I see that lovely horse got some attention already. O.o

Um, looking back I noticed that I accidentally moved the knee spot to the other knee. I didn't mean to, it was purely accidental, so if anyone else draws her sometimes perhaps you could change it back into the original knee and respect the original design?^^'.

Oh wow, Spotty, that revamp is absolutely gorgeous. <333
[I'm very happy to see some forms for her. ^^]

[And I like the idea of adding more Common kennels. :3
New donations = more people visiting the thread = better chance of the older ones getting adopted as well?]

When updating a adoption form would you prefer me to edit the old one or make a new one?

{ ! Why Do You Want This Animal & What Will You Do For It ! }
When I first found out about Pound of Hope, when it was just starting out, I remember seeing this character, and immediately wanting to go for her. I loved her design, her coloration was so unique, and she looked rather lovely. I love the mix of various shades of green, her pale straw colored mane, and her black and white markings. They all just look so good together and flow seamlessly with each other. Appaloosa patterns are some of my favorite markings, and this character pulls them off so well. Also, I've always found horse anthros to be so unique, something you don't see as often. With horses being my absolute favorite animals, I think it's about time I try for an anthro one, as all my horse characters are strictly quad, and anthros are just so much fun to write about and draw.

The only problem was, I had no idea of what I would use her for. I thought for a while, but nothing came up. I was totally lost as to how I should begin to sculpt her character or create her personality, history, likes, dislikes, etc. The only thing I knew was that she was quite beautiful, but that's not the only thing you can base going for a character from. Since seeing her, I considered going for her several times actually, always debating whether or not I should go for her or not. Still, I could not bring myself to come up with anything reasonable for such a gorgeous character, and time was not always on my side either. Then, it struck me. I realized that my fully anthro story line was severely lacking in species other than canines. I thought it would be nice to get some variety in there, change things up a little bit. Then my mind wandered back to this girl, and I thought she would be great as in of the agents in my plot. She looks a bit dark, as if she could kill, but still retain a kind and upbeat nature at the same time. I couldn't hold off on making a form for her any longer, now that I have an idea of what I would use her for, and what she would be like personality wise.

I would definitely make sure she was loved, and not left to get all dusty. She would most definitely get a spot on my character site, and I would definitely write stories about her. Considering she in the handler of one of the most vital members of her team, she will have a rather significant role in the story. That means that most likely she will star in some short stories, and make several appearances. I'd also like to try an RP a bit with her, perhaps in a 1 x 1 RP. I love to draw anthros, and drawing anthro horses is something that I think I've only tried once. I think drawing her would be a fun challenge, and could help me improve with my anatomy. Anthros are lots of fun to draw, and you can count on me to create pictures and drawings of her in my free time. I'd also be sure order art of her when I can, in her anthro form of course. She's quite a beautiful character, and I'd love to be able to call her mine. (:

