hey everyone I’m here to ask for advice
I have two furbies I’m currently interested in buying, and can afford one
the first is a working snowball(? - it’s white) with a yellowed faceplate, which I thought was cute, for $40 + shipping
the second is an (unboxed) “untested” blue year 2000 furb for $45 + shipping (assuming it doesn’t work)
I’m not sure if these are well-prices, and if should take the chance at a not-working furb (I don’t mind having one, but would prefer not to spend that much if he doesn’t work)
also, I was thinking if the year 2000 seems like the better choice, and he doesn’t work, I could possible skin him and explore to find the problem? I’ve never done anything like that before-

edit; I found another year 2000 furb, still in box, for only $40
I’m assuming boxed furbies usually work, does anyone know?

hmmm me personally i would get the snowball but if you want to try and find the problem and see if the 2000 could be fixed then go for it!
and about boxed furbs working, ive bought a new out of the box furb and ive actually not got around to testing them. i might go do that and can update if they work or not

my first furb was a nib giraffe furb, didn't work when i first tested it BUT i just needed to do a push-start! basically you just gotta get in there where the gears are and turn a specific one. here's a guide on push-starting comatose furbies!
(i never use hot glue or new zip ties when i skin a furb. getting the skin back around the base can be tough though so if you wanna just cut the zip tie and put on a new one that's up to you!)

edit: oh! here's a less invasive way to do it, but you have to be a lot more careful not to break the gear!

I've personally found that if you give a furby that seems broken a hit - and it wurrs in response, that if you give it a good few hard smacks on either side it'll start up. This worked for about 3(?) Of my furbys! It's not guaranteed to work but it's worth a good shot! It took almost 10 minutes if smacking to get my wizard furby to work but she does lol

What @julian. Said is probably a better way of getting your furby to work but if you can't find a way inside your furby it might work, too! -b

In some cases furbies right out of the box will need to be skinned and a gear turned to get them to start.
All the nib furbies i have (beside the bumblebee and shelby, those are remaining in box since i may be trading them) dont work, so i need to go through and fix them if i can.

But i do agree with Evils that it is a good way to try and get them to work.

What do you love about furbies?

i find them insanely adorable, and they are a huge interest of mine!

Do you own any furbies?

i have 7!!!!! colgate, macaroni, toxic waste, goth gf, soggy french fry, ganz, and gogurt!

If so, put a picture of your furby below:
