|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Forest|Tags: Team 1|Team 1|

Mirabelle made her way over to Ophelia, smiling softly to herself. What did I say? Natural leader. Pride warmed her heart to see her cabinmate - not just that, her friend - taking charge so readily. Nodding in agreement, she made her way over to stand by Ophelia. Her weapons were certainly close-range, though the pepper spray disguised as lipstick could cover quite a distance. She noticed Alex chatting with Jamie, and gave both of them a friendly smile and a little wave as she contemplated her team's abilities. Having the Zeus cabin was always a huge bonus; with their control over weather and electricity, they made formidable warriors. Though she hated to admit it, the Ares cabin was also an asset... sure, they were hot-headed and hard to work with, but they were almost unmatched when it came to prowess in battle... as well as impulsive behaviour. That could be an issue, she mentally remarked. Having both Ares and Athena on the team would be invaluable, however. Speaking of Athena... Mirabelle hadn't seen their head counselor at all that evening. Perhaps he's still recovering from his icy excursion, she mused. She'd heard about Aiden and a new camper - Tielo -'s tumble into the frigid lake waters. Her cabinmates loved to gossip, after all, and her ears were pretty much always open. I hope he's okay. Her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden gust of cold wind, making her shiver ever so slightly. She furrowed her brow in concern as she glanced up at the sky. Did it just get darker and cloudier, or is that my imagination?

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Forest|Tags: Team 2|Team 2|

"Yeah, splitting into groups sounds great, ice man," Juliet agreed with a smirk. The thought crossed her mind that it was rather odd that a demigod with that particular set of abilities had arrived recently, given all the craziness with the weather. She simply shrugged it off, however. This kid looks like he's afraid of his own powers, she reckoned, snorting aloud as she amused herself. There's no way he could be the cause of all this. Setting her thoughts back on Capture the Flag, she looked around at the group. A bunch of them were acting like she was in charge. Her gut squirmed with the thought of all of that responsibility, but it was fair to assume, she reckoned. She did talk a lot, after all. "I guess defence should go hang out over by dog boy?" Juliet tilted her head over in Hank's direction, shooting him a smirk. Her heart softened when she saw Izzy clad in her doggy armour; however. Man, dogs sure are cute. A particularly nasty gust of cold wind blew her hair into her face, causing her to sputter as she got some of the long dirty brown strands in her mouth. Geez, almost forgot. Juliet layed the piece of battered armour she'd been carrying on the ground as she slipped a hairtie from her wrist to her hand. She swiftly tied her hair into a low ponytail, trailing down the back of her neck. Much better. Now, she didn't have to worry about it getting in the way.

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Medical Tent|Tags: Aiden, Emerson, Niji|

"Oh no, it's worse than we thought!" Chuck exclaimed when Niji started talking in some language he didn't understand. "He's speaking gibberish!" It was the only feasible explanation in Chuck's mind. He'd never heard Arabic before, or anything even close to it. The only language he'd had actual experience listening to - discounting ancient Greek, of course - was French; his good friend Mirabelle had a tendency to slip into it when she was especially out-of-it. On one of their first quests, she'd been hit pretty hard in the head by some crazy club-wielding monster and had been speaking 'Franglais' for hours - or as Chuck called it, Frenglish.
Something seemed to click in Aiden's mind, but Chuck was still as confused as ever. The satyr glanced between the pink-haired person and the Athena cabin counselor, at a loss for what to do.

Niji blushed.
Sorry. Ramadan passed actually, its from April 12th to May 12th, but I'm so used to it that sometimes I just kinda forget that its not Ramadan and I can eat in daylight hours. To answer your other question, during Ramadan you can't eat or drink anything including water. It's to clear your mind of mortal things and teaches you self discipline, self control, sacrifice, and to remember those who are less fortunate then us."
Niji looked down at their feet and started swinging them in the air.
"Well, I don't exactly have a choice, so I guess I'll stay." Niji said looking at the saltines in Aiden's hand.
Niji looked up at Chuck with a grin.
"You're close Chuck. It's Arabic, but gibberish is a good way to explain it expesially the writing part, but its a lot easier then English. English is weird to write and there's so many phrases. Like 'its raining cats and dogs.' I mean how? Why? Those poor creatures. allah ly! Why would you want something to speak to be about raining animals? That's so odd? And not okay?"
Niji shook his head his frosting colored hair flying as he crossed his arms.
He was right after all it was stupid to neglect his own health expesially after Ramadan.

She nodded to both the boys "Well, then I'll take my leave. Bye Aiden, bye Niji... feel better. she said before dashing out of the tent. She ran as fast as she could back to the forest. "W-What did I-I miss?" she said slightly out of breath to the team she ran into. She fixed her bow and arrows that had gotten a bit mixed up in her running. She probably looked like a bit of a hot mess, she tried to be more presentable by tugging on her red locks to make her pony tighter.

