was, and probably wouldn’t be too keen on the idea of his son leaving the safety of camp to fight monsters and goddesses, but he’d have to face it eventually. He couldn’t go without saying goodbye, especially given his growing suspicion they might not...he shook the thought away. They were all going to make it back alive and safe. He had to believe that because if he let the other thought in, he wouldn’t be able to move.

Jamie waved in farewell to Will before following Aiden out of the dining pavilion, falling into step beside the head counsellor as they headed towards the cabins. “What does one even bring on a quest? I know you need weapons and stuff but...are we just gonna run up to an angry snow goddess with a bunch of swords and shields and demand she stops making it snow?” The idea made him shiver, but at least he could blame that on the cold. “Call me a pessimist but something tell’s me Khione’s not gonna take to well to a bunch of demigods intruding on her winter festivities.”

"lucky guess, i suppose," he said, knowing full well that it had not been lucky. the spirit had been kind enough to wave in the direction of both of the girls when they gave the names, providing a decent stance. "shouldn't even be early for me," he said. what time was it at home? is it home?
no, not quite, but the general idea of it. the first base. half eight in the morning, that would have made it half past one. he hadn't even noticed the jet lag when he arrived - had just been thankful for a bed to sleep on.

"we could, yeah," he nodded, but there was a feeling of uneasiness settling in his chest. something intrinsic that was pulling his eyes away from the direction of the mess hall, into the snowy horizon, the white-dusted trees. "i'm... i'm not too hungry." he said, voice a little far away.
there - a figure. one that directly emulated the ones that mulled around what had been the big house. drifting around the trunks. a feeling of desperation, confusion. "i need to check something. you can - you can go to the mess hall if you'd like. i don't know. i just - i think i need to -" teilo didn't finish the sentence, just trailed off as he felt his feet begin trudging in the general direction. away, magnetised to the aura of disquiet.

Laika padded away after Zahra followed Chiron to the Hera cabin. Leaping over a cabin table, she landed with a light thud at the edge of the pavilion, in the snow. A spray of ice and snow splattered her paws and shoulder. Wincing, Laika headed for Cabin 8. Turning into her human form, she walked to her office at the back. Glancing at the badges and black and white photographs on the walls, she started going through the papers and notes she'd taken about the previous week's irregular activity. Laika missed the typewriter font and simple directness of telegrams, but this would have to do for now.

She pored over the papers. The magicians were facing attacks in all Nome's, her fellow Romans couldn't be contacted, and she could feel a disturbance in the realms of Death. There was something, much larger than anyone expected, that was menacing the entire world. But Laika was at loss for a plan of attack.

Spiffy hopped onto Laika's desk with the makeshift stairs of boxes, and started munching on a spare carrot lying about. "So, great Spiffy, come to help me with this, have you? Let's see what we can do with this, just don't get orange stains on the papers please." A small orange bit of juice promptly dripped onto Laika's notepad. Smiling slightly, Laika scratched Spiffy on the head and turned back to her work.

All sense of humor left Laika as, suddenly, a pang of death flooded her senses. It was distant, but such a large number of casualties would never pass unnoticed. 37 dead, 50 wounded. Toronto, Canada. They aren't passing through the Underworld, so I'd assume these are magicians. She'd been used to the mainland of Europe being the battleground, the main front, and not Canada. But it dawned on her that the entire world was under attack. Even a peaceful country wasn't left out.

Perhaps this could, no, did, connect with the attack on Chicago just last night. The deaths were rather irregular, to say the least, and Laika started to find a link between the two events. A new player had entered the field. Sure, it was rather reckless and chaos-happy, but it was dangerous nonetheless.