{ ! Personality ! }

> Graceful & Nimble <
One could say that she has the grace of a gazelle, her movements swift and smooth. She's also nimble and agile on her feet, and the same goes for flying. There's also this air of grace in the way she talks, something just sounds so elegant and charm in her voice. She's quite charming herself, despite almost always feeling lonely and empty. She's great with words and is rather lovely company, others just don't take the time to get past first impressions.
> Quick-witted & Intelligent <
She's rather intelligent, probably the smartest one on her team. She's a fast thinker as well, and can pretty much work well in pressuring situations that require quick thinking. She's quite good at coming up with solutions in an instant and is considered a valuable member on the team. Despite being a high school drop out, she did extremely well in her classes, and her whole team would probably be completely lost without her. She's the main plan maker, as well as the tracker who initially hunts down the criminals.
> Cryptic & Dark <
One thing about Aurélie, she tends to be a total enigma at times. She doesn't even know why she acts so cryptic and mysterious, it's just something that happens. She just tends to wander off from others and stays away from the crowds as best she can. She rarely talks to anyone when she's in such a state, and will not share anything about her whereabouts. Some may think that she's hiding something, but for Aurélie it's mostly just a weird feeling, like she feels like that she absolutely cannot talk to anyone at all.
> Guiltless & Merciless <
She will show no mercy, ever. If she was sent on a mission to kill, she will perform what she was sent to do to the best of her abilities. Her outside appearance is somewhat misleading, showing her as someone without the guts to kill, but completely the opposite is true. She never gives exceptions at all, she's far too rigid for that. Some see her as harsh, but to her, it's all a part of the job. Why take on a profession as an assassin of sorts, if she's too soft to do it well? She never really feels guilt when she must kill someone else either, because quite frankly, she thinks they deserved it.
> Affectionate & Kind <
Despite her merciless outlook on things, in actuality she is rather affectionate and kind. She is especially this way toward Vasu, who is like a child to her. She's nice to everyone she meets and has a hard time saying no, unless she was sent to kill. Her merciless nature only occurs when she must kill someone, so most of the time she is actually a total pushover. She has somewhat of a motherly nature, liking to care for others in need. Noche tries to steer her away from this kind of behavior though, and as of late she has been slightly more harsh, but not by much.
> Lonely & Misunderstood <
Poor Miss Aurélie seems to be severely misunderstood by the dominantly canine society of her time. Horses are a rare sight, and they are usually seen as strange creatures, especially ones with wings. Even though she is sweet as can be, only really her team knows her for who she truly is, not on her first appearances. Sometimes she is just plain avoided, other times ignored. Due to this, Aurélie usually feels rather lonely, like she has no one left to care for her anymore.
> Strange & Uncanny <
Her habits differ greatly from the canines, for instance, she is a vegetarian. She cannot stand eating meat, and her species was meant to be vegetarian in the fist place. Also, she likes to fly, something that most canines cannot due. She is usually an uncanny sight when she's out with her friends, always the odd one out. She's learned just to deal with the strange looks, although she doesn't particularly enjoy them. She even considers her own self a bit strange, not completely belonging anywhere.
> Optimistic & Upbeat <
Her optimistic outer shell is just a mask that she hides behind. She may seem chipper and happy go lucky on the outside, but more often that not she will actually be feeling miserable and alone. She hides her feelings away from her teammates as well, not wanting to reveal herself as overly emotional and weak. Usually she will act to stay on the happy side of things, but it takes someone who truly cares about her to see what she is really going through. She may confess a few things to Vasu, as he doesn't judge her and cannot tell anyone, but even then she doesn't open up often.

{ ! Likes ! }
Vasu;
Vasu is her ever faithful tracker dog companion, who sticks to her like glue. He's rather affectionate, and Aurélie spoils Vasu like he were her own child. She would be devastated if she ever lost Vasu, and takes great caution with him when they go on missions. She could never forgive herself if she were to be responsible for his death, or even if he got injured, no matter how severe.
Rainwater;
Something about the feel of rainwater soothes her, like it washes away all of her pain and loneliness. Like a child, she always wants to go and run out into the streets when it rains, and most of the time she actually does. She always seems to brighten up when it's raining outside and usually feels happier as well.
Feathers;
She has some sort of strange affinity with feathers, possibly due to the fact that she has a beautiful set of feathered wings, and the ability of flight. She loves the soft touch of a feather and all the beautiful colors and patterns that then come in. She has a thing for green colored feathers in particular.
Her Job;
Despite the occasional assassin mission, Aurélie quite likes her job. She enjoys working with Vasu and her team, and finds her job a bit exciting to say the least. She thinks it is also kind of a way to prove herself to be just as valuable a team member as the others, since so far every other team member is male. She likes to come up with elaborate plans and the like, and tracking gives her such a rush, like the thrill of a chase.
Calixto, Noche, and the rest of her team;
Her team is like family to her. She never really had any family, so they are the closest she's got. They are quite close, and work extremely well together. Calixto and Noche are like the older brothers she never had, and they tease her all the time. She loves Vasu with all her heart, and she coddles him like a spoiled child, much to Noche's distaste.
Hats, especially ones with feathers;
She loves hats, no matter what kind. She will usually be seen wearing a hat, and she will never go on a mission with out her lucky hat named "Rupert". She loves hats with feathers the most, mostly because of her love for feathers as well. Whether they be winter hats, beanies, sun hats, or fedoras, she loves them all. She has a vast hat collection stashed away in her apartment, which she takes the up most care of.