Aydan Tags: Team 2 Location: Forest Team: 2

Ice man? he shriveled up his nose at the nickname. He didn't much care for nicknames but he had an inkling that if he told her that she'd only be more amused and use it more."My name is Aydan." he said with a tone as cold as ice. He decided that he would be more helpful in defense, he trudged over to Hank still annoyed by the use of a nickname for him.

Niji waved. "Bye it was nice to meet you Emmie."
Niji wondered if Aiden and Chuck had ever had Foul meddamas or Shawarma. Man he craved his pa's cooking.
"So who cooks for the meals? How does that work? Is it magic, harpies, Mr. Dionysis?"
Niji asked looked at both Aiden and Chuck.

with the eyes that laid on him came a strong sense of having to impress. how embarrassing would it have been if he hadn't been able to do it? if he had fumbled, blundered, ended up not hiding himself properly - or not being able to reveal himself? neither of those things had happened. it was fine. he was fine, and there was no point concerning himself over the potentials. juliet was speaking to him, and he nodded slowly, not thoroughly enjoying the attention, but reaping it anyway. "it's not quite flight or anything, but..." he pursed his lips in a smile.

then came a girl he did not recognise. her stare on him had been piercing - there had been some judgement passed before what was the 'reveal', but now, she appeared moderately impressed. perhaps not impressed - rather, less contemptuous for his verbal vomit. speaking publicly was a struggle. there were too many words to say, or there weren't enough at all, and that just led to him speaking his stream of consciousness. no-one really wanted to hear that.

when she revealed her power, he nodded slowly. that wasn't so different from his invisibility. maybe they had the same patriarch? it was possible. he wondered what else she had under her belt. all to be revealed, he supposed. "we could go together. if you wanted." teilo said. "we'll both have to stay sort of on the sidelines. i can make myself invisible, but..." he waved at the untouched snow around them. "i think they'll figure out what's going on if they start seeing new footsteps bounding toward their flag."

now split into defense and some form of offense, it appeared that they were getting somewhere. now, it was just a case of waiting for it all to kick off.

orin nodded as laurel explained her reliance on her powers. "of course. big man's given us an absolute litany to choose from. it's like a buffet, but zappier." he smiled. it was difficult to see his cabinmates as his technical siblings, sometimes, until he was confronted with it all. still, it was an advantage.
after that, his attentions were on mirabelle - to whom he made a swooping bowing gesture. "i know. i know it is. it's not often you can get me in front of a book, but he had a way with words." he raised his eyebrows. as she started to reveal her weapon set, his faux-arrogance morphing into excited shock. "oh, get in, mira! you gem! that's great. okay. you've got your little arsenal there. makes me look a bit bad in comparison." he waved his dagger. "but you know what they say. it's not the size of the blade -" he twisted it for effect. "it's how good you are at maiming with it. that's what they say, right?" he pulled a face of mock confusion.

his spiel was interrupted by the sound of blades crashing together, and orin turned to look at ophelia, raising a slow eyebrow. "careful there, lovely. don't be pointing your knives at me. i'm not the enemy yet. you can do that when i'm on the other team, right?" a careful, slow step back. "and... i mean, i'm not even a mixed carrier. you think i can do a lot with this? it's a dagger. sometimes it's a lighter. i could burn the forest down." he paused at the thought, considered it. "oh - sorry. you must be talking about my other weapon. my extensive knowledge. the best weapon, according to some people. very valuable." he winked, stepping back.

they drifted into their teams, and a sharp gust of wind attacked the side of his neck. "oh, that's nasty," he said. "am i bothering pops?" he asked, glancing up at the sky. it looked dire. he tried not to let his expression falter, reveal his concern. he didn't want to give anyone else any reason to worry. he shook his head. "right. who's doing what, then? we need guards for the fake flag, guards for the real, border patrol and communications, and offense. i'm happy to look after the fake flag, make a bit of noise over on da's knuckles." he said, referring to zeus' fist. "probably ask him to turn this blasted wind down, while i'm at it. it's chilly."

Aiden offered the three a grimace before pinching the bridge of his nose. "It's not gibberish-- Niji interjected to answer the question for him. "Thank you." The boy sighed and kept the water coming to the camper. He wasn't about to say anything derogatory about the other camper's religion, but how do you just, forget to eat after your fasting is over? "Look, the point is Ramadan is over now so you should be eating and drinking plenty. The last thing we need is a camp death over neglect." Aiden offered a wave to Emmie as she left, taking her out of his hair completely. With Niji recovering slowly and Emerson out of the tent, Aiden started helping Chuck and the other satyrs set things up. The wind started to pick up, blowing open the front of the tent, where a few unruly snowflakes snuck their way inside. He hoped the weather would let up, if only for their game of Capture the Flag.

