That does sound like a neat compromise if it is possible to add. I can see how off-Oekaki posts might not get as much attention since their thumbnails aren't visible like Oekaki pieces. And I apologize if I sounded like I was disagreeing; my main point was to re-state why the cover rule exists in the first place. Thanks for the suggestion, ford!

As the big red lock seems to be an issue for many users, it's definitely worth re-evaluating. I can't make any promises but I poked Nick about it.

thank you for the consideration, seasonal. i appreciate it <3
hopefully we can come to a compromise that makes both sides happy and less stressed.

However, I was thinking maybe just a small preview of the first post of the thread itself in a little window - if it would work for you guys. It wouldn't work well for mobile, unfortunately, because what I'm thinking would be activated by a mouse hovering over a thread link. Would that be reasonable? It'd be a bit like what Windows 10 has when you hover over the taskbar.

(Wonky format because that was a long post)
If approved and implemented, would that suggestion be acceptable?

No worries about formatting and sorry for not responding, there's a lot of posts and I keep trying to filter through everything LOL

I think it'd be alright. It depends, though. Would it show the text or image though, i'm a lil bit confused? Sometimes peoples put rules and stuff for design shops/ect. And maybe as just a side thing, maybe people should be able to turn it on and/or off? Kind of like how sigs can be altered to be shown or not shown.

I get that desmond. But I do like the suggestion of allowing a thumbnail for people to see the art in non oekaki boards.
It mostly sucks the way it is now because we are not getting a visual representation for a very visual medium.

I would like to see other's perspective on that

hello!! i do have a little bit of a question!!
this question is not with malicious intent or to be rude!! ;;v;;
but trying to clear things up, was the rule made in 2015? or was it made even before 2014, and was just fully noticed as 2015?
and assuming it was addressed in 2015 to cover the rule and how a lot of off-oekaki art was being posted, i'm not sure how much off-oekaki art is being posted nowadays. a lot, if i had to guess?

once again thank you to the mods for responding to us. it feels nice to be actually talked to, instead of overshadowed.

I was always under the impression that it was a rule, heh.

Oh hm. I'm a little bit confused, then. Maybe it was just starting to be really truly enforced in 2015? I'm not 100% sure since I wasn't around in those times, though.

@Seasonal

Regarding art theft, it’s no different if it’s on the art fourm. There’s an equal amount of concern when it comes to art theft, as people could still share stolen art on the art forums. If it’s such a huge concern, there could be a verification process? In fact, the huge red lock would be perfect for art theft lol. And if someone posts stolen art on the theoretical off-oekaki board, make it a ban-able offense! That would definitely make people not want to do it, and it’s different then accidentally using stolen art on a rp character fourm, as the person is deliberately choosing to post something that isn’t theirs.

      i think this is somewhat on the right track of thinking, thank you desmond! it'd be lovely to see a prototype eventually. i'd also like to ask if you've browsed the suggestion thread that the creator of this one has made? many users are coming up with some great ideas that i think could help improve on your idea even further <3 thank you for taking the time to be patient with us and listen to our whining!

@seasonal Thank you so much for your consideration! We all really appreciate y'alls efforts to actually listen to the userbase and address our concerns. I know its hard to get to everyone, but its so awesome that you're passing that on ^^

Hiya! Thanks so much for your efforts, I know this thread is probably super overwhelming and you can't get to everyone ;w; I do however have a question about this? There isn't really any way to not be defensive or offensive on this. Everyone on this thread is simply doing their best to convey in the most detail that they can the issues with this subject and why it makes them unhappy or frustrated. It is only natural for people to feel frustrated about this, but considering the weight of this heavy topic, I think most people here have been very civil and made some valid points that are being ignored or skipped over because they are "offensive" or "too defensive." No one is trying to come across that way, we are all just simply trying to explain the situation best we can and many of us, myself included, have questions that we'd like answered so things can be clarified.

Also, I would like to thank you for that suggestion! That does sound like something that could work and create a sort of compromise for off-oekaki artists. It would definitely be a welcome improvement c:

EDIT;
also i believe this post from earlier wasn't ever responded to, but I'm blind so I could have missed something, haha. I definitely think there should be some sort of explanation for this, it would be much appreciated!

Being reasonable and willing to listen without being demanding, petty, or rude is really all I ask when I say that. ^^; Slinging mud and being angry without being willing to be civil just won't work with me.
There's been a lot of civil, reasonable posts on here, that's just as a note for anyone just coming in, riled and upset and wanting a battle.

And just as a prime example, that. I'm not going to publicly chastise anyone, mod or otherwise. End of.