{ ! Dislikes ! }
Fatigue;
She hates being tired, because it makes her feel useless, and she hates feeling like that. It just makes her even more depressed than she already is. Without energy, she doesn't have the will to do anything at all, or to even make the effort to report for work. Due to this she must have coffee in the morning, and various sugary snacks during the day to keep her going.
Feeling Alone;
The feeling that takes over her mind is the one that she absolutely hates the most, unfortunately. She doesn;t like to be alone, and often sleeps over at either Noche or Calixto's apartments just because she can't stand to be alone at night. Due to how she is viewed by society, she doesn't have many opportunities to make friends, or to have anyone to care about. She hopes one day the meet that special someone, although she knows that her chances of meeting them is super slim.
Blood & Gore;
She is generally not the one to kill any of the criminals they track, she's just the one who hunts them down and alerts the rest of the team. She's also the one who devises the plans, but it's not often that she is assigned to kill. Due to this, she rarely ever sees gory sights, and they make her feel rather uneasy. She's not used to seeing bloody images either, unlike Noche who doesn't even bat an eye at a dead body.
Losing Friends/Close Ones;
Due to her constant loneliness, Aurélie is very clingy, and if she manages to lose someone close to her, she will go into deep depression for a few months. If she ever lost Vasu though, she wouldn't know what she would do. She's awfully attached to all of her friends, and dreads it when she gets into fights with them. They seem to understand her clingy nature though, and understand their importance to her.
Gloomy Days;
Whenever it is gloomy outside, it just ruins her day completely. The only way that a cloudy day wouldn't bring down her spirits is when it's raining, but that is the only exception. The grey gloominess just reminds her of her issues and loneliness, and brings back the pain of her past. On dull and sad days, she is usually much sadder than she usually is on the outside, and will not be up for doing much that day.
Spiders;
Hands down, the thing that she fears the most are spiders. She thinks that they look absolutely revolting and she be exterminated from existence. She cannot ever go near a spider, and she cannot even look at a picture of one. Whenever she sees a spider she will scream until someone kills it, not having the guts to kill it herself. Mostly for the reason that she thinks it will jump at her and attack her. She will not feel better until the spider is killed either.

{ ! History/Background ! }

; Ce n'est qu'une larme. Juste un reste du passé ;

The raindrops fell from an awfully dull, greyscale sky, overtaken by gloomy clouds. I sat on a small wooden bench, getting soaked by the rainwater. The coolness of the rain splashed across my skin, the feeling was amazing. The rain shower had me drenched, but I didn't much care. It felt like all my pain and problems were being washed away, like a weight being lifted off of my narrow shoulders. Why couldn't it just rain everyday? I tilted my head back, my freckled face to the sky. Beams of weak sunlight poked out of the clouds, slightly illuminating my features. A smile crept upon my face, that was, until I heard the gunshot. I scared look immediately replace the smile on my face. Instead of running like anyone sensible would do, I ran towards where I heard the gunshot, to investigate on what had just happened. I stumbled into a dirty alleyway, gasping as I saw blood flowing in the trickling rainwater. I shuttered, blood never meant anything good. I came upon a dead body, it's features twisted in a grotesque way. I looked away, not wanting to see such an unpleasant sight. I could feel tears trickle down my face, hidden by the rain. I may not have known that person, but it looked like an absolutely horrible way to die. Suddenly, a pair of hands grabbed me by the mouth from behind, while another pulled me back by the waist. I tried to scream as I realized what was happening to me, but they had already tied my mouth shut before I had the chance to scream.