Ophelia Rogers | 16 | She/her | Aphrodite/Cabin 10 | Location: Forest | tags: Team 1, Orin

Ophelia really wanted to cut the Zeus camper's ego down to size, but that would have to wait.
"Oh princely overlord," She said, voice dripping with sarcasm. She widened her arms out and fell into half a curtsy, but with the blades, it was more menacing than anything.
A gust of wind blew in, sharp and strong, she shivered a little. Let's get this over with.
"I don't know what they classify it where you live, but I consider bolts of lightning to be projectiles." She cut herself off from digging into him more, her attention drawn back to the task at hand.

"I'll take true guard." She gritted out, stepping aside to gather with those who also chose that position.

She flipped a blade up, letting it click back into a butterfly wing to free her shield arm, gesturing for those who wanted in to huddle with her.

Alex Burns|17|He/him| Aphrodite/Cabin 10| Location: Forest| Tags: Team 1, Jamie | mentions Orin, Ophelia, Mira

"Thanks!" Alex said. He eyed the boy's knife, appreciating the classy details.
Before he could comment on it, his attention was pulled away, back to Orin and the organizers.
Ophelia looked like she was sucking on a lemon to hold in her contempt for Orin, and the sight nearly made him laugh.

"I'll take communications!" He called, raising a hand. He completely ignored the other half of that, and hoped that the others wouldn't notice his selective acceptance. Alex had a good ear for gossip, and there was always some drama going down during the game. Like last year, when he'd learned that Mirabelle had experience battling empousa...and didn't like it.

Meanwhile, on team 2...

Henry "Hank" Walker|17| He/him | Apollo/Cabin 7| Location: Forest |tags: Team 2, Izzy, open | mentions: Juliet, Tielo

Hank blinked in surprise at the vanishing boy. That seems like an odd way for an Apollo kid to vanish, he thought, noting that Tielo didn't seem to be working the light particles to do it.

Hank smiled at the nickname. He didn't mind being known by his dog, as Izzy did deserve credit.
"I only need the stationary shooters, like myself," He gestured toward his heavy armour. "If you're lighter on your feet, feel free to cause some chaos to cover Tielo and Auggie." He added, stepping back a bit to make room for the others to join him.

Hank had a special fondness for capture the flag, something in the grouping up and situating others made him feel like he was back at home, helping his mom guide a game hunt with clients. When he was a child, he'd even wanted to take over the business someday, combining his mom's knowledge of game and trails with his skill for calls and camoflague to get the very best.
He let out a sigh and rubbed Izzy's head with his knuckles. Being a halfblood changed things. Do we even have a future after camp? He winced at the thought, forcibly pulling himself back to reality.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson | 15 | She/her | Unknown (Ares)/Cabin 11| Location: Forest | tags: Team 2, | Mentions Juliet, Hank (Izzy), Sunny (Val's fox)

Aggy couldn't focus, though she tried. All this talk of placement was irritating, she'd rather just get to the action, to the think-on-your-feet part.
Dog boy? she frowned at the comment, but when she looked over, there was indeed a hound dog of some sort, clad in leather armour. This place is mad weird, she thought, alarmed by the idea of using another creature to fight for you.
Do they have dog ambrosia? she wondered, but her attention was drawn to a fox, this time clad in metallic armour. Okay, they're all just weird. I hope the other team doesn't have any that get in the way, can't imagine hurting a critter.

She perked up at the boy, Hank's, mention of lighter footed soldiers, grinning. Aggy was very ready to water her cutlass... er, Capture the Flag.

Niji nodded knowing he should've ate plenty, but he had been so excited with coming to camp that he hadn't ate anything to enusre that he wouldn't be the camper that puked on the first day.

Niji hiccuped and took the cup of water. "Thank you." He drank some holding it in its mouth for a few minutes to get rid of them. He started playing with his helmet's feather plume and yawned.

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Forest|Tags: Team 1|Team 1|

Mirabelle felt a rush of heat to her face when Orin called her a 'gem' - sure, she was used to getting compliments, but not typically deeper than surface-level ones at that. It's nice to be noticed for something other than my looks for once. She couldn't help but chuckle at her fellow counselor's roguish charm and silly antics. It was true; she hadn't seen him reading around camp in the past. That being said, she didn't read much in public herself - a good amount of 'egghead' and 'bookworm' comments from an Ares camper a few years back was all it took for her to be more private about her literacy preferences. Most of her cabinmates read nothing more than magazines, and she didn't necessarily want to publicly break the mold on that one.
Ophelia's snarky comments brought her mind back to the present. "Hey guys, can we try being a little more cordial?" she suggested gently. "We're all on the same team here, after all." She glanced between Orin and Ophelia, hoping to have dissuaded some of the tension. "I'll go on the offensive," she offered. It was what she did best, after all. As Orin had said - having weapons was good and all, but knowing how to use them was key. Those who had faced her in battle before knew just how formidable of a warrior she could be.
When Emerson approached the team and asked what she'd missed, Mirabelle shot her a welcoming smile. "We're discussing strategies and splitting into groups," she informed her.

