- Subspecies of Hippogriff, though with 4 hooves and a parrot-shaped head
- More horse-like than hippogriffs, with fast ground speed (often do running take-offs for flight) and strong bodies
- Mainly herbivorous--graze plants and may crack nuts/seeds with beaks, though are opportunists with small prey
- A group is called a Flock
