Cows are this way too. If a baby chick gets in the way of a cow's grazing, they'll chomp it down along with the grass.

Thanks guys. Gonna have nightmares about getting chased by Dino chickens. Also brought up an old memory I had repressed. Strange. π―

I adore cats, musicals (esp. If/Then),
singing, and chatting it up with new people!

One of my favourite chicken videos out there is one where a cat stalks a mouse, only to watch a chicken speed out from the background and snatch it up first.
That said, eating eggs is quite common in birds - they're nutritious, and egg-laying takes up energy and resources. That's also why people tend to grind up the egg shells and feed them back to their chickens later on c:
that one video you posted in once of a chicken like "screaming" is STILL burned into my brain
but yeah, our chickens would eat any eggs we somehow missed, and we did the egg shell thing too!

A lot of animals, especially ungulates, that we consider to be largely herbivorous, don't necessarily say no to a little meaty snack ;) Nature be like that. Gotta get yo nutrition, one way or another.