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Forest|Tags: Team 2|Team 2|

Juliet nodded in accordance with Tielo and Auggie's plans. "Sounds good to me." Her eyes lit up when Hank mentioned chaos - one of her all-time favourite words. "Chaos? Oh, I can do chaos." A toothy smirk tugged at her lips. A big part of her prank would certainly incite chaos, after all. The daughter of Hermes cast a glance around at their assembled group. "We might actually have a chance to win this thing," she remarked, smiling. The armour-clad fox drew her attention, the golden metal sparkling against the snow. Juliet still wondered how an animal could possibly move covered in all that metal plating. Izzy's leather armour looked a lot more comfortable, as well as easier to move in. Right. Head in the game, Jules. She tapped her fingers against her thigh, shifting on her feet with anticipation. "So, are we ready to go? I kinda wanna start moving before we all turn into demigodsicles."

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Medical Tent|Tags: Aiden, Emerson, Niji|

"Oh - uh, right, Arabic," Chuck laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck. "I like, totally knew that." A sheepish blush had crept up on his freckled face. Whatever this Ramadan holiday was, it sounded like it involved fasting. The non food-related elements sounded pretty interesting, but Chuck couldn't help but shudder at the thought of going without food for even one whole day. Oh, the horror! He was certainly glad that the only religion he was associated with was Greek paganism, if you could even call it that. Man, the Greeks sure know how to throw a feast, though. Just looking at the new kid - Niji, he thought he'd heard Emmie say? - with his frosting-coloured hair made Chuck hungry again. He couldn't help but laugh aloud as Niji asked who made the food. "Mr. D? Cook!?" The satyr looked incredulous. "Like, I don't think I've seen him eat anything but junk food in like, the past decade. Nah, man, the dryads do most of the cooking and stuff. Pretty neat, if you ask me."
When Aiden brought up death by neglect, Chuck shuddered. In all his years, he hadn't seen anyone die from starvation or dehydration at camp. Sure, he'd been worried about Mira a few times in that department; she had a tendency to just skip meals whenever she was stressed out. But death by neglect? That would be a new one.

plans were coming into order. the thought of creating chaos made teilo nod slowly. it was the best option - a diversion of their expectations. "shouldn't be too obvious, though," he pointed out. "or they might anticipate the ambush. it has to look real." he rubbed the back of his head, unused to conversing with the other campers. his eyes wandered towards izzy, and he, inadvertently, smiled at the sight of such an innocent looking creature - once he realised the deadpan mask had cracked, however, he returned it to its natural order, paying rapt attention to the others.

juliet took on the role of chaos-making, and it seemed like things were coming together. it was quite enjoyable, in a way. it did feel like a game rather than a dangerous thing, and he had to reel himself back. there was no need to be hasty. people had died in this forest. with the thought came the brush of harsh wind, as though something had heard him think about them. a ridiculous notion. there were no ghosts inside the camp. they couldn't get in. he knew that very well.

"i'm ready to go if we all are." he confirmed, looking over at the other conversing team. "who's hiding the flag?"

orin was not surprised to hear the contemptuous words, dripping in venom, directed at him. it was all part and parcel of his personality - something that he had learned a long time ago. people either loved him with all of their hearts or hated him to the pits of their being. he had moved beyond rising to the occasions, brushing them off like they were nothing. in all reality, he would have rather been seen as cocky and arrogant due to his personality rather than his father - he did not want to boast and peacock regarding that. he had long since moved past any feelings of superiority held over campers.
which was why, when ophelia mentioned the bolts of lightning, denoted him as a 'princely overlord', his expression faltered. just for a moment - a brief, tiny second, but faltered nonetheless. it threw him for a bit of a loop, but within seconds, he was back on the horse. "where i live? i live all over the place. i'm a man in very high demand. just this last summer i was in cork visiting my gran. lovely woman. hell of a mouth on her. irish to the bone." he smiled, turned to alex. "okay. that's great. beautiful. just - watch for where they're going. if they're advancing the fake flag or the real flag, run ahead and let us know, yeah?"

mira piped up a little, asking for the calming of tensions. "i don't see any problems here. just getting into the fighting spirit," he said, not quite undercutting her comment, but rather intending to reassure that it wasn't serious, it wasn't bad enough to cloud his gaze. "all on the winning team. that's an accomplishment of itself." she organised herself into her own spot, and emerson approached. "emmie!" he cheered. "our final puzzle piece! could you possibly take border patrol? stop anyone jumping over the creek with our gear?" it seemed they were mostly settled.

"right. are we good to go, then?"