; Dont je m'éloigne. Mais qui ne cesse de me hanter ;

I was stuffed into the backseat of a musty, old car, and the door was slammed in my face. Surprisingly, I wasn't blindfolded, but it was killing me to have my muzzle, wings, and hands restricted. One of the beings who grabbed me, a male wolf with a dual colored mohawk it seemed, took the driver's seat and sped off. I chewed at the black bandanna stuffed into my mouth, but just ended up gagging every time. A black and yellow spider suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and you could just hear my muffled scream. I inched away from it as far as I could, all the way on the other side of the car. I kept a keen, pale green eye on it, making sure it didn't try to approach me. Strands of my blonde mane fell messily into my face as I tried to keep myself composed in this rather adverse situation. I could hear the lowered voices of the two men in the front seat, perhaps they were plotting my death? "Should we kill her, or let her go?" I was about to get all frantic again, they were seriously considering trying to kill me. "No, she much too pretty to die, but she's seen too much already. We will have to train her to become a Red Spade." If I could have sighed out of relief, I would have, if my mouth wasn't tied shut. Only, what was this Red Spade business all about?

; Ce n'est qu'une lame. Qui entaille mes pensées ;

I looked up as the two men shoved me out of the car, and started dragging my toward this creepy looking warehouse type building. What if it was infested to the ceiling with spiders? I lunged forward as they tired to pull me back, attempting to break my wings free.
There was an obvious irritated look on the black and white male's face, his grey colored eyes narrowed. I squirmed as the led me towards the imposing building, desperate to break loose. I felt their grips tighten around my arms as the roughly pushed me forward. My pale green eyes widened as we entered the warehouse, there was technology everywhere! Huge screens and computers wherever you looked, and all these blinking and beeping contraptions. Well groomed wolves, and the occasional cat or horse talking on bluetooth devices, hastily typing away as they talked. This was most certainly not what I was expecting. We took an abrupt turn though, into a pitch black hallway. I could just barely make out dingy looking doors, the completely amazing sight whisked away from me. I was driven into the last door on the left, and quickly tied to a chair. I jumped in my seat, not wanting to be in this rather creepy room. Suddenly, I heard a deep voice, much like the wolf with the mohawk's voice.

; Un état une raison. Que de simples pensées ;

"Girl, quit fidgeting and let us explain! We're not trying to hurt you Missy, we just want to explain a few things to you. So stop yer squirming and listen up! "

I sat stock-still, looking up at him with wide eyes. I was actually quite fearful of them, who knows what they could do to me? I nervously ran my fingers though my bleach blonde hair, and put an attentive, but slightly scared look on my freckled face. The wolf with the mohawk nodded with approval and the other, more scary looking wolf addressed me.

"Okay, so you're probably wondering what in the hell you're doing here, correct?" A coy smile appeared on his face, his razor sharp canines being revealed. I gulped, and nodded softly.

"Well, Miss...I don't believe ever caught your name, care to tell me? I'll introduce my partner and I. I'm Noche." He bowed, for some reason beyond me. He then gestured toward his partner, and the mohawked wolf proceeded in pointing one of this thumbs to his chest. "The name's Calixto." He smiled as well, but his smile was more genuine than Noche's. "And your name miss?"

"Um, Aurélie, monsieur Noche." He chuckled a bit, and then nudged his friend Calixto with his elbow.

"Looks like we got ourselves another foreigner. Miss Aurélie, do you speak English as well?"

"Oh, sorry! Yes, I do speak English. I was not aware you didn't speak French."

"It's alright Frenchie, now that we've got all that boring formal stuff out of the way, now we can start talking business."

; J'aimerais tellement te dire que je n'ai plus peur. Mais ces mots sonnent faux ;

