I was struck by these question whilst reading the adoption center rules.
Making posts asking for donations and sending PMs about donations/free pets isn’t allowed, but what about mentioning “accepting donations” or asking for free pets in the “trading rules” of the trade center? What of “gift wars” and games like trick or treat”, “lights on/lights off”? What off the paper clip challenge? Is that considered low level scamming or since they mention it and it’s only a slight difference it is okay?
(Disclaimer: I’m not saying these should/should not be allowed and I do not intend to vilify or victimize these things. It is a vague area that I am curious about and that is all.)

I have a question about the rules surrounding selling art for USD!
Since the rules have been made clearer, I'm assuming allowing people to bid on an adoptable in the comments with USD (ie person 1: 20C$, person 2: 1usd) wouldn't be allowed?
But would it be allowed to post an adopt on CS, and say to contact on discord/DA to offer USD? or are you not allowed to mention that you are selling it for USD on CS at all?
I'm only just starting to get into selling my art for real life currency so I want to make sure I don't accidentally break any rules if I draw that art on CS!! thank you in advance!! c:
only here to post art and run. best way to reach me is discord (Shadowflight13#6850)I take art commissions for USD. message me on discord if interested! <3

Hi! Just have a question about the personal information rule. I know you can't link to sites that show any info that's not allowed on CS. Does that also apply to further links on the site you're linking to? For example, if I were to link to my DeviantArt page, which has no personal info displayed, but does have a link to my tumblr, which has my age in the description — would that be allowed, or not?

Users may ask for donations/gifts in their signature or trade rules, though generally I would say this is likely to get one fewer gifts overall and is not a great idea. Gift wars and paper clip challenges are trades (each user receives something) so those may be asked for in threads. Lights On/Lights Off is a specifically approved forum game that explicitly allows users to decline any requests for free gifts they receive if they so desire, and is opt in to play.

You may list a price and allow users to claim it or have users bid in real money on your Oekaki thread as long as you provide an alternate site to discuss the details of the transaction with them, so no information regarding payment details is discussed on CS. This is different from our rules regarding art shops, for example, because the Oekaki thread is on topic by virtue of being a drawing created with the program.

No, that would not be allowed. It would not result in a board warning, but we would still ask you to remove the link if you would like to keep that information displayed on it. Generally we're not going to go digging through your links on our own without receiving a user report regarding them, but it is still best practice not to include any personal information or links to personal information on them.

The Code of Conduct reads: "We allow a few specific minor curse words to be used in forum posts as long as they are not directed at other people." It continues to list a few specific examples.
Two objections:
(1) What is considered "minor" differs greatly between countries and cultures. In my country and culture, the word beginning with an "a" is a highly offensive swear word that is completely unacceptable in any context.
(2) What is considered "minor" often comes from a position of privilege and/or power. In my community, the word beginning with an "a" is regarded as hypersexualised content that is discriminatory of members of the queer community.
My plea:
Forbid any and all slurs, swear words and curse words.
There is another subject regarding the Code of Conduct that I would like to delve in more deeply and with more information. Moderators/admins, would you be so kind as to let me know whether this is the right thread, or whether this thread is only for questions, and not for suggestions/discussions/the pointing out of issues? Thank you!

You may not sell CS pets, items, or C$ for real world currency.
Pobably never gonna do this asking for clarity's sake, does this include deviantart points? Can you swap c$s for points with someone?
- You may transfer any designs by me out of any chicken smoothie closed species without asking my permission! Be free!!!
- I prefer not to be DM'd here unless its about something prediscussed / art commission related!
- Feel free to send me trades, I'm collecting some pets and items again! ^w^

dA's terms and conditions do not allow points to be traded off-site (they are listed
here in the sites that do not allow offsite trades), so you cannot trade CS for dA points.

re: dA points
You may sell Oekaki art/adoptables for ... and dA points
DeviantArt's Terms and Conditions for Points wrote:10. deviantPOINTS cannot be used, Transferred, sold or otherwise traded outside of the Site and any such activity is strictly prohibited.
wouldn't this be still classed as a violation in some cases, even if it's art?
