This was a fantastic thing to see. I appreciate more than anything even the smallest bit of acknowledgment, though I still need more to be convinced things will get better.

as someone who's been on cs for nearly a decade, there needs to be change. maybe not necessarily selling the site, or handing over ownership / lead coding management, but if thats what it takes for cs to reach its full potential and grow, then so be it.

everything has been going downhill since i joined. everything has become repetitive and boring, and some aspects even dreadful (namely, everything to do with sorting and pets). a complete overhaul of the code isnt necessary, and would likely be a bigger hassle than worth, but all we need is small updates and upgrades -- everything is outdated, hell, the oekaki (arguably the most popular and up-to-date part of the site) is... lacking. i wouldnt expect a full on art program no, but basic tools such as the lasso selection or even a shape or text tool would vastly improve it and make it much more accessible to people.

events have felt,, empty. theres not much to them. nothing has changed about their mechanics at all. there even seems to be less pets in events lately. i know people get busy and real-life is more important than a pixel pet site, but it's been consistent and this between no updates, kinda feels like staff doesn't care as much anymore.

i had a lot more but i was pulled away from this for 3 hours and what's wrong with the site isn't the point of this thread – we just need updates. something to bring a little life into this stale website. we dont need extreme; a little adds up to a lot. just something.

I’ve been mulling over this since my last post and have a few more things to say if that’s alright.

First: As Oliverstorm noted above, some change had already happened, which is good! It means that even if we had a bit of a kerfluffle earlier, things are finally getting on the right track.

Secondly: Nick, thank you so much for joining us here and posting. It means a lot to everyone, even to a wee bab like me. I really hope you’re able to continue to pop in and keep us informed every once in a while!

Thirdly: I was thinking on how we could better implement a line of communication between the users and the staff, specifically those who have coding experience and are able to change things on the site itself. While I’m sure having constant announcements on the front page would be the simplest way, I think maybe starting a staff-locked thread would be a better idea. If possible, it could be used as a change log, making it easy to see what was implemented and when. This would open up some transparency, so that we the users could see what is being done, even if it’s minor, like the block system changes today.

Another idea I’d like to put on the table is possibly starting applications for volunteers who are familiar with coding and are able to take on projects from approved suggestions. Suggestions would still have to be approved by staff, but these “freelancers” for lack of better term could slowly start to fix the coding or implement new features. This would certainly take some of the stress off of Nick. As for possible compensation, why not grant a special title/avatar to the user? I don’t think a pet or item would be much good, but giving them some flair to show off in the forums would be fun!

Overall, I think what is needed most is transparency and updates, and being able to handle that in a single thread that only staff can post in would be an easy way to implement it.

I agree with this thread 100%. The only reason I am still here is for closed species, which also have been much quieter than what they used to be.

I will admit that I have had a few conversations about where and how a species can be kept alive if CS goes down any more.

I have been here for 10 years and I really don't want to leave but... I feel like we are being backed into a corner here.

EVERYTHING IN THE FIRST POST IS SO TRUE!!
I was looking back through old front page posts and they used to be a lot more personal, now they're pretty much just Copy/paste.

i also strong agree with everything that has been said. we need more communication & more personal communication. this would really give us hope that the owners/staff care & will continue improving cs into the future. i'm so grateful for all the work that has been put behind the scenes <3, but more needs to be done.

bumping this up in case some of you haven’t seen — nick updated the blocking feature which was a massive addition imo

Although that is useful and just one of the suggestions given another 10 that's were recommended for the blocking feature were ignored. For example being able to give reasons in your blocking area as to why You blocked then!

And sadly once again with the running theme of it all, we arent told if this will be implemented or that it would have been implemented. Once again it was just another random update I wouldn't have been aware of until I saw it in action. Hell I might not have noticed at all. Because it wasn't communicated in a large scale. I wouldn't have known about it unless someone posted it

Additionally with all that being said I feel like it might just be an attempt to kinda appease us? To quiet us down and make it seem like this might become a constant thing ^^".

Now please don't think I'm digging at the staff, Nick I appreciate all the hard work you do and do appreciate this update thank you. But that doesn't make my points above any less valid

agreed ;-;

even small updates should be shared on the front page, and if they're small and easy to do then you could save space by listening several together, for example: "Hi guys Nick here, I've been through the suggestions board and have been working on getting together some updates, here's what I have so far [links to the suggestion threads and posts on them about implementing said change], I'll be working on more when I have the time" or something similar. It'd make the world of difference