I stumbled out of the dark room into the even darker hallway, with a distraught look on my face. I was to report for training first thing next morning, I wasn't permitted to go home ever again, and I would be assigned a tracker dog, whatever those things were, as my work partner and companion. They said I would be a perfect tracker for their team, with my smarts and ability to fly; I was quite fast too. Calixto and Noche had dismissed me, explaining everything I would need to know to become a Red Spade, as if I had a choice in the matter. I wasn't afraid anymore, and certainly not confused anymore. I just felt this strange feeling inside me, something that I couldn't really explain if I tried. Noche and Calixto appeared behind me, guiding me to the bedroom that I would be staying at for pretty much the rest of the night. As they left, and I curled up in my bed, I gave my lucky hat Rupert a good pat, and gently closed my eyes. it came to me then, that feeling I was feeling in the hallway. It was respect. It was such a wonderful feeling too! Never in my life had I been respected, for being too different and freakish for the society's standards. Those two wolves treated me like a lady, and talked with the up most respect towards me. They didn't look down on me for my species, or my birthplace. Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad after all, and maybe I'd like being a Red Spade. Well, only time can tell. With that thought, I sighed softly, and drifted off into sleep.

; Seul le temps pourra m'aider, mais quand tu t'éloignes. J'ai finalement envie de te voir rester ;

{ ! Art ! }
Normally I would draw some art, but I'm afraid I just don't have the time this round :c I would most definitely draw her if I do get her though <3

{ ! Theme Song ! }
"J'ai peur de cette flamme
Qui avant toi m’a brûlée
Tes yeux me désarment
Je n'ose plus les affronter
Mes rêves se fanent
Seul le temps pourra m'aider
Mais quand tu t'éloignes
J'ai finalement envie de te voir rester."

J'aimerais Tellement - Jena Lee

{ ! Other ! }
The Characters Mentioned;
Calixto, Noche, Vasu.

Picture:
Image
Kennel number: p 37
Name: Light walker
Breed: Lion
Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?: He is so cool an would make a good story lion. I love to write stories and his could be very good.
Personality: Oh he is cold for he is the northern wind. His roar shakes mountains he chills you to the bone.
Likes: Snow, Ice and the far north. He loves to kill off the flowers the western wind brings.
Dislikes: Warmth and the other winds.
History/Background: He is the light walker the northern wind. He always has been and always will be. He is cold and tired and his eyes shine with the devils dream. It is said that he brings desiese and bad will where ever he goes. His story is a sad one though and thus it should be to create one so cold. Here is his story and oh woe is he who next crosses his path and knows his tale.

Light Walker was a son of the great cat she bore the kits of the lipeon nation and bore the wind. It said that he was the last kit she ever bore. He she could tell from the beggining was evil. So she foresoke him thrust him away from her at a very young age. She new his future but she didnt know she was the one who caused it. Light Walker had loved his mother a great deal he loved her more then he ever loved anyone he would do anything for her. So he stayed near her always watching. Soon he became bitter though and left the lands of son adn in his grief ran to the north. He cried the cold river of tears on his way which still flows. As he ran though the chill north got to him and anouther more sinister force. She was the winter queen. She was as evil as anyone came and she saw this young lion as her prey.

She was ready to attack him and kill him to gain more power. She didnt know he was a child of the great cat no mere lion. She tried to slay him and a bloody battle occured but Light Walker wouldnt back down. She began to die and as she did the northern wind leaked from her and went into the lions open mouth. His body convulsed and he got the power of the northern winds. He felt power like no other. Enough even to face the great cat his mother so he thought.

He a few years later made his move against his mother he attacked her late at night with the spirit of the wild north. She retaliated and in the end banished her youngest son. She gave him a curse before he left the northern wind would always howl with her agony so he would always hear her remorse. He grew more and more raged but never again moved against his mother. Bitter though he stands in the far north forever plotting his revenge.

I'm not sure if anyone saw when I posted a form for P17, that I'd like to withdraw my form for Ivy, please. I just don't feel like I could own her, and I'm scared I'll just let her waste away andgather dust.

The Demoness Incarnate

Postby Pandora Gaskarth » Sat May 21, 2011 10:45 pm

Ooh the pet I was going to adopt last round has been revamped. Even more preetty now ^^ Also, ID LIKE TO WITHDRAW MY FORM FOR F19. Caps so it gets noticed ^^

I am looking to cherish...
Picture:
Image
Original image
Kennel number:

P09
Name:
Adonuda ‘Ada’ (seems more feminine this way but I still like the base of the name ^^)
Adonuda in the Wanderer's language is said to mean 'cursed' and is a variation of the male version Adonudo and Adonu, the female goddess gone demon who had wings and whom Adonuda was named after and said to be an incarnate of.

