If the definition of spam really is the "clear focus that the thread is the completed character, not the drawing in the cover", then by your own definition, some pieces of art being locked don't deserve it. Like... As an example, my own c4c cover from a few days ago was locked, when the "cover" took me three hours to draw, and the art under it from clip took literally 15 minutes. I thought it was pretty clear just by looking at it that it was meant to be it's own standalone art separate from the clip studio art, and that it wasn't just a throwaway lazy cover. (AKA clean lineart, shading, and coloring in the lines. Which the alleged "main focus of the oekaki post" was missing.)
And in the case that EVERY piece of oekaki art on chickensmoothie with other art under it is considered spam, then why not enforce it like that...? As other people have brought up, things like egg adopts and closed-species adopts that are finished off-site have existed for years. For example (and I hope there's no issue with me posting these. I don't post on forums often so I'm not really familiar with etiquette when posting examples), Kalon 1600, posted in July 2019. The full body art for the kalon adopt posted under the cover was not completed in Chickenpaint, and was just posted under a cover. You can tell this by looking at the image-- the resolution of the actual adopt's image is too tall to have been fully completed on chickenpaint (600 x 400, and 600 x 440 respectively.) It has 14 pages of replies, and was open for over a month between October and November. Surely a mod must have seen it in that window of time? And if they did, they never considered it spam (because it's clearly not lol)
The main issue users are having with this wave of locked posts isn't that posts are being locked at all, it's the inconsistency of it. I think locking threads is very useful in some instances, like if something is the actual definition of spam (nothing but a blank canvas with words), then go ahead and lock it. But if there are pieces of oekaki art that so happen to have writing on them, how are they considered spam? And if it's true that every piece of oekaki art with more art embedded below is spam, then why are you not treating every board/piece of art equally? Or if you are, why are you only doing it now, after at least a year of allegedly not seeing it as a real issue?
Also... hi. I didn't think my art of a demon priest would have caused such a big fuss. How are y'all doing this evening.
