That smell... Fawnflurry instinctively pushed Coalcreek back, Silverpetal motioning for the apprentices to get behind him. Eggdapple's folded ears perked slightly, her eyes round with fright. Unfamiliar scents meant one thing in this city.

Still... six of them versus one creature. Eliminating even just one made the city safer. In unspoken agreement, Silverpetal took charge, leading the patrol forward while Fawnflurry whispered battle wisdom to Foxpaw and Pinepaw.

From around the bend, a large 6 limbed creature appeared, making an unintelligible noise. It's angry. It lunged for the cats, giving Foxpaw and Silverpetal an Injury!

That was a disaster. The creature fled, leaving Silverpetal scratched up and Foxpaw gravely injured... again. These things really had a vendetta against her, didn't they?

Eggdapple leapt into action. Ordering Coalcreek to keep his apprentice away from the grisly scene, she carefully prodded at the wounds. It looked bad. Foxpaw whimpered under her touch, holding back screams. "We need to get her back to camp. Fawnflurry, Silverpetal, move her carefully. Walk slowly and I'll tend to her while we go." Her cheery voice had become pointed and harsh as she barked directions, wasting no time in such a dire situation. "Coalcreek, keep Pinepaw distracted. Hunt. Forage. She doesn't need to see this."

Foxstar, without thinking, went and eat the shrew that he had just caught. He scanned around. Well, whatever. A bird swooped in front of him. He crouched, but it was like a tease. The bird stepped back just as he pounced, and just as he swiped at it to get at the bird, it flew away.
“Mouse brain.” He said under his breath, to just himself, “more like birdbrain. Though birds are smart.” He sat up, getting his posture back. He grumbled his way back to the lake. There was a glint in it. What was that? A fish, perhaps? The leader put out his paw into the water. Something bit him. “Ow!” Growled Foxstar, looking angry. What was that? He flicked his tail, and turned away from the lake. Stomping off, Foxstar found himself traveling in the direction of the twoleg nests. Though he didn’t really notice this fact himself.

Despite being a lonesome leader of a clan of none, Arnicastar knew they needed to go on patrols. It was lonely, and dangerous, but they had to feed themself somehow. They crawled from their temporary den under a jagged marble rock and blinked as the afternoon sunlight hit their face. It was a warm, calm day. Waves lapped lazily at the shore down the hill from them. The smell of salt hit Arnicastar's scent glands and with it, a craving for fish.

They padded down the hill, jumping over rocks and sliding under small flower bushes. The sun was still in front of them, luckily. The fish that darted around the shallow waters wouldn't be scared away by the cat's shadow. As the cool water touched Arnicastar's paws, they sighed. Sure, they were a cat, but they had grown up around water and it had always felt good on their fur. They stood in the shallows, paws cool in the water, pelt warm in the sun. One day they would share this with a loyal clan of their own. The thought warmed their heart and soul.