Breed:
Equine Appaloosa Anthro/Wanderer
Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?:
Adonuda is different to the other donations. She is anthro, for starters (A rare sight in adoption centers), and an anthro horse at that (very rare, the second I’ve seen in my life actually). I have an anthro horse character, the first one I saw actually, called Tikora whom is a species called a Wanderer, an anthro creature who is made up of different species and wanders the earth, sometimes in groups, sometimes not. Adonuda will be a princess of sorts, an outcast due to the way she looks with her wings, and also a Wanderer. She will live in a tribe, where Tikora will visit in her travels, and seeing how they interact together I'll continue their story from there, whether she goes with Tikora or not. I would not use her in RPs, however I would RP her to perhaps find her a mate if need be, and I think she may be bisexual. She will most definitely get art drawn of her.

Mental Disposition:

Ada is not religious or superstitious, and that is a very important thing to keep in mind. She is a realist, of sorts. This comes from her past, being stamped down for having wings, an attribute which is thought to be demonic in her tribe’s beliefs. She has shunned all of her ancestor’s stories and beliefs because they shunned her but keep her there so she cannot rebel. Ada doesn’t judge others because she has been judged and has hated it, but instead acts hostile around most creatures that she meets to see if they will judge her. If they do not, she will act curious around them, not knowing much about the outer world because her tribe shunned their instincts of travelling. She is like a caged bird, one could say. She is not one who cares about looks, but she does adore her mane for some odd reason that some think stems from her childhood. She still is a child, naïve and innocent, still seeing the world the way a five year old child might.

Ada is intelligent in some ways, but from being so locked up she knows nothing of the outside world. All she knows of the world is what she has been told and already seen, which is not much. She likes reading books but rarely gets her hands on any due to strict beliefs of her tribe. Ada does throw childish tantrums, because she really is just an innocent child mentally though not physically. She can get mad over trivial things and does like to pick fights and make mischief where she can.

Ada likes to know everything, and she wants everything to go her way, for everything she says or does to be right. She doesn't enjoy being serious and is rather observant of the world, loving every blade of grass, every breath of air. She is rather appreciative and gracious of what the world offers her.

Ada is afraid of quite a few things. Heavy rain and thunder make her hide away, and spiders make her scream, though she'd never harm one. Her instincts are rather dulled and so she cannot tell danger from safety, and so she goes about things in a cautious way even if something is obviously safe. She is afraid of anger and others shunning her, and loves company though she was never given any.

Likes:
Ada likes games, information and fun. She loves to play pranks though there are usually consequences, and she loves the thought of travelling which is used against her. She likes freedom though she has never had it and likes being accepted, something else she has never had. She likes all the things she cannot have, and all the things she does have she hates. Ada loves new things and talking.

Dislikes:
Ada dislikes her family and her tribe for how they treat her. She dislikes the way they stay put and put her down, and hates being caged up. She dislikes seriousness and not knowing things, and she hates when other disagree with her. She dislikes things not going her way.

Animal: Eagle
Colour: Silver
Place: The Ocean
Food: Blueberries
Thing: Freedom
Feeling: The feeling of the wind in her hair and on her skin, of freedom.
Story: The story of the eagle who could not fly, which in it's simplest form sounds like this;
There was an eagle called Kina. She loved the feel of the wind in her feathers, but like all eagles at the start of the world, she had no wings and could not fly. She saw other birds flying and longed for freedom. The goddesses saw her sadness but did not give her kind wings, needed to see the use of wings being given to the species and the worthiness of Kina. One day, a hunter began shooting birds down, and Kina attacked the hunter, leading her friends to him and knocking him unconcious, saving the life of one of the goddesses whom was walking past to stop him. The goddess was so grateful she awarded eagles with wings, and gave Kina a grand pair of golden wings which she cherished dearly. Her freedom and need for the air to be underneath her was granted due to her selflessness and courage, and she flew forever on, loved by all eagles.

