He'd been on a patrol later than usual with his apprentice, and so he wasn't awake when the dawn patrol had left. The pale-pelted tom had been dreaming of settling down with someone, only to leave to train his apprentice. It felt like it was real, but he knew it wasn't, especially since his apprentice was seemingly content to go on every patrol and never said otherwise. Well, that and he hadn't found someone to settle down with. Truth be told, he was beginning to think that there wasn't anyone for him, but maybe there wasn't. Well, there was a certain cat that he might have had his eye but he was sure that he didn't feel the same.
Waking up to the ground shaking underneath was awful in itself, his hackles rising ever so slightly as he tried to keep calm and his paws on the ground, although the latter was a bit more difficult. Hearing his apprentice hiss and swear from the tremors, he released a quiet breath that he hadn't realized he was holding. At least she was alright, shaken up maybe but alright. Turning his gaze away from her for a moment, he couldn't help but make sure that Bumbleear was alright. Maybe he was already out of camp.

The silver tabby was usually one of the first cats awake, but for some reason, she'd slept in just a bit later than her usual time. But what had woke her up this time was the tremors of the earth, and it wasn't the smell of the air for once. Recently the air had been smelling so odd, and she'd taken to covering her nose with her tail and paws as she slept instead of accidentally sprawling over a few other cats. What was this? Would it ever stop? She'd never experienced anything like this before, and her mother never once spoke of the earth shaking under her paws.
Biting her tongue to keep from voicing her worries aloud, she wanted to leave but wasn't entirely sure if she could. Flattening her ears, she rose to her paws carefully and attempted to step away from any sleeping cats and nearly fell on a few of them. That would not have been fun, seeing as she wasn't exactly light. Alright, if she couldn't walk then perhaps she could crawl instead. She kept her paws on solid ground, with the rest of her close to it as well as she started. Another tremor under her caused her to lose her footing once more, only to lay there, shaking but not nearly as bad as the ground.
This was terrifying, wasn't it? Something was happening to the earth, and how were there so many cats still asleep? She couldn't hear the birds, and they were always around this early in the morning. Surely, there was a way out of this!