History/Background:
Once upon a moon, there was a Wanderer called Adonu. She was beautiful in more ways than one, and was wanted by many. She was born to the gods and was trusted, being placed to live on earth with ungodly Wanderers. She had beautiful green coloured wings and a long blonde mane which she loved deeply. But she was not happy with her riches, her loves, her beauty and her lineage. She wanted more. She asked the gods for more things, and they told her there was nothing more they could give her. She did not like this notion. She wanted the world, the stars, the moon. She manipulated a campfire, sending the village of peaceful Wanderers that she called her friends into chaos, killing many. The fire raged on and burnt the whole world, leaving behind a blackened crust of the perfect beauty that once stood. She was stripped of her godly powers, but her wings remained, a sign of demonic tendencies, evil and greed. She was sentenced to stay on the burning blackened world which was then encased by a new world much like the other but much less perfect. The blackened world became known as Hell and Adonu was trapped there, now the devil of the world and known as the fallen goddess. She lost her looks, her live and her lineage and was forced to keep the dead trapped in the blackened world if they had done wrong forever.

It’s a beautiful day outside. The sun is shining through the cracks in my shelter, and I can feel the warm air on my skin. There is a cool, refreshing breeze rustling the leaves of the trees to the left of where I am. To the right, there are plunging green valleys and hills, and high mountains ahead and behind me. Over the hill to the far left is the ocean, which is just audible at night when no-one else is awake. I do not sleep much at night, like the tribe I’ve grown up with. They don’t let me out of my shelter much anymore, not that they did much before either. I have so much time to sleep so I seize the chance to do other things at night.

My name is Ada, and I am a Wanderer. I am like the rest of my family, the same species, the same blood. We are all like horses but not, except I am the faulty link in our family chain. I have ‘demonic’ wings which show that one day I will rise against and harm my family and anyone close to them. They say I am Adonu's incarnate, the demoness whom was a fallen goddess turned by greed. They say I will do the same, create a burning, dead world. So I am kept in my hut, not allowed out unless under heavy guard to stop rebellion and attempts to kill this world we live in. But my guards sleep at night, and that is when I am free.

I am a princess, the only daughter in a family of 5 sons with a dead mother. Apparently I look like my mother in many ways. She died a few weeks after I was born, to what I cannot remember. My father says my wretchedness killed her, for which he hates me, but he knows one day I could become the leader of the tribe and so he says no more on the subject when I ask. We are from a family of secrets, a tribe of what I call lies and deception. The tribe follows strict rules apparently given to them by their gods and goddes's, and they follow them to the T. We are stuck in a religion where our wandering instincts are demonic and wrong, where we have to lock out our very nature from taking over. It is barbaric.

Away from the hills and the forest...I am unsure what lies there. I haven’t been told nor will anyone enlighten me. I am not to know of what else I can have in this world or what else is out there, as like Adonu I may want it all some day and that is what will start my rampage. It’s infuriating. But tonight I will find out. And then perhaps I will not return.

___

The night has come swiftly, making it hard to see. Luckily I have a flaming torch. I creak open my door, stepping out onto the deck and peeking around the camp. Everyone is asleep, besides my father who paces up and down his shelter with the light on, deep in thought. I don’t think he’ll notice me. My guards have left for the night to go to their own shelters, and I am out in the in between time, where one day has ended but another not yet started. No-one will come to check and guard me for hours yet. And so I leap outside, into the meadowy grass, smiling to myself. I quickly race so I am hiding behind my shelter, and peek around to my father again. The light is now off. And so I go as fast as I can down the hill into the valley, laughing softly to myself in glee. I begin to roll down, getting faster and faster, gathering speed in my step and grass in my hair. But then I come to a stop, hitting something with my side and winding me. I sit up, gasping for air and clutching my side in pain. I look up, expecting to find that it’s a tree looming over me with its black trunk and red autumn leaves twirling in the wind, reminiscent of hair. But it isn’t a tree, but it’s another wanderer, standing with its arms crossed staring down at me in annoyance. I begin to crawl backwards, my eyes widening. I’ve never seen a non tribe creature who had any intelligence matched to ours. It’s quite a big thing. I don’t know what to say, I’m too overwhelmed. ”Tikora,” is all the female says, and I reply, ”Adonuda.” Little did I know the meeting would change me and my life forever.

___

Tikora wanted me to leave. She wanted me to come with her and her own but I found no strength to leave my family. I was too afraid, I think. And so she visited me on many occasions and we sat, talking about the world we lived in and the worlds we didn't. I learnt much. And then one night she didn't come, and my father found me. My door was removed and I was guarded continuously. I had windows but no chance to escape. And so I broke the hut, made only of straw and thatch and let it collapse on top of me so the guards would go and alert my father. I escaped, and ran. I did not stop running until the next morning, when I collapsed in exhaustion. I had begun a journey on my own with no knowledge of the world like so many of my kind had before and it felt right.

___

It had been a day since I left and I'd run out of food. I didn't know what to eat or where to find it. I didn't know how to find water or shade, or what direction to go that would be most beneficial for me. No-one had told me and my instincts were retracting the information from me. I walked for hours through the forest, too afraid to eat the berries in case they were poisonous. I couldn't kill any prey, it wasn't right. With nothing to eat and no knowledge, I'd be dead within days. Collapsing to the ground in hunger, not used to the famine though short, my eyes closed over, and I fell into a starvation induced sleep.

I got up, wandering through the mist that had suddenly appeared, creating a haze over the forest. I could barely see ahead of me. Taking a tentative step forwards, I then bent down, feeling my way forwards. A figure appeared from the mist, towering over me much like Tikora had. She was beautiful, or showed signs of having once been, with long blonde silver hair and green wings. She stared down at me with knowing eyes. "Adonuda," She whispered, her mouth not moving but yet her voice echoing throughout my brain. I held a hand to my head, the single word hurting me, so strong yet so quiet. "Who are you?" I asked the creature, obviously a wanderer. "Guess." Her voice, or thoughts, whatever they were, sounded teasing, amused. As though I was meant to know and the notion of me not knowing made her want to laugh. I gritted my teeth to stop from yelling at her. Why would I know her? Then it struck me. Those green wings, blonde hair in a plait similar to mine - Adonu. I got to my feet, rising up from the ground and staring into her eyes. My young legs were much longer, making me taller, though more gangly than her adult figure seemed. I was ungraceful in comparison. Burns covered her face where beautiful markings and green eyes once sparkled, now a dulled jade colour. I didn't have to say her name for her to tell from my shocked and mesmerized expression that I'd guessed. "Correct," She almost laughed. I didn't return the humour of the moment, whatever she found funny I couldn't see it. "I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone in this journey. I am with you, though you may shun me all you like. We are similar, you and I. I watched when you were brought into this world, watched you grow, called for justice in the ignorance of the gods and your family. But I was unheard, in my world underneath yours. Take this-" She handed me a beautiful raven feather, and I attached it to my plait "-and know that when you whisper to it, I can hear you. Hold it in your sleep and I will come, help you, guide you." Her voice faded away as the mist closed in on me, shrouding her figure. Blindly I stepped forwards, my arms flailing as I searched for her. But without a trace, she was gone.

My eyes opened. I was still on the forest floor, my stomach growling in complaint. It had only been a dream. I sighed, a load off my shoulders. A demoness had not actually visited me, no matter how kind she had seemed. But then I felt something. In my hands, attached to my hair. A black raven feather, not a mark or a missing piece to it. I petted it with a cautious hoof. eat the blueberries, her voice seemed to whisper to me. I looked to my right, seeing small, almost purple but dark blue berries on a bush. I took one, rolling it in my hand curiously. I placed it into my mouth and slowly chewed it, feeling the flavour wash over my tongue. I almost grinned, eating the whole bush full of berries, though small, and feeling full afterward. Perhaps the dream had been a good thing, no matter how nightmarish it had seemed.
